Do you know of any fics where Bucky makes friends with civilians (i.e. original characters who are non-Avengers) while recovering from being the Winter Soldier? I recently read "Dear Teacher, With Love" and the "Infinite Coffee and Protection Detail" series and want more but haven't had any luck searching.

I was just rewatching first avenger and vaguely remember reading a fic where bucky was found first and when shield set up the fake hospital room for steve, bucky tells the it's all wrong and that steve will think he's been kidnapped when he wakes up in an obviously fabricated room. Can't remember any more than that which I know isn't much to go on, but any ideas what it could be?

Hi, I'm trying to find a fic. I remember it's similar to Don't Ask, in that it's from (I think) Gabe Jones' pov about their relationship (or one of the other Howling Commandos, but I think it's Gabe because I remember in the end he marries Peggy). There's a specific scene I remember which is after Bucky dies and Steve asks for help to undo the straps on the back of his uniform because it's something Bucky always did for him. I hope that's enough info (and Happy Easter, if you celebrate it!)

In 1938, there’s a bar in Brooklyn called Sully’s where people are safe to be themselves. Behind the bar, a girl pours drinks. She’s always got a big smile for Steve and she says queer like it’s a good thing. On a regular basis, she takes his shoulders in her hands and tries to shake sense into him, saying, “When will you do something about that best friend of yours?”

In 2012, Bucky’s gone, but Steve’s not, and the girl’s hands are too old to shake him. She does her best to make him see sense anyway.

Steve had people who loved him before the war, and it turns out a few of them are still around when he finally comes home.
