I love every iteration where we can see these littles precious things. And tbh I love even more the "Gambit is cat dad, Rogue is cat mom" comics. Since it’s so difficult for her to imagine having children….or well…having literally everything ‘in’ her body, (can’t imagine the pure fear if she loose control of her powers while being pregnant and I think, because of that we will likely never see Rogue being a mom) Im so happy when it’s just these two and their cats. I wish they adopt more of them bc Remy had these cuties before Rogue, and it’s seems fair to me that they go to a petshop in order to adopt another. One that Rogue can name :3

I think it's really funny how I hated all my favorite characters before they became my favorite mainly because of how awful they were in the adaptations I first saw them in.

Quicksilver? First saw him when I was 7 in AoU and thought he was stupid for dying from bullets when he literally had super speed. I later found out all MCU movies are shit and grew to love him when I started reading the comics.

Gambit? Had no idea who he was when I watched Wolverine Origins. Hated the movie and him but that changed when I watch X-Men tas.

Morph? The same time I started to watch tas I hated that Morph was just a random character they added only to kill off. It really annoyed me every time they'd show up until I read Exiles (2001) and actually got to know the character. I'm really glad we got to see more of them in '97.

Its funny how an opinion on a character can change when their actually used as a character for the story instead of some plot device/useless cameo.

Relationship Profile: Rogue and Magneto

A brief history: Rogue joined the X-Men when she was 18, and Magneto became headmaster at Xavier’s not too long after. Despite them residing the same place and fighting alongside each other, they did not have a huge amount of interaction while they were both in the X-Men during this time. It was not until both of them were in the Savage Land that they became friends and the attraction between them first occurred.  Magneto’s more militaristic and lethal mindset created a rift between them and they went their separate ways.  Even when they were enemies, they remained on fairly good terms, treating each other with respect.  When Magneto rejoined the X-Men on Utopia, he and Rogue worked alongside one another, and he made it clear that he was still interested in a relationship with her. They had a brief relationship, but once again their paths diverged.  Their split was amicable, although they have not had much interaction since Rogue’s marriage to Gambit.

Why Rogue likes Magneto: He is a passionate man with a deep concern for his people, which she seems to admire. Erik is intelligent, confident, and worldly, and while he is often serious, he has a wicked wit that she enjoys. He has never shown fear of her or her powers, which is extraordinarily rare for her, and it makes her feel safe and seen.

Why Magneto likes Rogue: Erik appreciates Rogue’s dedication, empathy, strength, kindness, and resilience in the face of a difficult upbringing and uncontrollable powers. He feels a kinship with her and is clearly very attracted to her. He has hinted multiple times he cares for her more than any other living woman he has been with, the only person other than Magda that he has considered sharing a life with.

Why it works: They are both passionate in their lives and in their relationship together. They understand each other well, have mutual respect for one another (a rare thing from Magneto), and are able to be open and honest with one another. In multiple other realities, most notably Age of Apocalypse, they were able to have a happy marriage and even a child.

Where there are issues: There are two main reasons why their relationship tends to fall apart, aside from her relationship with Gambit. The first is that Magneto is willing to kill for his goals, something that has haunted their relationship ever since she unsuccessfully tried to keep him from killing Zaladane in the Savage Land.  The second is that the cause of mutant supremacy will always be paramount to him, with his family coming second, and other relationships coming third.  Rogue is dedicated to a similar cause, but she always puts people above nebulous causes.  And she would not be content with being third on his list of concerns.

Persephone's Gambit Extra: Christine's Tarot Readings

So while I'm getting the next chapters in order I want to take a minute to go a little more in depth on the Tarot spreads in Chapter Three, because a) I thought and re-thought about them a lot and I want to show my work and b) it gives me a chance to show off my Universal Monsters Tarot deck which I frankly adore.

(Note: As with other themed decks, the UM puts a spin on the standard suits. The correlations are Candles=Wands, Crypts=Cups, Claws=Swords and Castles=Coins/Pentacles.)

So, this chapter features two spreads. The first one is a three card spread Christine remembers Meg giving her shortly before Erik entered her life. This type of spread can have a lot of different interpretations based on the question and intent, but probably the most common (and the one used here) is past-present-future:

Meg jokes about Christine living in a dream world, because all three of these cards have something to do with fantasies, illusion, and the unreal.

The Seven of Cups represents fantasies and wishful thinking. It presents possibilities (too many of them, sometimes) but warns that the subject may be so wrapped up in what might be that they're not dealing with things practically. Christine's father built her castles in the air, but left her with no real ground to stand on when he was gone.

As in other areas, The Moon in Tarot has a wide range of symbolism attached to it, but most often it is taken to represent illusion, fear, and feelings which have been repressed or hidden. Now alone, Christine is lost and directionless. She cannot see a way forward without her father, and in the face of the unknown retreats to the comfort of her own inner world. Which is a problem, because ahead of her lies...

The Magician, Reversed. The Magician represents human knowledge, skill, and craft--the ability to understand the world and shape it to our will. When a card is reversed in Tarot, it indicates the values represented are either absent or being used for unhelpful or malevolent purposes. A reversed Magician represents deception, manipulation, and hidden agendas. Christine is being warned of someone, someone who is not all he appears to be and whose seemingly benevolent actions conceal darker motives...

Then during Alice's salon, Christine receives another reading, this one a five-card spread:

As in the three card, the cards in the middle of the cross represent past, present, and future:

The Two of Wands is about choices and forks in the road. Christine was offered a choice: marriage to Erik or death to Raoul? But she turned it into a different kind of choice--accept the situation forced upon her, or forge her own path. In doing the latter, she's set the fates of herself and those around her in a new direction.

