I'm actually becoming obsessed with the idea that I referenced in my previous post, that the law Indara was citing was made in response to the Elders of the Path and is the magic space wizard equivalent of a law regulating homeschooling by fundamentalist religious groups. Because the general public doesn't give a shit about this stuff, but you know who does- Zeen and Lula. They spend their time after the Nihil are defeated lobbying for it to be a law. But they obviously don't see the Jedi Order as the end all be all for force sensitivity- Lula left the Order to be with Zeen. So what Indara was prevented from saying was something more along the lines of "traditions that train force sensitive children need to be approved by the Conclave on Jedha that they're not space gay conversion therapy/ABA therapy". There's a very good argument that not giving a force sensitive child training in any tradition is the equivalent of not allowing your nuerodivergent child to be diagnosed and accommodated. (Which is why until it was confirmed to not be the case in the new eu I thought it made the most sense for the Jedi to be allowed to take children without parental consent, and that they just didn't do so when there was another Force tradition in the picture. The alternative would be the equivalent of parental religious exemption for medical care and education.)

But then because of a failure of communication (one of the themes of the high republic!)- and yes the Jedi fucking up as well- there is the unexpected consequence of what we see in the Acolyte. This is what I love about Star Wars being such a broad setting, the world doesn't just exist for one set of protagonists and their actions can have unexpected consequences long after they're dead.

Quill- he’s the team leader he’s the guy ever he was in college to be a marine biologist before he dropped out due to depression and joined the knockoff Star Wars Rebellion. His greatest fear is losing someone he loves to depression / general mental health but he gets so agitated whenever someone comes to him for help (and much of his worry manifests as anger) that it actually keeps people from reaching out to him. He’s obsessed with the Octonauts.

Em- she’s the muscle the brawler the ‘angry one’ as much as she wishes she wasn’t but it’s all she knows how to be. She has to hold grudges because if she doesn’t no one will and she’s always the last to leave any situation because she ran away once as a small child and lost everything. She’s said some unforgivably cruel things when she’s angry because she can’t think over the overwhelming urge to make someone else Hurt. She bullies people as a love language (both banter and actual physical rolling-on-the-ground tussling)

Owen- he’s the acrobat the gymnast the stealth the one in the rafters looking down. He spent his life alone and only recently discovered the joys of being a clown of being funny enough to finally have the attention he craves. He plays it up relentlessly but deep down he’s so scared he’ll end up too much and drive everyone away. He’s the youngest and the protected and it’s both gratifying and stifling. He’s cheeky he’s gullible one time he dyed Quill’s hair green and got away with it because no one suspected him.

Rowan- he’s a rich kid he’s a spy he’s the actor the infiltrator the rogue element the traitor. He decided to doom himself to a painful death rather than ask his friends for help. His natural posture is the letter C. He might be transfem but that won’t occur to him for many years because who has time for gender right now. He’s got a guilt complex. He’s a gay theater kid. He’s incredibly socially awkward. He doesn’t know who he is behind all the masks and is convinced he’ll never be more than his worst mistakes. He’s the reason the kitchen is equipped with four fire extinguishers.

Wedge- they’re the hacker the tech wizard. They’re not even all that good at computer stuff. They grew up as an Empire military kid and the guilt for still loving their family complicit in an evil system eats at them daily. They have ADHD. They’re terrified they’re going to let everyone down like they have all their life. Their family thinks they work at Space Walmart except Cousin Julia who knows what they are (rebel) and goes through Candace from Phineas and Ferb level shenanigans to expose them and it never works. They play Minecraft curled up in a kitchen cabinet. They got so worried about their abysmal pain tolerance and being the weak link that they briefly tried to blackmail Rowan into giving them lessons in torture resistance. They main Kirby in Smash Bros and suck at it.

Alex- loser high schooler dies (cringe) and becomes a loser ghost. Died with a massive zit and now it’s part of his eternal appearance. No he’s not cripplingly lonely shut up.

Vida- your typical snarky unimpressed middle schooler. Misses her mom :( (died under mysterious circumstances and with a secret past). Secretly loves explosions and funky chemicals. Lowkey disappointed that Alex is just a dork teenager and not a proper gorey scary ominous ghost.

Jamie- Average tween girl likes 20 kinds of bugs is a statistical error. The average tween girl likes around 5 types of bugs (rolly pollies, butterflies, ladybugs, dragonflies, bees) Insects Jeorg who adores every single bug in existence is an outlier adn should not have been counted.

Evan- token cautious nerd. She couldn’t commit to one gender and you think he can make big plot important decisions? Massive fantasy book nerd but in the sense that she wants to stay Far Away from actual magic bc do you even know what happens to people in stories who mess with that kinda stuff?? Lifelong trauma at BEST.

