oh also do u know any fun facts abt the development of faith or any cool easter eggs?
oh my goodness one of my favorite behind the scenes things to look at is the self made rotoscope references. its so. inspiring to me as an artist. lemme grab it.
https://youtu.be/CcJIE9kjoQo?si=Pebrol6zrjJ4uGlD
https://youtu.be/4tjjaexTUeQ?si=3XDTj1RR4GcmJNW9
like . what do i even say like he knows how to overact just enough to make the emotion compelling and legible in the pixelly artstyle WHICH IMPROVED OVER TIME . wow. and i love looking at it also. ougghhgg
some of my fav easter eggs arw garcia related. in the prolouge to chapter two if you go into the closet as garcia you will pick up a "nasus" which appears to be a clown nose. now i believe this is from a scrapped idea ? because it never gets elaborated on. im unsure if this has anything to do with johns canonical fear of clowns. a clown Does appear in the second to last fight in faith chapter 3. i dunno! but its neat. garcia probably has a clown sidegig or something.
in chapter 1 there are many instances where garcia can be found. hiding. watching you. if you go to the right of the first screen a couple times you can see him hiding behind a tree i believe. and get close enough garcia will run away and drop that same nose i mentioned earlier. unsure what this means. he can also appear in the window of the martin house. also running away when you get too close. this has happened to me. several times and it spooks me when i realize hes there. im sure hes just looking for michael but its creepy nonetheless.

can you write something where the bau has a halloween party and they all dress up and spencer has had a crush on fem!reader for a while and he legit only goes to the party to see her and he gets rlly flustered (as always) when he sees her in her sexy costume but like he’s rlly nervous and maybe something happens😁
SLUTTY HALLOWEEN COSTUMES ARE MY FAV YESSS
TW: mention of sex, sub!spencer
-
Spencer’s developed a slight crush on one of the agents in the sex crimes division. He’s only seen her in passing; occasionally, they take the elevator together— her to the fourth floor, him to the sixth. He learns through Penelope (and a slight abuse of technological power) that her name is (Y/N) (Y/L/N), she’s twenty-nine (two years older than him), and very, very qualified to be in the bureau.
The moments he sees her are few and fleeting, but dreamy nonetheless. There’s a soft halo around her face, faint music playing in the background to accompany her beauty. She flashes him a kind, tight-lipped smile, and a wave. He can never move to wave back in time— she always comes and goes at the speed of light. Spencer supposes it’s the universe's way of torturing him— teasing him with a gorgeous woman so far out of his league.
The grip on his coffee cup almost gives out completely when he sees her, perched on a desk which happens to be his.
“I’m looking for Penelope Garcia’s office.” She states, not in the mood for mindless chatter.
Spencer points in the direction of her door, just down the hall past the elevators. She smiles and mutters a quick thank you before rushing off, manila folder in hand. He pries his eyes off of her once the door shuts behind her.
“Who’s that?” Morgan inquires, fiddling with a number two pencil.
“(Y/N) (Y/L/N),” Spencer says, “She works in sex crimes.”
He chuckles lowly, “She’s cute.”
The rate at which Spencer whips around is enough to have Morgan surrendering. “Please don’t hit on (Y/N)! I’m planning to ask her out... soon. Just let me have a shot, okay?”
“I wasn’t planning on doing anything, kid.” He reassures. “You guys look cute together.”
Spencer’s cheeks warm at the thought of the two of them hand in hand, like a couple. Once he sees (Y/N) exit Penelope’s office and the elevator close behind her, he rushes to talk to his cheerful colleague.
“Garcia!” He exclaims, slamming the door behind him.
“Hello to you too, boy genius.” She chirps, pushing the purple frames up her nose, “What’s the 411?”
“What was (Y/N) doing here?”
“Oh... (Y/N).” She raises her eyebrows teasingly. “She just wanted me to upload some sex crime stats to the bureau's online database.”
“Oh, okay.”
Penelope smiles, “By the way, I’m hosting a costume party for Halloween— this Saturday, my apartment, come dressed.”
Spencer shrugs, “Garcia... You know I don’t like parties.”
“(Y/N) will be there—”
“I’m in!”
-
Spencer shows up later than expected, hoping that (Y/N)’s already arrived. He’s sad to find out that she hasn’t. The rest of the team is here (minus Rossi and Hotch), along with Anderson and a few members from white-collar and surveillance.
“I’m sure she’ll be here any minute.” Penelope remakes, noticing his uneasiness. He’s dressed a Art The Clown, though much less menacing.
On cue, three firm knocks sound from the door. Penelope entrusts Spencer with her champagne, scurrying over to invite her next guest in.
“(Y/N)!” She cheers, welcoming her in with a hug. Spencer’s ears perk up. “I’m so glad you stopped by!”
(Y/N) guffaws, “Oh, I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”
She steps into the apartment, revealing a very sexy, dare he say slutty (in a positive way!) devil costume. The red mini dress, heels, and fishnets make the blood rush from his head down to his dick.
“Hi, Spencer.” She greets, stealing the spot near the wall next to him. He tries his best to keep his eyes from wandering over her figure; she crosses her arms, pushing up her cleavage— it almost gets him. “I’m surprised to see you here.”
