SO I’m slowly getting back to the Naruto/Boruto fandom after some years and wanted to complete this snippet I’ve had sitting around for a while ^*^ I hope you guys enjoy and feedback are always appreciated!
Izumi and Satoru are my OCs from Kirigakure/The Mist
…
“You don’t know what you’re doing, woman,” Suigetsu muttered under his breath, although he was barely standing up on his feet. “You can’t just allow a fugitive to escape-”
“You are not a fugitive.” Although she too was on the last reserves of her chakra, especially after the… bloodshed they had just escaped, Izumi was still able to support the Hozuki while dragging Kubikiribocho behind her. The white haired man was aware that she was shaking slightly… and not just from fatigue.
“It wasn’t your fault.” he mumbled in what he hoped was a non-judgmental tone.
“I suppose we can tell that to Hebiichigo.” As much as the redhead tried to keep her voice nonchalant, there was the tremor in it. “Oh wait… we can’t.” And now it was laced with bitterness and discontempt.
“There wasn’t anything you could do about it.”
“Suigetsu just - please… don’t try to make this better for me.”
The man was successful in suppressing a sigh. Whatever he said now, it wouldn’t matter… words couldn’t ease the guilt she felt. Not while the pain was still so raw. Not with the only person she had was him, who was never good with words… what she needed was distraction.
“Any ideas how we’re going to get out of Kiri then?”
“I have an acquaintance in the docks. He will get us out of here if it’s the last thing he does.”
“Not if I have a say about it.”
Suigetsu did not recognize the new voice that joined them, but it was clear the redhead kunoichi did as she froze on the spot, bringing him to an agonizing halt as well. With a grunt, the white haired man fell to the ground.
It was a sign of the agitation Izumi was feeling as she didn’t even acknowledge this unceremonious act with an apology as she whipped back, brandishing the legendary sword sloppily in her hands. “Satoru…”
“Izumi.” The dark haired man simply stated as he walked forward, his gaze as well as his sword hand steady. There was a cold, unyielding look in his eyes. “Surely… you aren’t trying to run away with this criminal?”
“He is no criminal.” Despite how exhausted she felt, Izumi still managed to deliver her words in an unwavering tone. “He was invited here by the Mizukage’s orders. He helped us in this war as much as any of our ninjas. What crime do you even blame him with?”
“So you claim he’s totally innocent eh? That he’s some sort of… war hero…” Satoru jerked his head to behind them, towards the docks. “Why is he running away, then, with one of our swords nonetheless?”
Izumi gaped at him, lost of words for a moment. “You… didn’t you hear what happened in town?” Her voice broke in the end. “Don’t you know…?”
“I heard a thing or two,” the man’s voice, on the other hand, was almost careless. “That’s why he’s hightailing it?”
“I’m letting him escape. I will notify Lord Mizukage and Mei about my decision. And I will definitely bring Kubikiribocho back. This is my word. This is on my head.” The redhead stood a little stronger, squaring her shoulders. “I will not let him face the same carnage Hebiichigo and her friends did.”
“Izumi, Izumi…” Satoru shook his head, and Izumi wondered, with an uneasy pang of disgust in her heart, if what she saw was the hint of a smile on his face. “You don’t really expect people who’d been hurt by them to stand idly aside and let them be, do you? Of course there was going to be some sort of retaliation.”
“Retaliation?” Izumi almost shouted in angry disbelief. “A young, innocent girl was murdered in cold blood you mongrel!”
“She wasn’t so innocent when she joined that Shizuma bastard in rebellion years ago. One has to take responsibility for what they-”
Satoru didn’t get to finish his sentence. With a cry of pure rage, Izumi had lunged at him, the legendary sword held high. The man just had the time to rise his own. The two blades clashed, but it was apparent that Kubikiribocho had the upper hand.
“You were behind this too, weren’t you?” Izumi hissed in his face. “You were a perpetrator in that goddamn attack!”
“So what if I was?” Satoru leered, unfazed. “Excuse me if I’m not going to cry over a bunch of scum.”
“You monster!” Izumi cried as she made a big slash with the sword, and Satoru had to jump back with a grunt as it passed by mere inches from his face. “They fought for Kiri, they were here to help!”
“Doesn’t erase their sins from the past, though, does it?”
It was like a red mist had clouded her vision. She wasn’t aware that she had moved, but the next moment, she engaged Satoru.
Izumi didn’t need words to convey her feelings after that point. Instead she let Kubikiribocho talk, and felt like she was empowered by every parry, every thrust. It was like the sword understood her insatiable wrath, even felt the very same way. She felt like it was singing, singing her fury to the darkening sky.
Was it how wielding a legendary sword felt like, she wondered. She… was enjoying it.
On and on they went, and she lost track of time completely. It could’ve been ten minutes or hours… She could hear Satoru’s breath hitching and it was like her chakra reserve was full from the beginning, she didn’t feel even a single drop of sweat on herself.
Your rightful anger is giving you all the strength you need, a voice mused in her head.
Satoru’s sword flew away from his hands. He winced as he landed hard on his back and couldn’t get up. When he looked up at her, the kunoichi saw his eyes widening and a look of panic… no, almost fear settling into them.
She’d never once beaten him in a sword fight after all.
Having locked eyes with him, Izumi didn’t immediately move for the last strike. She just kept gazing at the man that once held her heart, but now she hated him with all her being. One by one scenes flew before her eyes. Satoru subtly but mercilessly making fun of her, blaming her for Masaki’s awful injuries… Proposing to her like it was nothing, like her feelings and humiliation did not matter, like she did not matter… And now this, rallying ignorant people against those who came to their aid in Kiri’s most troubled moment…
This man was the embodiment of everything she hated and resented. Izumi raised Kubikiribocho even higher.
For all there was to it, she had completely forgotten about Suigetsu, for her no one existed but her and Satoru. That was why she was completely taken aback when she couldn’t move the sword any further, that it was being pulled back.
“That will do.” came the calm voice of the Hozuki from behind her. How was he so calm?
“No.” she said, and her tone was another shock. It was so cold, almost devoid of emotions. “He needs to die. I will end this here and now.”
Before Suigetsu could say anything more, Satoru acted. He dived for his sword, rolled and stood up again. Izumi was more than ready to continue their battle, she was actually yearning for it, but there was a tug in her hands and Kubikiribocho was no longer hers.
She had never seen another warrior wielding a sword like this, maybe only Chojuro. It didn’t even look like Suigetsu was fighting, it was more like a deadly dance. The winner was determined from the very beginning.
In no time at all, maybe even less time than it took for her to defeat him, Suigetsu had the legendary sword against Satoru’s throat. He was such a… natural he seemed, at that moment, just the rightful person to carry a legendary sword, like it was his birthright. She felt a shiver going down her spine. It was a formidable sight.
“You will return to the village.” The white haired man said in a tone that somehow held the authority of a kage. And still, he was so calm. Izumi could not understand it. “You will not pursue us, and I will spare you.”
“You, spare me? Who the hell do you think you are?”
“That’s for you to find out if you’re foolish enough.” Inexplicably, he turned his back to the man on the ground. “Come on, Izumi, let’s go.”
Satoru got to his feet, a look of disgust settling in his eyes as he directed his gaze to the kunoichi himself. “Mark my words, I will never forget this.” He spat towards the back of Suigetsu.
Izumi knew it would take only a spark to ignite the fury inside her, and that was it. Sprinting from her place, she was by the white haired man in a second, her hand reaching for the legendary sword once more.
And then there was a sharp pain to the back of her head, and she saw no more.
…
She opened her eyes to a strong breeze whipping her face, and the smell of salt water filling her nostrils. Blinking, her companion came into view, sitting just a few feet in front of her.
“Where are we?” Her voice was a little groggy.
“Isn’t it obvious?” came Suigetsu’s answer, not looking at her. She noticed Kubikiribocho on his lap and one of his hands trailing in the sea. At first she thought nothing of it, but slowly, she noticed the many wounds he had received were healing. Just by small degrees, but they were. “We are sailing away from the Mist.”
“I didn’t know water could heal you as well.”
Suigetsu scoffed, but it was without humor. “Shows just how much you Kiri people know.”
She was so, so tired that she didn’t bother to merit this with an appropriate answer. Instead, she found herself just staring at the sword. “You should’ve allowed me to finish what I started.” she mumbled. Oh she so wanted to hold the blade again…
“No.” The man’s answer was curt, delivered with a finality. It made Izumi frown up at him.
“I can wield a legendary sword perfectly well, thank you very much, and I believe I showed how capable I am just now.”
“That’s not it, you idiot.” The Hozuki sighed, passing a hand through his eyes. “You… have no idea about the kind of power these swords have, do you? About their true potential?”
Izumi was surprised, and she didn’t answer for a moment. “I know about as much as any Kirigakure ninja.” she replied honestly.
“So in short, you know next to nothing.” There was the scoff again, which was beginning to get on the woman’s nerves. “Yet you get to claim the swords truly belong to the Mist… The ignorance is laughable.”
“Well, why don’t you spit it out then?” Her tone was a little more aggressive than she imagined, but she couldn’t help it.
“This is not the time. Go back to sleep. There’s still a long way to the Land of Fire.”
It was Izumi’s turn to scoff. “I didn’t sleep. You knocked me out.”
“It was just as well. If Kubikiribocho got a hold of you while you were at your weakest… Well, you can thank me later when you hear the whole story.”
Izumi looked away, though it was hard, and out into the open water, towards the land piece they were leaving behind. “How come you know the whole story then?”
“You ever heard about Hozuki Mangetsu? From the unbeatable legendary warriors, the first group?” There was a pause. “He was my brother.”
“Oh.” The woman didn’t know what else to say. From what she heard, Mangetsu wasn’t alive anymore.
“He had mastered all of the seven swords. And that was what cost him his life. That much power… isn’t meant for one person only.” Another smirk. “It’s not only about learning taijutsu and kenjutsu, you see. There’s a whole lore behind it.”
“I honestly don’t understand what you’re saying…” Trying to decipher the meaning was already giving her a headache. “But I’m more than eager to listen to that lore when we can… and decide whether I’ll thank you for it or not.”
“I suppose I should thank you for getting me out of that hellhole as well,” this time, the man’s smile, albeit a small one, was genuine as he finally looked at her. “But let’s not turn this into a tradition, shall we?”
Izumi smiled herself. “No. Let’s not.” Then she settled as best as she could into the boat for a restless sleep.

