Bozeman, Montana is located in Gallatin County and is just over an hour away from Yellowstone National Park and the Big Sky Resort. This picturesque city was named after trailblazer John Bozeman, who opened a way for pioneers to travel from the Oregon Trail to the mining town of Virginia City, Montana. This new route, opened in 1864, was named the Bozeman Trail. In the same year, John Bozeman helped found the city that also received his name.Surrounded by several significant mountain ranges, Bozeman offers some incredible views of Montana’s stunning scenery. These ranges include the Bridger Mountains, Tobacco Root Mountains, Big Belt Mountains, Horseshoe Hills, the Gallatin Range, and the Madison Range.

Chapter 216 Trivia
This is my favorite panel from this chapter, sorry Whyman…
"The world's top two rocket scientists" — only because they didn't head over to one of the NASA headquarters in Los Angeles (~550 km south by boat) for more people to help them out…
Chrome's quote here is generally attributed to the Greek philosopher Aristotle, from the book "Metaphysics". (Aristotle never says these exact words, it's only implied in the writing.)
Why was Chrome holding the flag? Was the flag-planting action to show the KoS passing new frontiers into space, or will it be a parallel for him planting the flag on the moon if he's one of the chosen ones?
Either way, that's not the original KoS flag, it's a copy with outlines.
The rocket's launchpad may be located on the opposite side of the bay to the large tree that grows out of the Soyuz capsule. At the very least, the side with Wavebreak Cliff and the Sapphire Cave doesn't seem to have large bays.
Xeno's scars disappeared so that we can fully appreciate his forehead wrinkles :)
The rocket that successfully makes it to space is attempt number 7, which is pretty impressive given that there's only 2 known rocket scientists working on the project.
This reconnaissance satellite is probably based off the first weather satellite, TIROS-1. It was built by NASA to see if satellites could be useful for studying Earth, especially in the case of natural disasters such as hurricanes.
You'll notice the unusual cylindrical shape, and the wiggle lines — this likely means that it's spinning like a top, which helps keeps it stable in orbit. Similarly designed satellites are the Meteosat 1st and 2nd generations, Hiten, Japan's first lunar probe, and Himawari-5.
At 25,000 km up, it's in a medium Earth orbit. The closest satellites to this radius are the GPS constellation (20,000) and Galileo constellation (23,222), both used for global positioning.
The KoS's satellite uses radio waves to send down the data, but early recon satellite programs such as CORONA simply dropped film canisters down to Earth in a reentry capsule (and then caught mid-air by a passing airplane).
We don't know what kind of apparatus Whyman uses to know what's happening on Earth, so we can't know for sure if they can intercept the satellite signal or not. If it /is/ possible, Whyman may not have the tools to decode the signal anyways.
Yellowstone may never have a super-eruption ever again, but smaller volcanic activity is still possible. The Gallatin mountain range is part of the Rockies, northwest of Yellowstone Lake. Due to tectonic shift, the Yellowstone hotspot is moving northeast, towards Gallatin.
If Yellowstone were to have another super-eruption, the ash cloud would cover most of the US, but the lava would only stay in a small radius of around 64 km. Since the population density is very low in the national park, there may only be a few unrecoverable statues.
China has a lot of wetlands, which since ~256 BC gotten drained to make the land "more useful", such as for housing. Cities like Wuhan are trying to make artificial wetlands to prevent flooding, since the rainwater now has fewer places to get absorbed.
Without people to keep up the irrigation channels, China's wetlands seem to have returned.
The Great Barrier Reef is off the northeastern coast of Australia, and after several thousand years has recovered and grown larger. In fact, it's the world's largest single structure made by living organisms, and is currently visible from space.
For the same reason that the desert in South America spread north, the Sahara got wetter. The wobbling tilt of the Earth gives the Sahara phases of more rain every several thousand years, turning it into a forest. Unfortunately, humans may have upset this balance at present.
The Perseus fleet grows stronger! (The) Medusa doesn't stand a chance.
Did they expect Kohaku to jump out the window like this? Because that's a lot of excess cable to be freely trailing her without going taut.
This isn't confirmed as this is a very pixelated photo, but the location on the moon here may be around the Eddington and Seleucus craters. The surrounding craters seem to have been enlarged and crowded together somewhat for the manga's image, but the positions are similar.
Interestingly, the Luna 13 spacecraft landed in a similar area to where the black spot is. Luna 13 was the third craft to land on the moon, and was carrying science equipment for studying the moon's surface.
Communication was lost December 28th 1966 after its batteries died.