His brows scrunch together, “Y-you are?”
“Yeah. Garcia said you’re not much of a party guy.”
“Oh, y-yeah. I’m not. B-But I do love Halloween.” Spencer shrugs, squeezing the glass in his hand so tightly it might shatter.
“I can tell.” She laughs. “Terrifier. I love those movies.”
“Me too!” He blurts. He wants the ground to swallow him while, but she seems to find his antics endearing.
(Y/N) sighs, “I went with a basic costume this year.” She waves her hand towards the devil horns. “Figured I didn’t have enough time to replicate anything from Hereditary.”
Spencer choses his next words carefully, “W-well, you l-look amazing.”
“Thanks, Spencer.” Her hands fidget to release some of her anxieties. “You look... awesome.”
“T-thanks.”
Neither of them know what to say next. Spencer’s pretending that he can’t see Penelope spying on them from the kitchen.
“So-“
“I-“
They stop to laugh, finding their unison amusing.
Spencer’s blushes, “You go.”
“Sorry.” She mumbles. “I’m not usually this awkward.”
“What do you mean?” He’s confused. She doesn’t seem awkward in the slightest.
“I just...” (Y/N) exhales a shaky breath, “I’ve had a little crush on you for a while. Sometimes I don’t know how to talk to you because you make me so nervous.”
He can’t believe what she’s saying. “I-I make you nervous.” She nods bashfully. “W-wow. It’s just... y-you make me nervous. Ask anyone in the BAU, t-they’ll tell you that I’ve been fascinated with you for some time.”
“I honestly would’ve never guessed.” She admits. “I had no clue you felt the same way.”
“N-now that you know... would you maybe... wanna go on a date with me?” Spencer offers, rocking on the balls of his feet in anticipation.
“Y-yes! I’d love to.” (Y/N) beams, clapping her hands together in excitement.
Spencer takes notice of Penelope's continued interest, flashing her a giddy smile and a thumbs up. She jumps up and down— he can’t help but share her joy.

“What about you Y/n?” You hear Morgan’s voice as you finish up your last report, adding it to the finished pile. You slide your chair towards his desk, Morgan’s foot stopping it before it hit Garcia’s legs. “Craziest thing you saw or dealt with in LA before you quit your job as a cop? Go.”
“Oh, um,” You chuckle. “I could probably go on forever. A lot of weird shit happens in LA.”
“Top 3?”
“Top 3? Okay, first I had a case where a woman killed her husband because he refused to leave their cottage in her name. When my partner and I investigated we found out that she buried him within the walls of their house.”
“Oh my god, no!” Garcia groans.
“Second has to be when I had my right hand inside a man’s chest for nine hours. He was in a really bad car accident and he wouldn’t have made it to the hospital in time so I had to open him up in the middle of the street in order to stop him from bleeding out.”
“That sounds so cool,” Emily beamed, her chin resting on her right hand.
“There goes my dinner,” Garcia spoke.
“His sternum was severely messed up which caused his heart and one of his big blood vessels to start bleeding into his stomach.”
“Wow! It sounds just like that episode from Grey's Anatomy where Meredith had her hand inside that guy's chest. Remember the one who had the bomb inside him? How did it feel to have your hand in someone’s chest?”
“One of my favourite episodes. Uh, it was umm sor- It was bloody and it got worse,” You shrug. “I passed out on the OR floor.” You chuckle thinking about the whole situation and how ridiculous it sounds saying it out loud.
Morgan and Emily crack up laughing as you shake your head. “Yeah, I remember that whole week being so chaotic but that took the cake.”
“Third?” Spencer asks.
“Oh, this one is top on my list. In 2016, there were killer clowns on the loose in Los Angeles.”
“Nah uh. Nope!” Morgan shakes his head as you notice him tense up at the mention of clowns.
“Morgan has coulrophobia,” JJ said giggling at Morgan.
“What really?” You asked, JJ nodded.
“Oh yeah, Morgan’s not a fan of Halloween, people in costumes or masks.”
“Listen,” Morgan put his hand out. “Costumes and masks give me the hibbie jibbies. Just no.”
“Hey everyone knows you're terrified of clowns but no one here knows why exactly you're terrified of them. What’s the story behind clowns?” Emily asks.
Morgan puts five fingers up. “I had evil older cousins.”
“Oh!!” Everyone laughs.
“Morgan,” You pat his shoulder. “I was traumatized by my older cousins too but don’t worry their all going to hell.”
“I just don’t like the way they look, with the red nose, and all that face paint and masks,” Morgan explains.
“You know the fear of clowns usually stems from the feeling of not knowing what’s going on underneath the mask or costume,” You still remember the words of your captain.
“I just don’t care. If I were to see a clown I will hands down punch it.” Garcia and you just laugh at how passionately Morgan seemed about his hate for clowns.
“2016 was a fucking weird year for LA. It started out as a harmless prank but people just took it too far. I think the LAPD arrested close to 2,000 clowns,” You sounded so ridiculous saying this out loud.
“I just glad weird fucking shit doesn’t happen here in Washington.”
“What would you do if a clown showed up at your apartment?” Spencer asked as
Morgan glared at him. “Why would you ever say such a thing?” Morgan spat, getting upset. “I’d probably kick its ass.”