A Naruto Headcanon - The Culinary History of the Ninja World.
i'm back and not so bare with me. this headcanons is related to a story telling how chouji and karui's marriage went down.
EACH COUNTRY’S CULINARY HISTORY
Konohagakure (Country of Fire) Konohagakure aka the land of the free. Many things make up the uniqueness of the cuisine of the country of fire. First, they are the king of importation, so their diet is really diverse and touched all sectors evenly. They grow all kind of vegetables to meet the need of its residents. While there are not has much native plants from the area in their current diet contrary to other villages like Suna and Kiri.
Konoha being built on a vast forest, their main fruit consumption comes from small fruit trees and fruit trees like apples, pears, and pomegranate. Anything that grows on a tree is often easily available since it takes its roots in Konoha’s founder Hashirama Senju.
The country are the main producer and consumer of eggs and meat especially pork (which they export all over the ninja world) this where you get the whole BBQ concept and omelets. Another downfall of the cuisine from Konoha is the heavy presence of processed goods in everyday cooking preparation. The current culture is far more removed from its traditional cooking methods. Referred to as the Senju Diet is almost getting lost and seen has a flower from the past. Many (often older individuals) resist the hard change that came trough time and tries to uphold the consumption of the way ninjas ate in the past.
Lotus Root is a staple of the Senju Diet

Even Naruto can testify to this and noticed how it hard for him maintain the same diet as when he was a child (aside eating ramen), the way fast foods chains have almost came out of nowhere and took over the market deeply concerns him (especially how its taking hold of this younger generation). The deliberate effort towards modernization and proving the country is the first in everything, can reach everything, can eat everything, can win against anyone basically walking like they are the goat of the ninja world has affected negatively old traditions in subtle ways and in other more obvious ways. Like how the Konoha can keep escape the threat of famine by stealing other nations resources.
At the same time, the combination of different culinary practice gave birth to various more dishes with various diverse ingredients and interesting like Takoyaki, okonomiyaki & dango

Like mentioned before, industrialization gave birth to many processed who are a staple in those dishes. products who are often only found in the country of fire like fish cakes & narutomaki. The land of fire is the soup & noodles master, it’s like their national food for being convenient and versatile with they make the infamous ramen but other dishes like stir-frys Yes, it a generous filling cuisine to overflow your stomach
Classic/Staple Konoha Meal=Shoyu Miso/Pork Ramen with Narutomaki, Apple Salad, Dango, Sushi, Takoyaki, pickled radish, Beef BBQ
Sunagakure (Country of Wind) The cuisine from Suna is unique. Not only emerging from a desertic land, but it was also able to survive the test of time and stay true to its original roots. Based on the high temperatures and sandy soil of the land of wind, the residents have access to interesting crops who cannot be found elsewhere in the ninja world. Suna is the homeland of dates, they are the main intake of sugar in its diet. They are used in countless recipes like sweet & pastries. they are used to sweetened teas since tea drinking is a big thing. Offering tea is a tradition when receiving guests and tea was used by nomads who made long trip in the desert in order to stay hydrated.

In Sunagakure, they go hard on sweets. Especially dates since the are the only producer of them. They have countless of pastries, candies and date-bases recipes because it was once use as a method of survival in the long windy season in the desert or to have the sugar necessary to be transformed in a energy source to endure long trip in the desert. They are a national pride since most nuts in the ninja world grows in the country of wind; almonds, pistachios, walnuts, etc. they also showcase delicate and unique culinary practices when it comes to pastries who set Suna apart from other nations. It is the only place to find citrus, olive & argan trees used to make oils mostly made for exportation & their lucrative citrus production industry.

