TRAINING PARTNERS
MASTERLIST
Pairing: Zuko x Female Reader.
Summary: The Gang had gone to a mission to get something that Katara said Aang would need, but they left the two fire Benders of the team behind: Zuko and Y/N.
Warning/Content: smut.
A/N: Zuko and reader are both 18.
Tumblr media
Zuko sighs when he sits down by her side “I wish they would have taken us with them.”
“Are you’re really surprised that we’ve been left behind...again?” She chuckles at his frustration.
He just shrugs “No, not really. But still sucks. What are they expecting us to do while we wait?”
“You’ll get used to it.” Y/N says.
Zuko tried to ignore her, as he got up and started to practice his fire bending. Y/N smiled “Do you want a partner to train?”
“Hm...sure, why not?” He looked at her surprised for her offering. She was also a fire bender, so she would be the perfect person to train with him of all gaang. Well, except for Aaang, of course. “Let’s see how good you are.” Zuko says to her with a smirk.
“Don’t get too confident.” She smirks back at him.
“You’re ready?” Zuko asked as he makes some fire in his hand.
“What do I get if I win?” Y/N asked him.
“You don’t get anything. This is just for us to train.” He replied.
“Oh, come on. Let’s make a small competition, just for the fun of it.” She smirks.
Zuko thinks about and nods “Alright then.”
“Okay.” Y/N says to him “What do I get if I win?”
“Well, if you win, I will agree to train with you more often. What do I get if I win?” Zuko asked her.
Y/N thinks for a moment, before she replied “If you win, you can get anything you want from me.”
Zuko grins “Deal.” She smirks at him and as soon as he agrees, she already attacked him with her fire bending. Zuko starts to counter her moves “You’re not as bad as I thought.”
“I’m actually amazing at this.” She says as she block one of his attacks. Zuko just grins at her, sending another wave of fire at her, which she manage to block again, before she counter-attack. But it didn’t hit him. “Come on, pretty boy, don’t go easy on me.” She teases him with a smirk on her face.
He smirks at her too “Alright the, you asked for it.” Y/N still managed to block every attack he made, but he was way stronger than her. Noticing her struggle as she took a step back in each attack, Zuko send a much larger one at her, making her stumble and fall on the ground. He chuckles seeing he won as he goes to help her “Good job. I guess I want my reward now.”
“Maybe not yet.” She says when he’s closer. She used a move to make him lose his balance and fall too. Y/N took advantage of this and she sited on his lap, pinning him down.
That made Zuko groans at her “Alright, alright. You won.”
“I think we both won, just in different forms.” She smiles “So, what do you want from me?” Zuko just smirks looking at her. “What is it?”
“Do you really want to know?”
“Come on, Zuko. I’m waiting. What do you want?” She was still in the same position.
“Okay.” He chuckles “How about a kiss?”
That made Y/N let out a small laugh “Okay, sure.” She leans in and kiss him quickly. Her body moved on top of him, making him moan softly into the kiss, his hand moving to her waist.
“You’re even better than I imagined.” Zuko says when she breaks the kiss.
“Oh, so you have imagined kissing me?” Y/N teases him.
His hand moved to her hips “I’ve imagined a lot more than that.”
“Really? Like what?” She whispered, her face coming closer to his again.
“I’ve imagined exploring every inch of your body.” He says in her ear, his lips brushing against it.
“How exactly?” She asks in a whisper, closing her eyes at the feeling of his breath on her ear.
“I’m sure you can imagine plenty of ways. Now how about we get back to training?” He smirks. Zuko knew exactly what he was doing to her.
Y/N didn’t move “Hm...I don’t think I can imagine. How about you tell me?”
Zuko turns them around, before he get up and help her. “Alright, let’s go back to training.” But before he could get back in his position, she grabbed his arm to stop him. “You really are determined, aren’t you?”
“I just want to hear what your brilliant mind was imagining about me.” She smirks.
He laughs at her “Fine.” Zuko leans in again, his hand on her hips again, but this time his grip was stronger “I’ve imagined running my fingers to your hair, your neck..” He then whispers in her ear “I imagined kissing your body, starting with your lips, your chest, all the way down until I can finally taste you.”
Y/N had closed her eyes at the feeling “What else?”
His lips brushes against her ear this time “I imagined you beneath me, begging me...” Her breath was getting heavier just with the thoughts of this. Zuko then took a step back smirking “Alright, now let’s focus on our training?”
“...what?” She opened her eyes looking at him confused.
“You heard me.” He chuckles.
She rolls her eyes at him “You can’t say all of that and then just want to go back to training.” Zuko had done this on purpose and now she realized. With a groan, she agrees “Fine.”
Y/N was frustrated and she attacked him with more forcefully. She was going to make him pay to let her so frustrated and wet like that. She blocked his attacks easily, but he was still stronger than her, so she had the perfect idea to get back at him and distract him too. “You know, I also had imagined things with you.”
Zuko grins dodging her attack “Oh, really? Do tell.”
“I’ve imagined how you would kiss me.” She attacked “How good it would be to hear you moan” She did it again. Zuko was blocking all of her tries. “I also imagined what your face would look like with me on my knees for you...” He attacked her and she blocked, ready for her final struck “...right before I put you in my mouth.” He let out a laugh blocking her again, but she noticed his face “You’re blushing.”
He looks away before he clears his throat, trying to hide the fact he was indeed blusing “Let’s focus on the training, shall we?”
“You’re so cute when you blushing like that.” She smiles.
Zuko rolls his eyes at her and attacked again, but this time it wasn’t that strong “You’re just trying to distract me now.”
