-->And Roxana did, going straight for a $3 cone of ice cream! Which, to my surprise and delight, prompted Smiler to gain a special Confident moodlet about selling ice cream on an extremely hot day, “The Coolest Vendor In Town!” XD Plus a separate moodlet for selling excellent-quality food. :) And, as usual, once one Sim had bought something, all the others in the area were eager to check things out! Notable sales included:
I. A guy named Asa trying out the mushroom waffles
II. Someone named Finley also going for a cone of chocolate ice cream
III. Roxana coming back for something more filling and also trying the mushroom waffles
IV. A guy named Mitchell taking a chance on the seafood pizza
V. Someone named Desmond deciding to go for a BOWL of ice cream, because why settle for a cone
VI. Don Lothario showing up and being convinced to buy a slice of Curious Pizza because I thought it was funny
VII. And my very first Sim ever made, Geeker McTest (in this save file a minor celebrity), showing up and also grabbing a bowl of ice cream. :)
Not bad at all, huh? The day’s profits weren’t amazing – $233 for five ice creams, four waffles, one slice of seafood pizza, and one slice of Curious pizza – but the gang doesn’t need the money, they just do this so people have good things to eat that they might not be able to get in their home worlds. :) Plus it’s just fun!
-->Ah, but what were Victor and Alice doing while Smiler was getting their sale on? Well, Victor ended up helping Alice with the ribs (by standing around and chatting with her, because he couldn’t do much else), then they each had a plate (chowing down with Roxana as she enjoyed her waffles) before heading over to the chess tables to play a game! As they both had a want to do so, you see. They spent their time chatting and flirting while Smiler worked the crowd, with Alice ultimately winning the match. All that time spent in Looking-Glass Land must have really made her a chess queen! (Literally – she does indeed get a fancy crown and everything at the end of that book. XD)
-->Once the food sale was over, it was time to start taking care of everyone's needs! Smiler, who was thirsty, went over and chatted with Roxana, learning a bit more about her (“she/her” pronouns, dislikes pop music and fitness) before convincing her to let them have a drink, while Victor and Alice, meanwhile, both used the toilet (with Victor nearly getting walked in on by KATRINA! Caliente – decorum, woman!). Alice then had a brief cloudgaze while Victor went around the side of the building to privately practice Untamed Magic, getting the “Necrocall” spell (which lets you summon ghosts from their gravestones) in the process (and a cute little message from Darkwing saying “New spells are fun!” :) ). I then tried to have Alice and Victor build a sand sculpture together to wrap up the day...
Only for Victor to just stand around supervising while Alice and SMILER ended up building a sand cowplant out the front of the park. O.o Well, I guess that’s one way for them all to participate? It was starting to get a little late, though, and I didn’t want the food in Smiler’s inventory to go bad...

He did indeed! :D Though, ah, not without some major glitchiness. If you’ve been to the hospital yourself for a surgery, or watch any Sims LPers who interact with the Doctor career or go to have babies at the hospital, you’ve probably seen this in action. If you haven’t -- ah, surgery tube broke. The actual arms don’t move, the doctors randomly t-pose at the controls, and the patients randomly swing out 180 degrees to clip through their physicians’ legs. Now, this does not actually stop things from WORKING -- babies get successfully delivered, diseases get successfully treated -- but it is very weird and broken, and WE’D LIKE A FUCKING BUG-FIX PATCH EA.
But even with that, Wheatley saved the day, and Arhi left cured, giving him the third successful surgery he needed to get promoted! I had him spend the rest of the day taking samples, analyzing them, and logging the results for quick work performance boosts, and by quitting time, he was promoted to Medical Specialist! This comes with a bonus, the “Sickness Resistance” trait (so he personally gets sick less often), and, of course -- THE DESK! I promptly slapped it downstairs into the office (moving his microphone), then put the computer Geeker won during GeekCon on it (selling the spare). Doesn’t it look nice? :)
But what about the other two people living in the house? Well, Geeker has a perfectly normal day and was at work when Wheately got home, but I decided I wanted to do a bit more with Chell. So, once she’d gotten her daily “thank you” fish from StrangerVille out of the mailbox, I had her call a meeting of her club, the Powerhouses, at the Harbor Quarter Gym! I don’t usually do club stuff (as evidenced by the fact Chell had to reintroduce herself to her own club leader), but I figured it was a good way to get her out of the house and have some fun!

