so the house of representatives just passed a bill that will now move to the senate to BAN tik tok completely in the united states and they are expected to argue that “national security risks” outweigh the freedom of speech and first amendment rights. biden has already said that if it gets to him, he will sign it. whether or not you use the app…….this is something to be worried about

There's a general strike being set up currently, but we're not striking til we meet the requirements to safely do so ( https://generalstrikeus.com/strikecard ) this is a total day strike, so basically stay home don't give anything into the economy for literally one day. Basically saying "hey, for funsies this is what happens if you don't listen" to the government since everything's just fueled by money now. It isn't to deface unionization and in fact hopefully will bring more people to unionize and to the general strike so that we can actually do one proper.

I see where you're coming from though, but there's a lot more to it then just an Instagram post. I just wish people had been a bit louder about the end goal

I love how there's people going "worldwide general strike tomorrow for ceasefire. just don't come into work lol" like. Please stop being allergic to actual labour organising. You can't do a general strike by just saying "let's do a general strike" on an instagram post.

something that really grinds my gears about a lot of general strikes are the fact that they do not plan ahead At All. most strikes i see being circulated online are planned for like, the day after it was posted, which is ridiculous. maybe this is controversial, but i don't think you should be expecting people to call off of school, work, and their lives with such short notice. remember how long it took for the writers guild to even start their strikes? or SAG-AFTRA? Those took Months to even get the ball rolling. i understand wanting change now, but real change takes a long time, and you need everyone to be on board and, more importantly, Know about the fucking thing. we work stronger together, and being split into a million different spontaneous strikes does not benefit everyone, and can arguably lead to activism fatigue. all i ask is that if you're planning a strike, give Several Months notice, not just a couple days.

Hello again, Bisan (@/wizard_bisan1) has called for a global strike the 15th of april. For this day, we will try to disrupt the economy as much as possible, not post about our interests and perhaps not go to school/job if that is possible to you, etc. You are not forced to do anything, but you should definitely try to give your best if you will be participating.
