The young boy frowned at the display. Not because it made him unhappy. If anything your use of his gift gave him much joy. But he was a bit off put by your understanding of romance. “Courtship does not work like that.”

You looked at him once. Your chubby cheeks puffy up before you humphed and continued playing. Knowing you, it was probably because you couldn’t think of a retort.

Wriothesley smiles.

As an engineer, you were quite confident with your inventions. From the cutest of meka toys to the titan like guards that surrounded you, you knew them in and out.

That is until you were faced with a faulty, hostile one. Almost dying at the surprise. If it weren’t for Wriothesley watching over you like he always does, you no doubt would have died. Luckily the two of you managed to get by with just a few injuries. Heavy injuries. But with your lives intact nonetheless.

You think it’s because of such a dangerous event happening that Wriothesley realized he could lose you at any moment. His fear of never telling you how he felt overcame his fear of losing what you two had and so he said,

“I like you.”

Just like the way your now discarded dolls would confess to each other.

“Yeah,” You gasped out, still exhausted from the fight earlier and in no mood to entertain traitor like him. “I like me too.”

Wriothesley frowns.

“Shut up!” He yelled. Yet his eyes were never filled with anger.

And so you continued, “I promised. . .”

“I said shut up!” He was sure that talking in your state was hell. So why did you keep going on and on. Why were you always so stubborn?

“I promised to be different—“ Ah. It was because you were stubborn that he loved you so much. It was because of you persistent nature that you decimated the walls around his heart. Accepted him as who he was. “different from all those who hurt you but I…”

The light began to fade away from your eyes. You wanted to look away because you knew the image of your death will haunt him for as long as he lived. But his grip on you never loosened. “But I couldn’t keep it.”

And it was because of him. His stubborn memories that forced him to push people away — that in your final moments, all you could say weren’t the words ‘I love you’, but strings of apologies and regret instead. Him, the discarded puppet, was never worthy of you love. It was all his fault and yet —

“I’m sorry.”

even as you leave him to a paradise he not once can get to, even if it was not by your own choice, even as you spent the last of your life to beg for his absolution

“The goddess Sarah? A virgin? But she must be over thousands of years old?”

Xiao almost chokes on his sip of tea as he overhears the words spoken by two traders at Wangshu inn. He quickly regains his composure and although he’s tempted to just get up and walk away from this mendacious gossip about you, something completes him to stay. 

“I can't imagine going that long without any. Hmm I wonder…do you think she’s accepting consorts to share her bed?”

The two men laugh and the look Xiao casts them over his shoulders is nothing short of pure disgust. 

He hates it. Although he mostly avoids people, now when he does come within close enough range he has to listen to their dishonorable gossip about you.

He hates it because he knows you. He sees you, without delay, every time you are in Liyue. 

He knows your favorite tea, knows the sounds of your footsteps, knows that you fidget with your necklace when you’re nervous, knows that you are lonely.

Disgusting. He thinks as he overhears the townsfolk talk about such an intimate part of you. 

Do these rumors surprise him? Hmm mostly yes. Because while Xiao does know you to be reserved and shy he does see you as otherworldly beautiful. When you spoke about being human in your past life he naturally assumed someone like you must have had admirers fawning at your feet. 

So to think all this time you’ve been alone like him

He’s nervous to see you again. You’ve been away in Inazuma but you’ll be back soon, at his side. 

Surely he can just…pretend he hasn't heard these rumors. Feign ignorance for your sake.

“Sarah’s ship has arrived back from Inazuma earlier. Aren’t you going to greet her?”

But Xiao has no response for Zhongli.

There you are again, the same night you arrive back in Liyue you waste no time. There you are on the terrace of Wangshu Inn waiting for your adeptus. He can see you from miles away, leaning over the railing, white shawl wrapped tightly around your shoulders from the cool air. 

“Be careful.'' He speaks as he teleports and approaches you from behind.

Your eyes immediately light up when you see him, the way you say his name feels like a caress. 

“Xiao!”

He wears his usual stern expression with arms crossed.

“How was your trip?”

It's strange how freely and openly he talks around you. He doesn't know why. When the two of you are around each other it's like two introverts become extroverts.

He sits at the table that stands outside on the terrace. That was put there by you, so you two could enjoy tea together in privacy. 

You pour him a blend of Inazuman tea that you’ve brought back with you, as you recount your trip to the land of eternity.

Maybe Xiao can avoid the awkward topic of the rumor floating around. 

