I was tagged by @thecrimsonknight @vmplvr1977 and @hevkomlezkru to to post my lockscreen, the last song I listened to, last picture I took, and the last movie I watched. Thanks for the tag 💜
My lockscreen is a couple selfie of my wife and me with Mount Fuji in the background. Even though we don't live in Japan anymore, that's where we met, so it has a special place in our hearts and we try to go back from time to time.
The last song I listened to was Say (All I Need) by OneRepublic. It's part of a "Vampire Diaries Best Songs" playlist on Spotify, because I secretly like that show and the soundtrack is pretty awesome.
The last picture I took... Great now I'll look like a geek 😅. It's a picture of the intro of Warcraft III Reforged that I sent to my brother to let him know I bought it a couple of days ago. I played the original A LOT when I was in high school, and he played it even more, so it's one of the many things that connect us. He recognized it instantly btw, so he's an even bigger geek.
And the last movie I watched was Un Homme à la Hauteur (Up for Love in English) on Netflix. A French comedy about a woman who hits off on the phone with a charming man and decides to meet him, but when they do, she finds out he's very short (1m36, I'll let my American friends convert that hehe). It's predictable but nice, and I like the two main actors. I barely watched any French movie for years when I lived abroad, so it's nice to catch up from time to time with what I've missed.

Some episodes about Kokushō Sayuri during her Onyanko Club days.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okuda Mika, membership number 1, who was fired for smoking, apparently loathed Kokushō Sayuri. A guy who was a classmate of Okuda's at Tokyo Metropolitan Kurume High School testified that she told him so clearly.(2ch2 911) Kokushō was fully involved in short distance track and field in junior high and high school.(OnyankoD P32) Although, her best 100m record was 12.8 seconds, which wasn't a great number. With this background, she was naturally the type of girl who places great importance on hierarchical relationships.(OnyankoC P132) Therefore, if Okuda, a yankee who was one year younger than Kokushō, had directed her cheeky behavior toward Kokushō, it's quite possible that Kokushō would have given her a stern warning about it. Alternatively, it's possible that when Kokushō ran into Okuda smoking, she warned her about it. Okuda may have resented either or both of them. In addition, Okuda may have been extremely jealous that Kokushō, an unsophiscated country girl, won the beauty contest on the TV show "All Nihgt Fuji high school girl special" rather than herself. This seems to be the biggest reason for Okuda's resentment toward Kokushō.
Kokushō often used masculine language in her daily life, and the program staff and members were apparently freaked out by it.(OnyankoA P67) One of Yūyake Nyan Nyan's advanced directors, Sakama Kazuo, testified that Kokushō was second only to chief director, Kasai Kazuji, in being feared.(OnyankoC P132) The following episode is typical of her character.(OnyankoC P132) There were many teenage boys called kameko (meaning“photography geek”) who followed their idols everywhere they went and constantly photographed them back then. One time, when Kokushō was reading a magazine in a bookstore, a kameko was photographing her from a relatively short distance away. Noticing this, she sneaked around behind the boy and tapped him on the shoulder. "What the fuck are ya doin'?” she angrily asked the boy, but he was too freaked out to say anything. Shortly thereafter, she took the film out of his camera and ruined it.
Back-alley rumors also accompanied Kokushō. Several weekly magazines, including the infamous Shūkan Bunshun, reported the outrageous rumor that she was an outcall escort in her hometown before she became a member of Onyanko Club.(Geinōkai P88) She was forced to retire from athletics during her junior year of high school due to an injury. After that, in reaction to her previous stoic lifestyle, she apparently spent some time playing around town. Many of her friends were also yankee-looking girls in appearance. Some photo magazine declared a reward of 10 million yen (then-$200,000) to anyone who provided a photo certifying that she was an outcall escort.(Geinōkai P88) However, since not a single such photo was ever made public, nor was there any concrete testimony to support the claim, it's very possible that the story was made up by the weekly magazines after all.
