not-too-costly is tough to come across, but i know a couple places!
from cheapest to most expensive ;;
missdurianne on etsy has this fun yellow shirt :3 it's $47 USD, sizes XS-5XL !!
starsalts on etsy has some AMAZING pokemon shirts (+ some other fandoms, like fnaf or katamari)! all their shirts are $50 USD, and have sizes S-2XL.
zealliart on etsy has a couple fun shirts! 90s nostalgia, rats, d&d ... etc!!! all are $55 USD, sizes XS-5XL.
androgynous fox has a couple! most of their button ups r a little boring, but i like this fish one!! as of writing this, its currently on sale for $19 USD !! thats Crazy!!! their shirts r typically $50 to $60 USD, sizes XS-4XL.
peau de loup has some fun ones! i personally really like rascals :D their shirts are around $68, and have sizes XS-2XL!
genderfreeworld has got a couple good ones, all around $74 USD i think!! my favorite is this cat one :3 genderfreeworld has a cool way of doing sizes -- going off four different body shape templates, and then sizing to match. sizes vary off the body shape, but are typically between XXS-4XL
WILDFANG MY BELOVED !!!! they're on the WAY more expensive side of things ($84 USD, though they usually have sales going on), but they have a lot of different cool button ups! the empower button up has a much softer feel, while the essential button up has the more typical texture of a button up shirt. both come in a variety of patterns, and the patterns vary in sizing -- but typically they go from XS-4XL.
kirrin finch is one i'm less familiar with, but i've heard good things! they're pretty expensive (button ups r $95 USD, but currently on sale for $65), buut they have some fun patterns! my personal fav is this shark shirt :3 their sizes are XS-5XL !!
there are probably more, but idk! as a fat trans guy, i've had a lot of experience looking for these kindsa shirts lol.
just a couple years ago, there weren't NEARLY as many as the ones i've shared with you today. or at least, if there were, they were much harder to find. thankfully, the world seems to slowly be getting better with that. i hope some of these can help you out :3
does anyone know where i could buy some short-sleeve button-up shirts with neat patterns that aren't too costly? i'd love to add some to my wardrobe considering i only have one

UK FOLLOWERS HEADS UP!
I just stumbled across an awesome clothing site for my fellow trans people/enbies/generally fashion fabulous peeps!
They seem like a great company, they are uk based and committed to “slow fashion” so their clothes are made to last!
It’s also like the first time I’ve not felt dysphoric about an online clothes shop! They’ve got different styles of shirt for different body types and they are all named in a very neutral way.
And for my fellow larger chested peeps, it seems like a lot of the shirts have a hidden button to stop the dreaded gaping hole between buttons appearing which I’m super excited about!!!
Their stuff’s kinda pricey but it seems like you get what you pay for! Also there is a section on the website advertising an fb group selling “pre-loved shirts” which is great if you can’t splash out on a new one!
And...
Unisex undies!!!!!
Anyway, definitely check out the site and maybe share it around!

Hi Naf! I was wondering if you knew of any stores where I can buy "men's clothes" in smaller sizes? I am AFAB and only 5'4 on a good day, so "men's clothes" are always far too big on me and usually the ones aimed at teens are a bit too childish for my liking (I like business casual ~ formal)! Hope life has been treating you well! :)
Hm unfortunately I can’t think of any off the top of my head, but try checking out this answer from a lil bit ago and lemme know if that helps you!!
If you’re into business casual and formal styles, a lot of the clothes will be on the higher end, price-wise. The key for you will be to familiarize yourself with your measurements and invest! A good suit in your favorite color will do wonders and provide more variety than you might think!
You might want to check out brands like WILDFANG and GenderFreeWorld for more friendly options, or start looking into online tailors like Indochino or iTailor.(though warning I’ve never bought anything from any of the above stores, so I can’t personally recommend them! I just know OF them and/or have been wanting to try them out myself)
Again, your options are going to be pricier due to the style you’re aiming for, but if you equip yourself with the right essentials, you’ll hopefully be getting a few key pieces and sprucing them up with smaller (less expensive) items.
Hope these resources help you and that you have fun!