“...I know you must have heard the rumors Xiao.” 

Or maybe not

He stutters, golden cat like eyes widening at you for a second before turning his now red face away from you. 

“I-I’ve heard no such things.” He responds way too quickly.

You suppress a giggle as you tilt your head a bit trying to get a look at his flustered face.

“It's ok Xiao, although having something so private talked about is embarrassing.” You lean back in your chair, hands fidgeting with each other in your lap.

“If it's you, I don't mind if you know.”

His heart skips a beat, as he shyly brings his gaze back to your face. Or at least he tries to, occasionally glancing at your glass tea cup.

“I mean by the way I act around you, you probably already concluded that I have no relationship experience.” 

No I haven’t. You are far too exceptional to have not been taken already.

“But um…” You pull your shawl tighter around your shoulders, hands moving to rest around the hot tea cup to warm your fingers.

“This, this information, it doesn't change how you see me right?”

He catches the anxiousness in your voice. 

“No never.”

Again he answers uncharastically quickly. Like you have a string tied around his heart that you pull. His gaze meets your eyes and although the top of his cheeks are pink his gaze is unwavering as he spoke those words.

The smile you return to him stalls his breath in his lungs.

“I’m glad, that’s reassuring.”

….(small time skip to when you two have finished your tea idk how to convey this lol)

“I’ll stay with you tonight as you fall asleep.” 

“Awww.”

What to do. What to do. The phrase excruciatingly heavy at the back of his mind. You’ve long since fallen asleep. He stands over the side of your bed, lost in thought looking over your peaceful figure. You’re just…exceeding his expectations of what he believed the creator to be. He doesn’t deserve you. He does not. And yet he subconsciously finds his hand drifting towards your face, just barely brushing over your hair. You do not stir. Like you welcome his presence even in your sleep.

He can’t have someone like you. He was never meant for that. Your heart is too pure. It's like the physical world is reminding him of his thoughts as a wisp of green smoke curls down from his arm and touches your hair. Xiao immediately retracting his hand. If all he can be is a blade to protect you then so be it. If sharing a cup of tea and listening to you recount your day brings a smile to your face, he will allow it. But to dare wish for more than that is not his place. It's painful, as he prepares to leave your room, looking at Dihua Marsh from your window. Every instinct in his body begging to look back at you one more time. Its painful, he tells himself, but he can shoulder it just as he’s done many times before. 

Would this new information change anything? No, not really. 

Becomes a little more protective of you(if that’s even possible). Oh but unlike Cyno he does now actively try to dissuade you from entering a romantic relationship, mostly with mortals. 

In the sense he’ll say things like,

“Don’t trust them.” “They’re just using you.” and maybe a tender “In the end you’re just going to end up getting hurt…and I don't want to see that.”

!! Oh but like I said above he would find it extremely disrespectful to find anyone talking about you in a sexual way(even if that other person was actively your own partner) 

Like literally in the most threatening sharpest tone ever “Do not speak of such undeferential matters concerning our god in my presence.”

110% that character that does not tolerate blasphemy spoken about you. Will defend you verbally even when you’re not there.

you're a traveler who likes to go from nation to nation, but liyue is the destination you travel to the most. you're paying the beautiful nation a visit, & everyone is happy to see you again. you enjoy third round knockout & their delectable beverages. after settling into an inn on the harbor, you immediately head there & order an iced coffee & a small appetizer of the spicy variety - two of your favorites !!

however, for the first time, there is someone sitting at your usual table that you don't recognize. it appears your schedules have finally lined up. this is where you first meet zhongli.

right away, you two hit it off. the conversations never seem to end & he is very curious to learn more about your travels. at one point, some regulars sit beside the both of you & politely tune in. the talk extends into the night ... one key thing you notice is that when you chime in with a rather blunt joke, no one laughs ... except when zhongli suddenly barks out a laugh, clearly a fan of your humor. judging by the reactions of the other tavern-goers, a laugh like this is rare. their faces are quite shocked. it's obvious he's laughing with you & not at you. it gets you a little flustered, but not in a negative way.

the two of you talk into the late hours of the night; long after everyone has left & third round knockout has closed. when the people on the street become fewer & fewer, you both realize it's time to go.