Miko- your typical plucky orphan who lives in a magic boarding school learning to be a wizard. Absolute goober. >:D . They are party rockin in the house tonight. Surprisingly chill abt their home being invaded by Evil Conquering Anti-Magic Kingdom (lie). They’re so silly and that’s all dw about it.

what’s the difference between star wars and star trek. didn’t star trek literally copy star wars

well (as far as im aware..i was never that into star wars sadly) sw is more of like. a fantasy adventure that also happens to take place in space in a distant galaxy in the past and is about war and is also more based in the airforce (?) it started as a movie series and only had a couple of spinoff TV shows that were made later, while st is about exploring strange new worlds and not being racist to aliens and goofy shenanigans and gay people (there was a war at one point though) takes place in the future and was aired as a tv show in 1966 about 11 years before star wars came out, and it still exists as mainly a series of tv shows with a couple of movies (also some movies and shows take place in an alternate timeline? not too sure what’s going on with that) and its more based in the navy

basically sw = space fantasy with wizards about the horrors of war and st = exploring and getting into shenanigans and humanity

This is s3; ahsoka's not even confirmed alive let alone IN this ep and this ep is about sabine who's not even connected to ahsoka why are there convorees here? omigod it was FORESHADOWING? alternatively filoni just puts random animals in the background sometimes so he can pretend he knows what he's doing still haven't figured out the symbolic significance of the convorees in TCW "Bound for Rescue" helpful reference if you need it

Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope

A strong start, these guys are under attack by bad guys, and these 2 gay looking robots are the plucky duo of not the most importance but still some, very evil guys kill everyone and an especially evil looking guy shows up and is ominous. Everything is extremely impressive looking, now it's a sand planet with weird guys. Whiny boy on a sand planet stumbles into a calling from the rebels against the big evil empire, also he's like an orphan who wants to leave his shitty small town, trouble strikes. and a weird ass wizard appears who has a magic sword and connections to his fathers. There's a bunch of evil old guys in a big evil space station, awesome stuff. everyone loves Han Solo, what a guy, how cool he is, how much not murder he did and instead self defense, CGI jabba is there I guess. "that's no moon" etc. etc. They rescue the princess and there's a trash compactor and some storm trooper comedy while they escape the death star you know the drill. Obi-wan and Vaders fight is, they really didn't have the money to put into the choreography yet you can tell, meanwhile the turrets Han and Luke use are awesome, love em. Now, where the money wasn't put into swordfighting, it was probably put into the dogfights, they made multiple games where you fly star wars ships for a reason and this is it. They blow up the death star and go home everyone wins yay!

With a future perspective on movies that absolutely love using CGI, like entirely filmed on a greenscreen type movies, this shit is really impressive, all these costumes and sets, both are extremely good with the details, specifically the sets man everything is just so greebled. The ship and droid designs, truly iconic, everyone loves TIE fighter, X-wing and star destroyer. This is the special edition though, so there's extra CGI crap just everywhere for some reason. No one has ever complained about the music in star wars before, it's extremely good, same for the lightsaber and ships sounds, awesome and definitive.

Missed Me With That

I just watched some chick say she's sad The Acolyte is dead because she liked that sh*t and, instead of dismissing her obviously wrong opinion, i took it serious. I actually thought about that sh*t for a second and ignored the fact everything about that show is bad. It dawned on me that there has to be a certain amount of people who DID enjoy that flaming bag of ssh*t somehow. Pardon my geek, because i got some sh*t to say about all of that. The most egregious thing to me about Disney Star Wars is, aside from writing good scripts, was all of this bullsh*t could have been avoided. All of it. Just set your trilogy outside the Skywalker saga. That's it. Leave what came before alone and make your own sh*t. KOTOR exists. SWTOR exists. Cade Skywalker exists. Darth Bane exists, both in canon and Legends. F*cking create something new. Why did this specific story, or any of them really, absolutely HAVE to be Skywalker adjacent?It's almost as if someone has a four and a half year long grudge against Lucas or something, and is doing everything in her power to destroy what he created in order to steal that valor for herself. Wait... The Acolyte got canceled Normies didn't watch it. That vocal minority everyone keeps trying to pin this on definitely exists, but there aren't enough of them to actually sway the numbers like that. Regular folks who think space wizards and laser swords are cool, watch three episodes of that trash and bailed because it was bad. Fans bailed because the show is disrespectful to a damn near fifty year history. Bigots with pinky dicks bailed because of all the "Woke" agenda sh*t. I bailed because, during a murder investigation, the Jedi didn't even check the f*cking cameras on that goddamn space frigate! They're cops! That's investigation 101! Your show can be as stupid and gay and opinionated as you want. Tying it to characters that have GENERATIONAL fan bases, that's been in the pop culture zeitgeist for almost half a century, is f*cking questionable. To commit to that, while pushing so much transparent animosity for the fans who made that franchise big enough for you to even have this opportunity, and to execute that vitriol with all the subtlety of a riot brick through a window, is the dumbest sh*t, ever. To do so poorly, with sh*tty scripts, paper thin characters, and a plot that doesn't make any f*cking sense, is basically suicide. You get what you f*cking deserve. It's a shame really. I've said, pretty consistently, that there was potential in The Acolyte. The concept was strong but the wrong people were in charge of bringing that idea to life. It could have been a brand new era to explore, something Kennedy could do whatever the f*ck she wanted with, outside of what Lucas built, but nope! Lesbian Space Witches created the method Plaugueis used to make Vader. Only after they created Osha, who is a superior specimen of a Force Vergence. Because b*tches get sh*t done. Set all of this nonsense just after the Jedi became a thing, and you're good to go. The Stranger can legit be the "first" Sith. Osha can be the first of many Vergences. This Jedi council can fall by the wayside, a grim reminder of their hubris, long forgotten by the Clone Wars. Right there, The Acolyte has a chance. No one is comparing it to the Skywalker saga. It's a blank slate for you to run wild with whatever messaging you want to Force down people's throats. It's not going to ruin Disney's Quarter. Fans have something new, Normies can see another side of the overall universe, Neckbeards can go f*ck themselves with their needle dicks, and i, hopefully, can get a Jedi Knight smart enough to check the goddamn cameras!
