I literally woke up in the middle of the night like God will dark rise is so fucking screwed. The line that’s like. “Everyone wanted to kill the Dark King.” What’s the part where he looks at Violet helplessly, haunted, almost pleading for mercy? But of course he reveals nothing of substance to anyone. Elizabeth is too young to understand but the reader knows what “Her relationship with that boy was…unnatural” can mean. Tying him to bedposts? Failing to strangle him? What else? Never not even once seeing beyond a mythological identity Will himself didn’t know he had? What did he think was the reason? That he was just intrinsically hateful? Of course he says nothing. Of course Violet can’t trust him- he’s given her nothing as painfully real as what she’s given him. So he gives her the sword hoping at least he can die at the hands of someone he loved, but even that doesn’t work out - she gives the sword to a Visander still furious at SARCEAN. The pattern continues; no one looks at Will, who vomits when he realizes what’s happened to James, Will who is much of a liar and killer and sneak as Elizabeth accuses but nonetheless wants to be different. Even when he doesn’t remember his own past. There’s no way out for him that doesn’t hurt. Hope this obsession passes soon given the one and a half years of waiting required for book 3

you make really good points, I think I used the term karmic wrong sorry. I think of it more as not how I personally think he deserved all that happened to him (which thinking back os exactly what karma means, I messed up sorry), but as his fate being directly tied/parallel to anyas. I handnt noticed the toxicity of jimmy and curlys relationship, from the first playthrough I watched and the first interactions I had w fandom I saw so many ppl just. dismiss the terror Anya went through and focus too much on him as the "ultimate victim" and that just didn't sit well w me. I really dislike seeing ppl go "oh well nothing could've been done" I think it's much more complex than that. also I forgot to mention in the last ask that I really appreciate you bringing the point that this game isn't just about the harm of patriarchy but also very very critical to capitalism, I haven't seen too many ppl touch on this. I hadn't thought too deeply about how it makes "he deserved to become disabled as punishment" come up and I agree that's really messed up. I'll try watching a playthrough again with all of this in mind. but either way thanks! I really appreciate your answer 🫶🏼

I guess this is just part of being in a fandom like this. I've noticed a lot of people don't actually see posts outside of their curated view. So some people only get like anya posting or jimmy or curly and it can make it seem like that is what is saturating the conversation.

I mainly just follow the general tags and look for anything new because I'm like obsessed but I know some are only looking for what they want or believe to be the case and can get weird about other ideas.

Sorry if I came off mean its just a last few of the asks have been like circular conversations like this and its not draining per say but seeing all the nuance and details get overlooked to fit a straightforward and basic narrative really sucks cause there's a lot to explore character and theme wise.

i have some serious questions about Charade’s plan in DA2′s quest “Gamlen’s Greatest Treasure”

like, okay. she finds out this Gamlen Amell dude is her dad bc her mother tells her on her literal deathbed. And she knows her mother left him because of the Gem of Keroshek, this weird mcguffin thing he was so obsessed with finding. 

so she concocts this scheme to lure Gamlen in by using the gem as bait, to see “how far he’s willing to go for something he really wants”

you’d think with how much information she supposedly has access to, she’d know Gamlen isn’t a skilled fighter. he’s just, like, a guy. if Gamlen had gone for the gem, he’d have been killed by the dumbass mercenaries she hired. and even if the mercenaries hadn’t decided to take the gem for themselves, the final step of her plan involved luring him to a cave filled with undead and giant spiders.

like??? was the plan to murder your dad?? the dad that might not even know he even has a daughter??? was that what you wanted, charade?

reading the clone wars gambit series and thinking about the fact that the reason anakin continues to throw himself head first into danger, the reason he risks life and limb in increasingly violent confrontations during the war, is because he believes that if the prophecy is true, if he really is the chosen one, then it's his destiny to bring balance to the force, and the universe simply will not let him die before that destiny has been fulfilled