Day 4 of our time with Chell, Wheatley, and Geeker, and, as usual, the summer weather in Newcrest was absolutely miserable. I swear, this neighborhood must get more thunderstorms in the middle of summer. . .anyway, I wasn’t about having all my Sims trapped inside all day, and after two days at work for Wheatley and Chell respectively, I wanted to do something new. Fortunately, the game provided me with the perfect activity to get them out of the house -- GeekCon! AKA arguably the City Living festival I go to the least simply because it takes place during normal working hours for most of my Sims. But Wheatley had vacation time, Chell decides her own hours, and Geeker wasn’t going to work until that afternoon, so when an invite came in from his friend Faith Land, the gang gathered up Geeker’s boyfriend Dario and headed out!
. . .Naturally, it was raining over in San Myshuno as well. *grumbles* Fortunately, it cleared up rather quickly, and everyone started plunging into GeekCon activities. Namely, Wheatley and Chell spent some time working on the rocket with Faith as the festival “goal” (with me once again realizing too late I’d made Chell do something that she doesn’t like -- right, girl was nearly dragged into space, so she dislikes Rocket Science), while Geeker caught up with his boyfriend, entered the Hackathon, got a bite to eat --

We’ve finally reached Geeker, Chell, and Wheatley again on this go-round of Newcrest Adventures! Been a while, huh? Welp, let’s see what they were up to on this fine end-of-spring in-game Saturday -- oh, but first off, here’s their new Preferences!
Chell:
Likes -- Orange, Green, Focus Music, Latin Pop, Baking, and Fitness
Dislikes -- White, Jazz, and Rocket Science
Wheatley:
Likes -- Blue, Orange, Classical Music, Pop Music, Comedy, and Research & Debate
Dislikes -- White, Spooky Music, and Rock Climbing
Geeker:
Likes -- Blue, Green, Focus Music, Electronica, Programming, and Video Games
Dislikes -- Pink, Tween Pop, and Pipe Organ
I had both Chell and Wheatley dislike White because of Aperture -- Chell also dislikes Jazz music because of the “smooth jazz” played there, and rocket science because of the whole “being nearly sucked out into space” thing. I thought it would be funny if Wheatley genuinely did like Classical music, instead of just having it on to look “smart,” and I had him dislike Spooky music as he doesn’t like being scared. And Rock Climbing because he’s not into heights. Geeker’s likes are all built around him being a tech guy, while his dislikes are kind of random, honestly.
All right, into the game itself -- and there wasn’t much going on for most of the day. Everyone ended up sleeping in, and by the time they got up, I felt like there wasn’t much point in sending Chell to her bakery. And of course Wheatley didn’t have work, so most of the day was spent by them just doing some random skill-building and whatnot -- Chell of course got in a workout and enjoyed some cooking programs, while Wheatley worked some more on his Logic and Geeker did his usual computer stuff. Beyond curing a few colds, I wasn’t sure what to do with the day. . .
And then I decided, “You know what, I’m gonna go into the cooking aspiration for Chell and see if there’s anything interesting there.” So I opened it up, and, sure enough, at the level Chell was at, the final goal for her to complete to get to the next milestone was “get Silver on a dinner party.” Chell promptly made a few plans via the calendar, and at 7 PM, her friends Beatrix Halverson, Sonya Caron, and Catarina Lynx all showed up for supper! But what kind of supper?

