Do Emily and Lena have any pets

Random love is amazing:

In canon- absolutely not. Emily’s flat is far too clean to have any sort of pets, and there’s no pet supplies or toys or what have you. Also, canon is boring.

In the mainverse that I play Emily in on this blog? Yes.

To be completely honest, her pet cat started out as a joke and ask gag for various asks I was sending out at the time. Just silly hijinks and the like that slowly ended up being adopted into my personal headcanons, although the cat’s current name makes no goddamn sense, considering Emily’s only sort-of met Genji in most universes.

Genyaji Shimeowda is the stray tom that currently resides at Emily and Lena’s flat. The flat is technically not allowed to have pets, but Emily is good friends with the landlady, and honestly, they couldn’t keep him out if they tried. Shimeowda is quite skilled at getting into the girl’s space and is just as adept at getting out again. Named such mostly because the women didn’t want to keep calling it ‘that ninja cat’ and the only name Emily could think of was the only ‘ninja’ she knows. Which is Genji.

The assumption is that they named the cat Shimeowda due to it’s appearance, which is just an unfortunate coincidence. Once upon a time, he might have been a pretty cat, but he’s a ‘senior’ cat who has survived pretty much by himself until he adopted the girls.

He was a black long-haired mixed breed of cat, but he is more bald and hairless than he is fluffy now.  He used to have mange and what wasn’t covered with that was marred with scars from a plethora of fights and other traumatic events. Shimeowda is also missing an eye and the last third of his tail, which is probably for the best as if he still had the full length, it’d look disproportionately long. Generally, this is a ratty and beaten up tom.

Other fun facts:

He still has his claws

He can turn on some faucets; he likes drinking from the tap

He can be trained and Robby has taught him a few tricks

He tolerates cat sweaters for two hours and then you will never find them again

He steals socks

He is neutered

Emily has taken him to the vet three times. Twice due to trauma.

He will not wear collars

If he likes you he brings you fully dead animals.

If he doesn’t like you, they will not be completely dead and they will be in your shoes.

When he sleeps, he is dead to the world. He only sleeps at Emily and Lena’s flat.

He likes Lena better

In the far distant future that I’ve headcanon’d for the girls, they end up having about four dogs when they finally move out of London.

Whelp, I'm doomed. I am now actively plotting out a Tseng/Reeve fic because the brainrot has gotten to that level. And I'm giving up because I've been trying to think up a plot for this Mace/Fox fic and was failing absolutely miserably.

I'm hoping if I can write and get this out of my head maybe I can concentrate on other bunnies instead. I suppose after 100 fucking hours of FF7: Rebirth it's to be expected. And I don't think I'm even at end game yet. I know I'm getting close but I'm not there yet.

I'm making myself not play the game right now in point of fact so that I can GET some writing done and catch up on replying to AO3 comments.

My life balance when a game I really want to play comes out just goes down the toilet. It's actually not great and concerning. :/ Thankfully it doesn't happen but maybe once a year or two but still.

dreams ( for genji

“Okay-okay-okay-” Emily said, handing Angela a mug of coffee and then Winston and Lena a cup of the family lemon tea. Genji was nursing his cup already, body subtly curling towards the warmth in his hands. She sat down on the couch between him and Lena, feet tucking up under her.

“So- Weirdest dream I had was about month ago- okay maybe it wasn’t the weirdest but it definitely ranked.”

“I want you to picture a giant field of flowers. Great large flowers- like a sunflower and a dandelion had a weird hybrid spawn. So I’m walking through these flowers, and I’m shouting for Alice- which if any of you are making the Alice in Wonderland connection, you are thinking exactly the same thing as I was. So I’m looking for my wee baby sister- who is allergic to a million things and I’m pretty sure her wheelchair wouldn’t make it through that patch of flowers, even if she put a cutting attachment in the front like she’s been threatening for the last month.”

Lena nodded her head- she heard those conversations. Long rants from Alice about people walking slow. Lena had suggested she take the medieval route and use a lance. That ended up on a long tangent about knights and Reinhardt and Bridgette and how to create a robotic horse that didn’t look like an OR15.

“So I stop in the middle of this field and I am slowly coming to the realization that this is probably a dream because the flowers are bloody staring at me. There’s some weird jump and I’m suddenly in a tree dressed like Peter Rabbit of all things and getting shouted at by Genji in an outfit to rival Jesse’s in tackiness.”

“So Farmer-McGenji here isn’t super mad about the stealing but he makes a couple of comments about usually, foxes raid the chickens not the cabbage patch- which I can see from the tree and there are goddamn fat baby-heads in the cabbages and if that isn’t nightmarish, then you have a stronger constitution than I do.”

“So apparently I have a subconscious furry kink, as I realize I‘m a fox dressed like peter rabbit. Then dream logic happens and I’m having tea with farmer McGenji and in walks Rabbit-Lena and about half of Overwatch- but they’re centaurs… but with goats. Goat-taurs. It’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen- so all of us have tea and I wake up because someone yanked on my tail. Since I’m a fox.”

“Turns out Shimeowda had used my lower back as a place to jump up onto the bookshelf. Little bastard dug his claws in.”

Genji is laying on my legs and purring up a storm (he never does this btw he is NOT a lap cat) I he only time he snuggles is in the morning when he flops on my chest and sloooowly oozes onto my windpipe.

So it’s pretty out of character for him to do and he’s trying to persuade me to get up and feed him.

But jokes on you pal, you’re super warm and I ain’t moving. 😈 Alas he moved but have a gratuitous pic of my asshole cat.