She managed to block his attack “Maybe I am.”
“But you’re not succeeding.” He says, making another try at her.
“You sure?” She dodged “You seem quite distracted with the though of me sucking your cock.” Zuko didn’t made another attack, he just blushed even more and glares at her. “Like I said, so cute blushing.” She attacks him now that he’s distracted, making him lose his balance.
He barely managed to dodge this time “You’re enjoying this too much.”
“I am.” She made anoter strong attack “Wanna hear what else had been through my mind?”
Zuko blocked her “Just stop the dirty talk...Let’s focus on the fight.”
“I can do both.” She says before she blocks his attack.
He sighs “You’re not making this easy.”
“Well, that’s my intention.” She louche another attack, getting closer to him.
“Fine, if you want dirty talk, you’ll get dirty talk.” Zuko says, making her smirk.
“Do your worse.”
“I imagined how you would squirm while I eat you out and fuck you with my finger. And then how I would slid deep inside you while I feel you clench desperate around me.” Zuko says while he attacks her.
“That’s hot.” Y/N says sending another attack, feeling herself getting wet with his thoughs.
Zuko dodges her attack “I think I can imagine you on your knees begging me to fuck your mouth.”
She chuckles, blocking him again “If I’m on my knees, you’ll be the one doing the begging part.”
He groans “Alright, you won. Let’s jus end this spar.”
“Alright.” She make a last attack, that makes him actually fall this time. “I won.” She then came closer and offered her hand to him.
He accepts and pulls himself up “I think we could both use a break now.”
“Yeah, I’m tired already” she laughs as they walk back to where the tents were, sitting near by and drinking some water. Y/N looks at him with a smile “Don’t think too much about what happened, I was just trying to mess with you.”
Zuko chuckles at this. Y/N noticed that her dirty talk had really got into him because she could see his erection in his pants. Zuko blushes when he realized she noticed and looked away, trying to hide it. That made Y/N smirks again “I know I already said that, but you’re really cute blushing.”
His face turned redder “Shut up.”
Y/N let out a laugh before her hands reach his face and turn back to look at her “Own, don’t turn away. I wanna see it.”
Zuko sighs looking back at her “It’s nothing.”
“It’s cute.” She smiled.
He looks away again “Just shut up.”
“You can be fine dirty talking but can’t handle being called cute.” She giggles “That’s one of the reasons I’ve fallen for you.”
Zuko turn to look at her in surprise “W-what?”
Her laugh died as soon as she relieved what she had just said. “Oh, fuck.”
“W-what did you say?” He asked her again.
“Nothing, forget it.” She says as she looks away from him.
“Wait, did you just said “I’ve fallen for you”?” Zuko asked her.
“No...”
“Are you sure?” He leans in closer to her “Cause it sounded kinda like you did.”
“I didn’t.” She could feel the heat on her face.
Zuko leans in even closer to her “Then why are you blushing?”
“Shut up.” It’s all she says.
“Please, tell me you did.” He says, his breath brushing agains her skin.
“Why?” Y/N asked in a whisper.
“Because I think I’ve fallen for you too.” Zuko whispers back. Y/N just looks in his eyes, before he leans in gently kissing her lips while his hand cup her face. She kisses him back while her arms go around his neck, making Zuko groans in the kiss as he pulls her closer. The tension between them was too much. Her hands travel to his robe, removing it from him. Zuko gasp softly feeling her hand on his chest, before his hands help her take her top too.
Y/N didn’t break the kiss while she palmed his erection through his pants, making Zuko moan in the kiss, his hands moving to unzip her pants. “Do you want me to stop?” She asks him as she helps him take off her pants.
Zuko shakes his head, his hand stroking her bare thighs “No, keep going.”
She unzips his pants too and pulled down all his remaining clothes, before she kneels between his legs. Zuko gasped when her hand started to stroke his cock “Fuck...don’t stop.”
“I’m not planning to.” She kept her movements while his hand found her hair. Y/N decided to tease him a bit more as she licks his member.
That made Zuko growls “Gods...don’t...do that...”
“Why not?” She asks with a smirk on her face.
His hips kept bucking up into her hand “Because...I’m...”
Y/N licks him again, slowly this time, making her tongue circling his tip “You what?”
“You’re...fucking...driving me crazy...” Zuko managed to say.
She just chuckles before she stops everything she was doing “Lay down.” Zuko does as she says and she smile before she straddles him, making him moan when his hard member brushed against her wetness. His hand soon found her hips to guide her down to him, making her moan as soon as she felt him entering her.
Zuko’s hand grips tightly on her hips “Fuck...so tight...”
Y/N stays like that for a moment to get used to his length stretching her, before she starts moving her hips. Zuko moans as she started riding him “Gods...” Her hips moved back and forward in a fast rhythm “Fuck...you feel so good.” He says as his hand cup her breast. Y/N moans making her head fall back.
Zuko also moans, his hips thrusting up to meet hers “I love watching you like this.”
“Riding you?” She asks.
“Yeah...” His eyes were locked on her body.
“I’m close.” She says between her moans as she felt her climax approaching.
Zuko grips her hips again “Don’t stop...let me feel you come.” Y/N felt her orgasm hitting her in seconds, making her a mess around his cock. Zuko also felt his climax with hers, coming inside her as she growns her name.
Her body falls on top of his from the exhaustion and his hand stroke her back softly “I think we should do this more times.”
“Training?” She looks up at him.
Zuko laughs “Yeah, training.”
“I’m glad they left us behind...again.” She laughs.
"Me too." He says kissing her cheek.

