Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival 2020
For ttff/20, the trinidad+tobago film festival has introduced a new category for student filmmakers to encourage and support the early careers of emerging talent. We are delighted to announce the student films in competition for Best Student Film:
ttff/20 Best Student Film: ‘La Pieza de Casseus (The Raging Dance of Casseus),’ directed by Camilo Mejía from the Dominican Republic
The jury notes: “we all found it to be a compelling and relevant story, with a very rhythmic, creative and natural approach. It was the most cohesive in terms of direction, editing, performances, sound, production design, production and emotional impact. We journeyed with Casseus in real and magical realms and it is a journey we would have liked to see continue. Congratulations to Camilo, we hope many others get to see this film and we look forward to seeing what other subjects and realms he will explore in future films.”
Honorable Mention: Carmencita- by Nayibe Tavares-Abel
Films in competition in this category were:
Carmencita, directed by Nayibe Tavares-Abel
Endless Love, directed by Duda Gambogi
Carne e Casca (Meat and Shell), directed by Dani Drumond
La Pieza de Casseus (The Raging Dance of Casseus), directed by Camilo Mejía
Waiting In Strange Times, directed by Kristof West
