me: did you take care of building a shelter the hawk can't get into, so the new ones won't just become hawk lunch again?
fb lady: I am building one, but the builder is sick so it's not like he can finish the roof and how dare you assume they don't have shelter and also the chicken the hawk got today was a rooster so he's doing his job protecting my flock
me: ...I didn't assume, I asked you, and you literally just told me no they don't have appropriate hawk-proof shelter so....
#also it's not the rooster's job to protect the flock when there's a KNOWN predator around#it's YOUR JOB to protect them once you are alerted to the presence of a predator#it's his job to die first if you don't know there's a predator sure#especially in the wild where protecting the hen means protecting his bloodline#but like#in captivity? absolutely not#it's only his job until you find out there's a predator#then it's YOUR JOB AS THEIR OWNER#geezus