Katara never blamed Zuko for her mother's death, she was mad because he betrayed her trust at Ba Sing Se. She was literally about to use the special Northern Water Tribe healing water to heal his scar, the same water she used to save Aang from dying. My girl has every single right to not trust Zuko.

Tumblr media
You yawned and stretched, the silk from your nightgown tickling you. That had to have been the best sleep you have gotten these past couple of weeks. As the oldest in the “gaang” at 17 years old, you had to act as the mother of the group and felt this awful need to protect everyone all the time, thus granting you several sleepless nights.
Sure, Ba Sing Se didn't feel like home and it didn't feel 100% safe either, but you got to sleep in a comfy bed and wear some really nice clothes. You had to admit that it was nice to be working with the Avatar sometimes.
You pushed your tangled hair out of your face and looked into the full length mirror next to your bed. Yeah, you definitely slept well, that was no question. You could tell by the rat’s nest created on your head and the sleep lines across your arms and face. You definitely needed to wash up before you started your day.
You got out of bed, stretching as the sun kissed your warm cheeks. You were going to make the best out of today. Lots of planning, but lots of downtime too, so that was nice.
As you finally walked out of your room, you were welcomed to cackling laughter from Sokka, his finger pointed at you.
“Ha, ha,” you said sarcastically, Katara handing you a brush. “Very funny, Sokka.”
“Not just funny,” he said through laughter. “It’s hilarious, y/n! You look so stupid!!!”
You rolled your eyes, hiding a smile, and tamed the rat’s nest on your head, looking a little more yourself.
Aang walked in the house holding a bowl of snacks with a smile on his face. “Oh, good morning, y/n! You sure slept in this morning!”
“Slept in?” You tilted your head. “What time is it?”
Katara took the brush from you and set it down on a nearby drawer. “Almost 10 am.”
“What?!” You were shocked. You were usually the first one up always and if not, you never slept past 8.
Katara giggled. “Listen, y/n. I think it's great that you finally got some sleep. We never really see you rest well, so none of us had the heart to wake you up.”
You beamed. “You guys are the best. Well,” you stretched. “I'm gonna get washed up so I don't look like a sleepy monster all day.” Something about Ba Sing Se gave you the creeps, but at the same time, it was nice to be back in a place where you could bathe in warm water and not fear Zuko coming after you. It's not like you had anything against the Fire Nation prince… it's more like… he was an inconvenience to you and the rest of the gaang. Since you and Zuko were about the same age, you understood him. Well, kinda. You escaped the Fire Nation when you were younger, disagreeing with all of their ideals and overall how they treated the world. You did see the prince as Fire Nation scum, but at the same time, you saw him as a kid, just like you. He was banished for god knows what and he just wanted to go home. You didn't hate Zuko. Not one bit. You understood that he may just be in some sort of hidden pain. But you had to admit that it was kinda nice to not have him around to bother you.
You got out of the shower refreshed and ready for the day. It was nice to have a day off, so you were probably going to get some tea and write in your journal about how the past couple of weeks have been. You figured it would be nice to log everything that has ever happened on this little journey just in case you all wanted a refresher in the next twenty years or so. You slipped on some Earth Nation attire and smiled at yourself in the mirror as you braided your hair. Today is going to be a good day, you thought. Nothing better than tea and some late breakfast.
“I'm going out for the day,” you said, placing your bag on your shoulder. “Stay out of trouble today, got it?”
You looked at Aang and he laughed. “I will, I will! Have a nice day, okay, y/n? You deserve it.”
“You’re all too kind to me. Thank you.”
“And let me know if you find Appa!”
“I will, don't worry.”
You smiled and walked out of the house, smelling the fresh Earth Nation air. Luckily, the walls didn't cover the fresh air, so you could still get the almost afternoon breath.
You spent the beginning of the day walking around shops, buying some supplies and new clothes for yourself and the others. The markets were busy, but it was nice to get some of the things you needed without Aang begging for some stupid trinket that you always ended up buying him because you thought it was cool too. That was always your impulse, stupid things that Aang showed you. Those could be the death of you.
As you finally finished your browsing journey, you overheard a conversation while looking over a map.
“I swear their tea has gotten better.”
“Really? I dunno.”
“I'm serious. It has to be the best tea shop in Ba Sing Se.”
“Fine, we can go try it later.”
You turned to the two men a little embarrassed that you were eavesdropping. “S-Sorry, but I was kinda listening to your conversation… uh… where’s that tea shop you were talking about? I've been trying to find a nice place to get some tea all morning.”
The man hyping up the shop smiled at you. “Don't worry about eavesdropping, kiddo. It's right here.” He pointed to the map you were looking at and you were satisfied that it wasn't too far from where you currently were.
You thanked the man and began your journey to the shop. It was a little closer to afternoon and you could feel your stomach rumbling, so you just decided to skip right to lunch.
You walked into the tea shop and saw people smiling and laughing together, the heavenly scent of tea filling your senses. You were quickly seated at a lone booth and given a menu. Everything looked so good, you could swear that you were about to drool just thinking about food.
You decided to order something that the waitress recommended and as she walked away, you flipped through your journal, going over everything that you and the gaang had been through. You quietly laughed to yourself as you passed a page that said: note to self - slap Zuko’s bald head at least once. Imagine the sound that would make.
It’s definitely been a long trip of both laughter and struggle, and honestly, you were really happy. You don't remember the last time you had laughed so hard before you met Aang and the others. It was nice. Really nice.
“Here’s your tea. Is there anything else you need?” Your tea was set in front of you along with your lunch and you tilted your head at the familiar voice that wasn't your waitress from earlier. It was on the tip of your tongue.