“Morgan you're scared of like,” Emily waves her hand around. “Everything.” She laughs. “Remember that case we had NYC, and it was Halloween? You were so annoyed that people had decorations up.”
“Oh,” JJ faces lights up. “I remember that and the woman's husband who we were trying to find had a cage full of birds! Morgan, you were terrified of those birds!”
“Okay, can we not do this right now?!” Morgan looked annoyed.
“What’s your problem with birds?” You ask.
“I don’t want to talk about it.”
“Well, actually one time Mor-”
“Baby girl, don't you dare say a word!” Morgan warns her as Garcia puts her hands up.
“Hey! That’s not fair, how come Garcia knows the story but not the rest of us?” Emily asks.
“That’s because I was there,” Garcia sips her tea, looking over at you.
“What type of person is scared of birds?” Spencer asks, shaking his head as Morgan sat up in his chair.
“Reid, Reid don’t move but there’s a spider on your shoulder!” Morgan yells as Spencer jumps up from his chair, violently wiping his shoulder.
“GET IT OFF! GET IT OFF! EMILY!!” Spencer continues to move around as you all lose it watching Spencer running around frantically.
“Emily, is it gone?!” He asks, as Emily is holding onto her sides, JJ leaning into her as Garcia was wiping away tears. Morgan's face was tomato red from laughing as you felt like you couldn’t breathe. “Guys! This isn’t funny! Is it gone? Where is it? Please, ser-” You could hear the panic in Spencer’s voice.
“Spencer!” You called. “There was nothing there,” You say, giggling.
“What?”
“Morgan was just pulling your leg,” You playfully smack the back of Morgan’s head as he continues to laugh at Spencer distraught condition. Spencer glares over at Morgan as he grabs the small hand exercise ball off his desk and throws it, hitting Morgan in the face. Everyone bursts out laughing.
“What was that for?”
“For what you just did to me,” Spencer says, putting a hand on his chest.
“Why are you scared of spiders, pretty boy?” Morgan questions.
“I just don’t like them. All their legs and fu-” Spencer shutters at the thought of them.
“Did I ever tell one time Spen-”
“Morgan don’t!”
“Spencer called me over one time because there was a spider on his bedroom ceiling. When I got to his apartment, he was wearing doughnut and smiley faces boxers while trying to kill a spider with a mop.”
“Shut up, your lying!” Emily looks over at Spencer.
“That didn’t actually happen,” Spencer’s face was flushed red with embarrassment.
“Didn’t it?” Morgan holds out his phone, playing a video of Spencer trying to kill the spider.
“This is the best thing ever!” Emily exclaimed.
“YOU MADE A VIDEO?!” Spencer shrieked.
“And I’m not ashamed to admit that I watch it at least twice a day because that video right there is pure gold, baby!” Morgan cheers.
“Who else have you shown that to?” Spencer asked.
“Oh just you guys,” Morgan replies. “My sisters.”
“Oh my god.”
“My mom loved your smiley face and doughnut boxers.”
“YOU SHOWED THIS VIDEO TO YOUR MOM?!” Spencer exclaimed as Garcia kept replaying to the part where Spencer runs behind Morgan.
“Look at his face!” She yells as you and Emily grabbed onto each other from laughing so hard.
“One thing is for sure after watching this video,” JJ says. “Both Spencer and Morgan radiate so much chaotic energy off each other.”
“Yes!” You say, giving her a high five.
“Hey Y/n, did I ever tell you about the time Morgan showed up at my apartment drunk?” Spencer asks and you shake your head. “While wearing nothing but briefs.”
“I don’t think so.”
“Oh you wouldn’t!” Morgan threatens.
“Watch me!” Spencer leans over and whispers in your ear.
“OH MY GOD MORGAN! You look over at him. “Seriously?”
“What’s going on out here?” You hear a deep voice from behind you, turning around you see Hotch walking down the catwalk.
“How come I didn’t know about Morgan's dirty past?” You ask, folding your arm. Without even asking Hotch knew exactly what you were referring to.
“I’m unfriending you all,” Morgan points to everyone as Garcia leans into him, giggling.
“Everyone here knows a little bit too much about Morgan’s sex life,” Hotch points out.
“Hotch, not you too man,” Morgan groans.
Hotch leaned against Emily’s desk as he looks around at you all teasing and laughing with each other. Though Hotch could hear the laughter from his office, he couldn’t help but walk out and join the chaos. It was times like this, that Hotch was beyond thankful to have you all apart of his life. He could always count on you guys to add the sweet and spice to your guy's solemn life.
“What are you all still doing here? Your shift ended half hour ago,” Hotch looks down at his clock.
“Oh shoot!” JJ said, quickly grabbing her bag. “I gotta pick up Henry from my moms.” She bid her goodbyes and headed out.
“What about the rest of you? Don’t have any plans?”
“I have a date but that’s not until Wednesday,” Morgan says as you all just stare blankly at him. “At 7pm.” You smirk at him. “What?”
“Today is Wednesday you dumbass,” You said. “You just stood up your date by a half-hour.”
“Oh shit!” Morgan scrambled for his things, beelining for the elevator. “If I don’t get laid tonight, it’s all your guy's fault and drinks are on you guys for a whole month!” He yells behind him.
