bad girls club is the first mini-album by south korean girl group GENESIS. the album was released digitally and physically on september 14th, 2018 by starship entertainment. the single album contains four tracks: "killer heels", "watch me", "can't bring this down" and the lead single, "bad girls club".

01. killer heels - it’s a head-banging, uplifting song about feminism and not treating women like objects. the lyrics were praised among western fans for talking about a hard-hitting topic while still being a fun and enjoyable song. hyunbin wrote the lyrics and produced the chorus.

02. bad girls club (title track) - this song is a bass-filled, rap-heavy track with lyrics such as “it’s good to be bad” and a very gritty feel to it. the quick and effortless transitions from hyunbin and hwamin’s rapping to perry and hyeri’s vocals, tied together by roseha and amelie’s dance breaks gave this song a very high rating.

03. watch me - a sparky, sassy song about being in the spotlight and doing things of your own volition, despite other people’s complaints. fans were pleasantly surprised at the absence of vocals and having the song be comprised of entirely rapping. hwamin became increasingly popular with this song because of her killing part.

04. can't bring this down - a chill, lowkey song to end off the mini-album. it’s about how despite the struggles they’ve faced, the girls have become successful and risen to the top, with the help of each other. hyunbin produced the song and perry helped with the composition.

𝘼𝙀𝙎𝙏𝙃𝙀𝙏𝙄𝘾

the main concept of this album is rebellion, so the girls went all out with a girl-crush theme. the focal point of the aesthetics is grunge, so there were a lot of fishnets with chains and the colour black, with lots of garters and harnesses.

all of the girls had black hair.

𝙈𝙐𝙎𝙄𝘾 𝙑𝙄𝘿𝙀𝙊

the mv is set in an unnamed city at night, and unlike the last two music videos, this isn’t connected to the main storyline.

perry’s scenes were in front of an outdoor vending machine. throughout the music video, it showed perry putting money in the vending machine, but nothing would come. when she wasn’t singing into the camera, she was getting more and more frustrated until she grabbed a rock and smashed the glass, taking as much as she can and running off. she was wearing a black graphic tee with an unzipped cardigan, a black skirt, fishnets and black thigh high boots. she had grey eye contacts. 

hyeri’s scenes were in front of a red wall. she was holding a red rose with a lot of thorns, and at one point she squeezed it so hard blood came out. she was wearing a red and black striped turtleneck, a red pleated skirt with a playboy bunny on the front, and red boots even though the screen never goes past her thighs. 

roseha’s scenes were on a highway. she was sitting on top of an electronic road sign and watching the cars underneath her go by. she was wearing a striped long-sleeve shirt underneath a black ‘dyse one’ graphic tee, black ripped jeans and black converse. her shirt was hitched up to show a temporary tattoo across her stomach that says ‘cut here’ with dotted lines.

amelie’s scenes were in a hallway lit with red neon lights. she was walking down the hallway, dancing and dinging animatedly into the camera. she wore a cropped red puffer jacket, black trousers with a yellow off-white tape belt and black chunky trainers. her hair was up in a bun

hyunbin’s scenes took place in the city, with the camera shakily following her around as if she were drunk. she wore a black baby tee with black shorts, black platform boots and a black jacket off the shoulders. she wore light brown eye contacts.

hwamin’s scenes were in an empty parking lot, lit by red lights. she was sitting on top of a white car rapping into the camera, while holding a baseball bat. the car was driving around in circles and the driver’s door was open, although nobody was driving it. she wore a red t-shirt cut off into a crop top, blue jeans, a checkerboard tape belt, and black doc martens.

𝙊𝙏𝙃𝙀𝙍 𝙑𝙄𝘿𝙀𝙊𝙎

they bLEW UP after this comeback, their fanbase increased noticeably and their videos started gaining more views

hyunbin and hwamin got their chance to SHINE as rappers

the mv got 20 million views in the first 24 hours

the mini-album ended up #1 on mnet and melon, and the title track got #3 on the charts again!!

the stylists actually outdid themselves, the girls looked amazing

01. requiem - a sad and emotional song about one-sided love, and the singer is mourning the ‘loss’ of their loved one (they now love somebody else). this song was praised because of its powerful vocals provided by perry and amelie.

02. isadora (title track) - this song is about the feeling of time fleeting by too fast, and the singer wishes they had more time to tell ‘isadora’ how they feel about her. roseha and amelie were the centres in the chorus. perry had help in producing this song.

03. caprice - a light, bouncy song (mostly in english) about having a puppy-dog crush on someone. hyeri did the backing vocals, guitar, and had the most lines in this song.

04. ballade - a song about someone who wishes they could go back to their ex-lover. despite the name, it’s not a ballad at all and it’s notably the most upbeat song in the album. hyunbin wrote this song and said it was partly based on a true story, intriguing the fans.

05. fantasia - a light, relaxing song about friends with benefits. hyunbin actually sang in this song and fans were pleasantly surprised. she said in a vlive that “with an album titled amare, we wanted to flip that on its head and write a song that doesn’t involve romantic love at all. we hope the fans like it.”.

06. sonatine - a fairylike guitar-centric song with lots of vocals. it’s about the singer having a crush on someone and not daring to tell them, in case they won’t feel the same way. this song was produced by hwamin.