Their eating style is different since it is not uncommon to eat with your hands. For a long time, families were large so the habit of having a large plate to share with many emerge from that condition

Due to frequent drought, the country of wind has specialized themselves in the production of survival crops like grains like millet, sorghum & wheat who are also a staple in the cuisine of Suna. they most of the time milled to make flour to produce various types of bread crepe and flat breads (also see as more convenient since they don’t require yeast to be cooked). Alongside that, the consumption of legumes like lentils and different kinds of beans is the main source of protein and prized as all around superfood. They are cooked in paste and stew often eaten with bread.
Staple/Classic Suna Meal=Large plate of various pastes/creamy sauces made of beans & lentils, grilled eggplant, hummus, flat bread, millet crepe, spinach, citrus tea,
Kirigakure (Country of Water) The main meal is Kiri is grilled fish.
Unfortunately, Kirigakure has the reputation of eating ANYTHING that swims, crawls, run or fly in the ocean. First and firmly base on their location and how the practice of fishing is part of so many residents lives.

Also, it comes from the lack of access to goods from importation of other nations. For very long time, Kiri and the surrounded regions were left on their own when a bad harvest happened, or if the climate hindered the quantity of fish collected. In those cases, the villager learned to make anything of every single thing they found (in the ocean). Due to their different economical system (mostly based on exchange of goods), it took a long time for Kiri to join the market of importation and exportation. Now they are the main exporter of seafood of various types and fish (a staple in their diet). The land of fire became the main consumers of seafood above the country of water itself. The never-ending high demand for sea product (including fish) has opened the door for illegal activity to create non-approved fish farms and illegal fishing. The country of wind is guilty, while having no access to water yet desiring sea products (which is recent because they try to follow after the country of fire and the whole globalization narrative). The Country of Fire being the biggest culprit due to their insatiable desire to reach all and taste all (even without permission).

Their known cultural theft has implication in the problem since a traditional dish named サメの目 (Same no Me written Samenome meaning Shark Eyes) which consist of thin layers of fish rolled and stuffed with black wild rice and bitter herbs (it is name like this since it resemble the pupils of sharks) was ‘’discovered’’ by ninja scientist from Konohagakure during early invasion of the country of water by various bigger nations for natural resources in this case being clay who was abundant along any body of water (used to make pots and tolls before the emergence of various metals) also to take control and harvest the almost infinite amount of fresh water. The devastation of natural habitat and the disruption of the ecosystem cause a destruction that couldn’t be healed instead it changed the nature of the environment. Since then, most bodies of water in the land of water turned into seawater, the once flourishing pastures of green leafy galore died and the remaining surviving plants gave birth to what we know today as bitter herbs (ex: dandelion, wormwood, chamomille, peppermint, etc) and they are a staeple in the cuisine of Kiri, for some their main intake of green plants. They are also valued for their medicinal values (you know them plants Haku was collecting in the woods)
Learn more about bitter herbs here: https://dirthappy.com/bitter-herbs/
(Going back to what we were talking about)The discovery of Samenome was then taken back to the country of fire and after being merged and modified with the local crops and different culinary practices became what we know today as sushi; the captain of Konoha’s cuisine along side with Ramen. The seaweed paper also originally comes from Kiri, they were not used as food but fertilizers for growing crops. The practice of harvesting seaweed became popular in the southern part of the country of fire after the nori seaweed was discovered in its waters. Meanwhile they still import wakame from the country of water since it’s a staple for various soups and side dishes.
In The Country of Water, they consumed more the wild varieties of different crops like wild black rice, quinoa & amaranth as a main source of carbs.
In Kiri, they seasoned everything with pepper, everything; rice, bitter herbs, fish & seafood, grains. Some regions of the country of water house the spiciest pepper you can find in the warm months of the summer and the most frost resistant cabbages during the cold months. Now, they import a lot of pepper product from The country of lightning during the most of the year. Most of the seasoning is onion-based but the access to salt from the waters allowed the spectrum of seasoning to widen but also utilize is in order to ferment or pickle foods for the winter making pickled goods a staple in the cuisine of Kiri even for pickled fish.
Staple/Classic Kiri meal= Grilled fish, Samenome, spicy pickled cabbage, amaranth crepe of fritters, bitter herbs, pepper sauce
Kumogakure (Country of Lightning) The cuisine of Kumogakure is different than typical meals you would find in other nations. Like Suna the uniqueness reveals itself in their cuisine since its most popular dishes are made of ingredients that can only be found in the country of lightning. Cuisine of Kumogakure follows various principals making their reputation.
Beef is a luxury food. Due to its location, residents of the country of lightning were consuming other animals like sheep and goat who are abundant in rocky areas. The first wild buffalos were in fact imported from neighbor countries and are domesticated for food in small quantities because most green pasture (outside of main cities) are already occupied by sheeps. Many attempts were made to grow the bovine population but failed due to competition for food and access to grass.
Meat is more regarded as side dishes since their protein source mostly come from green vegetable and beans. Like in Suna, where legumes are praised for their high nutritional value but in the country of wind they eat lentils & chickpeas, meanwhile in Kumo they are eating kidney beans, black eyes peas and their infamous black beans. Each nation has a particular legume/bean/pulse they cherish in their cuisine. The Country of fire is house to all types of sprouts like of mung bean and edamame/soy beans. Interestingly, the practice of making tofu comes from Amegakure and has spread to neighboring nations. In Kiri, they eat beans in their original form, simple steamed and sometimes raw so they prefer yardlong beans and peas of different kinds.
· The land of lightning is famous for their abundance of herbs & spice. Hence why they weren’t as enthusiast to rush into meat consumption since they can make many vegetables taste amazing by seasoning it right. Plants like ginger, turmeric, various varieties of peppers, allspice, paprika, star anise & parsley are native to the area. the exception is garlic since it can be found abundantly across the ninja world.
· The cuisine of Kumo could be defined as quick and simple. Hence why they are numerous meals in bites sizes like fried dough (a popular street food), samoussa, meat/bean patties, dried sweet potatoes chips (chouji’s favorite). Unfortunately, frying/pan-frying is a prominent method of cooking so to balance the diet the preparation of vegetables filled stews and soups comes in the picture and they don’t eat foods like white rice. First, because it does not grow in the region at all, instead it’s the rare place where eating brown rice is thing and meals like fermented pureed yam are often use as a substitute for rice along many sauces and stews (after white rice became popular across the ninja world.). In Suna, they sticked to basmati rice and Kiri to black rice but white rice & sweet rice (hybridized in the country of fire) has always been one of the first food to be distributed is smaller nations in food crisis and for daily consumption because of how easily it is to massively produce and for their poorer nutritional value.

(ex: meat/beans patties, sweet potatoes chips, deep fried dough (bottom pic above) called ふわふわ/Fuwa Fuwa meaning Fluffy since the yeast used to make them creates a treat light and airy/fluffy like clouds & samoussa)
· SAUCE, SAUCE, SAUCE. Again, we said people from the Cloud love when it’s simple (hence why many dishes from Konoha like Takoyaki seems like an equation of calculus to them but those who could taste it enjoyed it actually). Its ‘’we dump all in the pot and let it cook’’ cooking style. If your meal doesn’t have a sauce of any kind, its not from Kumo. Many of them contained some form of peanut butter (a national pride food). The country of lightning is the biggest producer of peanuts and use it in various dishes

(exemples: peanut soup, fermented cassava pulp, cassava leave sauce, callaloo/amaranth soup, spinach peanut butter sauce )
· Did you know that Kumo’s peanut brittle’s distant cousin is the Nougat from Suna? It’s the Raikage’s favorite snack. Like the menu of the wedding feature the country most prized, popular, and fancy meals, most of them are the raikage’s favorites.

