Zaterdag 20/01/2018

Spannend... De wekker luidde de bel omstreeks 06.00 uur. Hmmmm toch nog heel even omdraaien om dan een kwartiertje later toch maar uit de veren te springen.

Koffie zetten, chocoladebroodjes de oven in, douchen, laatste keer alles checken..

Klaar voor vertrek. Om klokslag 07.30 uur vertrekken we op het punt van afspraak richting Charleroi van waaruit onze vlucht richting Valencia vertrekt.

Na anderhalf uurtje op de Belgische autowegen bereiken we de luchthaven. Onze chauffeur heeft dat voortreffelijk gedaan. We kunnen ontspannen aan de trip beginnen.

Blijkt dat enkele leerlingen ons voor zijn en reeds aan een lekker ontbijt zitten bij ‘Chez Paul’. We gunnen ons op dit ochtelijke uur toch ook nog maar een koffietje. Dat smaakt..

Mondjesmaat komt iedereen toe, carpoolend, met ouders, zonder ouders, .... Ja, man we zijn echt wel ‘jong’volwassenen die met ons meereizen.

Een hele belevenis om zo met 9 jongens en meisjes van 17-18-19 te reizen en te begeleiden op hun buitenlands avontuur. En niet zomaar één. Een stage van 3 weken in Valencia.

Nadat we de bagage en onszelf incheckten, hebben we nog even ‘vrij’ rond gelopen in de taxfree zone. Voor sommigen was het even spannend. Kruitcontrole (zo’n staafje over je handen), schoenen uit, ... Maar alles ging goed. We kregen iedereen mee ;-)

Dan was het wachten tot Gate8 opende om te kunnen boarden. Dit duurde lang. We zijn uiteindelijk dan ook met een vertraging van 3 kwartier vertrokken.

Geen probleem zolang we maar veilig aankwamen. Na de landing nog snel een foto van de leerlingen, zij worden gebombardeerd tot ware modellen.. met of tegen hun zin ;-)

Eenmaal iedereen zijn bagage had, zijn we naar de uitgang gegaan. Daar stond een man ons op te wachten. Toen hij wist dat wij het waren riep hij zijn 2 andere collega’s om te helpen. Blijkbaar was onze contactpersoon vergeten dat onze leerlingen wel 3 weken zouden blijven... Gevolg: bagage ging niet in de 3 voorziene wagens. Even snel bellen in ‘t Spaans en man wat praten die snel. Een TGV is er niets tegen. Probeer dat maar eens te volgen.

Oplossing er wordt een extra taxi opgebeld 10 minuutjes laten is iedereen veilig en wel vertrokken op de luchthaven. Ondertussen was ik met de eerste wagen en lading leerlingen gearriveerd aan de appartementen.

Een smal straatje Calle Torn de l’Hopital herbergt een mooi en redelijk modern appartementencomplex met wat ik noem luxueuzere appartementen. (als je vergelijkt met bv. Praag).

Niet getreurd, de leerlingen vinden de weg naar hun kamer elk met hun eigen sleutel. Installeren is de boodschap en ondertussen breng ik de laatste administratieve zaken in orde.

Er wordt een fotoshoot gedaan van de appartementen om bij in het mapje te steken voor volgend jaar.

Na de fotoshoot en enkele minuten om nog op te frissen begeven we ons naar de supermarkt om de inkopen te doen voor elk appartement.

Er heerste een gemoedellijke sfeer en iedereen ging met een volle kar naar buiten. Snel naar het appartement en dan chillen .... En koken natuurlijk.

Wij keren ook naar het hotel en hebben een korte pauze. Tegen alle Spaanse regels in gaan we om 19.00 uur eten. Als je de dag doorkomt met 2 chocoladebroodjes kan je wel raden dat je honger hebt.

Lekker gegeten bij La Tagliatella, een korte stadswandeling door het drukke centrum en afsluiten met een slaapmutsje op een boogscheut van het hotel.

Wat moet een mens nog meer hebben?

Luggage Review: Gate8 Cabin Mate

If you have seen my review of Gate8’s Tri-Fold Garment Mate you will know I am already a fan of the company. So when a new package from Gate8 arrived, I was excited to discover their latest offering: Cabin Mate.