The Two of Coins represents balance, but a precarious balance requiring significant effort to maintain. With two suitors, a budding career, and her own quest for self-knowledge all in play, Christine has found a momentary equilibrium in her life, but this state of affairs cannot last forever.

Judgement is the penultimate card of the Major Arcana. It is a final reckoning, the last necessary step on the journey between who we are and who we are becoming. For Christine, this card serves as both warning and encouragement. The decision she deferred in the past is still before her, but so is the understanding that will allow her to make that decision with confidence.

The upper card in the cross represents things unknown or unacknowledged by the subject. In this spread it's the Five of Wands, the card of competition and the fight for supremacy. Erik and Raoul may have called a reluctant truce, but they each remain determined to be the victor in the battle for Christine's heart. The UM deck symbolizes this contentious state with Phantom's falling chandelier, but the conflict the card represents is not always destructive. Sometimes it's a necessary struggle that leads to greater understanding.

The last card is the inherent potential in the situation: given what the previous cards have shown, what is the possible outcome? The Sun, with its emphasis on joy, freedom, and truth, suggests that it will be a good one...eventually.

I feel like Gambit kinda doesn't care about his weight. Like, he knows most of his attractiveness comes from his confidence, but also he presents himself decently. It's just his job & X-Men activities that keep him so in shape so he never really has to try, no matter how shit his diet is.

But, maybe once he & Rogue retire & move down south, he puts on weight quick since he's not as active anymore, also Rogue's southern cooking treats frying oil like a deity. He doesn't notice at first but it piles on QUICK & he doesn't know how to feel. Kind of nervous that Rogue won't think he's sexy, but nah man she loves it. So... Yeah, retirement bod Remy supremacy. Let him get old & soft & fat. Big soft tummy, little titties that are barely hidden by his slutty little shirts. He probably has to throw out all his skin tight pants and go up a size (realistically, 3 sizes)

At last, I felt the tension begin to leave his body, as my deep kiss made his self-control slowly melt away. My full lips, pressed against his full ones, nuzzling their softness, teasing before they gave way to my tongue cleaving his mouth open. He gasped as I grasped his face strongly. I explored the warm cavern of his mouth, dueled his tongue for supremacy and, triumphant, sucked gently on the acquiescing muscle. The groan that began deep in his throat wanted to escape and fill the room, but I continued to silence him, with one soul-scorching kiss after another.

I straddled him while he reclined on the curved sex chaise that was covered in red PVC, and I could feel him hardening rapidly underneath me. I chuckled into his mouth while I continued to kiss him. He was right where I wanted him: arms over his head, wrists in tied in soft rope, legs similarly bound. He was excited, eager to have his latest fantasy come to life. All I knew was that I'd have a wicked good time with him, same as always.

I knew when I first saw him that he was trouble, but not in the way he usually inflicted chaos on the world. Yes, he was a merciless assassin, but to me, he was trouble in the sense of his energy: powerful, mysterious, barely contained. Primal, like a tiger hunting its prey and biding its time.

I'd met him at a friend's party. He'd tried to woo me with a sweet, charming veneer at first, but he soon revealed his true self after I mentioned I'd heard of his work. I told him I was glad he'd stopped pretending with me, that someone with my unique skill set would never fall for his meet-cute gambit, because his presence alone spoke volumes about who he really was.

He wanted to be a client, but I never mixed business with pleasure. I told him that. Exactly like that. And then I whispered in his ear what I had in mind for us. The lust that crawled across his face, narrowing his eyes and turning his lips up into a grin, let me know he didn't mind one bit.

What I didn't tell him was that he made me a little uneasy when we first met, with those intense blue eyes set deep into the contours of his preternaturally beautiful face–his beauty being much more disarming than his resume to me. But now, we were inseparable: lovers living together, doing the things that all lovers do, but also terrorizing the world with our unique sets of skills.

He came home with a toy, one that I could use to drag him to that line between extreme pleasure and temporary insanity that he loved so well. It was a basic prop that could be obtained from any mildly titillating sex shop, but he'd never expressed interest in one before. He was always in control for his job, but lucky for both of us, he liked to play much, much harder than he worked, and he was open to trying anything once. I took today's request as a deeper level of trust that had developed between us, boyfriend and girlfriend, sub and mistress. I looked forward to the vulnerability he would share, only with me.

"Ready to start the scene?" I said, breaking the kiss.

“Make it good, Mistress," he said, looking up at me with his cold, seductive eyes and his usual smirk. His mouth was closed, but his flared nostrils and chest rising and falling let me know that he would've been gasping for breath if his pride wasn't so strong.

He was my lovely brat, easily the most beautiful man I'd ever laid my eyes on. I let him get away with much more talk than my clients when we were in a scene; partly because of our bond, but also because of that cold-blooded reputation. I liked to get as close to that line of danger and excitement as possible for myself, just as much as my clients and my lovers did, which is why my schedule was filled with the scariest of killers and thugs. But I always knew not to push so far that they wanted to break character–and break my bones.

I gave him one last kiss. We both smiled at each other, and while our eyes locked in a gaze of mutual admiration, my right hand grasped the gag on the side table.

Soon, everything was in place. I stifled a moan as I took a look at him: his mouth parted and his full lips comfortably cradling the red silicone ball, while the leather straps hugged his face and drew even more attention to his prominent cheekbones. The pale, naked skin of his body flushed as he waited for me to do my worst.

His wide, cyan eyes were starting to glaze over, occasionally hidden by the fan of his eyelashes every time he blinked. His dark hair had been perfectly styled, but now shaggy bangs almost covered those eyes, thanks to his arching and squirming. He'd come undone a bit already, yes, but he and I both knew it was only the beginning. I'd savor every scandalous thing I'd do along the way to give him release with an edge.