With the spa trip over with, it was time to fulfill some of the other traditions of the day -- like hitting the public barbecues to make some food! Though, once again, I forgot that while COOKING the various cultural meals, like Chell’s chicken here, added to the BBQs by patches counts for the BBQ tradition, EATING them does not. Wheatley had to go and make his own plate of burgers later to fulfill it for himself. *grumbles* Another thing they could try and fix in a patch. . .
On the plus side, the Fireworks tradition? No effort at all needed -- everybody had loads from the Humor and Hijinks festival they attended months ago. I let Geeker have the honor of setting them off, and the night ended in a few bursts of beautiful color. Excellent holidays for Geeker and Wheatley, and a good one for Chell -- I forget now what tradition she didn’t QUITE get, but at least she didn’t completely fail the holiday!
If only the same could be said for Wheatley’s job. . .next time, a return to the hospital, where we’ll see if Wheatley’s bedside manner has improved at all!

Day 3, and while we’re still in active career mode, we’ve switched from doctors and hospitals to retail store fun! Specifically, Chell and Wheatley spent the day back at Chell’s bakery! It was the usual fairly chaotic day for them -- they got there pretty early (after Wheatley upgraded the bathroom sink back at home -- he’s up to Handiness 7 as of this particular update!), and Chell got to work baking in the back room while Wheatley actually opened up the place and concentrated on the customers! We got a pretty wide selection of townies in today -- including Angela Pleasant, visiting from Britechester! Always nice to see a familiar face from The Sims 2. . .
But yeah, things were hopping! Took a bit for anyone to actually BUY something, but once the first NPC took the plunge, we actually got a pretty steady stream of sales! Good enough that Chell, on her lunch break, had to go out and help Wheatley with it all. Though, for some reason, she seemed awfully Tense about being out in the main room, and I couldn’t figure out why. . .

Day 2 of our time with Geeker, and Wheatley, and it was Wheatley’s time to shine again today! Mostly because it was a work day for him and thus we were following him to the hospital. Though I do want it noted that he’s actually picked up not only a bunch of skill points for Handiness, but a preference for it! Guess all those shower upgrades have convinced him that wielding a wrench is fun. XD
Anyway -- over at his actual job, it was a not-overwhelming day to start with -- lot of kids on the ward, but nobody much else. Wheatley started with one Gideon Harris, who proved to have Sweaty Shivers and thus needed a shot. Easy-peasy, really. With that over, I started to send Wheatley over to the next kid --
But then I got a pop-up about him needing to do a house call! Hey, you know how I feel about the active careers -- a chance to do something out of the ordinary is great! And this was very much out of the ordinary indeed, as his call took him to, of all places, StrangerVille! To the house of Jess Sigworth, in fact -- guess she must have remembered him from when he assisted Chell in the fight against the Mother Plant. :p Though, weirdly enough, it wasn’t her family that was sick -- instead, there were just three random visitors hanging around being ill. Game, this -- this is bad quarantine protocol, game. Especially when one of the visitors is an alien and has who-knows-what.
Wheatley took it all in stride, though -- examining each visitor in turn, and prescribing the same cure-all medicine available on the phone. And not saying a word about them chatting with Jess and her child while having the big red “house call” icon flashing above their heads. -.- Game, come on. This is a lot less amusing in the year 2021.

It was time to fill up the display cases with baked goods! Or, at least, make a start on it -- Chell WAS a bit tired, and I didn’t want her to stay too late. But she did make a couple of cakes, some donuts, and some cupcakes. Good start for the next day, anyway! (Also, if you’re wondering, the stove and fridge? Those are from @biguglyhag, part of her Retro Fallout 4 Furnishings! I’m using them here because they’re cheap, but have GREAT food quality! And of course we want Chell to thrive in her little shop.)
Once she was done with baking and headed home, that was about it for the day -- the evening was spent just fulfilling needs and whatnot. Though we did get the gang all together for a quick round of MySims Racing! Rare for the trio to all pop down on the couch together, so I wanted to commemorate the moment. XD
Next time: We actually go to the bakery to sell stuff! And experience some true weirdness. . .

