fantasizing about post canon* occupations and i do mean occupations and not “careers” or “professions” because they are still stealing money to live and legally dead/missing/whatever. sam and eileen keep hunting but sam does a lot of hunter admin. research and coordinating for other hunters, digitizing. he probably buys one of those book scanners that costs thousands of dollars to digitize the bunker library and then has to call in max banes to help him double bubble toil and troubleshoot it so the magic books stop bricking the stupid thing. he and garth become the new bobby except common wisdom re: calling sam for help becomes “text him instead.” people assume this is because he’s rude over the phone but the truth is he will trap you in a 40 minute call for 2 questions if you don’t have the brass to simply hang up on him.
dean works at an auto shop for like 2 months before he gets fed up with his boss and also the back pain. he gets involved in those classic car meetups to show off baby and the bunkers other cars and ends up befriending some other Car Guys and helping them with restorations, which a few years down the line turns into him buying a whole auto junkyard off a guy who wants to move closer to his daughter and grandchildren. dean tries the whole Reclusive Curmudgeon thing for a while but he is at his core a People Person so what begins as an open invitation for passing hunters to come for dinner turns into a small roadhouse off the 281.
cas participates in their hobbies to an extent—translations and obscure research for/with sam, hunting with eileen sometimes, keeping dean company at at car shows or the junkyard or the roadhouse, learning to mix great drinks because it’s ratios. but he also goes down a very unfortunate path brought on by listening to sam’s recommended historical podcasts (super interesting and in depth! great perspective on that era.) and getting so pissed off that he makes his own. these become controversial and popular because a) he only sometimes cites sources and otherwise just tells people “i was there” which they reasonably do not believe about like. the eruption of mount vesuvius. 2) his voice. 3) he does not edit his podcasts or seem interested in audio quality. one episode was notably uploaded at a whopping 4 hours. after a 45 minute monologue there followed 3.25 hours of: yelling, the entire b side of a cassette mix judging from the sound quality, chewing, and the sound of dishes being done.
when jack comes back after he realizes he’s not cut out for the god gig he gets a GED and a new pet snake.

𝒄𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒅, 𝒘𝒂𝒍𝒌 𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆
❛ russ and temperance brennan headcanons ❜
russ used to sleep walk a lot as child, but when he was sent to jail the first time, he learned how to stop
russ’ new name was selected from a book of old English and German names, whereas his old name is Scottish
russ adored playing board games, like scrabble, with his girls and temperance
russ dropped out of high school, but did manage to get his GED so he could be a mechanic
russ used to be a picky eater, temperance was like this too, but unlike his sister he grew out of it
russ has one, very simple word that he cannot figure out how to pronounce
russ is also very smart like temperance, but doesn’t apply his knowledge unless if he’s comfortable with sharing
russ’ used to hate learning history in school, now he collects National Geographic History magazines to give them to his girls
russ as a child would watch over temperance when she slept so nothing happened to her, this was instructed to him by his mother and father
russ has an incredible short-term memory but an awful long-term memory, though it varies for which subject
russ is willing to try to go to a recovery program for substance abuse, he doesn’t go in grand detail what he was abusing to his girls nor tempe
russ prefers to listen to an audio book rather than picking up an actual book, but he does pick out books for his girls from the public library -- temperance got all of them library cards for the holidays one year
temperance has over a thousand pictures of their pet snake, which she’s named Doodle
temperance said she bought a collar for Booth, and told him if he kept acting like a hound, she was going to put it on him
temperance still uses emoticons instead of emoji, she would ask her interns what the hell is an emoji, and her favorite emoticon is: ¯\_(-.-)_/¯
temperance as child used to own a pet worm and rock that she named, Slimy and Pebble
temperance gets road rage when driving alone, but keeps booth (and russ) from raging when they’re driving together
temperance has binged both Family Guy and American Dad, she prefers one over the other, but doesn’t say which is her favorite one
temperance practically lives in her office, the pubic library, or at booth’s apartment (that’s before she got with him btw)
temperance used to not know what the saying, "Do you want me to kiss it better?" meant now she unironically says it to her team, especially to booth and parker
temperance wakes up super early on November 1st to start planning what she should get her team and brother for Christmas as she might not be able to think about it later
temperance used to have full conversations with herself if she didn’t have anyone to talk to
temperance definitely has tried an edible and claimed to not feel a thing, but was later found to be sitting on the floor playing with a piece of bone and talking to it
temperance takes pictures of the morning sunrise, as well as the sunsets, and posts them on a blog she has under an alias
hanger notes - again, some of these might not be accurate to their characters, because a particular some are based on my two brothers and i. if you like my Bones content, feel free to leave suggestions of who i should do next in my asks :)

Reading This Week 2024 #6-8
sits here. i have been behind on this.... once again... i think i just have to accept that i do these when i do these.
