The Logitech Astro A50 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Headset maintains the legacy that Astro has built as being a great and durable headset. It's still priced as an extremely premier headset at $299.99, which is a hard pill to swallow when both seeing and wearing the headset feels to similar to one of these worn in the past. The cloth earcups will help keep the ears warm, but the longevity of comfort is an issue.

So work switched to this terrible new phone system and when I work from home, I have to use a headset.
Now I am... particular about things. I don't like the "in the ear" headphones because they go in me ears. My ears are very sensitive. I'm also not big on the "over the head" headphones because they're bulky. Also they bother me because they remind me of the contact center and the fact that I would rather have another kidney stone than work contact center should speak volumes.
So any suggestions? Something like this would be perfect. And it would need a mic and it needs a jack because they won't let us use Bluetooth. Bastards

Gaming Headset vs Normal Headset. Know the Difference!!
Tumblr media
When it comes to choosing between a gaming headset and a regular headset, the decision largely depends on what you'll be using it for. Both types of headsets serve their purpose, but they have distinct features tailored to different needs. Here’s an in-depth look at the differences between gaming headsets and normal headsets.
Purpose and Design
Gaming Headsets:
Gaming headsets are specifically designed for gamers. They come equipped with features that enhance the gaming experience, such as surround sound, which helps in identifying the direction of in-game sounds. This can be crucial in competitive gaming, where knowing the direction of footsteps or gunfire can make a significant difference.
These headsets also often have built-in microphones, which are essential for in-game communication with teammates. The design of gaming headsets is usually bulkier and more robust to accommodate extended wear during long gaming sessions. They also tend to have aesthetic elements that appeal to gamers, such as LED lights and a futuristic look.
Normal Headsets:
On the other hand, normal headsets, also known as general-purpose or consumer headsets, are designed for everyday use. They are versatile and can be used for listening to music, watching movies, making phone calls, and more. These headsets prioritize sound quality and comfort but may lack the specialized features that gaming headsets offer.
Normal headsets often have a simpler design and are lighter, making them more comfortable for casual use throughout the day. They may not come with a built-in microphone or, if they do, the microphone quality might not be as high as that of gaming headsets.
Sound Quality
Gaming Headsets:
The sound quality in gaming headsets is tailored to enhance the gaming experience. They often emphasize bass and have virtual surround sound to create an immersive environment. This type of sound quality helps gamers detect subtle audio cues in games, such as approaching footsteps or distant explosions.
Normal Headsets:
Normal headsets generally offer a more balanced sound profile, which is suitable for a variety of audio types, including music, movies, and podcasts. They focus on delivering high-quality sound with clear highs, mids, and lows. Audiophiles often prefer normal headsets because they can provide a more accurate and enjoyable listening experience for music.
Microphone Quality
Gaming Headsets:
The microphones in gaming headsets are built for clear communication during gameplay. They often come with noise-canceling features to filter out background noise, ensuring that your voice is heard clearly by your teammates. The position of the microphone can be adjusted for optimal sound capture.
Normal Headsets:
While some normal headsets come with built-in microphones, they are typically not as advanced as those found in gaming headsets. They might lack noise-canceling features and could be less effective at isolating your voice from background noise. This makes them less ideal for environments where clear communication is crucial, such as during intense gaming sessions.
Comfort and Durability
Gaming Headsets:
Comfort is a significant consideration for gaming headsets because gamers often wear them for extended periods. They are usually designed with padded ear cups and adjustable headbands to ensure a comfortable fit. The materials used are often more durable to withstand the rigors of long gaming sessions.
Normal Headsets:
Normal headsets are also designed for comfort but tend to be lighter and less bulky than gaming headsets. They are suitable for casual use and can be worn for extended periods, but they might not offer the same level of padding or adjustability. Durability can vary, but high-end models can be just as robust as gaming headsets.
Price
Gaming Headsets:
Gaming headsets can range from affordable to quite expensive, depending on the features and brand. The added features like surround sound, LED lights, and high-quality microphones can drive up the price.
Normal Headsets:
Normal headsets also come in a wide price range, but you can often find high-quality options at a lower price compared to gaming headsets. Since they don't include gaming-specific features, you might get better sound quality for music at the same price point.
Conclusion
Choosing between a gaming headset and a normal headset depends on your primary use. If you're a gamer, a gaming headset with features like surround sound and a high-quality microphone will enhance your gaming experience. If you're looking for a headset for everyday use, a normal headset with a balanced sound profile and comfortable design might be the better choice. Consider your needs, budget, and how you'll be using the headset to make the best decision.