A list of possible resources (disclaimer most if not all of these are not cheap but are small queer owned business and most donate to a variety of important causes so check out their about pages):
Both & Apparel : made for transmascs by transmascs it might be worth having a few staples from them (I would lean towards the tank top and the crop top and a pair of pants personally but obviously up to you) they're mostly plain which makes it easy to accessorize
GenderFreeWorld : again made by and for queer people (as well as for cis straight people because as the name suggests, the gender shouldn't matter, the fit, style, and your comfort should). Some of their shirt patterns are definitely giving the 80's bowling alley carpet vibe though! They have also done some collaborations with Both&
Mars Wright : also made by and for trans people. He sells art as well as clothing but I think the patterns will fit the vibe you're going for at least somewhat. Many of these designs are out and proud trans designs so that's important to remember if you're closeted or stealth.
The Rainbow Store : for queers by queers. Includes both subtle and loud pride designs in a variety of styles and identities. Encourages customers to reach out if their identity isn't represented so that they can make a design that makes them feel represented. They also have a blog with useful tips for dressing particular ways and brands that work well for those styles
Hope and Harmony : this is a decidedly more femme resource but has some really cute shirts with bold and powerful pro-queer statements (I particularly love the pink triangle design)
Wildfang : these guys are more expensive than the others on the list but they have a huge variety and are certified climate neutral!
Kingdom : most of their stuff is upcycled! Their genderfree clothes especially feel like they fit with the vibe you're aiming for I think
The queerest gear : lots of patches and buttons that would be fabulous for a battle/patch jacket or crust pants. Also some tees and sweatshirts
Lonely kids club : most of their stuff reads like a tumblr shitpost please just check it out
MegEmiko : cute sweaters and tees!!!
Flavnt : a lot of these word work well with the punk vibe but some are a bit softer
The phluid project : check out their genderfree stuff please!!! You will not regret it!!!
Rodeoh : definitely a more explicit resource but check out their ftm guide for information on binding/taping/packing and more!
Lastly! For the punk part I highly recommend looking up diy tutorials for making patches, patch jackets, crust pants, spikes, jewelry, etc. It's always cheap and it the most authentic punk out there! Try to learn hand sewing! Dye things or bleach them! Add spikes to a thrifted jacket! I like to mix in cheap or thrifted band tees! I'll wear lipstick and eyeliner with a masc outfit for a femme flair or all black except I bright pink accessory!
Layers things! Wear them in ways them weren't meant to be worn (if I had a nickel for every time I put a skirt over my head to be a shawl/poncho instead and people loved it, I'd have two nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice) create unusual silhouettes and most importantly don't let anyone tell you what you can and can't do!
Also, definitely check out @genderpunks it has a lot of awesome stuff on their blog and in hir shop and I bet you could shoot him an ask to see what other resources they might recommend!!!
I'm in the process of transitioning as a transmasc person and I DESPERATELY want to have a cute wardrobe but the thing is I have NO fucking clue how to style an outfit for my body type and general aesthetic
Google and pintrest have been supremely unhelpful when I'm looking for something vaguely along the lines of "fashion for a queer transmasc person leaning slightly on the feminine side but punk and also maybe along the same vibe as an 80s bowling alley carpet but maybe also some softer more pastel and casual stuff and it has to fit and look good on my dumpy little oompa-loompa body that has more torso than leg and fucked up hip bones that jut up too high"
If anyone has any ideas or resources they use that they can share that'd be great, I'm too gay to just keep wearing the same jeans, t-shirts, and thrift store Hawaiian shirts, I wanna look cute bitch 😫

Working Towards a Comprehensive List of Clothing Not Traditionally Ascribed to a Single Binary Gender
Hey, everyone! It’s your favorite nonbinary pal Lynn, and I’m working on a project. What project, might you ask? I’m working on compiling a list that is as comprehensive as possible of clothing that is traditionally viewed and sold as “unisex.”
Note that I will be omitting any very local studio-only brands unless you specify which city/ies they are available in. This list aims towards accessibility for the maximum amount of people.
Why? Because I thought that it might be a useful resource for: •androgynous-presenting nonbinary folk such as myself (self-explanatory) •closeted trans people (because it is often easier to pass clothing sold as unisex by strict/transphobic parents/employers/etc. than it is than clothing marketed towards another gender) •questioning people
What can you do to help?
Please reblog this list with any and all additions and suggestions!
Items I am currently aware of:
•Converse/All Star sneakers (sold as unisex on their website •genderfreeworld is a somewhat pricey but very accommodating option for UK-based folks and nearby. •most pairs of overalls (Amazon is your friend!! So are Allegro and Ebay!) •many fandom/graphic/“nerdy” tees, often available affordably online (or at Walmart/Auchan/larger Tesco stores! Lots of sales at Walmart and the quality ain’t bad in any I’ve checked), unless they’re specifically feminine-cut (i.e. cap sleeves and/or v-neck, tailored, etc.) Easily passable as a gender-neutral style choice. •sweatshirts from many of the previous point’s online stores are your friends, and often unisex. So are windbreakers, but it will take some looking to find them as unisex in physical stores. •many coats at Wholesale Jackets (USA, I believe) are marked unisex.

Hi there! I work freelance for genderfreeworld and I was wondering if we could do a style inspiration piece with you for their newsletter? We could send you a shirt and have you style it, write about it a bit and jazz it up? Let me know what you think! Thank you, Suzie x
Hi Suzie, thanks for your interest! Let me know how I can back to you and we should talk in private. Cheers x

This brand is too good for people who have too much appreciation for outerwear clothing since this is what this brand is all about. Too good is a unisex outerwear brand which has always been instilling to their clients the  English countryside look. At the same time, it also never failed to provide their clients the modern feeling through its shapes and drapes incorporated in their garments. This brand is really an epitome of the juxtaposition of modernity with a traditional feeling.
