indigo park theory: what ARE the mascots?

i've had many thoughts on this since chapter 1 came out, so this will be a long one.

TW for animal cruelty and abuse below.

first off. they are NOT animatronics. uniquegeese has explicitly said that himself on streams, and this is added on by the fact that mollie literally gets decapitated and dies, blood spurting out of her disembodied head. lloyd and mollie also just, generally look a lot more like living, breathing creatures than just some mascot suits or robots with their fur, feathers. as well as being able to blink and emote.

so that begs the question: how do these exist, if they aren't just robots and are in fact flesh and blood? well... judging by some of the context clues we've gotten so far, i think i can make a guess:

Indigo Park created the mascots through animal experimentation and genetic remodelling.

first off, the mascots themselves. at least, in the state they appear in. they are far more reminiscent of wild, feral animals than killer animatronics or toys or what-not from most other mascot horror games. lloyd in particular stands out in this.

when we first find him, he's all curled up asleep on the theatre stage. again, another point to these being living breathing things if they require sleep. only to then run off on all fours as soon as he wakes up and notices ed, then proceeds to stalk them within the backstage. keeping to the shadows and retreating when he's spotted or isn't in position to properly attack, again, like a real lion stalking its prey until it's within striking distance.

lloyd DOES walk on two feet properly, though. primarily when he trots away after first being sighted in the backstage, and later after ed grabs the key, lloyd does physically walk around even though it isn't visible to the player and he despawns after they leave the room with the key until it's time to do the jumpscare.

second, and what i think is most important to answering this question: mollie macaw. it's established in her death screen that she can mimic things that she's heard, including voices, which macaws in real life can also do. and while it's hard to hear them during her chase sequence, she has SEVERAL voice lines that play. most of them are taken from the rambley's railroad ride from earlier in the chapter, but there are several others that seem to be taken from employees or guests before the park's closure. i'll link a video to them here, but the lines i'm referring to in particular are:

"Stay in your seat!"

"I wanna play with the birdie!"

"Don't touch that thing, son..."

"Get up, you stupid freak."

"Get back in your cage, bird."

"The customer is always right."

the two i'm focused on mainly are fourth and fifth ones, which are undoubtedly park employees. calling her a freak, telling her to back into HER cage... paints a very, very unpleasant picture of what's going on. one that is confirmed even more by an easter egg in rambley rush, where if you fall into the fourth pit while moving to the left, you can find a second mollie inside a cage.

verbally abused and caged up... like a mistreated animal.

so... why? why create these "mascots" instead of having employees dress up in costumes like other parks? they clearly intended to at one point, as they had at least produced a costume for rambley before the mascots entered the picture... simple, really. money.

if you were a business and wanted to maximize profits with little morals, why not try and turn animals into your company's characters for your theme park so you can avoid paying your employees a little extra for going around in costume? if companies are willing to replace writers and artists with AI, why not put in a little more effort to create something else to do that job for you instead of having to pay someone else to do it?

but, something happened. maybe one of the mascots finally had enough and attacked an employee or guest? who knows... whatever the case, the park was suddenly and quickly evacuated with the events being covered up.

and the mascots were left to rot. with no humans to supervise them and keep the instructions and training and company-mandated rules drilled into them, combined with the isolation and likely mental toll it took... they regressed. they slowly lost what made them "mascots" in all but appearance, and now? they're animals again. wild, feral animals. ones that don't see a random person as a guest to greet, but as a smaller, weaker animal. a prey.

and with so many years having passed, likely not having much in the way of food outside of any other wild animals that might happen to wander into the park... they're likely very hungry.

Quick Announcement !

So, a lot of people have been asking about the Discord server.

To answer a few questions we decided to make this.

- Will the server be made?: Yes, however, things are coming along slower, due to School and just kind of being burnt out. It should still be done in a couple of weeks though.

- How will I apply and join the server?: Either through a Server Hosting Site, we will put it on [Planning on using Disboard, Top.gg or something like that. Being invited by someone else Or messaging us about it so we can send you the link After you join there will be a Verification through a Ticket once you read the Rules and the Additional Info.