While Chell got her painter on! Produced a reasonably cute piece showcasing some trees -- she may not be Doug Rattmann levels yet, but she’s learning! XD
Don’t worry about their date, though -- indulging their creative passions seemed to spark some other ones. There was plenty of flirting, kissing, serenading, and exchanging of flowers (which they’d recently exchanged back on Egg Day, but as onlyabidoang’s latest Sims Logic video proved, Sims never pay attention to that sort of thing). I even got an interaction I don’t usually see -- Chell jumping into Wheatley’s arms! That’s so cute :D A shame I don’t know how the heck I triggered it! (It seemed to happen right after the caress -- was it because she’s a fitness freak?)
At any rate, the date ended at Gold level, as most of my dates do. And with them sorted, I could send them home and set them up with a bit of fun while I summoned a certain someone to the house. . .

Why, Geeker went on a date, of course! With Wheatley’s workday over, I was expecting a quiet evening at home with the gang. . .but then Dario texted Geeker, asking to come over. I figured that would be sweet and had him round -- then realized Geeker was only one date away from fulfilling the bottom tier of the Soulmate aspiration and decided -- yeah, let’s get that fully checked off!
And where better to go than The Caboose, the bar (and only non-Community Space community lot) in Evergreen Harbor! I’ve got the new pack, I may as well show it off a bit, right? And, uh, quickly update said bar so that the roof is even and that there’s a couple more activities in there for bored Sims (it does not come with that dartboard or that Don’t Wake The Llama table, is what I’m saying). Not that Geeker and Dario needed the amenities to have a good time -- once they were inside, out of the horrible air of Port Promise, they were only too happy to just sit and chat with each other!
. . .And random other Sims, like our “favorite” asshole alien Andy. Okay, Sims 4 team? You really gotta give the NPCs more social awareness. Can they not horn in when my boys are in the middle of a date? I’ve got date goals to fulfill here! And telling stories to five million other Sims is NOT one of them!

Well, a lot of them ended up leaving, leading me to get scolded in the pop-ups. Come on, game, there’s only so much I can do! Especially since I HAVE to leave Sims alone to observe their symptoms so I can pick the right illness for the diagnosis! If his coworkers did anything besides chat to each other and the occasional patient. . . Why do we even have a receptionist if they’re not gonna do anything?! Uuuugh. . .
Anyway, Wheatley managed to take care of two more kids while on the job -- Lucas Munch, who had Gas and Giggles and needed some medicine; and Olivia Spencer-Kim-Lewis, who also had Llama Flu and received another shot. He also started a treadmill test for another patient just for the work goal fun, but didn’t get to complete his diagnosis before the day was over. Ah well -- four isn’t too bad for a Sim work day, honestly! Just a shame none of them needed surgery. At this rate, Wheatley’s never going to be promoted. *anxious Simmer noises*
So that’s Wheatley’s work day wrapped up in a nutshell. But what did Geeker get to do that was so interesting?

Day 2 of our time with Chell, Wheatley, and Geeker, and this update happens to be roughly half and half of the two boys! Yes, on this snowy start to spring, it’s time to follow Wheatley back to his job at the hospital!
His job at the hospital, where he’s the only one who ever does anything. Yeah, “Detective” may be my least-favorite career because of the sheer repetitiveness, but “Doctor” doesn’t earn any points from having your coworkers just stand around like particularly boring trees while the patients pile up! *sigh* How’s a man supposed to perform the three surgeries he needs to get promoted if nobody but him admits patients. . .
Well, we just bucked up and soldiered on as best we could. Wheatley jumped right in with poor Alexander Goth, who had a case of Llama Flu -- a shot took care of him. then it was onto Ritu Chandron, who was determined to have Bloaty Head after a treadmill test and observing her massive headache. Another shot for her! So that’s two patients down -- but what about the rest?

