hornsent thoughts partially transcribed from my twitter. sensations and feelings and things. under a read more bc its long and unorganized

the hornsent as a culture seems very sensuous -- that is, focused on feeling & senses -- and i think thats one of the biggest things sticking out to me consistently

the fabrics, burning incense everywhere, the focus on their cultural dances, their views on anger and lamentation, their poetry, costuming, bitter stews. all very vivid and intense sensations. even the inquisition's torture methods seem to be fixated on causing as much of agony as possible rather than getting answers out of anyone.

choler gathers in pools in belurat because theres been so much loss within the hornsent as a people that they no longer have access to the practices they used to feel, witness, and process anger. the grandam begs the divine beast to cleanse "all it wilt" because no one else is left to absorb all of the rage and sadness that comes with being subjugated to the degree they were.

(above mentioned focuses on intense sensation) are some of the reasons i believe

1: the curseblades weren't treated as equals until they were needed to fight against messmer's invasion

2: the jarmakers were a sect that split off from the main towerfolk

both of these groups seem to wish to limit or get rid of feeling entirely in pursuit of some higher power or divine task, while the cultural majority/those currently in power do the complete opposite. which would be seen as weird(the jarmakers) if not straight up blasphemous(the curseblades) by most at that point.

oc-lore wise its close to salem, which should have been a major town in game which is a major town in the story im concocting for whisper, making it easier for people in the area to get supplies without having to travel to diamond city.

railroad becomes hostile if you take x6 anywhere even near the old north church

Sometimes I think Fallout 4 should’ve limited where you take companions more. Like it’s fine you can take Preston Garvey to Railroad HQ, he’s not a snitch. Hancock could keep it quiet, probably. Nick’s discrete. But Piper? You mean to tell me Piper’s not gonna write about it or try to play 20 questions with Tinker Tom? I’m supposed to believe that nothing bad would come of bringing Danse or X6-88 to Railroad HQ? Or that the Brotherhood wouldn’t open fire the second you stroll into the airport with Strong in tow and that Maxson wouldn’t burst a few capillaries when he sees a super mutant on his battle-blimp? The Sole Survivor just waltzes into Diamond City with Hancock and the guard’s tell them ghouls aren’t allowed, and they don’t even have the decency to try to arrest you or make you pay a fine like a Skyrim guard would.

Let me suffer the consequences of my actions, Todd, even if it is inconvenient!