- Has there been any new Sources added to the list?: Yes, a few: Warface; Aeon [By Icerift Freya]; Genshin Impact; Avatar [Na'vi Movies] being the four I can list off at the top of our head atm.

- How many people is the Server expected to start with?: There are a few people who asked about joining the server already and a couple people we know are waiting, so around 10 or maybe a bit less or over.

- What should we know about the Staff?: The staff for now will only consist of us as the owner and a trusted friend, depending on how big the server is gonna get we might open Staff Applications, however for now those are not planned.

- How is the Blacklist of the Server?: We really only have a general one, however some people also tend to censor food for personal comfort. We are well aware that many people don't like food being censored because it hurts those with Eating Disorders, however many of the people who we know and censor them, ourselves included censor them because it personally helps with our own. This isn't expected of everyone however and isn't added to the Blacklist, however many people still do it.

- Age Range of the Server: 16-32, with a separate category for adults and teens. Some people we personally know enough about and have on our other servers with the main Staff, and our sibling system we might also invite, however, those are the only exceptions to this. Because we know enough about them to know they are mature enough for it even if they are younger.

- What kind of Categories is the Server going to have?: To name a few: General Teens Only Adults Only LGBTQIA/Mogai Kins Systems IRLs Agere/Petre/Little Witchcraft Spiritual/Paranormal Religion TW Center [Where things can be more openly talked about, but censors are still needed and P0rn is still not allowed] Bots [Fun/Game ones we could also invite if people want] Journal Category

- Any warnings regarding the Server? Yes, 100%. Some of the Headers are way too bright and are gifs, so we are going to put an Epilepsy warning right away. Some of them might also be a bit Eyestrainy due to the Bright Colours. The Theme of the Server and Headers is also Backrooms, Cryptid, Strange, Cryptidcore, and some other similar ones. So if you don't like Horror Themes or Strange Themes you might not wish to join the server, however, if you don't mind them you are still welcome to join!

The odds of getting eaten by a man-eating monster are low but, in fact, never zero.

"Oh my god!" Your shout seemed to echo across the forest while you and Hendery bolted through the dense wood. "Why did we come here again?!"

"To make out in a secluded area, duh!" Hendery matches pace with you, looking over his shoulder every now and then to see how far the monster was.

"This is what we get for being horny, huh?"

"C'est la vie!"

"I don't think you're using that right," you both turn a corner and continue running. Of course, the one time you needed it to work, Hendery's car decided to stall and die, leading you and him to make this run on foot while the monster, very menacingly, walked toward you both. "Did we lose it?" The not-so-distant howl answered your question. "Oh, we are fucked!"

"We'll be fine!" You and Hendery skid to a stop in front of a dead end. "Nevermind, you're right, we're fucked."

"Christ, Hendery, of all the ways to die, right?" You groaned into your hands. The monster's heavy footsteps become apparent and you both turn over to look at it.

"Who knows, maybe it can be reasoned with?"

"Sure, you try talking to the monster who looks ready for dinner."

"Yeah... uh..." Hendery looks around, as if trying to find some sort of inspiration. "Hey, Mr. Monster," the beast snorts and Hendery swallows down a nervous sound, "look, look, I'm not tasty. I mean, I'm all sweaty from running, my skin's tough from all these gains, and also I'm too gorgeous to be eaten, am I right?" He nudges you.

"What about me?"

"Take them, they're tastier!" Hendery makes a move to run and your jaw drops. "Trust me, I would know!" He bolts and you take off after him.

"Hendery you little-" you run faster and he does too, now escaping your wrath as much as the monster's hunger. "When I get my hands on you Hendery-"

"Save it for when we're out of the forest, baby!"

"That monster is going to be the least of your worries, I swear to god!" You were gaining on him and he ran faster, muttering silent prayers as he did so because only the lord would know that you were right.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck," Hendery keeps cursing to himself as he hops over rocks and twigs, and soon a beacon of hope appeared before him. "Over there! We're almost out of the woods!" And, for a moment, you forgot your own anger and you followed him out and back into society. "We made it!"