Animal Welfare, Conservation Groups Announce Intent to Sue in Wake of Wolf’s Killing in Wyoming
On the heels of the recent drawn-out torture of a captured and bound gray wolf, a coalition of organizations has filed their 60-day Notice of Intent to Sue the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) for their refusal to restore Endangered Species Act (ESA) protections to the Western gray wolf. The Notice of Intent may be viewed at this link.
In July 2021, this coalition—Animal Wellness Action, the Center for a Humane Economy, Project Coyote, Kettle Range Conservation Group, Footloose Montana, and Gallatin Wildlife Association—along with dozens of other organizations filed a petition with the FWS requesting federal ESA protections for gray wolves in the Western United States.
The FWS released an initial 90-day finding in September 2021 that relisting the Western gray wolf as endangered “may be warranted.” The agency then inexplicably reversed course on February 7, 2024, when it found in its final decision on the petition that the Western gray wolf is not entitled to ESA protection.
Three weeks after this decision, a man in Wyoming ran down a gray wolf with a snowmobile, captured her, taped her muzzle shut, paraded her in a local bar while subjecting her to extended abuse—including going so far as to kiss the dying wolf while being filmed, the wolf too weak to do anything but bare her teeth—and finally killing her. While Animal Wellness Action argues that these actions are punishable under Wyoming criminal law, and numerous veteran law enforcement professionals have called for felony charges, he was required only to pay a $250 fine for live possession of wildlife.
“States have proven they cannot be trusted to sustain the wolf species,” commented Jessica Karjala, executive director of Footloose Montana, based in Missoula, MT. “They not only allow but endorse bounties on wolves. They have encouraged increased hunting and quotas on wolves, spotlighting, baiting, trapping, snaring, hound hunting. Here, Wyoming is turning a blind eye to the heinous acts of Cody Roberts. The delisting of wolves has led to the failure of state wildlife agencies to protect wolves.”
“It is so disappointing to see one of our Nation’s federal agencies, the only agency that has the responsibility to conserve, protect, and enhance fish, wildlife, and plants in their native habitat, become so disengaged from their mission and from reality on the ground,” said Clint Nagel, president of the Gallatin Wildlife Association, based in Bozeman, MT. “Our Nation’s wildlife deserve so much better.”
“It was illegitimate for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service to continue to deny gray wolf relisting protection under the ESA for our small population of state-listed endangered gray wolves in Washington state,” said Timothy Coleman, director of Kettle Range Conservation Group, based in Republic, Washington. “Outside of Northeast Washington, just a couple of wolf packs exist, and there are no packs in the entire southern Cascade and Pacific Coast wolf recovery region that includes high quality habitat in Olympic National Park. Slaughter of gray wolf source population stifles migration from Idaho and Montana and will likely delay wolf recovery for decades across Washington state.”
The biggest threat facing the gray wolf is human-caused mortality. Since 2021, Rocky Mountain states have liberalized legal killing of wolves and removed discretion from their fish and wildlife agencies in favor of letting lawmakers use wolves as a political cudgel. Unlawful killings, including poaching and poisoning, are on the rise too. Higher mortality rates will result in further loss of genetic diversity and connectivity between wolf populations across the Western U.S. And worse, in their refusal to list the wolf, the FWS is relying heavily on highly suspect data on wolf populations from states that use population-estimate methodologies that have been criticized by scientific experts.
“Despite having admitted that Rocky Mountain states use means and measures ‘at odds with modern professional wildlife management,’ the FWS has still failed to properly account for the impact of the uptick in human-caused mortality on Western wolf populations, as they are required to do under law,” said Kate Chupka Schultz, senior attorney with the Center for a Humane Economy, who prepared the Notice. “Compounding that error, FWS is also failing to apply best available science to the analysis—ignoring the good science and instead relying on the bad. These are just two of the multiple ways the FWS is violating federal law.
Now, this coalition of conservation organizations has formally sent their notice, arguing that the FWS’ failure to list the Western gray wolf violates both the ESA and the Administrative Procedure Act (APA). This notice is the third filed in recent months by various organizations against the FWS for failing to protect the gray wolf.