Day 7 of our time with Chell, Wheatley, and Geeker, and it’s come around to Love Day! So, naturally, dating must happen! After breakfast and a little boxing, of course. :p So once Wheatley had the laundry in the washing machine and had taken a day off of work, I had him invite Chell out on a date to a location we haven’t visited in a while -- Tranquil Crescent Museum! Yeah, the local Newcrest museum -- remember that place? Once the premiere wedding spot in this neighborhood? Ah, memories. . .
Anyway, my main reason for coming here was because it was a chance to kill two birds with one stone -- namely, have Chell look at some of the pictures for her Painter Extraordinaire aspiration, while at the same time getting both her and Wheatley past the first level of the Soulmates aspiration. You gotta have two dates before you advance, so you may as well spend one chatting about portraits of jazz musicians!
At any rate, they had a decent time at the museum, shooting the shooflee -- and even getting a bit of crafting on! Wheatley indulged himself on the woodworking bench (gotta get that Handiness up!). . .

Well, on Chell’s side, she’s still getting StrangerVille fan mail. And they’re sending somewhat nicer things than before -- a smelly fish that she can mount; a future cube, so she can predict what’s coming next; and a lump of clay that she can mold into things like bunnies when she’s not hanging out with her husband on the couch. Better than spoiled cupcakes, that’s for sure! XD
And Geeker? Eh, he spent most of the day asleep or at his job -- he’s JUST within reach of a promotion himself, but didn’t QUITE make his either. Ah well. Here’s your obligatory glimpse of him as he muscles past the vampire patiently waiting to be let indoors. XD
Up next -- our last day with the gang just so happens to be Love Day! We ready for more Wheatley/Chell and Geeker/Dario dates? Of course we are. . .

It’s Day Five of our time with Chell, Wheatley, and Geeker, and it’s time to spend a day at Chell’s bakery! I got sidetracked last time by mysteriously late welcome wagons, but today we went to the bakery, by God!
And not only that -- we went there in a new outfit! Yes, allow me to show off some cool custom content from @satterlly -- her Portal 2 Chell outfit, complete with long fall boots! Looks pretty cool, doesn’t it? Been meaning to slap that on Chell. . .
Anyway! After a quick breakfast (Wheatley living the dream and eating cookies), the two headed over to the bakery and promptly started baking! Wheatley leveled up his Baking skill on the cupcake machine, turning out lots of donuts and whatnot, while Chell honed hers on the stove, making and decorating cookies and cakes. Once the two displays at the back were filled, I opened the store up to customers, and we promptly started making sales! The kid Tane from Sulani grabbing the strawberry fizzy cupcakes; Catarina from Brindleton Bay picking up fudge bars; Jesminder from San MyShuno taking some glazed donuts. Seems like everyone from everywhere wanted to buy something from the store!

With the snowball fight ended, Geeker and Dario tried to take a private moment to chat about the holiday -- that was promptly co-opted by wandering NPCs. >( I have to start getting some of those mods that stop that behavior. . .at least them popping by allowed Geeker to fulfill the “Party Spirit” tradition! And with that out of the way, along with “Decorate” (courtesy of Chell and Wheatley), and “Make Resolution,” there was just one left to go --
“New Year’s Countdown!” Yes, time to turn on the TV and watch as another Sim year comes to an end! I’d INTENDED for everyone to all watch together downstairs, but for some reason Dario and Geeker were really drawn to the TV in the gym. (I suspect it’s a better one than the one downstairs, which is a scaled-up cheaper TV.) So I let the two couples watch separately, counting down and cheering when the confetti maker in the TV burst. XD Dario and Geeker hugged, while Wheatley gave Chell a kiss on the cheek, awww. I was expecting both of them to go at it like Victor and Alice did when the Liddell-Van Dorts celebrated New Year’s, but I guess we all can’t be like my OTP. XD
And then Dario headed off, and the gang gathered for a late supper and a little last burst of confetti. Successful holiday for everyone, and they’re all feeling good and can sleep in --
Oh, wait.
Wheatley has work tomorrow.
OFF TO BED NOW GUYS GO GO GO