Kokushō was blatantly slammed by the newspaper Mainichi Shimbun just after graduating from Onyanko Club.(Geinōkai P87) The article, after branding Kokushō a beautiful idol(as a false image) of modern times and accusing her of DQN words and deeds, concluded with the following sarcastic comment.(Rumors P153) "In the entertainment industry, so-called idols are likely to be treated as consumables, but I hope that she, a beautiful idol(as a false image), won't soon turn into stardust". It was unprecedented for an idol to be slammed on the front page of a quality paper rather than a tabloid. According to the journalist who wrote this defamatory article, she didn't greet him properly and took his interview while brushing her hair.(Rumors P153) Furthermore, he was stunned to learn that she read neither books nor newspapers and showed no interest in social trends. To this journalist, writer Ishimaru Genshō argued as follows.(Rumors P153) "There's no way you can understand a woman's true nature after meeting her only once, so don't assume that you know her very well. Even if it's true that Kokushō's attitude wasn't so good, it was only toward this journalist. In fact, when I interviewed her in the studio of Yūyake Nyan Nyan, she was fantastic. This guy is like a fucking bitch to write such a thing in a quality paper without a care in the world, write it in your own diary instead. She's not the type of woman who reads someone's face or mood, so she may seem selfish at times. However, what's wrong with that? He's probably surrounded by suck-up women, so I'm pretty sure he must have been freaked out when he met a woman like Kokushō who clearly expressed her true feelings without hesitation." On the other hand, Kokushō herself was very damaged by the article, but admitted that she was at fault for giving the journalist a bad impression.(DUNK8710 P128)
Kokushō admitted to having a very jealous personality.(DUNK8710 P128) During her Onyanko Club days, she was tremendously hostile toward the members who debuted as solo singers. She was especially irritated that Nitta Eri, who seemed to have little motivation, was the most popular. She was extremely jealous whenever idol magazines gave the other members larger coverage than they did to her. Kokushō didn't seem to get along well with Watanabe Minayo, who was also a member of CBS Sony, as was she. Watanabe subsequently told a TV show called Emi Channel that she hated Kokushō cuz she'd been bullied by her back then. Some say that Watanabe's elder sister complained to Burning Production, Watanabe's agency, that if they didn't stop the bullying by Kokushō, she would force her younger sister to leave the agency. Yumioka Mami, membership number 34, complained several times that she was often bullied during her Onyanko Club days. Some claimed that Kokushō was the main culprit, but Yumioka herself didn't name the members who bullied her specifically. Kokushō clearly recognized Watanabe, one of the most popular members, as a rival and may have felt intense hostility toward her. Contrary to this, it's very doubtful that she was aware of the less popular and lower-ranking members like Yumioka as her rivals.

Shin Ultraman - Epic and Nostalgic! 10/10!
Shin Ultraman finally arrives in my country for a special two days screening as part of ODEX Film Festival - Anime Matsuri. Was luck enough to get a seat even though it’s at the front row as the tickets were selling out fast!
Words can’t describe what I feel, it’s epic and nostalgic. It’s like watching something familiar yet fresh and new. The characters, the fight scenes, the soundtrack, the atmosphere, the cinematography is just awesome.
Tumblr media
The producers stayed true to the original classics in many aspects with some minor changes to make it more realistic. I actually like that you can feel the weight and bulkiness of Ultraman and the Kaijus, like Pacific Rim.
Tumblr media
Masami Nagasawa’s character never fails to crack me up in every drama and film she’s in. She has similar vibes as Akiko Fuji, with similar level of energy, mannerism and sarcasm but with a touch of badassery.
Tumblr media
Hidetoshi Nishijima plays the cool headed Captain like Muramatsu Toshio. Like every drama and film he’s in so far, he has that commanding presence and seriousness which makes you think twice about getting on his bad side.
Tumblr media
Takumi Saitoh plays Ultraman himself and like Shin Hayata, he too is a man of few words and his opposite personality with Masami Nagasawa’s character is fun to watch like seeing Hayata and Fuji interacting.
Tumblr media
Daiki Arioka and Akari Hayami plays the team’s geek squad like Mitsuhiro Ide, the brains behind the operation. I actually like the team’s chemistry, like Ultraman 1966, there are some comedic moments as well.
I hope you’ll be able to watch it in your country soon one day and see how spectacular it is! After seeing this and Shin Godzilla, I have confidence that they will nail Shin Kamen Rider too. Hopefully, we’ll able to see that next year!
Seeing Japan putting together it’s own Tokusatsu Cinematic Universe is exciting! The remakes are like Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, trying to make it more cool and realistic. That’s all I can say without spoiling!

🔶🔸KIMI NO IRO
Tumblr media
youtube
Nato da un'idea originale della regista, il lungometraggio è sceneggiato da Reiko Yoshida (Ride Your Wave, Violet Evergarden) e in produzione presso lo studio SCIENCE SARU (Inu-Oh, The Tatami Time Machine Blues).
🔶🔸TRIGUN STAMPEDE
Tumblr media
youtube
Realizzato in computer grafica presso ORANGE (Land of the Lustrous, Beastars), questo nuovo adattamento, in chiave moderna e finalmente completo, dell’iconico western sci-fi anni ‘90, è diretto da Kenji Muto (direttore d’episodio in Land of the Lustrous e in Garo: Honoo no Kokuin).
