Bicolored Striped Sweat Bee (Agapostemon virescens) in my backyard this month. Agapostemon Bees make their nests in the ground, usually nesting alone. This particular species is one of several in North America which occasionally nests together with several other females, using the same entrance (which often looks similar to low ant mound). Following on from my earlier bee post, this gal got into a bit of trouble and was clearly exhausted. CT gallantly came to the rescue with some sugar water. We then put her in a sunny spot to digest and warm up. After about 20 minutes she had recovered enough to fly off.
