For those who claim to have visited most of the places in India, this is a testament to the fact that there are still some spectacular views to be seen. It's something I have seen and experienced many times before in films and so on. But giving these places after sunset can be a different experience. These places offer gorgeous and romantic views.
Kasturba horse Kasturba Horse is a small museum located in the Kingsway Campus of Delhi. Gandhiji lived here with his wife Kasturba and his son Devdas in the 1930s and '40s. Today, the two-story building is a museum. Charkha, vilakku and Bhagavad Gita can be seen here. The museum is housed in the Gandhi Ashram of the Harijan Sevak Sangh at the Kingsway Campus in New Delhi. There is a lot of research information and audio visual material available here. The museum is located at Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, opposite Rajghat in Vikram Nagar, Delhi. Golden Temple, Amritsar The Golden Temple Amritsar is one of the most popular pilgrimage and tourist destinations in India. Even if you are in Amritsar at night, be sure to visit this gurudwara. Built of pink colored stones, this palace is reminiscent of a giant beehive at night. Taj Mahal, a gr The day view of the Taj Mahal will remain in the minds of many. Even more so in the pictures are the photos taken during the day. But make an effort to visit the Taj Mahal on night trips. Definitely visit at night if you want to get a romantic look. Looking at the Taj Mahal at night, you should not be surprised to find the Taj Mahal one of the 7 Wonders of the World. Neer Mahal, Tripura After sunset, the Neer Mahal in Tripura has a special charm. It was built in 1921. What is special is that the pride of the building has not yet faded. Amba Vilas Palace, Mysore There are very few people who do not see the Mysore Palace. But to see at night, if you want to enjoy the real beauty. The palace is adorned with over one lakh lights at night. Buddha Statue, Hussain Sagar, Hyderabad A tall Buddha statue in the middle of Hussain Sagar Lake in Hyderabad. It is the tallest stone statue in the world. This too can give the night another look. Reminiscent of a large diamond. The Lumbini Park around the statue and the local musical foundation add to the visual experience Rajghat Rajghat is the tomb of Mahatma Gandhi. But along with these elaborate heritage architectures, lakes also attracts some tourists attention. Such beautiful are the lakes that even Udaipur, a famous destination in Rajasthan, is called ‘City of Lakes’ and ‘Venice of the East.’ The country’s largest salt lake – Sambhar Salt Lake is situated in the located quite close to Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan. Also, these lakes of Rajasthan mark many mythological events too. Legends has it that the Pushkar Lake of Rajasthan appeared when Brahma dropped a lotus flower. The place is also famous for world’s few Brahma temples. Bundi, Udaipur, Pushkar, and Ajmer are some of the famous places of Rajasthan where lakes still dominate the landscape. Even the ruling kings have a played a crucial role in the development of Rajasthan’s lake network.
Ana Sagar Lake Ajmer :-This manmade lake was built by Anaji Chauhan (grandfather of Prithviraj Chauhan) during 1135-1150 AD. On its bank is a pleasant park, the Daulat Bagh, containing a series of marble pavilions erected in 1637 by Shah Jahan. One can witness the beautiful sunset while boating on Ana Sagar lake. Sprawling across 13 km, the pond captures the picturesque beauty of Ajmer. but acts as a source of livelihood for all the local people of this city. Right in the middle of the lake is an island which can be reached by a motor boat. There are several attractions around the Ana Sagar lake which add to its charm.
Tumblr media
Pushkar Lake :- Pushkar Lake is considered as the holiest lake in India. This water reservoir is enclosed by 52 ghats (personal ghats for 52 Maharajas of India) and 500 temples. According to a Hindu mythology, this lake was created by the fallen petals of Lord Brahma’s lotus when he was destroying the demon Vajra Nabha. Lotus petals were struck at a particular place and water spurted from there giving it the shape of a pious. The charm of Pushkar Lake is also mentioned in some old books like Abhigyan Sakuntalam, Mahabharat and Ramayana. A dip in this holy water can purify one from all the sins, troubles and ailments. Sacred to the Hindus as well as the Sikhs, this lake has its mention in history since the 14th century.