🔶🔸FARMING LIFE IN ANOTHER WORLD
Tumblr media
youtube
La serie andrà in onda dal 6 gennaio 2023 ed è diretta da Ryoichi Kuraya (Tsugumomo) presso lo studio ZERO-G (Science Fell in Love So I Tried to Prove It).
🔶🔸APPARENTLY, DISILLUSIONED ADVENTURERS WILL SAVE THE WORLD
Tumblr media
youtube
La regia e la sceneggiatura sono in mano a Itsuki Imazaki (Hensuki, Ai-Mai-Mi Surgical Friends), che sta supervisionando i lavori in corso presso gli studi GEEK TOYS (Date A Live IV, Hensuki) e SEVEN (Hensuki, Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time: Super Extra).
🔶🔸REBORN TO MASTER THE BLADE
Tumblr media
youtube
L’adattamento della light novel di Hayaken è in lavorazione presso STUDIO COMET (Fairy Ranmaru, Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE!) e alla regia troviamo Naoyuki Kuzuya (Bikini Warriors),
🔶🔸 KIZUNA NO ALLELE
Tumblr media
La regia e la sceneggiatura sono affidate, rispettivamente, a Kenichiro Komaya e Deko Akao (When Will Ayumu Make His Move?).
🔶🔸 SAINT SEIYA: KNIGHTS OF THE ZODIAC
Tumblr media
youtube
Questo ennesimo capitolo del franchise vede cimentarsi alla regia il debuttante Daisuke Sako, mentre la sceneggiatura è a cura di Ichiro Okouchi (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, Lupin III - Ritorno alle origini).
🔶🔸 DETECTIVE CONAN: KUROGANE NO SUBMARINE
Tumblr media

Emotionally
https://ift.tt/2TyXgQ6
The world of Pokémon is a hard and cruel place. It takes a tough Pokémon to stand tough and survive, which doesn’t make it a suprise that some of the most celebrated Pokémon could also be considered the strongest.
For all the lessons of friendship, Pokémon Centers, and jelly donut flavored rice balls, it’s not easy living in the world of Pokémon. In fact, it can be downright cruel for some. That’s why we want to honor an elite selection of Pokémon that are the most powerful, toughest, unassailable, and strongest…emotionally.
Because let’s face it, any Pokémon that can survive fear of death, rejection, imposter syndrome, or questionable hair choices can almost certainly beat Eternatus.
Charmander
Death comes for us all, but Charmanders have it especially rough. It’s been said that a Charmander dies if the flame on its tail is extinguished. That means that a Charmander must live in constant fear of anything that could put out its flame. Water, strong winds, and sand (coarse and rough as it is) kill up to 2000 Charmanders a year (we presume). If only there was a way to donate Pokémon pennies a day and help Charmanders everywhere live free of the fear of death.
Jigglypuff
Rejection. We can all remember times we’ve felt it. Maybe it was a lost crush, not getting that job, or never getting to control the playlist in the car because you once made the mistake of letting “Misty’s Song” play on a road trip and your friends never forgot it. Jigglypuff gets that. Every time it attempts to sing, its audience falls asleep. If a Jigglypuff sings a song and no one is there to hear it, did it ever make a sound?
Dugtrio (Alola Version)
Keeping your hair well maintained is tough even on the best days. Now imagine your defining trait is that you use your entire body to dig out of the ground. How are you supposed to keep those luscious locks full and silky through such a process? I’m bald, so I genuinely have no idea, but Alola Dugtrios have somehow mastered the art. How? If we ever learned their secret, all wars would probably end, all criminal organizations would dissolve, and at that moment, we may understand the secrets of the universe. Or they’d just let us know the name of their stylist.
Team Rocket’s Meowth
How far have you gone for love? Did you walk 500 miles? Did you ride on a piano for 1000 miles? What did you do? I can guarantee it wasn’t anything close to what Team Rocket’s Meowth did when he became the only Pokémon to learn to speak human to impress the lady Meowth he loved. And what did he get for it? He was called a freak.
Team Rocket’s Meowth may fail every week, but he goes on despite the pain. Every day he does, he’s stronger than all of us.
Abra
Multiple years in therapy have taught me you can’t run from your problems; you have to face them head-on. Sure, you can avoid sadness by avoiding problems, but in the process, you run the risk of avoiding happiness. I think about Abra in therapy sometimes because all it can do is escape via teleportation. That its only significant power. The mental walls it must have built up can surely withstand any attack, physical or emotional.
Unless, of course, you play M2M’s “Don’t Say You Love Me” from Pokémon: The First Movie’s soundtrack. That could make a grown Tyranitar cry.
