Book is called Earth Sucks! What's your favourite character dynamics?
Synopsis: It's the apocalypse, and Feng has a knack for pissing people off.
Mercenary Feng is both the hunter and the hunted, searching for his missing family while hunted by the alien intruders who are trying to get him to stop blowing their shit up.
Life gets worse when he must befriend one of the alien creatures to survive. She grew up on stories of humans, and Feng’s about to upend everything she's ever known—if they don't get each other killed first.

I watched ‘Fight Club’ with commentary from Chuck Palahniuk and Jim Uhls (screenwriter) and here are some of may favourite bits of information from it:
- the narrators condo was modelled after a condo Fincher used to live in
- Palahniuk owned the ying-yang table after the movie
- when Fincher first read the book he was so excited that we went to New York to pitch it to Pitt, and Brad Pitt was filming ‘Meet Joe Black’ at the time so Fincher sat on his door step until 1am and pitched him the role over a beer
- this is a direct quote from Palahniuk about their ‘post first fight sharing a beer scene’ “now this is so weird, drinking out of the same thing is like sort of a short hand for a love relationship in so many movies. um, that i couldn’t believe they were sharing a beer. it just seemed like such a powerful symbol, metaphor.” I KNOW WHAT THEY ARE!!!!
- at the publishing party for the book, one of Palahniuk’s friends had buttons made that said “I want to have Tyler Durden’s abortion”
- Direct quote from Palahniuk again “and it’s funny because there’s a whole undercurrent, like her alluding to him wearing the dress, her asking if it was a man or woman who kissed his hand. In a way she’s re enforcing this possible homoerotic thing on the side”
- Jim Uhls described the scene where the narrator beats up Angel Face as having “homosexual connotations”
I only recently finished sandman and I'll be honest I'm still thinking about hob gadling 🥲 like he ended up immortal bc he was so confident that humanity is so beautiful that it's worth living many lifetimes over, he continues!! to be so hopeful and excited about it, even when he was dirt poor and starving to what would otherwise be death but for him is just more suffering, like he's everything to me, he sees the positive of everything, and he's still just so excited to live !!! I will never get over him
i love when doctor who does gay shit and people get mad...because what are you gonna do??? try to cancel doctor who? that shits been running for years, they can do whatever they want now
I turned the "humans are space orcs" threads into a series called Earth Sucks! And the sequel is coming in August 😈

thighs clasped together, squirming on the couch with a fidget need at the tips of your fingers.
“whats wrong? something happen?” so caring, so sweetly worried,
“im tired, its getting late” so fake.
a head turning at the clock looking with a squint, a faint held-back smile with an undertone of amusement to it. “its winter, the sun is down but its eight. since when do you get tired so early?”
she knows, the avoiding of eye contact, the excess fidgeting, the subtle moving of your hips. just enough to get the energy out of them somehow, just enough to go by unnoticed if it weren’t her goal all evening to get you just like that.
“since the sun did too.” monotone, but pained. an ache at the cords to make your replied coherent. she wasn’t born yesterday, you’re not hanging out for the first time, its obvious. neutral facial expression with uneven breathing, focusing on anything ahead as long as its not her, blank stare, a deer in headlights.
but she wanted to hear it. “ohh is the poet becoming the poetry itself? well don’t let me stop you,” without looking at her you could tell she was smiling, “go on if you have to.” she knows.
no matter the courage or the amount of times you backwards count, you cant stand on your feet. you’ve been trying, for conversations now. “i-..” cutting your own self off, you tear your eyes off the frame on the wall, dragging them all the way to her. “i don’t think i physically can” cheeks set aflame, a shameful giggle making its way out your chest.
this friendship has always been playful, and each time it gets more and more effective - which is both good and bad. depending whose perspective you see it from.
even when she tries her best to not smile, her eyes always do. they always did, her mouth didn’t have to. “whys that? need help?” such a tone. what a tone. she knew just the right buttons to push, like a favourite video game, she knew just what to do, and she would know so even blind.
I probably already made or reblogged a post about this but whatever I like talking about Things
Anyway I've been on this site for many many years. And every year I see the funny lawyer game trending. It's always the same screenshot being tossed around on December 24th.
""Almost Christmas" means it wasn't Christmas!"
Of course, having not played this game yet, I thought it was one of the Funnie Lines from the Funnie Lawyer game.
So anyway: the year is 2021 and I finally get to playing Ace Attorney: Phoenix Wright for the first time. I get to the 4th case and, after losing my mind for a bit over Edgeworth holding the gun, realise that it's a case on Christmas.
"Oh, they're going to do the Christmas meme in this one!" I say to my roommate, unknowing.
I get the the trial on the second day. Everything is building up: DL-6 trauma, Von Karma's influence on Edgeworth, and of course a "Guilty" verdict that you get no matter what.
And then I finally got to say it. I see the question and a set of answers on my screen. I'm shaking and nearly crying. I had no idea it would turn out like this. With sweaty hands I select the answer I know is correct:
""Almost Christmas" means it wasn't Christmas!"
We overturned the case. We get another day for an investigation. I save and quit the game for the day to process the whiplash I experienced after learning where the Funnie Meme came from.