Are the class sizes of Archambault really 4 classmates each?XD Or is there like a range?
How about Gallatin? What is the usual class size?
The classes at Archambault and Gallatin are tiny. This is partly because I didn't want to have a sea of random names for players to deal with but also that the schools take a lot of pride in small classes because of larger amounts of and more personalised teacher time. Freddie would have been shocked coming from their Fenburg secondary school which was a lot larger; Trevelyan's primary school was similarly much bigger than Gallatin; Hyacinthe is from a smaller town so the size compared to their primary school size wouldn't have been as much of a shock but it was still wildly different.
At Gallatin, classes are less than 10 students (in Creme, your classes have 6-7 people - so you, Gonzalez, Hartmann, Max, Freddie, Delacroix, and Blaise).
At Archambault, there are some big classes, still mostly under 10 students, (which you have with Javi, Beaumont, Dominique, Mai, Yannick, Gabi, and maybe one or two others). They're taught by minor teacher characters (if they're there, this is when Creme MC teacher, Hartmann, and/or Sinclair, Raphael, and Cezara teach. Otherwise, your minor teachers are Anthony and Chiara). There are also fairly regular occasions where fancy academics or various other luminaries come and give lectures. The main classes we spend time with onscreen are the Natural Science, Politics, and Leadership classes with Vere, Clemence, and Pascal though, and they're closer to something like a Cambridge supervision - even tinier.
The Archambault structure (aside from a laissez-faire attitude to exams in some cases, which leads to a lot of problems when students in those cases go to university) is built on similar lines to Gessner University which is intentional because there is a strong Archambault -> Gessner pipeline. An academically able student with a strong and independent work ethic will find the transition from Archambault to Gessner easier and more familiar than students from other schools. The system is built so that a student like Auguste or Beaumont, having been academically successful at Archambault, can walk into a Gessner undergraduate course, succeed there too (assuming no mental or physical health issues arise! which is a big and wrong assumption!), and then walk into managing their inheritance/land or a career of their choosing.

I just traveled round trip across the country to see Joni Mitchell in concert. Stopping at National Parks on the way there and back home. The furthest west I went was to Cannon Beach in Oregon. Saw the Haystack Rock and the Pacific Ocean for the first time, first time seeing out west too. I went to the Badlands, Yellowstone, Mount Rainier, Cannon Beach, Grand Teton, Yellowstone (again), Theodore Roosevelt, and then the Indiana Dunes Nat. Park (which was the worst, there was a huge gas plant right next door and smog and pollution filled the air).
First time experiencing such large, expansive landscapes—I mean I've seen wide open spaces before, just nothing like what I saw near Yellowstone and Mt. Rainier. On my way from South Dakota to Montana, I took Route 212, which eventually leads to the Cheyenne Reservation, but that road was barren. Hardly any population, no exits, etc. just a two-way highway with big rigs flashing passed you. If you want to pass the person in front of you, you'd better calculate it right. Apparently it's one of the most dangerous highways in America. I rode that for hours, driving across flat, spacious lands and up through the Custer Gallatin National Forest.
I got off 212 before Billings, MT and that's where I first came across the Yellowstone River. That night I stayed in Bozeman, MT and in the morning spontaneously decided to go to Yellowstone. From there the adventure really began. White capped Mountains came into view for the first time, nearing Bozeman. I was so emotional driving to the West entrance of Yellowstone. It was early morning and the moon was setting over this snow covered mountain range, and the sun rising over it all. You wind down this long road, along rivers and through valleys—in the thick of nature (Route 191 from Big Sky, MT to the West entrance of Yellowstone) After Yellowstone I headed for northern Idaho, then finally Quincy/George, WA area where I stayed for a few days before seeing Joni in concert.
Joni was incredible. I was expecting my mind to implode but when I saw her but I was just like, yup there's Joni Mitchell. It was natural. She was so sweet and jovial and it was just the icing on top of this unbelievable journey, that was only just beginning. Following the concert I traveled to Mount Rainier. Going through Yakima county which was desert like, until you start nearing the park area. Just near the end of Yakima county you can see the rivers are turquoise. Then the farther you get into the mountains, the lakes are bright blue, glacial blue. Mount Rainier hangs in front of you, following it deeper into the mountains. Eventually I arrived in Packwood, WA and took a back road "Skate Creek Road S" to the Nisqually entrance. That went through deep woods, following a river until you hit a stretch of road with huge trees towering over you. By the time I reached the park the morning mist had fully moved in, blanketing Mt. Rainier.
From there I went to Cannon Beach in Oregon to see the Haystack rock. That was beautiful and magical. Then crossed Oregon, then Idaho where I reached Ammon, ID. I was going to have an early end to travel day, so I decided to go see "Across the Spider-Verse" but when I reached the area a storm moved in and torrential rain poured down. Ponding started happening, then all of the traffic seized and the side road I was suppose to go down was closed. I eventually made it to the theater, but you could here the pound of the storm from within. I was full of anxiety until the movie ended and I came out to sunshine and relief. A lot more happened but i'll leave this here. I had fun. ☺︎