“Twenty bucks say his date going to cuss him off for being late, leaving him hanging,” You say.
“Forty bucks say that Morgan is going to get laid and that we’re all going to hear about over coffee tomorrow morning,” Hotch said dropping forty bucks on the table, walking away leaving you all in shock.

For Valentine’s Day
Summary: In which you throw a wrench in Spencer’s plans: you don’t like Valentine’s Day. “If it’s with you, I guess it’s not so bad.”
WC: 2.9k (whoops)
Tags/Warnings: Spencer Reid x GN!Reader, fluff, cussing, semi anti-valentines day, Spencer tears up but dont worry were there to fix that, established relationships (blegh), Garvez if you squint, post-For the Holidays
Tumblr media
Fuck cooking, Spencer thinks one day.
It's an irrational thought. The kind that strikes through his mind in a flash of irritation like a scrape of the knee as he is perusing the internet. Yes, he is using a computer willingly. He has to because he's desperate.
Cooking is stupid. Who really needs it, right?
He needs it. God, he needs it so bad.
His need to learn cooking wasn't as incessant until recently. Until you came along.
Spencer is a meticulous person and a romantic if you'd ever met one. Makes sense considering how he grew up, reading the classics and all that. He's read all the gooey literary shit old people write and while he never understood those meanings it all dawned on him one day. Quotes written like 'the stars in their eyes' and 'sunshine glowing off them like a halo', suddenly makes sense once he meets you. Or at least, after coming to know you, months into your newfound friendship.
It's because of this he plans accordingly the weeks leading up to Valentine's day! Because again he's meticulous and a romantic and a genius so he plans every step and makes a back up plan in case A, B, and C fall through.
Is he going overboard?
… Nah. No way. Not when it comes to you.
But fuck with a capital F, man.
It's your third date. Or what is supposed to be your third date if you would just stop being you for a second.
Then again, he loves you a lot and he wouldn't love you if you weren't, well, you.
Although—pardon his french—what the fuck.
Spencer knows he needs to learn to cook. You've tried plenty of times to teach him and he loves learning and he especially loves it when you are the teacher (wait, does he have a teacher/student fantasy? Maybe. That’s something he'll look into later. Preferably with you).
Unfortunately, he's terrible at it.
He's made progress and he knows it's true because you said so but the miniscule progress he's made is. Not. Enough. And it's all your fault! Because he gets so distracted by you during your lessons, like when you put your hands over his to show him proper slicing techniques—holy fuck, he wanted to combust right there—or just watching your deft hands at work, lips and brow scrunched in concentration in that adorable way. And you smell like cooking oil or whatever you're making and you're hot.
He's so into you it physically hurts. Ugh. How is he so lucky?
You're also the first person he's been this into since Maeve. And everyone knows how well that turned out.
So he tries to dial it down for Valentine’s Day. Morgan told him once he tends to throw himself into everything he does, including love. And when you two got together, he promised the universe he will not fuck this up. He ends up combining Morgan’s advice with Luke’s, trying to be casual like Luke says because apparently you're just as into him as he is of you.
The thought makes him grin uncontrollably. Luke says it makes him look like a clown but a lovesick clown. A lovefool, Luke hehs.
Spencer doesn’t get the joke, but it does nothing to deter him.
As Luke advised, Spencer does “not” make a dozen back up plans and does “not" plan weeks in advance. Because that wouldn't be casual, would it?
But now the day’s come and as Valentine’s Day turns to Valentine’s Night, Spencer wants to pull his hair, rub his frustratedly stinging eyes but he can't because he's in the middle of work, in the middle of the bullpen, in the middle of his desk and he refuses to be that guy. Not again.
Why does he feel like sobbing? Like a loser?
Because you don't like Valentine’s Day. No, you abhor it.
It happens in the middle of the work day. It's like he tried to open a door only for a bucket of ice water to be dumped on him and now he looks like a drowned rat. He definitely feels like one.
You're talking with Garcia about her Valentine’s Day plans as you multitask, switching between putting together packets and stacking them aside. Then taking them under the hole-puncher and stapling them together because the BAU isn't all kicking down doors and catching freaks.
It makes sense that you’re chatting with Garcia during your break. The two of you have become two peas in a pod after you came out of your shell. Now you're inseparable. Only you make Garcia leave her batcave as much as she does now.
Out of sight, he catches tidbits of your conversation when he hears distinctively: Fuck Valentine’s Day.
Okay, you didn't say that verbatim but you might as well have, grimacing as you three hole-punch a packet and his heart. Then a nail on his coffin only it’s with a stapler.
Thump. Chick.
Spencer winces; there goes your his Valentine’s Day plans.
It shouldn't sting as much as it does. You've been dating for over a month and Valentine’s Day is definitely not his favorite holiday either. It's not even top 3. And as you rant he can’t help but silently nod in agreement, all the facts straight: yes, it's an eyesore. Yes, it's a capitalistic holiday. Yes, people should do nice things for their significant others no matter the time and not because it's expected on a specific day. Yes, it doesn't compare to Halloween—
The thing is, you two aren't that “couple-y”, at least in a traditional sense. Not like Will and JJ who got a babysitter so they could go out or like Luke and Garcia as they plan to go to a special Valentine’s Day event she wants to check out (she vehemently denies anything going on between them but he doesn't need to be a genius to see the affection they have for one another. Just kiss already, damn).
