Hey, I saw ur tags on the shakespeare post, and let me tell you. watching filmed recordings of the plays while reading along with them has done WONDERS to help me. i also sometimes would cheat if i could get my hands on a No Fear Shalespeare. As a Shakespeare Enjoyer who sometimes struggles with the language myself, there is no shame in using resources to help.ypu understand the material better! im so glad you decided to take the plunge and found yourself enjoying it!!

Hii thank you!! And yeah, I'm still at the start of this journey bc I'm embarking on it with my mom who actually studied Shakespeare in college so we can only watch the plays when we're both free for it, but I'm really enjoying it so far! The last time I'd tried to watch a play had been years ago and it was so clear my level of English was not high enough for it that I gave up on that for ages but recently I figured I should try again and was surprised at how much easier it was (made easier by the video having CC which is basically reading along). I guess being fluent in English in general made me feel like it shouldn't be that hard and something was amiss with me but it IS a different English so you're right, no shame in using resources to help. It'd seem perfectly natural to me if someone fluent in Portuguese as a second language still struggled with Gil Vicente for example, too.

I started with the production of Much Ado About Nothing with Danielle Brooks bc I happened to come across the link and the next ones I'm thinking of watching are the one with David Tennant and Catherine Tate, and the Romeo and Juliet with Josh O'Connor (for....reasons). After that there's some recs I've been given that I wanna check out but I know there's such a wide world out there so if anyone has suggestions they are more than welcome hehe

high fantasy has never really clicked with me which is funny because i really love lord of the rings which is kind of the basis for a significant proportion of the genre but as a whole i just find it so uninteresting. . . i think i just really strongly associate it with the wealth of very mediocre fantasy for middle aged women who make liking books more than people their entire personality. and i KNOW there is good fantasy out there. but i have not looked for it because i do not care

Sorry i had a point here but i forgot. this post was gonna be about how i've never actually played an elder scrolls game. everyone talks about how good they are / how much they like them and i respect that but i do not find myself excited by the series is all

idk who needs to hear this but here's my button-making tip of the day

mylars: STINKY. bastards. evil. duplicitous. they build up static and never let it go, they slide all over the place, you think you only have one but it's still secretly 2 stuck together, they get misaligned no matter how carefully you place them and then crimp wrong and then your button is fucked up. they were my #1 cause of button failure in the year-ish i've been using a button press. garbageboy stinkman belongs in the toilet.

the answer: SINGLE SIDED LAMINATE, BABEY!!! you can hand-lay it over a printed sheet. it comes in clear, it comes in many kinds of sparkle and dazzle and so on. i use my die cutter to achieve these lovely circles but obviously, you could use scissors too. it's waterproof, it's attractive, it crimps the way it's supposed to without having to deal with the slidey sandwich static problems, i've had far fewer button failures with this method. i highly recommend this in combination with Epson's "presentation paper," which is really lightweight and durable.