07. aria - a dreamy, almost haunting track about enjoying midnight where it seems like everyone in the world is asleep except you. the only lyrics are “i see you, wherever you are” and they are sung by roseha. it is a perfect way to finish off the album and it provides a sense of calmness.

the main concept of this album is greek mythology, so the girls were going for pastel colours and fancy ball gowns with lots of lace and tulle.

perry had black hair, hyeri had dark blonde hair, roseha had blonde hair, amelie had black hair, hyunbin had brown hair and hwamin had black hair.

the mv starts off from the end of the ‘the renegades’ music video where the girls go to an abandoned museum.

perry’s scenes were on the grass during a sunset, and the camera view was from a window on a high floor. she was wearing a yellow layered strapless dress, a flower necklace and she was barefoot. she had light brown eye contacts.

hyeri’s scenes were underwater while singing at the camera. she was wearing a black leotard underneath a sky blue sheer gown, and she was also barefoot. she had blue eye contacts.

roseha’s scenes were in a grassy field and the camera had a close bird’s eye view of her. she was lying in the grass facing the camera, while daisies were blooming out of her hair. she was wearing a simple white spaghetti-strap dress and was holding a small bunch of white lilacs. she had green eye contacts.

amelie’s scenes were in a queen bedroom, in front of a vanity mirror admiring herself. she was wearing an ivory dress with sheer glitter embellishments on the chest and sleeves. she had dark pink eye contacts. 

hyunbin’s scenes were in a forest in the evening, and she was running through it while holding a bow and arrow. she had a silver dress that reached the ground and had glitter and holographic sequins at the bottom. she used one hand to hold her dress and the bow and arrow. 

hwamin’s scenes were on a hill at night by a full moon. she wore a black low-cut long-sleeved dress with star and glitter embellishments, and she was barefoot.

LUNAR is the debut single album by south korean girl group GENESIS. the album was released digitally on april 22nd, 2017, and physically on april 23rd, 2017 by starship entertainment. the single album contains six tracks: “starry night” “peculiar”, “interlude: space odyssey”, “the renegades reprise”, “lonely” and the lead single, “the renegades”.

01. starry night - a chill and relaxing song with rnb and soul elements. it was written by hyunbin, and the lyrics were written by perry. the song talks about wanting to be with someone romantically and wishing to be with them under a 'starry night'. the lyrics were deliberately written with gender-neutral pronouns so it could be applied to anyone. 

02. the renegades (title track) - a bold and upbeat title track filled with energy. the idea of this song was to show off their talent as a group and not fall into a category. roseha choreographed the chorus and hwamin helped in producing the song.

03. peculiar - a soft song about unrequited love. the singer and the love interest have been friends for a long time, but their relationship is starting to become less platonic. hyeri provides the guitar for this song.

04. interlude: space odyssey - an instrumental piece with sad undertones, produced by hwamin.

05. the renegades reprise - an acoustic version of their title track, further showcasing how they can pull off different genres.

06. lonely - a song that has a refreshing feel-good vibe to it, despite the name. it shows off their various talents, and the dreamy beat and their sweet vocals make the track perfect for listening while on a chill drive.

the main concept of this album is space, so most of the girls’ outfits had a lot of blue, purple and silver with lots of glitter and holographic material.

the mv is set in the fictional ‘cosmoverse’ where the girls, who are aliens, leave their respective home planets and team up on earth to become the renegades. 

perry’s scenes were by a window of a skyscraper, looking out into the night sky with a visible full moon. she had a purple top and a black pleated skirt, with chains going around her waist. she had knee-length black metallic boots and purple eye contacts. 

hyeri’s scenes were in a long purple room, with bright lights illuminating the whole place. all of her close up shots were slo-mo of her walking around or singing. she wore a white crop top with silver glittery trousers and a matching jacket, and she wore black chunky ankle boots. she also wore purple eye contacts. 

roseha’s scenes were in a city lit up with blue lighting. her scenes consisted of her standing in the middle singing to the camera, while people were walking around her sped up. she wore a purple glittery shirt with checkerboard overalls and blue boots. she wore two chain necklaces and had purple eye contacts.

amelie’s scenes were shot differently; she was lying on a bed, surrounded by floating cds covered in purple fairy lights. she wore a black cropped shirt with a black skirt, black thigh-high socks silver boots and chains in her hair. she had purple eye contacts.

hyunbin’s scenes were in an empty purple room, which had luminescent pink lighting. her shots were either her walking around and rapping, or sitting down with a pile of crystal balls and rapping. she wore a black knotted long-sleeve top with a sparkly lilac skirt and thigh-high black boots. she also had two chains wrapped around her torso and she wore purple contacts. fans were surprised because hyunbin usually wears baggy clothes.

hwamin’s scenes were shot in a club. she was standing in the middle, rapping and looking at the camera while people were dancing around her. she wore a black cropped graphic tee, light purple cargo trousers with zips on the thighs so they were exposed, fishnets, white shoes and a chain choker. she had purple eye contacts.

they almost got a win but just didn’t have enough votes :(( but they were good sports about it, after all, they just debuted

while promoting, you could tell they were nervous but they were trying their best

hyunbin quickly became the most popular because of her rapping skills and ‘resting bitch face’

their youtube show GENESIX made a debut!! lots of people i m m e d i a t e l y warmed up to it bcus it showed a more laidback version of the girlies