(from left to right, Nougat (from Suna) & Peanut Brittle also called 稲妻バー/Inazuma bars meaning Lightning Bars) because when you prepare them it is tradition to punch the plate in the middle to break it into smaller portions, it looks like the food got hit by lightning.
Many exotic tropical grows outside of big cities like mangos, pineapples & papayas making fruit the main sugar intake in the Kumo diet.

Kirigakure Rebellion Au
Just pretty much a list of headcanons for my Kirigakure Rebellion Au where Zabuza was a part of the resistance movement to remove Yagura, along with Mei and Ao. It pretty much also combines Zabuza and Haku live aus and Let's not give Kakashi a reminder of Rin's death for the hundredth time aus
Its also kinda a road map to get me to somehow connect these all together to make a cohesive fic out of
Also features my extra commentary
Works featuring this au
Bitten kisses
Battered Bones against the Waves
Kirigakure
Zabuza was raised in the slums of Kirigakure, where the poorest of the poor gathered. He lived with his mother (because damn we got all kinds of father figures but moms don't even get name dropped. What, did Sakumo get Kakashi express delivered?)
The slums were often scoured for shinobi recruitment during war times or just times of conflict, mainly used to collect fodder. However a young Zabuza saw becoming a ninja as a way to collect money to get his ailing mother medical help and to help claw their way up from the bottom
Sadly, just shortly after he reached his ninth birthday, his mother succumbed to her illness, leaving Zabuza alone. Heartbroken, and with nothing left to lose, he attends the Kirigakure Academy graduation and slaughters all the graduates
Zabuza becomes a well feared shinobi that rose quickly in ranks over the following years, however like many he grew to resent and question the practices and traditions that Yagura allowed to continue and even made worse (especially the Kekkei Genkai clan killings)
Zabuza became the sturdy backbone of the resistance, following Ao as part of the Sensory division for intel, and Mei, who with her abilities and political sway, was selected to be the candidate to replace Yagura when it came time to deal with him (It took Konoha how many days to find a replacement Hokage after the Third? Considering the Genjutsu that Yagura was under was discovered and dispelled right before the chuunin exams and Mei was selected in place quickly enough to decide not to participate their village in the exams, makes me think that she was always lined up, you know? Like it was planned.)
Unfortunately, there was a mole within Zabuza's ranks, which in turn ratted out his plans the night of his attempted coup. He had only chosen a small group to infiltrate and take out Yagura, as Mei and Ao were to only make their moves after Yagura was dead.
Zabuza, of course, flees that very same night. Only pausing to snatch Haku from where Zabuza had left him (who he had taken under his wing months before the attempted coup) before fleeing Kirigakure. It's thanks to Ao and Mei's hidden efforts that he isn't caught, and he takes on the sole blame for the attempted assassination as to not implicate them.
Zabuza then spends his time training Haku, avoiding Hunter-nin, and resorting to any work he can find that pays well so he can feed and shelter the few followers he has left, on top of circulating money or supplies back home (he has a radio that he contacts Ao on only when he comes into a good chunk of money, supplies, or intel. It's only for him to communicate what he's found, and neither Ao or Mei are meant to respond out of caution)
Land of Waves
Everything pretty much plays out the same EXCEPT
Kakashi is able to catch sight (and scent) of Haku right as he jumps between him and Zabuza to act as a shield. Kakashi only barely manages to redirect his Chidori/Raikiri/Lightning blade to not piercing through Haku's heart but rather tear through his shoulder
The wound is still grievous enough to make Haku lose consciousness while clutching at Kakashi's arm. With the amount of blood coating him and Haku falling limp, Zabuza assumes that Haku has died. For him.
Canon events play out from here, with Zabuza attempting to cleave through Haku's body and Kakashi leaping away with him. Kakashi closes Haku's eyes and continues fighting Zabuza (in the heat of battle and the fact that Kakashi only barely managed to raise his aim, he too assumes the boy is dead)
Gato appears, Naruto's speech, Zabuza's tears but then...shortly after Gato kicked Haku's face.....everyone is shocked to hear Haku faintly groan
This shell shocks Naruto, Kakashi "Wait I didn't murder another dark haired individual who looks strangely like Rin", and of course Zabuza
Gato, surprised to see Haku still alive, sees this as a perfect time for revenge and attempts to use his cane to bash in Haku's skull
Zabuza sprints into action, and Kakashi knowing Naruto would also leap into the fray to save Haku, clones himself to hold Naruto back while he joins Zabuza (they did just stop fighting once Gato pretty much fired Zabuza and turned on him )
With Kakashi in the fray, Zabuza doesn't get as severely injured, allowing him to make it to Gato where of course he decapitates the bastard
Cue the village population and Inari showing up, followed by clone shenanigans, and the fact two deadly ninja are within their midst, Gatos hired thugs flee
Zabuza's favor from Kakashi in this au consists of him helping Zabuza get to Haku's side. Kakashi agrees, and the pair make their way to Haku who is barely breathing, blood pouring from his wound. Kakashi would remark that Haku wouldn't last much longer, and Zabuza agrees.
With their truce and probably some parting words from Naruto, that movement of Zabuza's arm mustered in canon is used to get Haku hooked over his shoulder with the least injured arm. Zabuza says his goodbyes, and then uses what strength and energy he has left to escape the bridge with Haku.
The two weeks spent fixing the bridge and team 7 healing, Zabuza is instead tending to Haku at their hideout. The first week was spent in a toss up of whether Haku would live, but the second is spent with him healing after the worst had passed. The pair would tend to their wounds for probably a month or so, along with Zabuza admitting that Haku wasn't just a tool to him. He does care about Haku, and just wants him to be able to survive on his own should anything befall Zabuza.
Zabuza and Haku's relationship then shifts into a more Teacher/student and pseudo-guardian figure on Zabuza's end.
When Zabuza and Haku decide to take their leave, Zabuza is amused to find his and Haku's 'graves', along with Kubikiribocho embedded at his. He thinks Kakashi has a twisted sense of humor (but also very grateful that his sword wasn't confiscated and them being 'dead' would buy them time from Hunter-nin)
Afterwards
Basically after Yagura was discovered brainwashed and Mei becomes Mizukage, Zabuza and Haku are "captured" and brought back to Kirigakure. Through some string pullings and other underhanded means, Zabuza is punished by being reinstated as a Kirigakure ninja (I know, big punishment right? Maybe she reverts him back to a Genin/Chuunin just to be petty)

Sail Bluesea X Phil Wingate Next Generation
They were living together, but they were always arguing about pretty much everything, so they divorced. Little did Phil know that he was pregnant from their first daughter Salis. Despite all of that, he decided to not tell Sail about it, and avoid meetings with him. But despite his arrogant and cocky personality, Sail was heavily worried since he didn’t get any news whatsoever. So he tried to find Phil and that’s where he will notice that he was pregnant with their child. Phil cried because he realized how much he missed Sail. On the other hand, Sail was sorry because he knows deep down that it was because of his cocky personality that Phil left, so he promised he will do his best to calm down. They raised their newborn daughter together and Phil even gave her Sail’s surname ! Sail even proposed to Phil some months later ! They even get another child together !