Tumblr media
Pichola Lake Udaipur :-Coming to Udaipur, and missing a boat ride on this lake is like committing a crime. One of the oldest and the biggest lakes in Udaipur, Pichola lake is world famous for its picturesque beauty and scenic surrounding. Rudyard Kipling mentioned this lake in his Letters of Marque (1899), “If the Venetian, owned the Pichola Lake, he might say with justice, see it and die'”. One will fall in love with this lake the moment one sees it. There are many islands within this lake. The famous tourist destination of Udaipur, Jag Mandir is also a part of this lake. The pristine blue waters of the lake leave a soothing impact on the spectator. At the time of sun-set, a boat ride on this lake is sufficient to enthrall anyone.
Tumblr media
Fateh Sagar Lake Udaipur :-Considered as the pride of Udaipur, this artificial lake was constructed under the reign of Maharana in 1960. Boating on the blue water of the lake, which is overlooked by mountains from three sides, is an experience to remember. There is a garden amidst the lake i.e. Nehru Park, which is a lovely open space with a boat-shaped restaurant. Sprawling over 2.4 kms, Fateh Sagar lake is one of the places where travellers can enjoy the scenic beauty of Udaipur. The lake lies on the northwest of the main Udaipur city.
Tumblr media
Gadsisar Lake Jaisalmer :- Gadsisar Lake was a water conversation tank built in 1400 AD, and was constructed under the reign of Maharwal Gadsi Singh. If a traveller wants to enjoy bird watching on their tour to Jaisalmer, then Gadsisar lake is the right place to be. travel #Kota_Barrage with jcr cab
Tumblr media
Kota Barrage is the fourth construction in the #Chambal Valley Project over River Chambal. It was built to store the waters stored by the three previous dams of the project Gandhi Sagar Dam, #Jawahar _Sagar_Dam and #Rana_Pratap_Sagar_Dam, and then channelize it to the dry areas of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh for irrigation purposes via canals. At present, it helps in agriculture in around 20,000 acres of land. The 19 gate long barrage forms a bridge over #River Chambal at Kota, on which people gather to enjoy the fascinating view of frothy white water being thrusting out in full force.
During the monsoon, when the lock gates are opened, it creates a magnificent view with its raging and gushing water. The water roars like the ocean and the sound of it resonate in the entire area. The rumble can be heard from a distance, and the pulse of it can be felt on the bridge as well. The bridge is quite crowded all around the year by onlookers, picnickers and those who halt by to have a look on their way to somewhere else.
History of Kota Barrage
The Kota Barrage has its roots in scarcity and necessity of water distribution. It was in the 1950s and water was being harnessed at the Gandhi Sagar Dam, Jawahar Sagar Dam and Rana Pratap Sagar Dam - the three dams of Chambal River of Rajasthan, for hydroelectricity. However, the authorities realised that this water was not getting enough channelization and that agriculture in parts of both Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh was suffering because of water scarcity. That is when a barrage was set up in Kota to hold huge amounts of water and further regulating and diverting them to the areas in need of water via canals.
Current Situation of Kota Barrage
After the completion of construction in 1960, the Kota Barrage started discharging water to both the states. According to an agreement, 50% water of Kota Barrage goes to Madhya Pradesh. At present, almost 20,000 acres of land are being benefitted by water irrigated by Kota Barrage, of which 11,300 acres are in Madhya Pradesh.
Things To Do at Kota Barrage
Kota Barrage was certainly not constructed keeping tourism in mind. However, its majestic appeal has turned it into one over the years. The gushing flow of foaming white water is an absolute treat for the eyes from atop the bridge. Visitors flock here to enjoy this majestic scene, especially in monsoon when the gates are all open. The stream of water bursts out in cascades roaring downstream to fill the canals and go ahead to water the agricultural fields of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
The area is characterised by a cool, relaxing breeze because of the proximity of the water. It is one of those places where you can keep quiet and let the place make the noise. Kota Barrage is so loud by itself, thanks to the large mass of water spurting out. The sound reverberates throughout the barrage, causing the bridge to vibrate. Kota Barrage is a favourite evening time gathering. You will find people in couples or groups standing along the railings enjoying the view and spending quality time with their family and loved ones.
Structure of Kota Barrage
Kota Barrage stretches for a catchment area of 27,332 sq. Km in total. The primary support of the barrage is the Jawahar Sagar dam which holds 99 million cubic metres. The concrete spillway leads to a 188 cubic metres discharge capacity canal on the right and a 42 cubic metres one on the left. Like a typical barrage, it obviously serves as a bridge over River Chambal between the two sides. The barrage operates through 19 gates to control the flow of water and regulate it accordingly.