Finished Week 6 (Feb 4-10):
Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift (skimmed/read the spark notes for class discussion, won't be reading more)
Undoing Gender by Judith Butler (read Chapter 6 "Longing for Recognition", currently won't be reading more)
The Tombs of Atuan by Ursula K. Le Guin, narrated by Rob Inglis (started the same week, audio book was lots of fun)
i love Tenar...... i think it's really cool that the way the Earthsea books are working is that even tho Ged is a reocurring character, we get a new child perspective for each one
Orange, Vol. 4 by Ichigo Takano, translated by Amber Tamosaitis (started same week)
truly TRULY the love triangle/rivals in this are so primed to be read polyamorously it had driven me crazy. just form a triad, you all like each other
about 10 other smaller things (articles, short stories, excerpts) that i shall not be naming individually bc this post is already too long
Finished Week 7 (Feb 11-17):
Burnt Shadows by Kamila Shamsie (started in Week 6)
this book flips is like reading a multigenerational family drama with each section involving the slowly growing tension of knowing what horrific historical event/conditions they are about to live through
Venus by Susan-Lori Parks (started same week)
The Way of the House Husband by Kousuke Oono, translated by Amanda Haley (started same week)
“Experiential Gender” in Whipping Girl: A Transsexual Woman on Sexism and the Scapegoating of Femininity by Julia Serano
“Black (W)holes and The Geometry of Black Female Sexuality” by Evelynn Hammonds
"Unsexed: A Zero Concept for Gender Studies" by Kath Weston
"Of Catamites and Kings: Reflections on Butch, Gender, and Boundaries" by Gayle Rubin (these four i read for a class that i lead the discussion four so while they fall under the category of articles i'm not mentioning right now, i felt they should be included for that reason)
a shit ton of student papers
6 smaller things (articles and abandoned books that i'm skipping for same reason as above)
Finished Week 8 (Feb 18-24):
Story of a Brief Marriage by Anuk Arudpragasam (started same week)
very in-depth descriptions of bowel movements in this
Orange, Vol. 5 by Ichigo Takano, translated by Amber Tamosaitis (started same week)
so cute! once again i am advocating for them to just form a poly triad
He Who Drowned the World by Shelley Parker-Chan (started ages and ages ago...)
you've already seen my frantic reblog spam about this. i'm glad i finally finished reading this. the quarter 3 of it was kind a low point but i think it really captured me again by the end (however, i think the like... FINAL two pages are really scream "remember! that this is technically inspired by some real history!" in a way i found unneccesary and kinda too me out of the satisfaction of the end). i think the ending worked for me because Ma was really underused (i know it would have made the book kinda bloated but i would have loved a chapter or two of her perspective holding down the fort and dealing with internal politics while Zhu was away doing war things....), so her role in the finale was what really solidified it for me. this book drove me crazy in a great way, i think so many people should read She Who Became the Sun and then this sequel
Witch Hat Atelier, Vol. 11 by Kamome Shirahama, translated by Stephen Kohler (started same week)
the panelling in this manga is simply so fucking good. read this. its so cute
Orange, Vol. 6: Future by Ichigo Takano, translated by Amber Tamosaitis (started same week)
i don't think this volume was necessary lol... i did not need to know how Suwa and Naho got together in the future where Kakeru died, it was better as implications
Ongoing Reads:
Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree (read another chapter)
i am so sorry to my girlfriend who has to deal with me complaining about this book i am reading to her after every chapter... i am glad she is enjoying it regardless
The Farther Shore by Ursula K. Le Guin, narrated by Rob Inglis (about halfway through)
The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien (basically read the preface material so far)

LE031 Sun Araw Fluid Array
Sun Araw is the working title of a musical project helmed by Los Angeles-based artist Cameron Stallones. Sun Araw has released a number of well-received and consistently innovative albums, with his eighth, The Saddle of the Increate, released by Sun Ark Records (an imprint of Drag City) in 2017.