Top Fishing Destinations in Montana
Montana has a diverse offering of pristine and productive fishing waters in the United States. From the glacial lakes inside national parks to reservoirs and rivers, the Treasure State is an ideal destination for those seeking tranquility and a plentiful catch. Following are some of the most popular destinations that should be on every angler's bucket list.
The Missouri River is a renowned fishing spot in central Montana, particularly close to the town of Craig. With large rainbow and brown trout, the river is famous for its fly-fishing opportunities. With consistent hatches and clear waters, the Missouri River is a favorite among anglers looking to catch trophy-sized trout. The river’s gentle flow and scenic surroundings provide the ideal setting for a peaceful and relaxing fishing retreat.
Located near Fort Smith, the Bighorn River offers an abundant trout population and consistent fishing conditions. Bighorn's gentle flows and abundant insect life create perfect conditions for fly fishing. Furthermore, given the river's remote location, anglers can enjoy a quiet and undisturbed fishing experience.
Flowing from Yellowstone National Park, the Madison River is a premier fishing destination with large numbers of rainbow and brown trout. The river's diverse sections, from the fast-flowing waters near Ennis to the gentler flow near Three Forks, offer a variety of fishing opportunities. Summer hatches make the Madison River particularly popular for dry fly fishing.
As the longest free-flowing river in the lower 48 states, the Yellowstone River provides diverse and productive fishing options. In the upper sections near Livingston, anglers can catch large cutthroat and rainbow trout, while the lower sections have large populations of brown trout. Fishing on the Yellowstone River is an immersive experience, with the river's powerful currents, scenic vistas, and wide range of wildlife.
One last river worth mentioning, the Gallatin River was made famous by Robert Redford’s movie A River Runs Through It. The river offers an exceptional angling experience against the splendid backdrop of Montana's mountains. With clear, cold waters filled with rainbow, brown, and cutthroat trout, the Gallatin provides challenging yet rewarding fishing opportunities. Anglers can choose between fly fishing in the fast-flowing sections near Big Sky or casting in the quieter sections closer to Bozeman.
Flathead Lake, the largest natural freshwater lake in the western United States, is a popular fishing location for lake trout and whitefish catches. The expansive lake offers clear waters surrounded by picturesque mountains. The lake's recreational opportunities, including boating and hiking, make it a perfect destination for a multi-day adventure or a family fishing trip.
Located near the town of Helena, Canyon Ferry Lake is another popular destination for anglers seeking a variety of fish species. The lake has robust populations of rainbow trout, walleye, and perch. With several campgrounds and day-use sites, the lake provides plenty of opportunities for both day trips and longer fishing retreats. Furthermore, the lake’s size is ideal for shore and boat anglers. Given its accessibility and amenities, Canyon Ferry Lake is a convenient and enjoyable fishing location.
Fort Peck Reservoir, in northeastern Montana, is a vast body of water with over 40 fish species, including walleye, northern pike, and lake trout. The reservoir's size and remote location offer a true wilderness fishing experience, its isolation ensuring an ideal outing for those seeking solitude.
Finally, Georgetown Lake in southwestern Montana is a favorite for those hoping to catch rainbow and brook trout. The lake's high elevation provides cold waters, meaning it is a perfect habitat for trout. Additionally, ice fishing is popular on Georgetown Lake in the winter. The lake's serene surroundings and abundant fish make it a great fishing destination year-round.