So yeah, Spencer hoped to spend the romantic holiday with you. For once, he'd have Valentine’s Day plans, aside from exchanging cards with the team and his mother.
But apparently you hate Valentine’s Day! So there goes plan A, B, C, and D!
Spencer feels the tears spring at the corner of his eyes. He sniffs as subtly as he can, raising an open case file to his face. Of all the plans he hadn't thought through this was not one of them. IQ 187, his ass.
He should've known. Or at least ask your thoughts on Valentine’s Day. That was inconsiderate on his part. He blinks back tears, withdrawing into himself despite his hurt because he is a lovefool and only for you. He just wants to impress you, make you happy even if that means canceling your first Valentine’s Day together.
Now if you'll excuse him, he has to call off a few reservations and make some returns. Several actually.
Can you return a dozen donuts in the shape of hearts?
… Yeah, he better ask Emily for the rest of the day off.
"Hey Newb, have you seen Spencer? I haven't seen him since his break," You ask, resting your chin in your hand as you squint at another form. Your eyes are beginning to tire.
Spencer asked you several times over the course of the last week, checking to see if you were free today. You are, so you planned to hang with him after work, but he hasn't returned from his break and he wasn't answering your calls or texts. Not unusual but still odd for your boyfriend (you still can’t believe you get to say that).
Luke sighs, his smooth voice reaching over your shared divider, "You know at some point I'm just not going to respond. You guys can’t call me Newbie forever."
"Keep telling yourself that," You snort without looking up.
Another sigh and you smirk: you win.
"For your information," Luke grumbles, words punctuated with sass, "Doc went home."
You pause. "Home?" He didn't tell you.
"Yeah, probably to get ready for your date."
"Our date?" You frown and stand up, leaning over the divider to see if Luke’s fucking with you.
He isn't. Luke shrugs, humming wistfully as he rests his cheek in his hand, "You should've seen how excited he was, being it your first Valentine's Day and all. I told him to chill out because you'll love whatever it is no matter what but I'm sure he ignored that and planned something spectacular for you guys." Sitting back, he twirls around in his chair.
You grimace, recalling your earlier conversation with Garcia.
Shit.
"Meanwhile, I have to spend Galentine's Day with Garcia because all the ladies of the BAU are taken and I have nothing better to do—" Luke comes to a full 720, catching the tail end of your coat as you whip it on and make for the door. "—um, excuse you?"
"If Emily asks, I had an emergency!" You manage to call back, throwing open the glass door.
"Okay?"
"Thanks, Newb!"
As the elevator door dings shut with you inside, leg jumping because you have a sneaking suspicion you fucked up, Luke slouches in his chair and grumbles.
He's not a newb. Or a newbie.
You rush over to Spencer's, catching your breath as you stumble to his front door. There's shuffling from inside, the faint sound of clanking and crashing and your heart swells because this is the man you’ve fallen for, the first one you've ever felt this way for. Here he is, being all considerate and romantic. And here you are, fucking it up when your relationship’s barely even started.
God, you're an asshole, you berate yourself as you turn the doorknob and push open the door. You're an asshole you're an asshole you’re an asshole—
Then your eyes widen and your jaw goes slack.
Immediately, you slap a hand over your mouth and nose as your favorite scented candles hit you like someone shoved a bouquet in your face. The description isn't too far off considering there's a lovely bouquet of your favorite flowers still in its wrapping, haphazardly set next to a dozen donuts on the coffee table like no one's business. Its petals are strewn across the floor, a few in tiny piles like they were hastily swept to the side. Red and pink and dark green fill your vision.
Who gutted Cupid and tossed his organs around, holy fu-
"(Your name)?"
Tumblr media
Startled, you crane your head to find Spencer, beautiful hair askew and his tie hanging loosely around his neck. His sleeves are pushed up to his elbows as he clutches flowers to his chest. In his other hand, he grips the colored strings of several shiny red and pink balloons in the shape of hearts and—fuck—your heart might actually float up from your chest and into your eyes.
This is your man. Your partner. Your boyfriend.
Your boyfriend panics, fumbling for a second before stuffing the balloons and trimmed flowers back into the room behind him and slamming the door shut. He turns back to you, eyes wide.
"What-what are you doing here?" Spencer stammers, wringing his hands together.
You blink at him, dumbly holding up your phone. "You-uh-you left early and didn't return my calls."
"I'm sorry. I think I left my phone at work," Probably because he left in such a rush, Spencer groans, looking anywhere but you. The petals scattered over his floor are quite pretty in this light. "And I was a bit busy."
"I'm sure you were," You gawk openly at the strings of fairy lights hung around his living room. It's a clash of aesthetics. Spencer always rocked dark academia, but despite how ugly the combination of red and pink decorations with his nature green walls and dark wood is, it leaves his apartment a little brighter, a little cozier, and you love it.
You love everything about this.