Structural and spiritual inspiration for Sun Araw comes primarily from investigation into the nature of experience by the transformative power of simple observation. The goal has always been the creation of a psychedelic music, by which is meant a psychotropic music: not an aesthetic sensibility but a method of discontinuous experience. Supporting every Sun Araw composition is the fact of mantra: the ability of repetition with attention to change the perception of a melodic object. By means of this constantly changing perception, the possibilities of improvisation become infinite. More recent works attempt to effect the mental activity of the listener even more physically and investigate the expansion of the time-experience when the composition removes a fixed place from which to listen.
Since the project's inception in 2007, eight full-length LPs, three EPs, six cassettes, and innumerable collaborations have emerged, partaking in a musical spectrum spanning psychedelic drone and melted afrobeat, warped dub and minimal composition, all the while remaining distinct from any possible genre classification. In 2012 a posthumous split seven inch with minimalist psychedelic legends Spacemen 3 bent the circle of influence into a spiral. Sun Araw’s releases have been praised in Wire Magazine (who selected Heavy Deeds as one of the top 50 records of 2009, On Patrol in the top 50 of 2010, and Ancient Romans in the top 50 of 2011), The New Yorker, The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Uncut Magazine, Mojo, Pitchfork, and beyond. Sun Araw has toured extensively domestically and abroad, performing in Europe, Russia, Australia, Mexico, South America, and Canada.
In early 2011, Cameron and M. Geddes Gengras traveled to Jamaica where they recorded and produced Icon Give Thank, a collaborative album with roots-reggae legends The Congos, which has led to a live performance at the Barbican in London and a concert in Manhattan with Lee Scratch Perry. While in and around Kingston, Cameron and Ged also began producing dancehall singles and tracking local vocalists under the name Duppy Gun Productions, and are currently releasing this material with the help of Stones Throw Records.
Cameron creates the artwork for each release, writes liner notes, and has started a photographic series of books and videos and a radio show under the name Second System Vision.
Artist notes: In 2015 for the album Gazebo Effect, Mitchell Brown and I conceived a music system which would allow me to improvise with several instruments while running through a quarter inch reel-to-reel tape machine that Mitchell was controlling and manipulating in realtime. The system we developed gives him the ability to dub pieces of my playing onto a repeating tape loop, sometimes allowing me to hear my playing before it's recorded, other times not. Sort of like playing an instrument into a wood-chipper. The general principle has held strong for years in our collaboration, although the equipment has been continually modified and optimised. The joy in this sort of setup is simple: mediated desire. The player makes a move, but what returns to the ears as audio is not quite the move that was made, it has been modified by the tape system. This is something that happens regularly in human experience: desire or will become modified by physics or the desire of another, and the difference between the original move and what returns holds a clue about the nature of the medium in which we find ourselves. Mitchell and I have found that mimicking this principle in our improvisational system continuously yields surprising and beautiful results, and makes us both better performers as we learn to adapt to and frolic with the medium in which we find ourselves.
Longform music and the act of listening deeply are incredibly powerful tools for the modification of experience. Surface level attention acts sort of like a dog, it sniffs something, decides what it is, and kinda plods away looking for another smell. The best deep-listening music gently suggests, by weight of some sort of internal vibrancy, another, deeper return of the attention. Each subsequent return of the attention gives something back: at first just the energy that would have been spent wandering off, but before long a gentle glow can develop, and a sound that perhaps has not changed (say, in an Elaine Radigue monolith) now holds three extra colours that it didn't before. It's not long before looking deeper becomes its own reward, and soon bestows the most important quality of all: a distinct modification in the normal feeling of time, which is the harbinger of all the best sorts of human experiences.

I guess I’ll give a spoiler warning for this audio just in case.
Spoiler alert for GED Audio’s, Raking Leaves with your English Roommate. Link at the bottom.
So, I listened, well, I’m still listening, just paused it so I could make this post before I forget it, to GED Audio’s latest audio. It’s a standard roommates to lovers confession video, but something happened.
After the confession there is just a pause and he says, “Would it be al l right if I.” And the standard script goes with a kiss, but instead he asked to hold the listener‘s hand. My brain just kind of stopped and I think I blushed. It was completely unexpected and so wholesomely intimate that my cheeks actually got warm. It’s not something generally found in RPs. Usually I love listening to adorable flustered guys, but this time I got flustered by the usually flustered guy! 😳
If you like easily flustered and/or British VAs definitely check out GED! He’s incredibly sweet and adorable!