Salis Bluesea :
Full name : Salis Fiona Bluesea
Nickname : Sally
Gender : Female
Birthday : December 15th
Zodiac Sign : Sagittarius
Height : 5′8″ (172 cm)
Weight : 108 lbs (49 kg)
Nationality : Japanese
Parents : Sail Bluesea and Phil Wingate
Siblings : Carly Wingate {younger sister}
Personality : Elegant, Party Animal and Noble
Position : Midfielder
Teams : Shuriken (6) {Captain}
Element : Air
Salis is the first daughter of Sail Bluesea and Phil Wingate. She is ‘Daddy’s girl” and wants to play in the same style as her father. The only difference is that she does that playstyle as a Midfielder rather than a Forward : she lets her younger sister in that position because she knows how powerful she is as a Forward. Upon learning about her parents’ story, she believes she is the main reason why they are reunited in the first place.
Carly Wingate :
Full name : Carly Samira Wingate
Nickname : Carry
Gender : Born Female, Non Binary
Birthday : December 31st
Zodiac Sign : Capricorn
Height : 5′5″ (165 cm)
Weight : 115 lbs (52 kg)
Nationality : Japanese
Parents : Sail Bluesea and Phil Wingate
Siblings : Salis Bluesea {older sister}
Personality : Adventurous, Curious and Humble
Position : Forward
Teams : Shuriken (10)
Element : Air
Carly is the second and last daughter of Sail Bluesea and Phil Wingate. She is more like Phil in terms of personality but she is also very adventurous, hence why she became a Forward. Despite their different personalities, she gets along very well with her older sister Salis and they make a good duo nonetheless.

to reblog below
actually yeah, let's stop the cap - no fucking way adult Obito is getting recognized by anyone (especially Gai of all people). not after growing up from a little 13 year old twerp into a grown ass man (who is like 30 cm taller than the last version everyone knew) who also got splattered by 5 tons of rocks, got injected with nanomachines, son Hashirama cell's twenty times over and overall looks like someone chewed on him for a good while. like, even people who had not gone through as severe physical changes as him barely resemble themselves from 20 years ago as young teens. I'd even go ahead and say the heavy lifting in 30 year old Obito's resemblance to his younger version does the haircut.
which reminds me but what the fuck was Kishimoto doing with everyone's favorite asshole's haircut throughout the 298616382824 bajillion flashbacks he was involved in
- the original buzzcut that baby Obito seems to have for the entire life before the involunterary kiss with the rocks, ends at about 13 years old
- the depressed dumpster critter one aka the long-haired one after he spent a few months in Madara's cave of divorce and misery. yes, it was months because the timeline does not allow even like a god damn year, which raises the question as to how the fuck does his hair grow this fast. and the explanation is either Konoha's hairdressers lived off entirely from this little orphan's funds or Hashirama cells are actually very good for your hair growth.
also in general why did Obito not get his hair cut in that period. I get that he personally was probably too paralyzed to do this, Madara was too busy sleeping on the life support, but you've got like a thousand Zetsus roaming around, give the scissors to one of them. You've already told them your name, your friends' names, their home adresses and ninja registration numbers, your taxpayer number, the code to Uchiha family safe and the password to your Ipad, at this point Guruguru armed with a pair of scissors is the least of your troubles
- then for some fucking reason Obito cuts his hair specifically for the Konoha attack. which wasn't even supposed to happen, the plot just landed him an opportunity to start shit with Konoha (because this was absolutely not for the sake of the capture Tailed Beasts thing, nothing was fucking prepared for that one yet).
- then we are back to the depressed dumpster look in Kisame's flashback with Obito speedrunning the worst Kage rule category. which is. well, at least I see some point in the uncut hair, he was probably too busy minmaxing how many people he could kill in Kirigakure. nothing conclusive as to what exact age we are seeing him in that point, but it's somewhere between the Konoha attack and the next major flashback
- still rocking the depressed dumpster look as he meets Itachi and massacres the entire clan👍and least now we're being consisent
- but then immediatelly we are in Tobi era and the buzzcut is back. for some reason. I guess to fuck with Kisame and Itachi or smth. "mwahahahaha they'll NEVER guess who I am". which worked on Kisame, sure, but anyone who is not a depressed (blue) himbo would probably connect the only orange-masked one-eyed black-haired dude in the vicinity to the murderhobo introducing himself as Madara

Its kinda funny that the naruto fandom when presented with dozens of effectively blank slate female characters in the form of the various throw away mothers in the series, and by and large they collectively lumped them together into a generic perfect mother figures amorphous blob in fan characterizations. the abused or long suffering perfect victims in light of their husbands stupidities/abuses.
and thats boring. dont give me yet another karura who angelically smiles in blood soaked pain as shes forced into turning one of her children into a jinchuriki.
give me a karura who willingly goes along with the plan, one who also sees the dire economic strains sunagakures fallen into and per the blind shinobi demagoguery agrees that only a jinchuriki can change their villages prospects. or hell, consider gaaras sand. if it was always infused with karuras love as opposed to shukakus/the ichibeis power, what does that say about the kind of love karura infused into it? a sand that violently lashed out, maimed and killed without distinction at the smallest hint of a threat regardless of its veracity? I honestly wouldn't be surprised if people hand waved away that line about gaaras sand [outside of forgetting about it anyways], because of those implications it raises about karuras love. that its not just some idealized perfect clean form of love, but a violent almost possessive one unwilling to broke challenges or threats to what it thinks is right. that in trying to protect him, karuras love ended up smothering and isolating gaara before snowballing into the misery young gaaras life would become. i would certainly argue kishimotos unwilling to interrogate these implications anyways.
anyways, this is to say that my new headcannon of karura is not of some demure flower, but rather a twitchy elite jounin hopped up on an endless amount of coffee, trauma and hair trigger murderous reflex impulses. a woman who, when presented with her husbands bad ideas does not softly rebuke them but instead doubles down on them because its go big or go home when you live in sunagakure the shittiest village of the big five hidden villages. and aint that saying something when "caught in perpetual civil wars cause they can't stop murdering their own citizens" kirigakure exists.
#naruto#karura#rasa#gaara#sunagakure#chiyo was probably like “okay when the childs born i'll apply the seal”#and karura was probably like “nah fam were applying that seal now well im still pregnant cause that will surely make it even better”#expert iyro nin karura who has no idea how fuinjutsu works

National Holidays in the Ninja Villages + Bonus
I've had this idea in mind for a while, and now I finally got to write it down. Feel free to use these for your own works. Please tag me so I can read em all! <33
Iwagakure: The Lunar Lights of Gratitude The moon has a special place in the heart of every Iwa citizen. To them, it is a part of the earth, now observing its mother body from space. So naturally, the spectacle of a blue/super moon is a special occasion in Iwagakure. To honor and greet the moon, which is actually called "daughter" in the earth country's language, large fireworks are organized every new moon after a blue moon. As previously established, the earth country's firework industry is the largest, which Iwa shinobi are very proud of. Lighting the sky on fire and turning night into daytime is the Iwa way of giving back some of the light that the moon gives us at night.