“I think I'm alright, thank-” You looked up and the smile you had suddenly dropped. No way. “Zu-”
Before you could say his full name, Zuko covered your mouth and quickly let go, hoping no one saw or heard any of that. “P-Please don't.”
“But you’re-”
“I know,” Zuko’s voice was low. “Just… can we talk… in the back?”
You looked around the restaurant at all of the other people and back at Zuko. He looked so different. Barely recognizable. His face didn't look so pissed off and he had a short head of hair now that looked healthy. The only reason you recognized him was the scar, but honestly, if he covered it up somehow, you wouldn't have a clue that he was the prince of the Fire Nation.
You nodded and stood up, collecting your things. You followed Zuko to the back, almost a little scared. You had no means of defending yourself. You were a non bender, so if he wanted to pick a fight, you were screwed. You didn't even have a simple weapon on you. Maybe you were getting too cozy.
Zuko brushed off a small table and pulled out a chair for you, which you sat in with slight hesitation.
“How did you get into Ba Sing Se?” You didn't mean to sound so defensive. Well, you did, but you weren't expecting to. Especially not on such a good day like this.
“It's… a long story.”
“Why are you here?”
“Listen… It’s not for the Avatar.”
“Huh? Is that so?” You crossed your arms and looked him dead in the eye. “Then explain to me how you always end up where we just so happen to be. That’s suspicious, isn't it?”
“I-”
“If you hurt Aang, I swear to-”
“I don't care about Aang right now!”
The whole room went quiet. You had never heard Zuko say Aang’s name before, let alone not care about what the Avatar is doing.
“Then why…”
“I have my own stuff to deal with. It's none of your business, okay? I do have a life outside of the Avatar, you know.”
You nodded and looked down at your tea. “I'm… assuming your uncle made this?” You giggled softly.
“Yeah. He did.” Zuko’s voice was small and way less frustrated.
“So that’s why this tea shop has hype all of a sudden.” You wondered aloud, your eyes wandering to the ceiling.
Zuko cleared his throat and shuffled in his spot. “So… uh… what now?”
“Promise not to hurt Aang and I won't say a word about you being here. I believe that you have your own stuff to deal with, so prove it to me.”
“I promise.”
Your eyes locked with his and you smiled, shocking Zuko a bit. You smiled at him, the guy that’s been trying to hurt you and your friends this whole time. The guy who would’ve done anything for the Avatar to be in his hands.
“You probably hate me, don't you?” Zuko spat out, rubbing the back of his neck.
You tilted your head. “Hate’s a strong word, don't you think?”
Zuko looked at you, appalled. “I mean, I would understand if you did.”
“It's been a long road for you, hasn't it, Zuko?”
He nodded at you and you pointed to the other side of the table, just realizing that he was standing that entire time. “Let’s share some tea.”
“I-I don't know if that’s a good idea.” Zuko took a step back.
“Ah, I see,” you stood up, scooting your chair back in. “You’re a busy man with a job now.”
He just nodded at you.
“Well, I'll let you get to it then, but I expect to see you at 6 tonight ready to hang out, okay?”
“Wh-What?! Won't your friends notice that you’re gone?”
You just smiled, collecting your things. “Zuko, I do have a life outside of the Avatar, you know.”
Zuko’s face went bright red as you walked out of the room with a smirk on your face. It was actually kinda cute to see Zuko not being some evil kid with his heart set on hurting anyone.
“You’re leaving?” Sokka whined, watching you grab your bag.
“Yes Sokka,” you said for what seemed like the hundredth time. “I'm leaving. I just want to go get dinner out by myself tonight. Maybe go for a nice walk.”
“Aww man,” Sokka pouted, crossing his arms. “Who’s gonna make dinner now?”
You rolled your eyes, trying to hide the smile creeping on your lips. “Sokka, I left some money on the table. You guys should go out and get something to eat tonight.”
“Why aren't you coming with us?” Sokka tilted his head, counting the money on the table.
“I just want to go out by myself tonight, that’s all.”
“So you’re just gonna have a lonely dinner all by yourself?” Sokka questioned, looking skeptical.
“Yes!”
“She’s lying.” Everyone turned to Toph and your face went bright red. You forgot she could tell if you were lying or not, and it definitely didn't help that you were outside on the concrete so Toph could really feel right through you.
Sokka turned back to you quickly. “You’re going to dinner with someone?”
“Fine, yes, I am, so what?”
“Who is it?”
You rolled your eyes, already late. “Just somebody.”
“Is it a boy?” Sokka gave you a mocking look and you pushed his face away.
“Fine, whatever! It's a boy! So what?! Now let me leave before I'm late. Have a nice dinner everyone.” You waved at the group and ran to the tea shop, hoping that Zuko didn't leave yet.
The bell rang as you opened the shop door. “Sorry, we’re not serving tea anymore, we’re closing at the moment,” a familiar voice said. Iroh peeked his head out, surprised to see you. “y/n?”
You smiled, “hi Iroh.”
“How are you?” Iroh set down the broom he was holding and pulled you into a soft embrace. You never told the others, but you spent quite a bit of time talking to Zuko’s uncle when you got the chance. He was a wise man and kind as well. Maybe that's why you understood Zuko so well, you had someone to give you some insight on the boy.
“I'm good, Iroh. How are you?”
“Oh I'm fine,” he beamed at you, pulling away from the hug. “I'm getting to live my lifelong dream of making tea for the people of Ba Sing Se, so that feels pretty nice.”
“Well, you are the best at making tea, Iroh.”