Percy Jackson headcanons, because the brainrot has returned for its revenge.
“That’s not canon!”
To you. I know him personally.
Arospec pan, asexual
Agender, goes by xe/they/it/she/he pronouns
Sally is in some way descended from Phoebe. She has vaguely prophetic dreams, scarily good instincts, and clear sight
This is why Percy is so unsettlingly accurate when it comes to dreams and subconscious predictions/instinct
They’re an ISFP
Percy and Sally are Puertorican-Brazilian, xe’s been trilingual since a child, though it took some time to separate the three, since they were spoken in tandem around the house when xe was little.
Before Gabe, the apartment complex they lived in had an old Mexican lady next door to them, who mostly spoke Spanish. Her name was Aitana, but Percy and Sally always called her abuela Aitana. Percy was quiet around her at first, but then she asked then about their hyperfixation at the time (poisonous plants), and they were off.
They lost contact with her after Sally married Gabe and they moved, but a little after Gabe ‘disappeared’ they went to try and find her at their old address. She was thankfully still there, hugged them both, and they caught up. Now she babysits Estelle and gets invited over for meals.
Sally’s dad was Brazilian, her mom Peurto Rican. Her dad had an older brother already in New York, who was the uncle that raised her.
Percy loves rain and the ocean, and rainy days at the beach. Though sometimes the ocean loses its appeal since, yk, greek myths and stuff
Smells like rain and a breeze coming off the waves. Like the actual real thing that no man made scent can replicate.
Got xeir GED during xeir junior year. Xe’s gone on many a rant to xeir mom about how fucked the school system is, since xe would have taken at least two more years to graduate if xe stuck with the system and instead graduated early! (“That contradicts ca-” *gunshot*)
Struggled with classes and school and homework, but blew through tests like nobody’s business (once they got them in audio format).
Thinks better when pacing, sometimes energetically.
Snaps their fingers next to their ears as a stim
Drumming on things, stomping, chewing, and messing with one of his homemade flour stress balls are some of its stims.
Loves Glass Animals, partly because their stuff slaps, partly because ✨audio stims✨
Lots of vocal stims/echoing things that sound cool
The biggest sensory issue xe has is smell, and just below that sound. There are scents of certain candles, or foods, that xe just can’t stand, and there are some days where everybody’s voices just grate on xeir nerves.
5’8” at best, because it’s funny.
really elaborate doodler
draws on their arms
loves foggy mornings, and is an early morning person
Definitely works with kids in the future, maybe teaches kindergarteners (specifically kids with disabilities)
Am I projecting a lot of my own neurodivergence onto him? Yes. Am I also throwing some of my saltiness at the American education system in there? Also yes. Can any of you fuckers stop me? FUCK no.

Transcript:
“Chris, Ryan - Mike Walters. He’s the new guy,” Hunter said. “Nice to meet you,” they said almost in unison. Aaaand this is awkward. Sorry guys, we already have a Chris and Ryan on WOE.BEGONE. These were not they. Clearly, the writers of reality did not take into account the fact that putting more people in my life with these exact names would make it harder to tell my life story in the form of a podcast? They didn’t say their last names either, and I didn’t ask because that would be a weird thing to do. So I’m gonna call ‘em... Blorpo and Donder. I really hope they don’t become important enough that I regret that decision.
[cut]
“Personally it was to get away from my old friends,” Donder said. “That means drugs,” Blorpo said. “Yeah, basically. Nothing too hard but the whole situation was making me live wrong and it was starting to make me really unhealthy. I’m getting too old to live like I did when I was 25,” Donder said. Blorpo didn’t tell his story, which means it was either too boring or too dark for the conversation. “Do you like it here so far, Mike?” Blorpo asked.
[cut]
“This asshole got a golf cart on his first day. I don’t know why.” Donder pointed his thumb at Blorpo. “Because I was a game warden for two years before I came out here!” Blorpo said. “Not all of us get here fresh off a GED.” “No need to get all testy, Blorpo,” Donder said and took-Okay, I-I, I already hate this. It was funny but I’m already tired of saying Blorpo. What if he’s Flinch and I have to keep saying Blorpo for like 10 more seasons? [mockingly] “I like the show but one of the characters is named Blorpo and I just can’t take it seriously anymore! Two stars!” I don’t know what that voice was. How about... Chance and Shadow. Chris is Chance is Blorpo and Ryan is Donder is Shadow.
