Duckvember Day 6: Sleeping Duck

Wheee finally something for 2017 Ducktales lulz. Genieship with Gene and Djinn. Yay.

Gene woke up with a sudden start. There was that split second of not remembering   where he was right before he went to sleep. He knew he wasn’t /meant/ to fall asleep.

“Oh sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you,”  Djinn replied back softly. Gene’s head had been resting on his shoulder before he woke up. The half awake duck gave a glance around where he was at to gain his bearings.

They were sitting on a couch with T.V. paused in front of them. Gene then remembered what exactly had been going on before he dozed off. .

“Oh! You were showing me one of your fav movies and I fell asleep during it! I’m so so sorry!” Gene replied truly apologetic. Djinn just let out a soft chuckle.

“It is alright my dear. We both had a long day. Perhaps it is time for both of us to turn in,” Djinn replied, then giving the duck a kiss on the forehead. 

“I’m still sorry. I don’t want you to think me falling asleep meant I was bored! The movie was so good so far. That second sword fight was so good!” Gene pouted as his spoke. He still felt bad that he had fallen asleep during something Djinn liked, “Sleep is so weird. Even though it's been years I’m still not used to it.”

“You didn’t sleep as a genie?” Djinn asked with curiosity. It was a topic that never came up in conversation before. 

“I could sleep, but I didn’t HAVE to sleep,” Gene muttered in an annoyed tone, “And falling asleep when I didn’t want wasn’t a thing. And the whole feeling sleepy all day when you don’t get enough sleep. Ugh.” 

“You can sleep in. You don’t need to get up in the morning when I do,” Djinn offered as he put a hand under Gene’s beak chin.

“Nooooo, I like getting up in the morning with you. That’s not the problem!” Gene gave another whine in reply. Djinn tried not to chuckle at his boyfriend’s mood but could not help it.

“I’m sorry my love. Perhaps we should try to get to bed earlier,” the canine said before he gave Gene a light kiss on the side of the bill, “Let's get to bed now and we can talk more in the morning.”

Gene let out a defeated sigh, “Okay. But only if you carry me there.”

The former genie’s statement had been mostly joking. However, Djinn was quick to scoop up the duck at the request. Gene chuckled at being held bridal style. He gave Djinn a short kiss on the cheek, “alright show off, lets go to sleep before I start complaining more. Like feeling cold! What’s that all about!”

“I’ve done a good job of keeping you warm,” Djinn tried to say with his normal even tone and straight face. Gene did notice the bit of a smile on the canine’s muzzle.

“Oh you!” Gene giggled, giving him another peck on the cheek.

The former genie had a long restful sleep that night.

The type of stuff that pops into my garbage brain while I’m writing fics:

I would like to think that if D’jinn and Gene ever adopted a child the normally serious adventurer would gush over every tiny accomplishment their ‘little treasure’ would showcase growing up, while Gene just sits back and smiles at his partner’s unusually bright excited outbursts.

(Meanwhile I am nearly done with writing this fic, courses are over in three weeks and I’m a slow worker...)

Manifesting Genieship energy so I can like finally finish a chapter of a story. AHHHH

The Duckverse RP board I was on has been dead for a bit and its funny because with this spare time I have:

A. Finally almost finished with the next chapter of Genieship fic I had writers block for 2 years on.

B. Suddenly got back in to Dragon Ball like EXTREMELY like buying all the mangas and some new figures and starting to rewrite Mary Sue OC x Future Trunks stuff like what is going on.

C. Doing harder exercises to the point I drink protein shakes now like am I gonna get RIPPED i just don't know.

D: Just started painting the shit out of random shit. A plain wooden crate I've had for ages I have painted mint to match my walls. I painted a mirror frame. I painted some little 3d print figurines like what is going on.

E: Started making alternative Rosaries which I will be selling on a new Etsy store soon.

F: Started suddenly reading more like omg and not just the Dragon Ball mangas like old fantasy stories I've been meaning to reread like since forever.

What the hell dude.

I also think I'm going through a third puberty but that is a whole other story.

P.S. I forgot to add I also planted some plants, chives, lavender, and some chili peppers I gotta water twice a week and I have been remembering to water them. WTF.

Magical rapping genie otp

Hey there! Sorry to bother you if you’ve already answered this in a fic or shared a headcannon about it, but since dt17 gave us little (aka nothing in the way of character interaction, what do you think is a plausible way that Gene and Djinn could meet?(I’m too obsessed with a fictional dog and duck)

For me my headcanon has changed several times as episodes came out that CHANGED THINGS. @cataradical and I were shipping them like- right after the design of Gene was shown at a comic Convention? I think that's how it went. I mean, since Djinn was shown to be a good guy in this universe and descended from a genie OF COURSE HE WOULD GET A GENIE BOYFRIEND. Also I love the dynamic of a serious person and a cheerful energetic person dating. Whee.

So long before there was the Gene episode my first vague idea was based on the scene in the old Ducktales Movie where the kids are making wishes a distance away from Scrooge’s mansion. (The small pool that was an ice cream sunday…) That scenario happening in DT17 but Djinn was visiting to talk to Scrooge about monster hunting business, and noticed the kids up to something. He approaches the kids alone to ask what is going on. Louie is busy in a bouncy house and Dewey explains everything with finding a genie.