“Oh, stop. You’re so full of flattery, y/n.” Iroh blushed with a smile. “Is there a reason you’re here?”
“Is your nephew here?”
“You’re looking for Zuko?” Iroh cocked an eyebrow at you and you chuckled, surprised that you were even here.
“I am.”
Iroh gave you a skeptical look, but honestly didn't care much. He thought it was nice that someone wanted to visit Zuko. “He is here. Let me go grab him. Would you like some tea in the meantime?”
“Tea sounds great,” you admitted, sitting at a table.
As you got comfortable, Zuko ran into the room, completely surprised. “You’re here?”
You laughed. “Of course I am! I said I’d be here at 6 didn't I?”
“I thought you were bluffing.”
“Well now you know I'm serious. Wanna hang out?”
Zuko gave you a side eye and thought for a moment. “I think I know what you’re trying to do.”
“And what might that be?” Iroh entered the room, placing two teacups and a kettle on your table. You thanked Iroh as he left with a smile.
“You’re trying to get info out of me. About the Fire Nation… aren't you?”
You shook your head. “You’re so defensive all the time, Zuko.”
“Can you blame me?” Zuko shut all of the blinds in the shop and sat across from you, taking a sip of tea.
“I guess not.”
“I'm surprised you’re not a little more on edge.”
“Why’s that?” You took a sip of tea as well, humming at how delightful it tasted.
“I'm a firebender. You don't bend right? I could literally take you down at any moment. And it doesn't seem like you have any weapons either.”
“I trust that you won't do anything. Your uncle would probably be pissed about the mess to be honest.”
For the first time in all of your time knowing Zuko, you heard him laugh. He laughed so hard that he snorted a bit, which made him laugh harder. Because of all of his laughter, he made you laugh too, sending you both into a laughing fit. It felt good. You haven't laughed this hard since you first met Sokka, all covered in Appa’s snot.
Zuko literally had tears in his eyes by the time he stopped laughing. Seeing him happy made you feel… good. Really good. It was almost a relief. It made Zuko more human. You didn't know if you could even remotely call him your enemy anymore.
You two ended up talking all night, Iroh occasionally bringing more tea or just little treats every now and then. You literally couldn't stop talking to Zuko. To hear about what it was like to grow up in the Fire Nation as a prince was interesting. To hear what Ozai was really like in person sent chills down your spine. To hear where that scar on his face came from almost brought you to tears. Zuko didn't even know why he told you all of this, but he could say one thing. It felt nice. It felt this giant weight on his chest had been lifted.
After a few hours, you looked at the clock in the shop and frowned. “Bad news, Zuko. I gotta go.”
“Already?” He turned to face the clock and pouted his bottom lip. “Alright then.”
You stood up and collected your things. “Thanks for the tea, Iroh!” You shouted, which was responded with a big smile and a thumbs up from Iroh.
“Thanks for stopping by.”
“Anytime,” you said, opening the door of the shop. “I'll be back.”
“You will?” You turned to Zuko, who almost looked excited that you said that.
“Of course I will. Goodnight guys.”
“Wait,” Zuko ran up to you, holding the door open. “Let me walk you home, it’s late.”
“Zuko, I don't know if that’s a good idea.”
Zuko frowned, but you were probably right. If Aang spotted him for even a second, both of you would be done for. “R-Right. Well… thanks.”
“For what?”
“Hanging out. That was fun.”
You smiled. “That was fun. Thank you for not killing me, Zuko.”
“Anytime.” He giggled, immediately taken aback when you pulled him in for a hug after dropping everything.
He was so… warm. I mean, duh. He was a firebender. But even so, his hug felt so genuine, so nice, and you didn't want to leave. “Goodnight, Zuko,” you said as you pulled away from the hug.
“Goodnight, y/n.” This time, he shocked you by pulling you in for another hug and pulling away only to pull you in again, but this time, your lips were inches apart.
“Can I kiss you?” His voice was in a whisper, his warm breath dusting over your lips.
You just nodded and closed your eyes as his soft lips brushed against yours. You wrapped your arms around the back of his neck pulling him closer. He smiled into the kiss, wrapping his arms around your waist.
When you pulled away from the kiss, both of you said a quick goodbye, your cheeks dusted pink.
Zuko quickly walked back into the tea shop to help Iroh close and put his back on the door.
“I'm glad you found a nice girl, Zuko.” Zuko jumped hearing his uncle’s voice, his face turning a dark shade of crimson.
Though if he was being honest, he was glad he found a nice girl too.

A/N: You all voted on this poll, and this poll, and this poll and after a LOT of voting (((again) again) again), we have this :) I’ll be honest though, I have mixed thoughts about this. Nova, I owe you my life for beta reading this ily girl (@that-multi-fandom-hijabi) Go follow her writing acc! (@novaaaaaa-writes) Here's my masterlist! Divider made by @cafekitsune
Warning(s): Enemies to lovers trope, mentions of blood, reader's a baddie, reader used to work for Azula, bad depictions of firebending, maybe some inaccuracies idk man, some people might be ooc idk 😅, thoughts about death (like once), lots of buildup, reader is a good cook, reader owns a restaurant, reader sets a table on fire, both of them are very attracted to each other lmao, reader refuses to fire bend, I kinda head cannoned, basically if a firebender doesn't firebend of a certain amount of time, the fire inside them builds up and can damage the wielder, like clogged pipe in a way, love at first sight (?), slowburn kinda, reader is GN but written with f!reader in mind.
Pairing: Sokka x Firebender!Reader

•─────•°•❀•°•──── ᴇᴇʟ ʀᴏʟʟꜱ ────•°•☁︎•°•────•
It was safe to say, you were screwed. Traitor to the Fire Nation and all.
