Hey y'all! The iron pills seem to be working, and I'm a lot less fatigued than I have been lately, but the downside is I am reaaaally struggling to focus so I do not have a crafting update (the gavle goat does have a head now but it is not attached). It'll even out, this just happens every time my energy levels improve lol I went to the store today to get a horse plushie I could decapitate and add a teddy-bear-style torso to to make a centaur bear but the only horse plushie in the entire store was one of those "walking toys" for little kids and I have been specifically forbidden* from making plushies that can move :(
*aka the part of my family I live with was like no, absolutely not, do not make moving plushies, please no
#the person behind the yarn#I do have a small horse plushie but I want to make it a mothman centaur#mothman horse. mothmorse. horse man#no not that last one

Gavle goat plushie progress! My initial draft of the body pattern wasn't going to work, so I redrew it, and now I have one leg sewn (for proof of concept and to compare sizing), the body pieces cut out, and just need to sew the other three legs before I can sew the body together. Once I have the body and legs together, I'll tackle drafting the head and neck patterns. The horns will be the last pattern I draft, because I could do a bunch of math to try to figure out how long they should be, or I could wait until I've sewn the rest and hold up some paper in the gap where they should be and draw the pattern on the paper, and one of those is much easier lol
#the person behind the yarn#sometimes the pattern making process involves sewing the central piece of the plushie and THEN drafting the rest of the pattern#the goat is going to be a little smaller than I originally intended#but all the individual pattern pieces should fit onto regular printer paper#so it shouldn't be too tricky to share#it will involve a fair amount of handsewing though#well okay one piece absolutely won't fit on printer paper#but it's just a long rectangle so I can just give the measurements for that piece

Hey y'all I realized I have the right colors of fabric (or close enough) to make the gavle goat (gavlebock?) in plushie form, but how big should I make it? And should I make it floppy and cuddly (the small version probably with my floppy okapi base pattern) or attempt to make it able to stand up on its own, but that would make it less cuddly? I'm leaning towards floppy and cuddly, bigger than the okapi, but smaller than the plesiosaur
#the person behind the yarn#this fuzzy fabric just lends itself so so well to slightly understuffed plushies#that are extremely extremely cuddleable

Thanks everyone for all the ideas! I am still undecided what I'll make, so far I think the only winter holiday plushies I've made are a chris-moose, the gavle goat, a menorah (hanukkiah? I am unsure of the difference), a dreidel, and I think I made little christmas tree plushies years ago but I might've just thought about making them and never actually made them? I have also made some yetis/abominable snowmen over the years but that's just because I like making monsters it's not really linked to any particular time of the year lol
So I make no promises given my everything, but does anyone have any holiday and/or winter-related plushies they'd like to see me make? editing to add: this migraine is eating my words a bit so if I reply to your comments and my reply doesn't quite make sense please feel free to ask clarifying questions I will not be offended I just have some words missing at the moment and some are harder to work around than others. It's not you it's me lol
#the person behind the yarn#trying to think of what other winter/winter holiday plushies I've made#and I am totally drawing a blank. Surely I've made more?#oh my gosh wait I have fire colored yarn left over from a beanie I think#I have the button jointed goat plushie#I gotta make it a sweater#I have been sidetracked lol

Now I have to choose if I want to prioritize cuddleability or accuracy for the gavle goat plushie Also, ease of sewing/limiting hand sewing vs keeping each pattern piece small enough I could share them later...decisions decisions
I have some new colors of fabric, so time for a new
#leaning towards cuddleable and having to hand sew the pieces to each other#but with set in seam limbs#and not sure if I'm going for accurately cylindrical pieces or rounding the edges a bit
