Lachlan rounded a corner towards the surgical board, his hand coming up to beckon Meredith to walk with him. “Grey, come with me.” He said quickly, a small smile on his face. “How’s the navy scrubs? I have to say, it’s good to see your name in the attendings box.” He said, head cocking towards the surgical board. “What do you say? Want some company in the OR today?”

her own life drama had prevented amelia from fully getting to know her new niece. as she tried to deal with the news of losing her baby for the past nine months, the youngest shepherd had avoided any kids of her family in fear of breaking down. but as she was on the road to healing (no matter how long it would take her), she realized that zola shouldn’t have to suffer. she was after all the best aunt she had. “hey mer. you possibly didn’t see a cute little girl? about this height, name’s zola and she is my favourite niece but don’t tell her if you see her.” she said to her sister-in-law, looking at zola hiding behind her mother.

a night in was precisely what cristina needed - a night away from the research and work that was completely consuming her. she was reluctant to agree, but if anyone could force her not to use pointless excuses it was meredith. she sat down next to her friend with a drink in hand, "where have you been? i feel like i haven't seen you in forever. i've seen alex more than you."

“Doctor Grey.” Celeste greeted the younger woman with a nod of her head, floating her hand under the hand sanitizer as she walked into the room. She’d asked the attending to meet her in the lab after her surgery was finished. Celeste had been observing Meredith since she arrived in Seattle; it wasn’t done in a creepy way. The redhead wanted to know what to expect from Meredith Grey. She couldn’t take the woman just at the experience and reputation of her mother. Celeste had to see for herself; but she could admit, Meredith was impressive. There was room for improvement, as there should be in a young surgeon, but there was more to cultivate. And perhaps, Celeste could entice Meredith’s curiosity with her own research. “Thank you for meeting me. How was your surgery? Successful I hope?”

Chuckling when he realized that he and Meredith were the only ones at the table at least for that minute as everyone else had gone to say hello to someone else, or to get more drinks, he smiled and waved her over so they could chat as they waited for everyone else to get back. “How’s your evening going, Dr. Grey?” he asked, jokingly calling her by her professional name when he usually just called her Meredith. Cormac was really fond of Meredith, and he felt like he had someone in his corner as the two newest Shepherd in-laws added to the group. At the very least, he was always thankful to have Meredith there at family dinners to exchange the odd equally shocked or horrified expression to something that was said. Really, it was all about solidarity.

After everything that happened with Amelia he tended to avoid the Shepherd clan. It just saved him a lot of arguing he didn’t need. It helped that he worked outside of the hospital now so he didn’t need to go down to the hospital anymore. He was ordering a coffee at the coffee shop down the street when he spotted Meredith. He knew she didn’t hate him like most of them did but it wasn’t like he didn’t try with Amelia. Things just didn’t work out for them. “Hey, Meredith.” He said as he got his coffee.

Benjamin moved through the peds floor, eyes scanning for the doctor he was after. He had a surgery booked for later in the afternoon, nothing he couldn’t handle of course, but there was something in the chart he didn’t like. “Doctor Greene.” He said, offering the other a polite smile, elbow leaning against the top of the nurses station. “One of your patients, Mikey Tran, is scheduled for surgery with me this afternoon. But I��m a little bit worried about some of his pre-existing medical conditions - if you’ve got the time I’d appreciate having you in the OR with me.”

“was this a donovan move in together or did you chase your brother’s tail?” dylan joked as he approached the woman at joe’s bar. he signaled the bartender to bring them another round. “i saw tommy the other day. i’ve gotta say, it’s a surprise to see familiar faces in seattle.” ever since his oldest brother noah joined his dad’s firehouse, tommy had become a dear friend at the campbell’s house. sometimes that meant nellie joined in for barbecues but he couldn’t say he remembered much about her. “and you - you surely changed.” his recollection of her was tommy’s baby sister and that was it.

the dreary, dimly lit bar had become a comforting place. mostly because it was the closest place that felt like it could plausibly be back home. it wasn't very busy on this night, mostly just a few miserable old men. very homely. she vaguely recognised the newcomer that took a seat next to her. she was pretty sure they had shared a case on in the past week, but she was still struggling with putting names to faces. that was the main reason she made contact. "long day?"

"I wouldn’t pick the lemon tart, if I were you.” Gabriela had been eyeing up the pastries and sweet treats at the coffee cart herself, knowing that it was exactly what she needed to get her through the day. Over the years she had probably sampled each and every one of them, so she liked to think she knew exactly which ones to avoid. “Almond croissant, or the chocolate chip shortbread. Top two in the case, I promise.” She assured the other, a knowing look on her face.

cristina had decided it was a smart idea to take a nap two hours before she had somewhere to be - and now she only had thirty minutes before she had somewhere to be and was hastily getting dressed when the door went. knowing it was meredith, because she hadn't invited anyone else, she went over to open the door without looking. "if you see an earring can you tell me. it's disappeared."

the hotel room was a disaster, cristina had been there an hour and a half and there were clothes everywhere, and the bed sheets couldn't be more messy. at least she was glad she had opted for the hotel, or she wouldn't have been able to have such a great nap. "don't step on it." she paused and looked down at the floor. "or do step on it? then it's found." she shrugged and went back to trying to find the right pair of shoes.