“Ugh…” you grit out, patting your side in discomfort, pulling your hand away to find sticky blood.
It was safe to say that Princess Azula wasn’t too happy to find out you didn’t approve of the current ideals of the Fire Nation. Alas, you were too far deep into her scheme to leave then, and you were now- but this time, you ran away.
You weren’t going to find the Avatar- joining him would only make things harder on yourself- especially since he and his friends most definitely hated you for all the stunts you pulled alongside the son and daughter of Firelord Ozai.
So you were left with two options. Sit in the dark and disgusting alleyway you were hiding in and bleed to death, or find somewhere to stay, patch yourself up, and bunker down with a new identity.
If there’s one thing the Fire Nation would underestimate about you- it was your will to live.
The journey to the Earth Kingdom was torturous, your aching feet would be screaming in overexertion, yet you pushed on. Solitude was your only solace, though the lack of social interaction guaranteed nothing would stop the onslaught of dark thoughts entering your mind, it was comforting to you that you were finally free to make your own decisions without anyone else influencing them.
You reached the gates of the Earth Kingdom battered and bruised- the month of so that you traveled for changed your appearance quite a bit- your hair slightly longer and the numerous different climates you had suffered through allowed your hair to settle into gentle waves. You got thinner, lack of food turning you into a near skeleton, but the muscles you had trained your whole life remained, and you were stronger than ever. Obviously, the guards didn’t recognize you, letting you pass without a hitch under a fake name.
You found a kind older woman in the outer ring of Ba Sing Se, who offered you take you in for the night.
There, you enjoyed a soothing bath and a good meal, and she was pleasant company. You slept on the couch that night, and left early the next morning, leaving a few gold coins as a subpar payment for her hospitality.
And then you were on your own again.
Days passed, and then months, you worked almost every job under the sun as you finally scrounged up enough money to open your own store.
It was a nice and quaint restaurant, and you worked your blood, sweat, and tears into it- and that was a statement, you rarely cried. Not anymore anyways- experiencing so much loss does that to people.
You called it the Unagi- your restaurant known for its excellent soups and eel rolls, both of which were comfort foods growing up. Even though you vowed to start a new life, and throw your old one behind, you kept this part of your old life with you. You stopped bending, not a single spark or flame left your fingertips after the day you left the Fire Nation.
Months passed, 7 to be exact, and you had built quite the reputation in Ba Sing Se- travelers from all over had some solely to try your food, and they were not disappointed. Your cooking prowess as a force to be reckoned with- and you enjoyed in immensely. For the first time in years, you were happy.
Of course, rush hour was the most overwhelming experience you had ever had to experience- as you refused to hire anyone to assist you run your shop- your trust had run thin, and you weren’t going to risk the product of your hard work to anyone. Eventually, you learned to keep all your ingredients preprepared- and then cook them in your soups and put them in your rolls the morning of each day, so that they were all fresh and it was less work for you. All your customers were understanding, and respected you for your time and work. People loved your story- a stranger and a traveler with basically next to nothing, and then turned your life around in just a few months.
After a few months, you practically knew all the gossip in the city- always overhearing the snippets of murmurs from your customers. Usually, you paid no mind to them, but today, what you heard stopped you in your tracks.
“Did you hear?”
“Yeah! The Avatar and his crew were spotted at the gates this morning!”
“Do you think Ba Sing Se is in trouble?!”
“I hope not, after what happened in the Northern Wa-”
You stopped listening after that, going back to the kitchen with the blood roaring in your ears. You stirred the soup you were making with a new intensity, as it your life depended on it. Dread pooled in your stomach- if the Avatar and his friends came around the Unagi, you were done for. The Avatar would recognize you, the only one to have seen you without the normal mask you wore- and the only one out of the group you had met.
You sighed, deciding to ignore the fear you felt. Months of peace wore down your guard a little bit, and you were used to forcing your body into a state of ease after the first few weeks you had stayed in the city- nightmares plaguing you day and night. They were gone now, thankfully, but if the Avatar and his friends destroyed everything you worked so hard to maintain, you might break.
Fortunately, weeks went by without a hitch, no sign of the Avatar, and no sign of the Unagi being burnt down.
One day, on a relatively quiet day, you hear a few voices outside.
“Here Sokka, Toph, take some gold and treat yourself to some food, I hear this place is really good.” A female voice says, she sounded around 14-15 years old. “We’ll meet you back in the square- bring some for the rest of us.”
You don’t hear much of what the girl says afterwards, opting to resume taking orders. That’s when you lay your eyes on the boy in front of you. He had a wolf’s knot, something you knew to be common in the water tribe. He had the build of a warrior, toned muscles littered with scars that you knew weren't achieved easily. And his eyes, a brilliant shade of blue you thought you could get lost in, a pleasant contrast to the red of the Fire Nation you would be tied to for the rest of your life.
It takes you a few minutes to realize you were staring, and a few more to realize that he was too. You cough into your fist awkwardly and look away, realizing you had company.
The young girl next to him slams a few pieces of gold onto the counter, but you, unlike the boy across from you, didn’t flinch – you were used to it. “Whaddya got for us, lady?” she asks in a brash tone, but you weren’t intimidated, nor were you offended, but the boy you were staring at earlier still apologizes on her behalf.
You chuckle lightly, it amused you to see the energy in the two of them as you respond to the girl’s question. “The gold can get you some soup with some salmon, along with eel rolls, on the house.” you say, smiling lightly.
