Who created Galentine’s Day:

Galentine’s Day is by now a commonly recognized pop culture holiday. By that, I mean it’s mostly celebrated on the internet/via text/written online correspondence - although it’s definitely been commercialized, because you can buy shit tons of branded crap with the word “Galentine’s” on it. I like the message of the day, and I like the show Parks&Rec, where it originated!

What I don’t love and what has always kinda bugged me is that the writer who came up with the concept, Aisha Muharrar, doesn’t really get to benefit from all these other profits off of and uses of this thing she came up with. (And yes, it was a v collaborative writers’ room by all accounts, but the show creator Mike Schur, does give Aisha the primary credit for the concept.

(She herself is a bit more modest but I’ll go with Schur on this one.)

Anyway, all this to say, I looked her up today and it looks like she’s got a new book coming out that you can preorder! So if you like Galentine’s Day, and also books written by people who seem to be pretty good at writing, maybe preorder a copy today - give it to yourself or a Galentine. It’s what Leslie Knope would do!
