This was my audition tape to perform with AleXa when she performed at the Korea Gayoje concert in New York. I didn't make the cut, but a handful of Harmonyc Movement's members performed alongside her as supporting dancers. The did an incredible job and I felt so proud to cheer them on in the crowd!
It's a very nice memory for me from this year so I'll just leave it here.
Enjoy ☆

Kero One, Dumbfoundead, and TOKiMONSTA Takes The SummerStage at Korea GAYOJE 2018
Writer & Photographer: Justine Martinez
New York, NY – Each summer, SummerStage hosts an outdoor festival of the arts at Rumsey Playfield, Central Parks, filled with concerts, workshops, and panels which are mostly free, excluding specific benefit concerts that are used to help fund the festival. On Saturday, August 11th, 2018, the Korean Cultural Center New York, MeanRed and SummerStage came together to present the second annual, Korea GAYOJE.
Korea GAYOJE allows Korean artists to take the center stage for one summer evening, focusing on music, diversity, and community. For this year, Korea GAYOJE brought in three main artists, all from California, Kero One, Dumbfounded, and the headliner, TOKiMONSTA, with a few special guests in between.
Despite the rain, fans still patiently waited in hopes to stand by the stage, doors opening at 5 PM on the dot. As the crowd trickled in for the free show, they were also greeted by free, red bandanas exclusive to the event, showcasing the performers of that night. To their right, concert goers could find a stand with food, beer, and boxed water, to get through the intermissions. For the first hour, Korean pop hits played from popular groups and artists like Wanna One, Jay Park, MOMOLAND, BTS, BLACK PINK, SUPER JUNIOR, CL, EXO, SEVENTEEN, GOT7, NCT, and the artists that would be seen later that evening.
Opening the show was Kero One, Korean-American hip-hop MC, producer, and DJ, known for incorporating jazz and rap into his mixes and songs. Performing in his first show of the year, Kero One showcased some of his best remixes, such as Roads, B*tch Don’t Kill My Vibe, and Spanish Joint. He ended his set by bringing out fellow New York DJ, Darling Chuck, and performed his newest single, A New Day Dawns, Let Me Show You, and a classic, In All the Wrong Places.
Recently finishing up the Yikes! Tour at the end of June, Jonathan Park, known as Dumbfoundead, was next in line on the SummerStage, DJ Zo joining right behind him. He performed songs from his first album, DFD, to songs from his most recent EP, Rocket Man.
After some songs on his own, Every Last Drop, Murals, We Might Die, and Kill Me, he then brought out fellow tour mates and duo, YOX, Year of the OX, for their second time performing at Korea GAYOJE.
YOX, made up of Korean-American rappers, Lyricks and JL, were brought on to perform K.B.B, Kai Bai Bo, originally performed by Jessi, Dumbfoundead, Microdot, and Lyricks, but adapted for three, Dumbfoundead, Lyricks, and JL. The two then stayed on the stage to showcase two more songs, A-Zn FOODS, and Stampede.
The four filled the stage as if it was Yikes! Tour Part 2 and played more hits from Dumbfoundead, teaching fans how to say ‘water’ in Korean for one of his songs, 물 (mul), Hyung, Harambe, Ganghis Khan, and a few other popular snippets. He ended his set with his newest EP track, Rocket Man, leaving the crowd ready for the last performer of the night.
With a thirty-minute intermission, it seemed as though most of the crowd had dispersed, however, as soon as the lights dimmed, the crowd began to clap, cheering, and it was clear that there were more people than before, waiting and ready for the headlining act.
The stage filled with hues of pink and blue as Jennifer Lee, known professionally as TOKiMONSTA, walked out. She opened her set with Gamble and transitioned seamlessly into Rose’s Thorn, standing center stage with a light show right behind her. She then played Rogue and Surrender, bringing out special guest Gavin Turek, to sing alongside her. TOKiMONSTA spent the rest of her set playing popular remixes, Smoke & Mirrors, Steal My Attention, Raella, and others, making sure, because it was a Saturday night, the crowd was “lit.”
With such a huge turnout and great ending to the night, fans and Korean performers can only look forward to next year, where there will hopefully be a third Korea GAYOJE.