The boy’s eyes light up in excitement, though he seemed a little older than you, there was no mistaking that childish enthusiasm for a nice homecooked meal.
“Can I get your name?” You ask, grabbing your notepad and quill to write down the order.
“Sokka” he says, with a teasing sparkle in his eyes, and you can’t help but grin at his antics. It’s been a while since you felt like this. You, giddy over a crush? The feeling was a little foreign to you, but it wasn’t unwelcome.
“And you?” he asks, leaning slightly over the counter. You reciprocate his movements, telling him your name and telling him and his friend to take a seat.
Sokka and his friend, Toph, left shortly after, taking their soup to go and devouring their eel rolls. It was late now, you were sweeping up the floors, planning to leave and close the Unagi in an hour or so, before something unexpected happened.
You feel a sharp pain in your chest collapsing to the ground, your insides felt like they were burning, invisible flames eating away and you. Tears prick the corners of your eyes, mind raging and all you could see what red.
Why was this happening to you?
You felt your body flare up in pain, and all you wanted was for it to stop for it to go away.
“You will always be a part of the Fire Nation. “Azula had told you, with a manic look in her eye. “No matter how long you try to suppress it, your inner fire will never be satisfied. One day, your fire will turn against you, your body won’t be able to handle it anymore, no matter how strong you think you are. Let’s face it, you’re a monster, just like me.”
You didn’t hear the jingle of the door opening.
Letting out an anguished cry, you thrust out your arms, cerulean flames setting one of your tables on fire.
And staring at you, through the blue flames, were those sparkling eyes you loved so much. Staring at you with disgust and horror.
“Sokka, oh my god-” you say, in shock.
“Who are you.” he cuts in, his eyes sharp and cold.
“I-I swear, I’m not with the Fire Nation anymore, I-” You stutter, your throat closing in. You stumble back, staring at the flaming table with a horrified look in your eyes.
Sokka looks at you, unsure of what to do. You were the enemy, you were a firebender, one who could wield blue flames. Yet... he knew you were telling the truth. You were the same person who kindly gave them free food and didn’t turn them away even with Toph’s brashness.
He sighs, and looks around, before turning back to you. “C’mon, let’s go find my friends. My sister’s a waterbender, she’ll put out the fire for you.
You just stand there numb, your body still reeling from the aftershocks of feeling so much pain. You didn’t realize you were crying until Sokka walks up to you and wraps his arms around you, letting your tears soak into the fabric of his shirt. He strokes your hair lightly and holds you close. He smelled earthy, a musk that reminded you of the scent you smelled after it rained, all natural and grounding, soothing your worries.
“I’m here.” is all he says, and you stand like that, Sokka’s frame blocking the blue flames from your sight- a barrier between the life you live now, and the one you left behind.
BONUS:
After Sokka and you find Katara and the others, you put out the fire- Aang recognized you immediately, but Sokka vouched for you, saying that you didn’t ally with the Fire Nation anymore, and that you were trustworthy. And then, once you guide them to the back of the store, where your living quarters were, you and Sokka were alone again.
“Hey Sokka?” you ask, the boy in question looking at you with his full attention. “Why were you at my shop in the middle of the night?”
Sokka chuckles sheepishly and looks at you with that sparkle in his eyes. “I may or may not have been craving those eel rolls of yours.”
You snort, and you look at him with a teasing smile on your face. “You still hungry?”
It was safe to say neither of you got much sleep that night, up laughing and throwing rice grains at each other.

⁺˚*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚⁺‧͙⁺˚*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚⁺‧͙⁺˚*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚⁺‧͙
“You don’t actually believe any of this stuff, do you?” Sokka painfully reminds me of his disapproving attitude about my belief in fortune tellers.
We were walking through the forest when we ran into an eerie man. He knew about the future. He had given us an umbrella because a psychic told him to and then it started to rain. It was weird.
Katara and I took one look at each other and immediately agreed. We have to go see this lady.
Events like these would be odd to anyone else, like Jet. But to Aang, it’s pretty common. It must be his tie to the spirit realm, magic gravitates toward him.
After a few weeks of joining the group and abandoning my post with the Freedom Fighters, I had learned a lot of things about the people who stumbled upon that Fire Nation camp and changed the trajectory of my plans. Katara and Sokka are siblings from the Southern Water Tribe, and Aang is an airbender from… a while ago. He was frozen in the ice for one hundred years when Katara found him. They’re amazing. I can see why Zuko hasn’t caught up to them yet.
But I also don’t want to know what Zuko would do to Aang if he did catch up, or what I’d do if he did.
I don’t know my place in this group yet, or if I should tell them I’m a fire-bender, but for now, we’re standing in front of a circular red door at the strange village the eerie man told us to go to.
Apparently, Aunt Wu has been waiting for us.
“Kind of, it’s nice to know.” I reply to Sokka’s sour question.
I’ve been thinking about what to ask the psychic. I didn’t want to spoil the fun, like ask if we would win this war or if I’ll ever come home. I decided I would keep it light, like Katara. Ask about love.
When we enter, a little girl in a pink robe and two buns on the side of her head greets us.
“I’m Meng and I’m Aunt Wu’s assistant.” She introduces herself. She motions towards the pillows on the right for us to sit down. It’s a small yellow waiting room with red lights, green accents, and a wooden floor. Cozy. “Would you guys like some tea or bean curd puffs?” She offers.
“I’ll try a puff!” Sokka perked up. Meng leaves the room to retrieve the goods and we are left alone, sitting on the soft cushions.
“You don’t believe in fortune telling, Sokka?” Aang asks.
“I don’t need some psychic to tell me about the future. I’m worried about right now.” He shrugs.