Electrode
One might think that Voltorb could easily share this slot with Electrode, but there’s a key difference. Voltorbs are young and innocent. They haven’t lived enough life to know how sad it is when it all self-destructs on you. Electrodes know. They’ve loved, they’ve lost, they have families, and they have careers. But to self-destruct is what an Electrode must do, and it does it well.
Cubone
Everyone and their Rattata knows that Cubones wear the skulls of their dead mothers. What people fail to consider is that every single Cubone in the world shares that same backstory. Why are all Marowaks eventually killed? Is it the birthing process? What immediately deteriorates their skulls for Cubones to wear? Whatever it is, a Cubone becomes tough as rocks from the moment it’s born, and no one can stand up to a Pokémon that can handle that level of grief.
Or it’s all a big scam. If you look closely, the skull Cubone wears is not an exact replica of a Marowak. What are they trying to hide, huh? Is Mr. Fuji trying to drive tourists to Lavender Town? If that is the case, then Cubones have been running an incredible racket for years and deserve to be on this list solely for the power it takes to deceive everyone in the Pokémon world.

Chansey
“A Machamp who thinks it’s strong has never been a Chansey in a Pokémon center.” – Pokémon proverb (probably).
Chansey must heal hundreds, if not thousands, of sick and injured Pokémon a day. The mental strain they endure must be immense, but Chansey does it all with a smile. That’s powerful. It also has to handle customer service at Pokémon Centers, and that might make it even more powerful. After all, the only thing that’s harder than a battle with a Palkia is dealing with the ninth person today asking to see your Nurse Joy manager.
Staryu
Every time Staryu emerges from its Poké Ball it screams, “HYAH.” Is this a battle tactic to frighten its opponents… or is it something deeper? A cry for help? A plea to stop this senseless conflict? Perhaps Staryu screams hoping the eternal void will scream back.
Mewtwo
Oh sure, you can catch one at level 70 and it already knows the Psychic ability, but that isn’t why Mewtwo is powerful. It’s powerful because it’s burdened with teenage angst. “WHY WAS I CREATED?” it asks. I don’t know, Mewtwo. Put it on your Xanga, I’m trying to play Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater.
When Mewtwo grows up it’ll take some serious time to scrub all that cringe from its social media profiles.
Marill
The year is 1999. Leaked screenshots of a blue Pokémon can be found all over the internet and tales of it spread to schoolyards around the world. Marill, the Pokémon pictured, is excited! It wasn’t sure if it’d be accepted after the unprecedented success of the first 150 Pokémon, but people already love it! It sneaks into the back of an elementary school class to hear the good word of mouth about itself.
“I can’t wait to catch Pikablu!” says nearly every child in the classroom. Marill’s blood turns cold. Marill tries to stop the rumors, but it’s too late. By 2001, the excitement is long gone. Children spot Marill and greet him with scorn. “Oh, that was all just a rumor. Marill sucks.”
To this day Marill can take a blast of Thunder right to its face because no pain can match the blow to its self-confidence that it received during that horrific time.
Shuckle
Here he comes, rougher than the rest of them. The best of them, tougher than leather. You can call him Shuckle, unlike Squirtle, he doesn’t chuckle. He gets on the dance floor and shuffles.
Being a Shuckle is hard, man. Look at those little legs.
Jirachi
Wish granting. It’s an ability with limitless potential, but Jirachi does not grant wishes for itself. No, it must grant wishes for others. That means it has to put up with adults desperately wishing their parents didn’t throw away their old Pokémon cards because they swear they had a 1999 First Edition Mint Charizard Holo that they could use to finally pay off their crippling student debt. Please, oh please Jirachi make my wish come true.
Putting up with that takes a mind of steel.
Rotom Pokédex
The internet is filled with “Who’s the strongest of X franchise?” debates. In those debates, people discuss strength, speed, defenses, and more. What they fail to consider is that the most powerful force is often information. You can’t beat someone who knows your every weakness. You can’t run from someone who knows your past.
Rotom Pokédex is living information. The moment it sees you, it knows you. What does it know? What sins can it see? Maybe forfeiting the fight is better than the possibility of your dark past being revealed to the world.
Ash’s Pikachu
All Ash’s Pikachu wants is to grow, but he can’t. It would hurt the brand. Kids love Pikachu! He can’t evolve!
“Please!” Pikachu begs. “I don’t want to evolve but please let me grow! If you won’t, I’m leaving!”
The Pokémon Company looks down on him and shakes their heads.
“Sure, Pikachu,” they say. “You can leave, but you know, our profits would go way down and we’d have to lay off half the staff. You don’t want that to happen, right? Sonia’s got five kids at home. What will they think when she tells them she lost her job because of Pikachu?”
So Pikachu carries on, the weight of responsibility on its shoulders every day.