But as you take in the ugly beauty of it all, Spencer fidgets at the doorway, mistaking your awe as shock and disgust. Wiping sweaty palms on his trousers, his eyes dart around, trying to focus on something, but every place he lays his eyes on makes him cringe. He catches all the things he couldn't clean up or put away in time. No doubt you do too. All the leftover flower petals, the donuts he can’t return, candles that haven’t blown out because he has the lungs of an 8-year old asthmatic.
Spencer can't imagine how appalled you are.
And the longer your silence stretches on, the more nervous he gets so he blurts out, "I'm so sorry, (Your Name)!"
Your brow shoots up as he begins to ramble.
"You must hate this. I'll put everything away."
"You really don't have to—" You stop him, and your heart nearly crumbles as Spencer's does when he finally meets your worried gaze.
His eyes gleam with unshed tears. He swallows, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have—"
"Doc—"
"At least not without asking you—"
"Doctor—"
"I understand if you want to break up—" His voice cracks, as if the idea itself will destroy him (it definitely will).
"Spencer—" His voice, wobbly and dripping with unnecessary guilt, draws you to him.
"But I want you to know that I—"
With an exasperated sigh, you grab his hand as yours finds the nape of his neck, pulling him into a soft kiss.
For a second, Spencer doesn't respond because who kisses the person they're about to break up with? Strange, really. But then he kisses you back. His hands remain frozen, unsure of where he stands, but he tilts his head to deepen the kiss. He figures this is a new social cue he has yet to learn. And if this is the last time you kiss him, he'll treasure every second of it, take whatever you'll give him because again he's a lovefool for you.
And when you pull back, he's too dazed he nearly misses the look you give him. Suddenly, he can’t breathe.
You look at him like he hung the stars instead of cheap fairy lights around his apartment.
Spencer’s confused. "I-I... Wha—"
"I'm not breaking up with you," You chuckle, and you nearly burst out laughing as genuine puzzlement takes over his face. You tug him behind you, plopping yourselves on his couch. You smile, appreciating the way he organized the cushions and throw-pillows; there's now space for two people to lay down.
You take a breath. "You wanna know why I don't like Valentine’s Day?"
Spencer slouches, though his body is angled towards you so you suppose that's good. He sighs, "Because it's a capitalistic holiday that reinforces the idea of doing the bare minimum…"
He begins listing your reasons, and your eyes soften. Of course he listened and remembered even if you mentioned it offhandedly.
You nod once he finishes. "Yes but before that—and I can't believe I'm telling you this—back when I was a little kid, I didn’t get any Valentines."
Spencer's brow furrows at the newfound information. You continue, "I'd get some from my friends and stuff but that's not what Valentine's Day is about. At least not when you're a kid. When you’re a dumb kid, it’s about couples and romantic shit, and I didn't really have any of that growing up." You purse your lips and glance away, face flushed with embarrassment. It's really not that big a deal, but putting it into words makes the idea seem more intimate and personal.
It takes a moment for your words to sink in as Spencer can't believe his ears. How could you not have been showered with love and affection and presents on Valentines Day? It's like water doesn't make things wet or fire doesn't produce heat; it just doesn't make sense. Because you deserve that much and more.
"So every Valentine's Day, I lowered my expectations and eventually I stopped caring. I'd tell myself those things and I started to believe them," You bite your lip, eyes crinkling as you give Spencer a sheepish smile. "But now I have you."
At that, Spencer returns your smile, letting you take his hand. Any tears he had seem to evaporate instantly.
“So, I'm sorry that I hurt you. I stand by what I said before, Valentine’s Day sucks. But if it’s with you,” Blushing deeply, you play with Spencer's hand, large and veins defined compared to yours, shrugging, “I guess it’s not so bad.”
Spencer’s smile broadens, and he intertwines your fingers together. "So what you’re saying is, you don’t hate this?” He looks around his living room.
You shake your head, unable to stop the grin crossing your lips. “No. In fact, very much the opposite. Honestly, thank you for this, it’s beautiful. I have no words.” You breathe it all in; the candles, the flowers, the— Your nose wrinkles and you snort, “Did you burn something?”
Bashfully looking down, he scratches his chin. “I-uh-tried to make your favorite dishes. Though, I was hoping the candles and flowers would mask it.”
You giggle and pull him into you, snuggling into his side. “That’s okay. I’d much rather have you anyway.”
With Spencer a blushing, stuttering mess in your arms, head resting on your chest, you press a kiss to his hair and conclude; yeah, you don’t like Valentine’s Day.
But you sure as hell love Spencer more.