Kirigakure: The Moonshine Sea Festival Despite the rivalry between the land of earth and the land of water, there is one thing they have in common, which is their spiritual connection to the moon and space. To water country citizens, especially the fishermen, the moon is a protector and guardian of the night, along with the stars. They strengthen the their connection to their biggest source of both faith and fear: the sea. The special climate in the water country, combined with its great biodiversity give a great habitat for biolumescent plankton, turning the sea itself into a starry night sky. It is one of the only pieces of culture that has been preserved, since the celebration itself was founded by the water country's union of fishermen, who don't belong to a particular clan with a kekkei genkai; most of the kekkei genkai wielders in Kiri have been wiped out, along with their culture, traditions and religions.

Sunagakure: Winter's Return The wind country is often ravaged by agonozingly hot summers, sand storms and heat waves are not a rarity in this country. While foreigners might groan and roll their eyes at the thought of the return to cold, foggy winter days, in Sunagakure it is a day for celebration. On the day where the sun stays for the longest, in the middle of the year, a large celebration is held across the nation. The way it is celebrated is different from family to family, and every Suna family is convinced that their way is the right one. Typically, markets are closed the whole day, and any missions rank B or below are halted for the day.

Kumogakure: Whale Festival of Generosity During winter, whales can be found emigrating along the lightning country's coast line, towards the land of iron. This holiday once came to be to celebrate the whales emigration towards a more prosperous habitat to mate and provide enough food for their young - a truly generous gesture. Over the years, many kumo shinobi have forgotten the old tale behind this festival, and it has turned into more of a mere gift giving occasion. And yet, it is widely popular and celebrated throughout the whole country.

Konoha: Cherry and Plum Blossom Viewing In Konoha, Hanami is annually celebrated. It is a custom celebrating the transitionary nature of cherry and plum blossoms blooming in spring.

BONUS: Uchiha Clan Honoring one's ancestors and traditions is of high importance to the Uchiha. Every year, on a clear fall night, the whole clan gathers together to light up little candles using their katon. The tealights are arranged in the Uchiha crest and left to light up the night and the clan share the evening together eating dinner, drinking hot tea and praying at the nakano shrine.
That's all, folks!

The idea: HCS for some of the older characters reacting/dating hcs to the cram school! reader liking them.
Basically: if all of the cram school students are OF AGE, how would these characters react?
The list(Blue Exorcist):
Shiro Fujimoto, Mephisto, Lucifer, Juzo Shima, Satan, Shura Kirigakure, Mamushi Hojo, Yuri Egin
Hi Anon! Thank you for your request! Sorry it took so long. I hope you like the headcanons.
Fandom: Blue Exorcist
Characters: Lucifer, Shura Kirigakure, Mamushi Hojo x gn! Reader (Separate)
I've actually just answered a request asking for relationship headcanons for Shiro, Mephisto, Juzo, Satan, and Yuri which you can find here!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
General dating headcanons for the Blue Exorcist characters.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Lucifer is a very intense partner. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it is something to be aware of when in a relationship with him.
When he loves, it’s complete and all consuming. He will do everything to protect you from his enemies and, even at times, his allies.
Sometimes this can come across as smothering but Lucifer also respects you completely. If you ask him to back off and let you live your own life, he’ll do just that. But he will always keep a close eye on you. If anything were to happen to you, he would never forgive himself.
If you’re not an exorcist or part of the Illuminati, he’ll do his best to keep you away from the coming war. He might teach you how to defend yourself, just to know you can defend yourself.
On the other hand, if you’re already involved, Lucifer likes being able to discuss plans and ideas with you. He’s got a lot of responsibility on his shoulders and having you there helps ease the weight.

If you’re in a relationship with Shura, you’re certainly going to be going on a lot of adventures, both exorcist related and not. She’s a party animal and likes excitement.
If you’re not into that sort of stuff, she’ll respect that but she’d love it if you’re willing to be with her when she gets to properly relax and let her hair down (more than usual of course).
Shura’s a super supportive partner in all aspects. Need some words of affirmation about your outfit? You’ve never looked better in her eyes. Want her to look over your latest project? It’s looking good!
As energetic as she is, she also loves spending quiet time with you. She enjoys the peace you bring her and hopes she brings you peace in those moments as well.
I feel like Shura puts up a front a lot of the time, hiding her true self behind her overly bubbly personality. But with you, she can be honest, letting her walls down and knowing you’ll still care for her nonetheless.

Okay, Mamushi is an interesting case. She’s probably not going to react the best if you tell her about your feelings for her out of nowhere but if you give her some time to calm down, she will certainly reciprocate.
I see her as someone who is very much a fan of subtle declarations of affection. She likes it when you put your shoes next to hers when you take them off and when you link your pinkies together while walking.
Big declarations still intimidate her a bit and she’s not great at expressing her own feelings but she’s trying her best.
I feel like Mamushi hasn’t had a lot of experience with relationships before so she isn’t really sure how fast or slow it should progress. You’ll have to be the one to set boundaries or ask her to do things so she knows.
She’s also very much someone who, even though it takes a while for her to develop feelings, once she cares about someone, she’s with them for the long run.

Naruto Modern AU/Hollywood pt.12 - Kisame has Kids... & Kiri's Romantic Dynamics

The picture above shows the entire Hoshigaki Family.
Starting from the right:
(25yo) SHIZUMA. swimmer.Nelo baby, influencer. shizuma is a self made "outcast" because of his self made rivalry with his dad when he did not experience a bad "first born syndrome". Maybe would have a better relationship with his parents if he stopped crashing his carS (Kisame bought for him) and picked up the damn phone.
MIRU: She is a professional cheerleader for Kiri's basketball. Do not let her height fool you (she is so short compared to the rest of her family) but she could kick the head off a grown man. The cheerleaders undergo a rigorous training that rivals that of the basketball players.

KISAME: Captain of the Swordmen of the Mist (Kiri's basketball team). Aside from descending from a noble clan, he is a honorary representative of the Ministry of Culture of Kirigakure (has a metal for it), so he attends a lot of events that involves the country's cultural expansion/promotion. Off course his background of biology studies helps as he very smart and a great orator. It is almost funny how his underage kids rivals his tall stature (195 cm), they grow so fast.
HE WILL NEVER ADMIT IT BUT he favours his daughter, for having to be the only girl among her 2 brothers. Certified Girl Dad.
(19 yo) KENJI: For some reason, the hair growth gene skipped him as his hair grows so little that he prefers to keep it in a buzz cut. Currently studies overseas (Country of Lightning) as he desires to learn many languages and explore the world. aspiring to become a translator would definietly help as it his dream.
(16yo) AALIYAH. She is very book smart and studious. Science and physics is her thing as she wants to become a marine biologist.