"We're alive!" You both hold each other tight and with relaxing muscles, then you push him off. "You're such a dick for that!"

"What? Was I wrong?" He shrugs.

"You are so embarrassing, you told a whole stranger about our sex lives!"

"Hey, whoa, you're the one making assumptions! You know I bite when I get overly-excited!"

"That's true, you do," you nodded, "but still! If I wasn't so pissed I would've- oh my god, if I wasn't so pissed we'd be dead right now."

"Bingo."

"Oh you sly little man!"

"Gotta think outside the box, (Y/N), that's how you survive horror movies."

"I'll give that one to you!" You and Hendery stand still with small smiles. Until you hear the snort of the beast behind you. "It's behind me, isn't it?"

Brief Personality: Aven seems to be very naïve but kindhearted, he is nothing like the rumors spread about him and the horrors he committed during the war. In fact if you didn’t know his title you wouldn’t have known he was a general at all. It seems Aven overcompensates for his innocence being taken away by playing up a faux naïveté. However he does genuinely mean well all things considered.

Brief Backstory:

Aven was born to the founders of the top A.I manufacturing company in the world, basically born with a silver spoon in his mouth. When the incident happened, the inciting war completely ruined Salendine Industries and his parents reputation, most people blamed Salendine for the war due to them making “defective” A.I systems. However Salendine decided to make it up to the world by partnering with the then President. The President ordered them to make a solution for the problem they caused and for the next few years or so they tried everything.

Salendine did a multitude of different experiments in order to try and stop the A.I, they started out with only experimenting on A.I systems to see if there was a way to rewire them into being submissive, however this failed immensely, which made them move into human experimentation.

Salendine most notable experiment of course was on the Presidents child, Alexander Leverett, who ended up becoming the savior of the world, not because of Salendine of course, but still he did. However Alexander was not the only victim of Salendine. Among many of the victims, Aven was also experimented on.

Aven wasn’t particularly special like Alexander was, however he was used to see if there was a way for humans to defeat A.I on their own. They focused on whether or not they could make a human super soldier. They did experiments to see if Aven could learn how to predict the future and they succeeded... somewhat… they didn’t really care about the horrible side effects Aven would have due to his newly found abilities.

Aven was made a General in the army at a very young age and he was great at it, he was able to command armies of humans using his power and was able to siege a lot of A.I bases. Aven does not enjoy or really remember much of his time during the war, a side effect of his power and his trauma is his incredibly poor memory.

Aven knows however due to how people look at him that he did horrible things under the control of Salendine. After the war he hid away from the public, ending up in a mental health facility with Alexander, where he is currently.

Welcome to my page. Posts are related to the Sims 4 game, game play, and more recently storytelling using the Sims 4. I am in the process of trying to clean up the place but the dust bunnies have gone feral. For now, please pardon the mess.

I've gotten a couple posts flagged as mature so I thought it was advisable to put up a warning/ advisory A Fool's Journey: This is a fantasy based story I've been working on for the better part of a year. It will follow the journey of the heroes as they set off on a quest to end a plague, save the realm and learn a bit about themselves along the way. This will have adult themes and imagery. There will be blood, fighting, alcohol, injuries, illness, death, grief, depression, anger, prejudices, bigotry, and probably some other things I may not identify as needing a tag. I will tag these with "XX TW" (subject first, I've read this is the most helpful format).

The "bad guys" are bad, they are not slightly flawed heroes, they do bad things to good people. There will be blood, sometimes lots of it. That said, this is not a horror story, I will not be showing torture or gore. There will be no flashing/ blinking posts. This is a story that is about love but it is not a love story, there will be no spice.

The Children of Callisto: This was my first successful attempt at the Sims 4 History Challenge written by Snowie. The posts span the course of 10 generations and just shy of three real years. When I started there was no story, I have slowly been trying to become a better fiction writer.