St. Louisans continue to quench their football thirst, after being parched for more than four years. The BattleHawks were a big hit for those watching at home as well as fans attending their game Sunday afternoon. The first pro football game in St. Louis since December 2015, when the NFL’s Rams played their last home game before jilting the city, drew nearly 30,000 fans. That was the biggest crowd thus far in the current version of the XFL, which is back in business after a failed try in 2001.Television viewership followed suit. According to Nielsen, which tabulates viewership, 8% of homes in the market with a TV watched ESPN’s telecast of the game, in which the BattleHawks pounded New York 29-9. That translates into about 88,000 area residences tuning in to the telecast. In contrast the Houston-Tampa Bay contest, on ABC, drew a 3.5 rating in Houston and a 3.3 figure in Tampa-St. Petersburg. Ratings weren’t immediately available for the weekend’s two XFL games shown on Fox outlets. This lofty viewership in St. Louis came despite the fact that ESPN customers missed not only the much-hyped introduction to the telecast, when fans were at a frenzy for the team’s home debut, but also the BattleHawks’ first drive. And first home touchdown. That’s because ESPN was showing the conclusion of a college basketball game that ran long, and moved the B-Hawks’ start to ESPNews and had it on its app — both entities that many viewers do not have. (More on this in the “Media Views” column in Friday’s Post-Dispatch.)Overall, the BattleHawks’ three games to date have averaged a 6.9 rating.By comparison, the Cardinals averaged a 6.6 rating last season for their games shown on Fox Sports Midwest, and the Blues were at a 3.7. But for perspective, there are many more Cards and Blues games televised, making many individual telecasts less appealing that a novel football game. Plus, many of the local baseball and hockey teams’ contests are played at less advantageous times than the late weekend afternoon slots in which the BattleHawks have been.

Background-
Parents: Father’s name is Antonio Jose Hernandez. He disappeared when Carlos was very young. They aren’t sure what happened to him and it’s always haunted their mother. His mother is Carmen Guape Aguilar de Hernandez. She has been a loving and supportive mother up until she was hit by a drunk driver a year ago. Siblings: Maria Hernandez, who is a trans woman. They’re very close and support each other. They are five years apart. Father’s Family: He’s not super close to this side of his family from a lack of seeing them, though he does hang out with cousins from this side of the family when he can. Mother’s Family: He has spent a lot of time with this side of the family. He knows all of his aunts, uncles, and cousins. His Abuela is the matriarch of the family. Abuelo died a long time ago. Growing Up: He always had someone to play with and a place to go when his mother was working. He and his cousins used to come up with different games and watch television all of the time. He came out to his family when he was fourteen and they were accepting for the most part. Some of them took some time to come around. A couple of his aunts and uncles still make comments or ignore it completely.
Relationships-
Exes: Daniel “Danny” Hogerton Reason for breaking up: Danny was abusive to Carlos which lead to Carlos breaking up with him, and Danny did not take that well. He now stalks Carlos and harasses him trying to guilt Carlos into taking him back. Relationship Status: Single What do other’s think of them?: A lot of people see Carlos as kind and gullible, which leads to a lot of people being overprotective of him. His friends are always warning him to not trust others so much. Friends: Javier Garcia, Saiko Nakagawa, Aiko Nakagawa, and Trent Roberts
Personality-
Traits: Carlos is kind because he tries his hardest to emulate his mother who taught him that it’s worth it to be kind. She also tried to teach him that it was important to love one’s self but all of that was destroyed in his relationship with Danny. Carlos has a hard time holding himself as important. He gets anxious and worried because of his insecurities. He is quiet and observant but loves to have a fun time. He’s always open to making new friends but doesn’t mind keeping to himself. When it comes to his friends he’s very loyal and is willing to risk his life for them. Biggest Regret: Dating Danny. Fears: Danny, losing his family or friends, relationships, clowns. Secret Wish: He wishes to fall in love again but he’s afraid to trust himself. He’s afraid he can’t tell who is abusive and who is not. Ignorant of: Healthy relationships, the world of Guardians and Nightmares, and self care. Influenced by: His mother; she taught him to be kind to others. Maria is someone he aspires to be, as she’s strong and confident. His friends get him into new music, games, and movies.
Physical Traits-
Face: A small face with angular features and a small square chin. He has brown eyes and a small nose. His eyes are small with short lashes and a set of slim dark brows above them. His lips aren’t thin but they aren’t very big either. Hair: Carlos has shorter dark hair that he styles with gel occasionally. It grows pretty fast. He doesn’t get to experiment with it often because that costs money, but he wants to. Body: Carlos is skinny but he works out sometimes to try to stay fit. He has long limbs and fingers. His elbows and knees are a bit knobby. He’s that guy who eats a lot and burns it off quickly. He wishes he was better at building muscle, only so that he could feel more confident that he would be able to fight Danny off. He doesn’t really have the money or time to go to a gym or buy the healthiest foods so he makes do with what he can. His height is about 5’7”.
Miscellaneous-
Hobbies: He enjoys watching movies and television, working out, cooking, jogging, and dancing. He doesn’t go out a whole bunch anymore thanks to Danny though. Type of food they enjoy: Anything spicy. He enjoys the homemade authentic Mexican food his family makes. He also loves pizza and wings. Not big on sweets. Favorite Things: He has a favorite pair of sneakers he’s had for three years but they look almost brand new. His favorite hang out spot is an old arcade he and his friends used to go to in high school, he still sees his old high school buddies occasionally.

GARVEZ STORIES
COULROPHOBIA
After having crushed the automatic closing button of all the doors, Luke reaches her and takes by the hand, enjoying the simple and banal gesture that makes clear they are together. -I'm so happy that no new case arrived today, so we can enjoy a little 'peace together and a quiet evening..- Penelope says, stroking his fingers with her own, with a candid smile on her face.
He nods, looking though on the opposite side. - Yes, yeah.- a slight hesitation that immediately appears suspicious.