Djinn calmly asks Dewey to see the lamp. Louie in the distance sees this happen. He’s a smart kid and quickly realizes Djinn is going to probably free the genie. Djinn, not knowing Gene and not really even having a chance to talk to him wishes him free He’s able to get this done before Louie can get to him while yelling, ‘NoooooO!’

ANYWAYS. Of course that changed. @cataradical wrote a story with the meeting after Gene’s ep, having Djinn and Amunet waiting nearby while all that was going on. https://archiveofourown.org/works/23564626

AND THEN with then with what happened in the finale, I’m rewriting the next chapter of my story because it has a flashback of when they met. (Been rewriting since MARCH sobbb.) It would now be during the whole ‘capturing adventurers and villains phase.’ I kinda see it that captured Djinn and Gene would be aware of each other but not had a chance to talk? I headcanon that ‘released’ Gene just woke up back in his lamp. Once everyone in the compound was released from their cells Djinn goes on a search for the genie he saw, and upon finding the lamp in that libraryish area in that compound, then frees Gene.

But yeah, the basic idea no matter how its done is that Djinn just frees him, no ‘2 wishes before and then the 3rd to free you’ type stuff. Just, ‘OH a genie. Time to free them.’ And in every version this is done without a second thought and without even knowing Gene. I see Gene as having a crush right away but not knowing what those feels are right away. Djinn on the other hand is like, “ah, freshly freed genie needs to learn how to be in this world I’ll take him with me on my adventures to learn” and ends up falling or Gene. :3

27. Boyfriend Duck

Duck x Mammal are some of the best ships okay thats all I can say to this maybe. Lulz. I know I had three different ships that followed that rule but all I remember is Gene x Djinn right now. FRICK.

My Genieship headcanons lol: 

Gene is the first bird of any type Djinn has dated. Haaa. Djinn really has no preference on a body type for guys he dates. (In the next chapter of a story I’ll post before the end of the year one of his x-boyfriends shows up but is a good guy not an ass but completely opposite physically than Gene lol.) Anyways I just love having Djinn stoic, mostly serious acting hero/adventurer being soft and kind to his duck boyfriend an blushing slightly when he has to ask if something is different for birds ( like is him giving Gene a light tug on the tail okay??!) kinda biological things and personal preferences OKAY. That shit is CUTE.  Also I headcanon instead of the trope of big spoon little spoon sleeping pose what happens a lot instead is Djinn having his head resting on Gene’s chest. It’s a nice fluffy pillow okay. ;-; Ugh so wholesome. Sh-Shut UP.

BUGS AND DAFFY ARE ONE OF THE OTHER ONES. HOW DID I FORGET THOSE BASTARDS. Just the old married couple energy even long before the new reboot series there was okay. OKAY. I also like when they’re dynamic is switching who’s the ‘straight man’ in the comedy routine depending on the story/skit. Its just fitting that they switch who’s the sensible one and who’s the chaotic one sometimes. Ha.

Who’s the third then jfc. SIGH. Maybe I’ll think of it by the time I reblog this with my Genieship playlist. Ha. 

Lol 2017 Poe x Black Arts Beagle. THATS NOT THE ONE I’M FORGETING I just thought of that lawd what a mess FUCK I JUST LITERALLY REMEMBERED MEGAVOLT AND QUACKERJACK IS THE OTHER ONE. God I’m a terrible shipper sob. My terrible memory.  They’re cuties too even though I can’t write them as easily but I do have a Quackerjack centric story I need to finish someday that slightly hints that he and Megs have a relationship. Anyways that's another story I have to finish. Based on the trope of the character in a group that doesn’t have powers being the backbone of the team. (Ignoring Negaduck, his powers being negaversy and chainsaw. I GUESS.)  

I love how thinking how Poe x Black Arts ship would be such a mess reminded me of Quackerjack x Megs lulz. Just. That mess vibe. Poor Megavolt is like a hairless rat due to electricity powers. I would think having feathery duck boyfriend cuddles will keep him warm. I see them being together but still sleeping most the time at their separate hideouts. Except for winter Megs will always be at Quackerjack’s place. For warm cuddles. Ha.

P.S. I don’t actively ship Donald and Mickey but the stuff I’ve seen is cute. I can see Mickey being nicer to Donald than Bugs is to Daffy and like there being some sort of ToonTown meeting and Daffy with cross arms complaining to Bugs that he doesn’t offer to get him a drink from the punch bowl like Mickey just did for Donald. And Bugs has to sigh and ask Daffy if he wants a drink from the punch bowl table with Daffy says no he just spiked it. lulz. Or something LOONEY like that okay. God I’m so tired this new Melatonin is not helping.

Me before Ducktales finale naive and innocent:  

Wow how they made reboot Djinn a good guy and his ancestor is a freed genie they totally gonna have him and Gene meet. I mean, also cuz they were in the same movie so of course they'll meet! Even if the final fight it's them side by side fighting baddies with no dialogue I'd be happy with that!