"allow me to walk you back in exchange for your wonderful company tonight, sen," zhongli would insist. & he does walk you back to the inn !! ... for reasons tooootttaaaallllyyyy unrelated, you decide to stay in liyue for a while longer.

what follows is you spending more & more time with zhongli. you take walks amongst liyue's breathtaking nature & solve ancient puzzles out in the wild; not so much for the treasure, but for the intellectual challenge your brilliant minds can team up for. whenever you feel that infamous sensation of burnout, you'll both sit in comfortable silence & enjoy the views ... yes, views ... zhongli is a very hot guy, after all.

he certainly finds you attractive, too. he has a faint blush on his cheeks whenever you're around. hu tao, who you meet in passing due to them being co-workers, is quick to point this out to you when he isn't looking with a wink & a nudge.

zhongli never expected to feel such a way for a mortal, & yet his heart races every time he thinks of you. he adores your focused expression when you speak with him about your research, or the passion in your eyes when you speak about your musical theater days.

on that fateful day when he approaches you with a bouquet of qingxins behind his back & a tender murmur of "sen..." —

She's an adventurer who also helps out at Bubu Pharmacy, running errands and occasionally delivering things. I haven't thought too much about their dynamic with Baizhu yet, as he's rather new but um. They're silly together and love each other so much trust <3 Ren uses any pronouns !

I can draw semi realistic, and also cartoonish, but I am awful and i mean abysmal at genshins style of anime art. so this is my work smarter not harder attempt at an oc. I'm also soooo beyond bad at trying to do clothes and outfits in general so genshin shit is even worse because its so busy? and confusing?? anyway. this was a picture I ripped off google of Xinyan that I colored over and sketched over. I actually added a lot to this so besides the eyes, body base/pose and general face shape Its all me baybey. I like to imagine my little self insert is from sumeru but left for fontaine to pursue music. shes Pyro and a claymore user which i know there is an excess of but my fiance said "you give off claymore energy" so we went with it.

her name is still Sakura despite beng from sumeru but i'll explain that in a sec))

long and kinda sad/trauma filled/edgy backstory bc im incapable of making happy backstories for my self inserts))

She is the child of 2 adventurers from sumeru. as a toddler she always joined her parents' adventures. one day as they were going to inazuma through a ship they came across a big storm. that storm wrecked the ship and seperated her from her parents. no matter how much she tried to go near her parents and save them she couldnt do anything as a little girl. as what remained of the wrecked ship was sinking she hit her head, seeing a light blue light before falling unconscious.

she was later found by a wlw youkai couple on an inazuman shore unconscious, holding her plushie and a cryo vision, protected by a cryo shield. a shield that broke only when she woke up. Due to the head injuries and the trauma she suffered, she had forgotten alot of stuff including her own name and the faces of her parents. the 2 youkai decided to adopt her as they have always wanted a child and gave her the name sakura because of her pink eyes and flower shaped pupils. the 3 later moved to sumeru in order to be safe from the vision hunt decree.

Growing up she was surprisingly energetic and happy. she had a big imagination that made playing house with other kids so much fun and she gained a reputation for coming up with the wildest scenarios and stories.

She was never interested in being an academia researcher. her interest was more in visual arts and crafts. drawing, painting, crocheting etc. but her biggest passion was sharing her stories so she started practicing acting, later getting in zubeyr theater. quickly befriending alot of people there including Nilou.

due to her childlike nature people are very 50/50 about her. some find it cute, some dislike it. but her childish nature and big imagination caused her to be the only grown up who can dream and see the aranara in sumeru ((yeah even the akasha couldn't completely make her unable to dream, it limited her creativity alot tho))

in her dreams she would play with the aranara and lesser lord kusanali, who she knew as nahida and thought she is just a regular kid until the samsara incident.

outside of theater work she likes to take walks around the forest and draw anything she thinks is pretty. she always carries her pencils, brushes and paints in the bag she made herself.

in the archon quest she helped the traveler figure out they are in a repeating dream with nahida, who she found out is lesser lord kusanali way before the traveler.

if she was in the game she would probably appear in the nahida archon quest and any quest relating the aranara

for her world quest,i think it would be about her finding out about her birth parents and real name through the irminsul and her dreams with nahidas help. that would make for some emotional cutscenes xp

Playstyle: she is a cryo catalyst support and shielder. her skill makes a shield and creates energy particles when enemy hits the shield. her burst freezes enemies without needing hydro kinda like Zhongli's burst, also applies cryo to enemies and buffs elemental reaction dmg

i feel like she'd be a 5 star but idk y'all can decide

and before you ask,

Yes our oc's can be friends :3 and you can draw them together

(only as friends tho, or maybe mentor/ student too, idk just dont make it romantic, she already has a bf lolol