Continuing to walk she scrutinizes him more carefully, trying to pick up some other clue that could explain his behavior. -You are a bit strange, tonight. Did something happened that you did not tell me?- he hastens to deny, shaking his head, but at the same time he appears sincere and liar.
-No, it's everything ok.- he opens the door, like a real gentleman, attracting the attention of some girls in a queue behind them. - Why do not you go get popcorn and drinks?- he gently pushes her with one hand, open palm, on her back, in the direction of a particularly inviting stand.
Penelope lets herself too easily convinced. - Ok!- she answers, feeling an immediate shiver as soon as the physical contact breaks between them. From his own line to buy the tickets of the movie he has chosen, without her knowledge, Luke watches his girlfriend and thinks, like every day from the first time, how lucky he is to share every single moment with her, how much she is beautiful and sexy with any rag on her (or without) , how sweet, naive, how easily she manages to move him when she is worried about him. Lost among these exaggeratedly romantic thoughts he doesn't notice almost when arrives his turn to pay, nor that she appeared beside him and is looking at him, still smiling.
-You got everything?- he asks, hiding the tickets behind his back, so she can't see which movie they refer to. Penelope doesn't seem to have noticed it.
-Yes, and you?- she shows the huge bowl of popcorn that barely manages to hold with one hand and two glasses with a built-in straw. It wasn't very difficult to convince Luke to make this compromise, for an evening eating and drinking things totally unhealthy, but definitely stimulating in more senses and necessary for the occasion, like a fir tree at Christmas.
-Here are the tickets.- he shows them with such a quick gesture that the blonde has no way of reading the title of the film, even if she notices that it is a particularly short name.
-I feel like a teenager.- she almost starts jumping. -It was so long since I went to the cinema.- in fact, perhaps the last time was almost ten years ago, when Seaver had replaced JJ, and, together with her, Spencer and Morgan as knights, they had gone to see a splatter and banal horror film .
-I'm happy to make you happy, honey.- he smiles sweetly, then puts his free hand on her waist, to help her climb the stairs. The theatre room in which they are directed is obviously the largest and the most difficult to reach.
-I love you, Luke.- she says, just before entering. The man holds the door open with his leg.
He hesitates, staying a moment back. -I hope you will not change your mind at the end of the movie.- he whispers, more than anything to himself, partly regretting the idea he had as soon as someone told him about the release of a classic horror genre, made with a completely new cast, but respecting the original and even the book from which it is taken.
-What did you say? I didn't hear you.- Penelope turns to look at him and almost stumbles in a step, miraculously managing not to pour the contents of the glass.
-Nothing.- a smile too much exaggerated. -Why don't we sit here?- he indicates with the elbow a row about halfway, not too close to the screen, but not too far. He lets her pass first, enjoying the view of her hips and her swaying backside, to avoid stepping on unknown handbags and feet, with a perverse and forbidden taste, even if he can freely caress it with his own hands and knows perfectly how she looks naked... Ok, enough, at least until the lights stay on.
-One of my favorite moments of going to the cinema are the trailers of the films that are about to release. I love how they are made. Did I ever tell you that once I thought I wanted to work in that field? Video music clips, however, more than film trailers...- but he is not listening to her, and she notices it only after a while.
-Uh, did you know that instead I like trailers because waiting for the beginning of the film you have some time to kiss your partner?- he uses a tone so peaceful and innocent that she doesn't even protest and takes inspired by his suggestion. Without any modesty they exchange passionate but fairly discreet kisses, and they aren't even the only couple intent on this kind of activity. The fact of having to hold back from expressing excessive joy is an even stronger stimulant. This is why when the atmosphere changes and appear the first opening credits, they both snort, separating and pretending indifference. Penelope doesn't need many shots to find out which film her boyfriend has decided to see with her.
-What?- she feels some shiver of terror making its way into her chest. -But it's...- she can't even conceive of it. She would like to get up and leave the hall, but she should pass in front of a lot of people, and her legs, her whole body doesn't do what she tell to it to. -Luke!- she bites her lips to avoid shouting.
-Shhh.- he silences her. -You'll get us kicked out of here.- an evil grin on his face.
-But... you brought me to see IT!- she whispers, but her anger is evident even in such a low tone of voice. -You know that the clowns terrify me...- he tilts his head towards her.
- You got cold feet?- he dares her, because it is the only option he has.
-What did you say?- and it's the best choice. -I'll show you, who will do it, Newbie.-it's the last thing she tells him. She no longer comments, not verbally at least, but she jumps and lets out some "oooh" of surprise, moving in sync with almost every other spectator in the room. The movie is about to end, when one of the children, the one terrified by Modigliani's painting, sees his fear becoming real and Luke, without being able to avoid it, makes a jump on the armchair, so high as to touch the ceiling. At the exit, while having his hand on her hip, Penelope teases him. -So, what do you have to say?- he drags his feet and mumbles something incomprehensible.
-Sorry. I'm sorry I could never even think that you're not super brave. I am also willing to walk kneeling on peas. You forgive me?- puppy eyes.
-I forgive you, but you must do something for me.-
The next day, Luke's pic wearing a clown costume, with Krusty's green hair, red nose and long shoes, is sent to every BAU member.
