I'm glad she still loves me after our humble 3.4 mile hike turned into a 6.4 mile hike. They should really tell you when there's a 1.5 mile hike to get to the trail that you want. If you need either one of us today, we'll be in an exercise stupor. #hike #getoutside #adventuresinnonsense #adventurebuddy #oliviagrace #gatrails #northgeorgia #wandernorthgeorgia #columbia #sosweaty #whydididothat #365project #140activeminutes #saturday #sunny

Kennesaw Mountain: Cheatham Hill Loop
Sometimes you just have to get up and get out, even if you are rolled up nicely like a burrito in bed on a Saturday morning. Going out for a morning hike at the Kennesaw trail will definitely make up for getting out of bed early. This particular trail on the Cheatham Hill/ Kolb Farm loop is approximately 5+ miles. I would rate the trail difficulty level as moderate because of the vigorous up hills you encounter in some parts but the overall path is smooth. The trail runs through the forest, vast grassy fields, and small creeks.  Along the path, you will hear the sound of the songbirds and spot deer’s, turtles, snakes, and frogs every now and then.  Parts of the trail are designated for those on horseback.  The trail also has monuments and signs that mark the historical points of the battle that occurred in the Civil War. Today, this area has been restored and is appreciated for its natural, tranquil beauty. I personally love this trail because it is a shaded, refreshing path in the forest, where you encounter a variety of natural vegetation and trees.  The trail is not to be missed in the spring, when flowers bloom and color.

Chattahoochee River: Azalea Park
Walk, walk, walk until you burn just enough to eat another slice of cake are the words I tell myself as I go out for a hike. For me, hiking and eating would be considered my hobbies but l should probably keep that on the low. Either way, they are my little joys even if they seem contradicting to each other.       This week’s hike was to the trail that runs along the Chattahoochee River by Azalea Drive in Roswell. The trail is a 7-mile paved path for people to walk or ride their bikes. There are several parking areas, playgrounds, picnic areas, and ramps to access the river to go kayaking, canoeing, rafting or fishing. Personal kayaks, canoes, and rafts can be brought into the river or they can be rented at the business location, Shoot on the Hooch. I personally enjoy kayaking in the river in the summertime to get the whole nature experience but because of the cold weather, I just walked along the trail this time. Other nearby sites is the Roswell Visitor Center and the Chattahoochee Nature Center, which I have not yet visited but I will someday. As you walk by the trail, you get to feel the breezy winds, see the continuous flowing water, and watch the ducks be ducks.  Along the path, there are also posted rocks that mark important areas where the Cherokee and Creeks once lived before they were forced to move in 1838 against their will. Today, we could only reflect and learn from the past and enjoy natural beauty that remains in the area.  Another common highlight about the trail is that it only about 30 minutes from Atlanta, so it is another beauty that is not far from home. Azalea Park has all the features needed for a perfect day outdoors.