1, 14, and 25 for the ask game?
hiiiiii!
1 what are you reading right now?
Just started an in-depth study of the Gospel of Mark, so I'll be reading all of Mark and attempting to do it with certain perspectives and questions in mind... the list is in the car so I don't remember most of them, but basically how would the original audience have heard this / how do we read with with and without any surrounding context, with the context of the old testament but without 2k+ years of church history, or with modern brains and zero knowledge of Judaism, etc. I have other books I need to finish too. Rembrandt is in the Wind I started and haven't gotten far but really want to read it. Maybe someday I'll read fiction again too. XD
14. favorite game?
For a tabletop game, I love love Fox and Geese! card game would probably be Dutch Blitz. video game would be the Nancy Drew Her Interactive games - Treasure in the Royal Tower, Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon, Secret of Shadow Ranch are some of my favorites of that series.
25. talk about something you love?
I love the mountains. I want to move to the mountains. Northwestern U.S. or Switzerland or Canadian Rockies or I could be convinced by the Scottish Highlands but they don't seem to get enough snow to my liking in the winter. I've been so fortunate to live in a semi-mountainous (hilly) region, visit the Tetons and the Gallatin range, visit Appalachia and the Blue Ridge area, travel through various regions of Colorado, and visit Humphrey's Peak on the way to the Grand Canyon. Every single time, I love them even more. I love the species of flora and fauna that are there. I love the bitter cold and the sweet springs. I love the big wideness of it all. I love the hiking trails and the vistas and the changes and the challenges and the accepting of something tougher and wilder than you. -wistful sigh-

Yellowstone National Park by National Park Service Via Flickr: Descendants of mountain goats (Oreamnos americanus) introduced in southern Montana mountains during the 1940s and 1950s established a population in the park in the 1990s and have reached a relatively high abundance in the northeastern and northwestern portions via the Absaroka and Gallatin mountain ranges. Investigations of paleontological, archeological, and historical records have not found evidence that the mountain goat is native to Greater Yellowstone. Many people consider the goats a charismatic component of the ecosystem, including those who value the challenge of hunting them outside the park. But the colonization has raised concerns about the goats’ effects on alpine habitats. Competition with high densities of mountain goats could also negatively affect bighorn sheep, whose range overlaps that of mountain goats. Image: NPS/Diane Renkin

大家好! CL, SC and I enjoyed a yummy buffet lunch. The spring roll in sweet chilli sauce, tamago with sakura shrimp and ebiko, pandan coconut rice, sweet and sour seabass as well as vegetarian dumplings were especially tasty. For beverage, I chose warm low-fat milk over coffee and tea although, if they had pu er cha (Pu Erh tea), I would've alternated between that and low-fat milk. Overall, it was a nice meal and we enjoyed ourselves.

Pa and I returned to the vegetarian diner we ate at a few weeks back. Instead of bento, Pa had herbal soup noodles and I chose angelica herb soup noodles with added vegetable dumplings. My dish came with vegetarian 'mutton', konjac 'prawns', tau pok (tofu skin puffs), carrot, lettuce and Chinese tea mushrooms, which are much like tea eggs. Also, I'm avoiding Mike Chen's videos for awhile; he makes noodles look even more delicious than they already are and the craving he triggered this time is insatiable! To be fair, he's great and I have nothing against him; he's just too good at promoting food 😅

Besides rotating plant and animal proteins for meals at home, I have vegetarian food weekly when dining out, sometimes twice a week. Colourful vegetable dishes look so attractive, I wanna order them all! I've come to appreciate how our unpretentious, homely hawker fare relies purely on the freshness of ingredients to create their vibrant - and, very importantly, incredibly delicious - offerings. The end result: equally aesthetic and tasty meals as 'artistically plated' ones for those of us who eat moderately healthy AND, it's proudly ours. Contrasting textures, at once complementary and complex flavours, and food that embraces diners with familiarity like a warm cuddle at home, hawker food embodies all of it.
Whether it's moderately healthy or plant-based meals, our vibrant local scene has risen to the challenge. Brown rice is boring, dry and hard to people like me, but our hawkers offer fluffy and moist unpolished rice congee that is so yummy, as a hardcore white rice enthusiast (for now, add noodle enthusiast), I willingly eat it once or twice a week. If we want fish or veggie variety, all we have to do is visit different food stalls. This can be fun, like a mini adventure, when we ditch the car on weekends and hop on public transport! Delicious nourishing food plus a fun mini adventure - sounds like a recipe for good health to me!
youtube
Like people living in other Blue Zones, many of us here in Blue Zone 2.0 don't buy into the hype surrounding 'superfoods'. To us, it's done to drive up prices so that we all pay premiums for something that might just be marginally more nutritious (or maybe not at all) and make a few people very rich. What we have is equally good, very nourishing foods, such as pomfret, which has the highest level of Omega 3 amongst all fish (see the article in my previous post), as well as a variety of veggies that offer a wide range of benefits. As long as we make the effort to eat moderately healthy with what we have, we'll continue to do just fine. 下次见!
