On this day, three years ago, Frank and I were exploring Barcelona together.

I know the place well, having worked there so much over the years. But it's always nice to visit without a work agenda or deadlines. So we did lots of wandering, lots of eating and quite a bit of people-watching.

Barcelona is the perfect place to sit quietly with a beer and watch the world go by. And I've just realised that the next time I'm in Barcelona, I'll be on my way to Sitges Pride in June 🎉🏳️‍🌈

I remember on the run-up to the release of Harry Styles' 2022 film MY POLICEMAN a critic I followed on Twitter would rave in reminiscence of seeing the love scene at some pre-screening and how revolutionary it was. Then when the film was released he walked back his raves because it wasn't how he remembered it and he admitted to maybe over-egging it because he was so happy to see a a gay love scene.

But here's to films/tv shows that don't over-egg. That don't gas up the sex scenes so that when viewers finally see it they'd be like

Instead they could be pleasantly surprised much like I was when I saw Ira Sach's PASSAGES

and the Paramount+ limited series FELLOW TRAVELERS.

Ben Whishaw, I have too much respect for you to nearly stare into your bumhole. I lreserve that for when I'm watching Aaron Taylor-Johnson in SAVAGES.

If only the relationship between Ben and Franz's characters was this wholesome in the film.

-Ben is rumoured to be dating his THIS IS GOING TO HURT costar Kadiff Kirwan of MY POLICEMAN and currently in SLOW HORSES and the charming C4 comedy EVERYONE ELSE BURNS (which is airing in the US on the CW).

Next up for Ben?

Netflix's thriller BLACK DOVES where he will play the longtime confidante of Keira Knightley's Helen.

-He has a short film that people are hoping for Oscars consideration, which will be tough when Wes Anderson's quartet of short films

are out there, but surely it's better than the pair of Pedro Almodovar's short films STRANGE WAY OF LIFE and THE HUMAN VOICE

-A long ways off is the third installment of the PADDINGTON films. PADDINGTON IN PERU will be released November 2024 in the UK and January 2025 in the U.S. Due to the SAG-AFTRA strike Rachel Zegler (THE HUNGER GAMES: THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES) has departed the project. She has been replaced by Gina Cabot of HBO Espana's 30 MONEDAS/ 30 COINS (whose second series is currently airing on Max).

On Skam and gayness

So Skam works like so, every season has a new POV/main character and the past main characters become background/supporting characters in the next season.

So Skam season 3 is the gay one (Skam is Norwegian for “shame” and every season is about a character confronting and overcoming something they’re ashamed of)

Skam the original show was so popular a number of companies bought the rights to make it in their own country, so there’s Skam France, Skam Espana, Druck(German), and Skam Itala. Druck is my favorite remake because they do something very different from the original (but still gay)

It’s well worth checking out and since every season is it’s own story you can watch season 3 without missing anything really

Ok I finally finished Elite S6 so get ready for a whole ass essay! I LOVED this season, I think it is their best since S3 for sure with the most depth to the storylines. I really liked Nico and Rocío and I liked that they kept Bilal in the show after introducing him before. I loved Dídac and surprisingly Isadora was amazing this season. I couldn’t stand her in S5 but they really developed her character. I never really warmed to her before but I hated Ari this season and Sonia is too good for this world. On the other hand Patrick and Ivan?? Can they not just let one couple in the whole show be happy? So Ivan’s dad just got killed and now Patrick’s left while he was in a coma? He’s literally got nothing left. They better bring Patrick back and reunite them. In other news have you seen who’s joining the cast for S7?! Omar is coming back and the guy who played Alejandro in Skam Espana 😆🤣 If they bring Omar back and try and hook him up with Ivan I will be so mad. They already ruined Omander but not every gay character has to hook up with each other. Also the ending.. I was not expecting that at all. Can’t wait for next season now

i didn’t like samu and i loved rebbe but she was losing her touch and the prince and cleaner were too cliche and too messy for me

isaaaa she was great this season and i did enjoy the season but patrick and ivan was so so annoying they got to be happy for like 0.002 minutes

i loved how painful and honest it was to see the rapists still at school taunting isa also her depth asking for love

ari was a lot as usual but we’ll i’m used to it by now
