MFW the show for my newest project gets canned just as I start work. A couple weeks ago I realized that I already have most of the supplies for making Princess Brea, and now today Netflix has cancelled #thedarkcrystalageofresistance . While I'm kinda heartbroken it's not getting picked back up, it's reassuring that Henson Studios still has plans to keep telling the story, one way or another! And not getting another incredible season doesn't mean I'm dropping this project, hence the late night wig and ear test, since my ears from @aradanistudios came in the other week, and I have fabric on the way! As a huge fan of the original film, having watched it an insane number of times as a kid in the 90s, I was so excited for this new series and with the incredible craftsmanship, artistry, puppets, and story it did NOT disappoint. • ((Possible spoilers)) Seladon is complicated and arguably one of the more interesting characters in this story. I find myself so frustrated and angry with her and yet so sad for her too. She’s a product of her deeply deceived and indoctrinated society. Princess Brea, Gelfling, Hero and a giant book worm 💪🏻🍃🌸 Yay I did it! I made some make shift gelfling ears out of the inside of a pair of trousers and then used foundation to shade them 💪🏻💪🏻😂 I’m so strange! Anywayyy hope you like it! I freaking love how I did the makeup! I didn’t want it to be too creepy as the puppetry is a little strange and wouldn’t suit a normal face, soo I focussed more on enhancing the features I have similar to a gelflings, so I over exaggerated my eye size and lip size and made my nose smaller with contour 😊😊 Hope you like it! Succumb to The Darkening of the Crystal 💎 More images to come this weekend, of my Goblin Princess fairy wings in a new film color!! Should I call it Dark Crystal? Though these aren't any of the wing designs from the movie or the show, they are one of the designs most influenced by Brian Froud's faeries, as were the retired Kira wings and the Nightshade design that branched off from them. This color with the holes & tatters make these wings remind me of a rogue gelfling who has been infected by the darkening, and I still have Dark Crystal fever after binging the new @thedarkcrystalageofresistance prequel 🤩 Really, I've made no secret that Brian's faeries and his creations that make up the world of Thra (and Labyrinth) have shaped my definition of faerie since I was a kid and to me, that's what faeries must look like and I'm convinced that family has a direct line to faerieland. It makes me so happy to have that world come back to us, taking us deeper into it, with the whole family overseeing its new incarnation & @tfroud heading the team of artists bringing characters we love back to life - and introducing new ones that are now just as beloved! It's a bright spot in a pretty dark world we're experiencing right now and I want to thank them for that 💗 I could gush all night about it but I'll leave more for another post.