Gate8 Cabin Mate the newest offering is an ingenious, highly useful three-in-one bag that can be used as a suitcase or a rucksack and when you only have your laptop to carry around, it offers a detachable laptop bag. I use the laptop bag all the time now to carry my 13″ MacBook Pro to work (the bag is designed for laptops up to 16″).

On my recent short trip to Paris, I re-attached the laptop bag to the suitcase and used its easy-to-access compartments at the front to hold my passport, mobile, business cards, pens, and other necessities. And, once at my hotel, I detached it again to carry my laptop bag to a meeting leaving the main bag with the clothes in the hotel.

There are the traditional two carrying handles, one at the top and one on the side of the bag, but it has silent wheels too with a telescopic handle (I am 1m80 and the length was perfect) for pulling it behind me. However, the bag’s main difference is that it comes with rucksack straps and, when I carried it on my back, I appreciated the protective cover that pulled over the wheels so that they did not come into contact with my shirt. On two occasions the rucksack feature was a blessing: the first was when I was late for the boarding gates and pulling the bag behind me was slowing me down; and the second was when I had to walk across a muddy field – carrying the bag on my back was easier than in my hand.

My packing list for the trip fitted snugly and included two pairs of trousers, three pairs of socks and underwear, pyjama, shirts and two T-shirts and a sweater. The garment hanger was useful to fold the trousers to avoid creasing, but I would have liked the possibility to remove it when not needed as it takes up space.

I liked the transparent, washable, toiletries bag. It was useful to be able to detach it when I had to go through airport security, without the need to fully open the suitcase. The bag is made of strong, quality plastic and has a zip at the top and I could take it out once at the hotel and put it straight into the bathroom.

Overall, Gate8 Cabin Mate is an ideal cabin bag for the business traveller. It does have its downfalls though as it is only suitable for a short (2-3 night) trip, but if that is all you need this is a stylish, quality, flexible bag that will last you years.

マレーシアマラッカへのバス旅

世界遺産のマラッカまで行ってみようとバス旅にチャレンジ！

日帰りだし無事帰ってこれるか？

その前にバスのチケットを買わねば。

おーデカいバスステーション　TBSにやってきました。

空港かよって感じで掲示板があります。

あれまー　チケット売り場は物凄い人の列です。たぶん40分は並んで買いました。

帰りのチケットも帰るのと聞いてみたがノーでした。帰りのバスステーション

で買ってくださいと。まじかー、帰りも初の場所なのに(^^;

こんなチケットが買えます。RM１０で行けるんです。安い！

身分証明書があると良いです。名前まで入力さます。

チケットに書いてあるGate8まで行き、バスを待つばかりです。

これが何か難しいのですよ。時間通りに運航していれば良いのですが、

交通渋滞で遅れが必ずあります。そうすると表示されているバスと違う

のがゲートに来ていたりして乗客を呼ぶアナウンスがあります。しかし、

これがマレー語のみ、分かりません。

そんなこんなで長距離バスは1時間ちょっとでマラッカの近くバスターミナルに

付きます。ここから路線バスでマラッカまで行きます。

どのバスから分からないから聞いてみるとこの17番で待てと

また仕組み不明、いくらなの？　どのバス停で降りればいいの？

まったく分からないまま乗車です。

行き当たりばったりです。でも楽しい。

乗車です。人の後をついてぞろぞろ(笑)

皆ガイドブック片手に、しかし日本人はただひとりでした。

Permanently docked in the heart of Gibraltar’s Ocean Village marina development, the 142m long Sunborn offers five star guest rooms and suites across seven floors. There’s also a casino, top floor restaurant, pool bar, spa and fitness centre.

Gibraltar has nature reserves, botanical gardens, panoramic vistas of Morocco from the summit of the Rock, sandy beaches, watersports and, of course, the Barbary Macaques – mainland Europe’s only wild monkey population.

There’s also dolphin sightseeing tours, ancient limestone caves to explore and rich military history all within a 2.6 square mile area.

A trip to the Upper Rock Nature reserve, where you’re pretty much guaranteed to have a close encounter with one of the Rock’s resident primates is an absolute must. Mini bus tours of the Rock are readily available, while you can also opt to take a cable car up to the top and explore it for yourself.
