Sad to learn that the wolves I saw at GaiaZoo last year have both passed away a few months ago. Both were sixteen so really old even for zoo wolf standards. They were brothers.

I wonder what new species will take up the enclosure now, I remember back when I was there they were saying the next species was going to be Iberian wolves, but based on their vlog and blog about this the plan might've changed? We'll see.

where is better to visit? im interested

it depends on what you're looking for! i really like utrecht, amersfoort and zwolle, if you still want a city vibe. leeuwarden is really pretty too, and so is groningen. if you wanna see some nature, the veluwe is a really pretty area, and places like apeldoorn are still big enough cities but also have amazing nature close to them. we've also got many beautiful museums, like the teylers museum in haarlem, kröller müller in arnhem, or the mauritshuis in den haag if you're more into art. the islands (waddeneilanden) are also worth a visit, you can visit most of them from noord holland or friesland. i haven't really been to the south very often, so i don't have many recommendations for that region (zeeland, noord brabant, limburg) but i know limburg has beautiful places for hiking, zeeland has great beaches and the big cities in brabant like eindhoven or breda are also very nice! plus the biggest theme park of the netherlands, de efteling, is also in brabant, i love that place a lot too. oh and my favourite zoo of our country, gaiazoo, is in limburg!

this got much longer than i expected lmao but yeah there is so so much to do here, even the touristy stuff like the kinderdijk is cool, and of course amsterdam is still worth a visit (i am in love w the museums there) but it's definitely not the only stop to consider :)

Winnaars Leukste uitje van Nederland 2023: - Gouden award: GaiaZOO, Kerkrade - Zilveren award: Attractiepark Toverland, Sevenum - Bronzen award: Diergaarde Blijdorp, Rotterdam De winnaar GaiaZOO ontvangt, naast heel veel stemmen, van bezoekers veel waardering voor het park. Zij hebben het uitje beoordeeld op aanbod, faciliteiten, klantvriendelijkheid, prijs-kwaliteitsverhouding en sfeer. Bezoekers prijzen GaiaZOO gelegen in het Zuid-Limburgse heuvellandschap en reageren enthousiast “Alles klopt van ingang tot uitgang en alles ertussen in. Toppark, sfeervol, helemaal top!”, “Altijd vernieuwend en nooit saai. Bij ieder bezoek word je opnieuw verrast!”, “Al ben je er vaak geweest, toch zie je iedere keer weer iets nieuws. Geweldig!”. Attractiepark Toverland is dit jaar de nieuwkomer in de top 3. Het attractiepark opende in 2001 zijn deuren en krijgt lovende reacties “de beleving van binnenkomst tot vertrek, een magische wereld en een plek om met het hele gezin plezier te hebben”.
