It isn’t that she particularly believes herself to be smarter or stronger (even if she may certainly be), simply that she recognizes her position. You are not a member of the Fatui, no. You are a simple hand who helps her orphanage. She often remarks that you are too soft on the children. The world is not always with warm and plush hands for them to hold, afterall. However, the laughter and joy you bring to their childhood evades the frigid realm of adulthood to come. “They deserve a semblance of a normal childhood, wouldn’t you agree?” You ask, rosen cheeks raised in a smile. Arlecchino gives no answer, but oversees snowballs hurl without her usual reprimand. 

CHILDE. He holds his hand up to the sky, golden rays lacing between the gaps. He remembers your coos to his siblings when they can’t sleep by the firelight. The eldest are always out, earning their wages with menial labor. The youngest listen to your stories of the world outside of the snow. His chest aches and his fingers curl to his forehead. He frightens you at times. Perhaps it’s the adeptus blood in your veins that can see through his veneer. Or did your fright begin from washing the blood from his scarf? He thought he had hid it, yet found it freshly folded on his bed with the scent of sweet orange. He heaves a sigh, pulling his lips back tightly. It was careless of him. Did you think you were doing him mercy by not saying a word about it? He will see you again soon and then he could explain.