Above, Raiga and his ex-wife Antella Muzukashi.
While they both cant stand each other, you can still catch them together in public events for many reasons.
First, no matter what Antella says, she likes their daughter Buntan and has full custody of her. Yeah, it was to suck Raiga dry when she can provide for her by herself, she is a strategic gold digger after all (sprinkle sprinkle).
Second, well... Raiga still wants to smash (smh). The same lust that got him chasing an Iwa corn star in the first place.
Lastly, their is very old tradition/belief in Kiri regarding being in a relationship...
THE BELIEF OF STRENGTH AND ROMANTIC COMMITTEMENT IN KIRIGAKURE:
Compared to other nations Kiri is weirdly very open about displaying relationship/families in the public eye:
Most public figures operate under HEAVY governmental protection. While it does generate a lot of safety, it also comes with a level of control, especially when it comes to censorship and how they "represent" the country to outsiders. Some can have their children "in the public eye" to some extent without too many issues because punishment for misconduct towards them is so heavy it's not even funny (could result in getting deported/exiled from the country permanently)

Related to the years of war that plagued the country and the toxic patriarchal system that ruled over the country for the longest. Male military culture became entwined with numerous laws and regulations. It later became the social norm.
It was illegal for single men to enter the military or any armed forces. If you were single at entry, you had to promise to officially propose during your service. Why? it was seriously believed that men in a relationship (married or not) were stronger, more disciplined.
Keep in mind your commitment had to be serious and sincere since adultery and marriage contract violations were outlawed and punishable by death in the military (see how it could become tricky for women?)
While great traditions came out of it, like how the proposal ceremony were grandiose and depending on your caste level, these vows are taken very seriously. it didn't stop the already patriarchal sentiment over the country and some devious abuse. Many look at women like human-sized batteries (to the service of men), nothing more, and looove to use this military rule to justify their questionable views/opinions.
It's why public figures in Kiri are expected to be in relationships and will get more elevated if they are. Add points if you have children. Unfortunately, this mentality has opened the door for some homophobia slip in, even if its getting better and the country of water is currently the most accepting/open-minded it has EVER been.

Hii!! I would like to ask if you perhaps have any headcannons or something on sengoku igajima??
Hello there! Thank you for your ask!
...I've decided to look through my old Ina11 docs/notebooks I had as to answer this, but turns out I barely wrote anything with Sengoku Igajima despite -also- being obsessed with them years ago ._.
I'm still able to remember few of the ideas I had, so I'll add them alongside new stuff. It is to say that most of these created alongside my sister; since we used to roleplay stories with Sengoku Igajima together <3
I like to start FF posts talking about their school, but... Until now I haven't thought much were SI could be. In their introduction they're said to be from 'Kinki', an alternate name given to the Kansai region (Where Osaka and Nara are). And the wiki itself also mentions that they could be from the former Iga province -mostly from the name and the referenced ninjas' origins-, which is now part of the Mie prefecture and its name is used for a city.
I personally picture the school being further from being closer to wildnerness, but not neccesarily on tall moutains like Senbayama. Their Matane no Kisetsu picture actually shows what could their village be, buuut it is way too far away. (Thanks again to @ ryuusei-boi for cleaning this up!!!)

Either way... The school itself has been founded and taken care by the "Igajima" family for generations. In origin times it served to help train ninjas during the "Sengoku" period with their own style's ninja arts, but as time passed and warfare changed, the school was forced to adapt into the modern times. Their techniques are still taught nowadays, but the school only allows to openly use them in recreative activities like soccer.
(This is mostly as to avoid getting in conflict with the authorities, because imagine one of these grown up ninjas participating in an assasination...)
The coach of the team is considered to be the current head of the Igajima family, and also the enforcer of the previous rule mentioned earlier. His age is totally unknown, but some on the school spread the rumours of him being around 80 years old age. If that's the case, then did he leave any descendants to take care of Igajima in the future? For now I'll leave it unknown; let's leave VROH to answer that for us.
(The Sengoku part of the name was something added for the school's anniversry after the 2000s, mostly a hommaje to its origins.)
Now, onto the players. I've seen many recent posts with Kirigakure and some with Fuuma; but I haven't seen anything with Hatsutori yet so...
His profile mentions he's the "keyman" that holds their teamwork together; but I think he also plays an important role with the actual relationships. He's the perfect middleman between Saiji -who tends to do things his way- and Koheita -who is strict about following rules and traditions-, and if it wasn't for his presence the team would have had a harder time on the Football Frontier.
Speaking of Fuuma, I like to picture him and Hatsutori having a close relationship, mostly because of them living in proximity by one another and a good relationship between their families. Fuuma tends to be very rigid with his code of conduct, but in few occasions he has agreed to listen to Hanzou's point of view instead.
The final characters I remember are Fujibayashi and Kousaka. They also have lived close since young, though this also means that the two have experienced many of Jin's usual sicknesses. Nagato doesn't mind, and in many occassions he has visited his resting friend as to give him some company.
However, his time at Sengoku Igajima marks a before and after, since Fujibayashi would become more interested on medicine thanks to Jiraiya and his frog oil usage. Similar to the latter he at first focused on traditional remedies, but he eventually switched to the actual medical field.
I like that during GO, he works for a small hospital located on their village, and every so often he visits Jiraiya's shop in search of useful things. Jin has worked there part time, though he is still searching for something to dedicate fully into. At least the support from family and friends has made him never lose his strength.
Apologies for my late reply, my classes started and turned my whole schedule upside down :'D I'll keep searching any old SI stuff I have.
Shoutout to the unnamed managers of the team, though. We decided to ship the both of them with Santa of all people LMFAO (Still a cute concept)

#inazuma eleven#hc:ina11#sengoku igajima#I watched their episode again to gain inspiration AND I FORGOT HOW BADASS THEY WERE#Its sad that they were the first National FF rival yet they raised the bar to an incredible level#Btw.... Can you guess whose people we shipped? (?)#My sister HATED Fuuma because he was often too strict with Sarutobi (Her favorite) but she did tolerate FuuHatsu a bit#And she also gave the Sarutobi family some lore that I cannot remember anymore... RIP#I *think* some of these HCs were also inspired by older SI fancontent I read; but idk if its still up anymore#(Note: I showed SI to my sister after so long because of this post. She called Takigawa a “Lady Gaga” fan (?))

“This is not what we agreed on. Hashirama said…”
“I don’t care what he said!” Madara snapped. “Never mention the name of that man to me!”
Onoki fell silent. He bravely kept Madara’s angry glare for a while before he lowered his eyes.
“I’m not obliged to work on the weekend. If there’s a business need for it, you need to speak with HR first. They have to create a compensation plan that people can sign, but you can’t make us sign it,” he mumbled. [Waiting for You, Waiting for Me, Naruto, Hashirama/Madara]
-
The gods weren’t created equal. Nobody knows this better than Hephaestus does. He is, after all, forever cast to the side, never fully welcomed at the table when the Olympians dine. He has too much fraud with the others, he is considered unpleasant, demanding and imperfect. The last one is his most undesirable trait - in the eyes of the flawless gods and goddesses, his lameness is almost unforgivable. [Equals - Ancient Greek Religion & Lore, Ares/Hephaestus]
-
Madara thinks the world should stop for a minute, to hold its breath, when Hashirama dies. Someone larger than life, someone who shaped the history of the upcoming generations of shinobi is no longer, he ceased to exist. Allies should grieve, enemies should stand shocked by their fortune. People should despair over a future without the God of Shinobi. How can they possibly go on, continue to live their lives as if nothing happened? How is the earth still spinning around the sun? [Our Shattered Pieces (Fit Together so Well) - Naruto, Hashirama/Madara]
-
When Hashirama arrives back to Konoha he feels more dead than alive. Maybe he has died and now it’s only his ghost crawling back to haunt the place of his once-dreams, chained forever to this village. Konoha, a miracle came true. Konoha, that has become Madara’s damnation and along with him, condemning Hashirama as well. [The Moon is Just the Sun at Night, Naruto, Hashirama/Madara]
-
“Hashirama! Where’s that boy disappeared to? Hashirama!”
“Coming, dad, stop yelling!”
“Hurry up, or you will know what yelling really is!”
Hashirama hopped down the stairs to stand in front of his father. Just a few months shy of seventeen, he was already taller than his old man, a gangly teenager with limbs that were still too long, and a posture that always made Butsuma snap “don’t slouch!” at him. [Saturday Night, Naruto, Hashirama/Madara]
-
“An undercover mission?” Kakuzu asked, not even bothering to keep the annoyance out of his voice. “Why us? Blending in isn’t exactly our strong suit.”
“Itachi and Kisame would be more ideal,” Zetsu nodded, grinning. At least his white half grinned. “But everyone would instantly recognise Kisame in Land of Water. This town is close to Kirigakure, too.”
“What’s the task?” Kakuzu asked with a sigh, knowing he wouldn’t like the answer. [Undercover, Naruto, Kakuzu/Hidan]
-
“Hashirama, you know I can’t… with you watching. Turn away.”
“Come on, Madara. It’s not that I haven’t seen it a thousand times by now.”
“This is different. And it certainly hasn't been a thousand times.” [Flow, Naruto, Hashirama/Mada]

