this is what i have so far (but slightly more under the hood like the wip name system and choosing player character)

the moorland house part (where u load in) needs an overhaul, and the grass field texture is temporary i think. i also have more horse options set up but theres a limit of very few sprites i can run on the screen at once (bc this is an actual gameboy clr game) so i'll have to put some in the stables or a separate field or something (maybe horse market style, swap the lineup).

the sso soundtrack is so interesting. im listening closer to some of the old songs now bc i was trying to remake one in gb format. theres so much like, kind of disjointed parts in one tune, which is pretty uncommon compared to what's usually in games i play. it will just fade something out, break off and do something different and then come back to the theme. its more symphonic with different movements rather than "heres a bassline, heres a drum beat, heres a melody". (the south hoof theme is more like that for example, while tunes like "welcome to jorvik" are the symphonic disjointed vibe)
but like ive said before, despite being symphonic and disjointed theyre still managing to be iconic and memorable.
its pretty hard capturing that in a meaningful way for gb tracker music tho. (heres me messing around in beepbox to find the right notes - u can hit play to hear.) so if i was going to do that i think its better basically taking bits and pieces of those tunes and remixing it into something thats easier to express in that format. but thats a whole process in itself. i dont know if i actually have energy to do any of it, so its just kind of random passive thoughts and experiments for now while i try to scrape myself off the floor and keep on living.

i sure am gamedeving the past few days.. in between being dizzy and having fainting spells and back-and-forth insomnia.. the sso gb demake is coming along (as in "i have to code lots of basic stuff so its not really much to Look At but the code is solidifying")
mb making a fangame is actually a helpful step for me in like, not being overwhelmed by all the Things i have to create all alone, bc a lot of it already exists. so i """just""" have to make pixel art versions of stuff and code stuff and potentially make some music covers.
(and all the graphics i make are obvs mine to then re-use for other projects however i want, aside from the few things that are designs directly lifted from the original, like portrait sprites.)