“Boss? You better come here to see this.”
Asuma Sarutobi, Chief Investigator at the Homicide Division of the Konoha Police was just about to go outside for a much needed smoke. He repressed a sigh and sank the pack of cigs back into his pocket. It was always easier to just do what Ino said than getting into an argument with her. He walked over to her desk and looked down at the dark and blurry picture on her screen.
“What am I looking at?” [The Thing That Should Not Be, Naruto, Kakuzu/Hidan]

FADE IN:
IZANAGI HIGHLAND - NIGHT
The night is dark and stormy, lightning crisscrosses the sky. Rain starts to pour and into the sound of thunder, the shouts of men mix. The camera slowly leaves the sky to focus on the ground. [Acting Bad, Naruto, Hashirama/Madara and some other pairings]

The Land of Fire was a country that knew suffering. For half a century, war tore the lands apart. The old noble families had lost their influence, and their bickering for power opened the way for more serious troubles. Pitiless mercenary bands were hired by the opposing Lords, fighting against each other and the foreign warlords that tried to take the once-was, legendary wealth of these lands.. After the battles, the armies raided the villages and towns, pillaging and plundering, taking the goods people tried to hide in vain, burning down houses, killing men and violating women. [King of Mine, Naruto, Hashirama/Madara]

Look, a total number of 1 (one) out of ten stories that’s not Naruto! This certainly speaks of my insanity dedication!
The social side of social media has never been my strong suit, but tagging @latart @thedreamermusing @loki-ate-my-sandwich @andreyahalms and anyone who thinks this is fun (it was)
BONUS: start of the current fic that I'm working on. Yes, it's HashiMada and if it feels somewhat similar you aren't wrong - it's a rewrite of Homecoming.
The drums sped up and along with them, so did Madara’s heart. The clapping of the audience grew thunderous, syncing with the ever louder beat. A bead of sweat rolled from under his hairline, down his temple. He wiped it off impatiently. Under his short, black gloves, his fingers were also clammy. It felt like his heart was trying to break free from his chest. It was a lucky thing he didn’t manage to eat anything at all the whole day, as he would likely be throwing up now if he did.

The themes of Naruto and how the fact he and Sasuke are reincarnations/part of a cycle expands on those themes
Some guy was going on about how the reincarnation thing in Naruto was an asspull and when people pulled receipts and showed him panels from part one that hinted at it he maintained that it was still terrible because the whole destiny thing ruined the themes of the manga and I'm here like somebody really read the whole manga yet missed out on the themes of peace through absolute power vs peace through understanding that were key to the whole thing.
The Akatsuki's dream of peace is enforced on the rest of the world through the absolute power of the 9 bijuu powered infinite tsukuyomi. Sasuke chases power in order to avenge his family so he can be at peace + not have the threat of Itachi killing any further family he makes all over again hanging over him. Naruto comes to peace with those around him by understanding them whether or not he considers their past actions forgiveable, he chases Sasuke because he understands that Sasuke's motivation of revenge isn't wrong but the way he's going about it is actively self-destructive and hurts both him and those who care about him.
The whole idea of the villages I think are to show that it's a cycle of hatred, between war and peace, between might making right and compassion being the key and Sasuke and Naruto are symbolically representative of it all!
The theme of generational trauma is also all over the world of Naruto! Whether it's the legacy of the Uzumaki sacrificed to become the jinchuriki of the nine tails, a burden his parents pass onto Naruto; Kakashi's trauma stemming from his father's, Hinata and Neji both innocent kids but who are divided by the toxic customs of their family when they should be like siblings to each other, Hashirama and Madara bearing the weight of the brother war the Senju-Uchiha conflict and how hard it is to achieve peace even in a world where neither side actually wants to fight because of all the history and distrust that's built up, the curse of hatred of the Uchiha stemming from Ootsutsuki Indra's madness and willingness to murder his closest friends for the sake of taking power by force, Obito being taken by his own clan patriarch, hurt when he tries to leave and brainwashed and traumatised into buying into the dream of a perfect world - he literally inherits his hatred for the existing one, Gaara and his siblings lives effected by their father's actions but also by the custom of jinchuriki being created in the first place, the children of Ame all orphaned by war, Kaguya the enslaver, Kaguya the dictator, leaving a fragment of her will called Zetsu aka 'tongue' that continues to spread hatred, fear and prejudice and divide the people hundreds of years on. Haku experiencing the results of both the ninja world 'shinobi are tools' belief system and the prejudice of Kirigakure towards those with bloodline limits when he's a child too young to fully understand either with Zabuza the demon of the bloody mist who killed all his classmates to end kiri's killer graduation exams once and for all who can't bring himself to express his genuine love for Haku until he's already dead. I mean I could go on but you get the point.
The reincarnation thing emphasises the themes of Naruto which are generational trauma, the power of brotherhood/friendship and peace through absolute power vs peace through understanding and last but not least endurance in the face of a hopelessly cynical world: aka The will of fire, the will/resolve to keep trying to improve things even a little for the sake of the next generation, to refuse to give up even when it appears hopeless. Like say when you've just gotten your ass kicked by an army of zombies, the remainder of Akatsuki, Obito, Zetsu and Uchiha fucking Madara, you've failed to stop the moon's eye plan and suddenly, things get worse and a literal all powerful Goddess descends on you when you're already exhausted and the rest of the army is comatose.
#naruto#this has been an entirely unsolicited meta#but if you wanted to hear my opinion here it is#thoughts#phantom babbles#meta#naruto meta#me on kaguya: she is sealed away but leaves behind her dangerous and hateful rhetoric#she descends on the world again when everyone is suppressed by an absolute power that gives the illusion of perfection#and strips them of their autonomy/ability to fight back#HOW IS THIS NOT CLICKING AS A METAPHOR FOR TYRANNY ITSELF FOLKS#the world is perfect as is nothing needs to change also for better or worse you don't get to make real choices for yourself now