I roll my eyes. “Sokka’s a skeptic.”
Before he can reply to my dig, Meng returns with the curd puffs and tea. She sets it down in on the floor front of Aang, making sure he can see her favor toward him. “Enjoy!” Meng blushes and scurries away.
Sokka drags the tray away from an unbothered Aang, “Don’t mind if I do.”
I’d gotten used to Katara and Aang, they were fairly easy to travel with. But it was Sokka who intrigued or bothered me. He was unlike anyone I’d ever met before. His jokes, I’ll admit were a little funny, but he can be so stubborn sometimes. He didn’t even think Katara was right when she said to put up the tarp on the tent. She was totally right, it’s better to be safe than sorry when it comes to rain! Or how on the entire walk here, he was the world’s biggest pessimist.
But then he’ll take the fishing job for us when we’re out of money. I mean, He did get us sick for being out in the storm, but it’s the thought that counts, right? The same reason he can be frustrating is the same reason he saved the village: he won’t listen to anyone when his mind set.
He’s true and noble, really. It’s admiring. I shake my head. He’s a conundrum.
An older woman wearing a floor-length yellow robe walks in from the backroom. This must be Aunt Wu. “Welcome! Who wants to go first?” she gleefully asks.
I look at everyone, but no one speaks up. After a moment of silence, I raise my hand. “I’ll go.”
“Perfect, follow me!” Aunt Wu guides me to the hallway which leads to her workspace. She opens the door to let me in first and I’m greeted by dim lights and a small fireplace in the middle of the room. There are sitting cushions and lit candles on the floor, near a decorative stand with a bowl. A closer look and I see small and medium sized bones at the very top.
“This is my method. You choose a bone, throw it in a fire. The fire makes cracks in the bones, and I read the cracks. The bones never lie.” She explains. “Go ahead.” I grab a random bone and throw it in the fire, per her instructions, and watch as the flames engulf the calcium.
We sit down in front of the fire as we patiently wait for the cracks to start forming. Aunt Wu is focused on the fortune while I look around the room, pretending I’m not waiting for a prediction.
“Do you have any questions?” She asks.
“I don’t know, I mean. You can just tell me what the bones say.” I chicken out from my original plan.
By now, there are a few cracks in my chosen bone. Aunt Wu burrows her eyebrows and leans forward. “I see you falling in love with a warrior.” She pauses. “His mother figure left his life early, when he was just a little boy. He is an excellent swordsman, and an even better friend.”
“You can see all of that from a bunch of cracks?” I question, deflecting from the fortune.
“Yes, you’ll take part in a great battle with this love of yours.” She goes on. “Remember to look in friendship.” Friendship.
“I will,” I nod. “Thank you, Aunt Wu.” I get up from my pillow and bow to her as a gesture of goodbye. I wonder if she knew what I wanted to ask.
When I exit the room through the door, I’m greeted by a flustered Sokka.
“Spying on me?” I ask him, fighting a smile on my face.
“No, I was just – going to the bathroom!” He spoke. Quickly, he marched to the restrooms beyond Aunt Wu’s door. O-kay.
I walk back to the waiting room and tell Katara to go in after me. She jumps up from her seat in a giddy excitement and heads toward the back room.
I sit next to Aang on the soft pillows and search for the curd puffs. Sokka made them look so good.
“So, what do you think she’s going to ask?” Aang says as he hands me the snack.
“Probably about love, you know. Who she’s going to marry. If he’s gonna be tall.” I stuff the curd puff into my mouth and let the savory taste absorb my mind. These are good.
“Yeah, haha, right. Well…I’ll be right back.” He stands up. “I gotta go to the bathroom!” Apparently, everyone needs to right now. But it’s the first stop we’ve made in about an hour, so.
“Say hi to Sokka for me.” I watch as he hurries away. A few seconds later, the boy in blue returns.
I hold a puff in my hand and point at the delicious snack for emphasis. “Hey, these are great.”
He sits next to me and grabs one for himself, eating it in one bite. He seems to be in thought. “Are you okay?” I poke.
“Yeah, I’m great.”
When we leave Aunt Wu’s, Sokka’s walking next to me as Katara and Aang lead the way.
We reach the center of town when Katara asks, “What happened to the sky?” The citizens are staring upward, murmuring to themselves.
A man standing nearby overhears her question. “Every year, Aunt Wu reads the clouds and tells us the fate of our village.”
“Can you believe this guy?” Sokka looks at me in disbelief. “Now the clouds?”
Another villager, a woman, continues the man’s explanation. “She’s going to tell us if the volcano will remain dormant.” She points to the mountain behind her.
Do they actually let Aunt Wu tell them if the volcano is going to erupt? How?
“Do you actually let Aunt Wu tell you if the volcano is going to erupt? How?” Sokka asks the man. Took the question right out of my brain.
“She’s coming, hush!” Katara shushes her brother.
Aunt Wu walks right in the middle of the crowd as they make way for her, clapping and cheering. She begins to list the shape of the clouds, followed by a prediction of the town. Good harvest, twins are having a good year, and the volcano will not erupt the town.
“She’s been right for twenty years, maybe that’s a sign she can be trusted.” I nudge Sokka with my elbow. He rolls his eyes in annoyance, I’ve been bought like the rest of them.
Katara and Aang are swept away with the current of cheers and idolization for Aunt Wu. Though, it seems like since we got here Aang’s head has been anywhere else but, on the psychic, and her predictions.
“Right…” A suddenly serious Sokka pulls me away from the crowd to the side where we are separated from the group. “Just in case she ends up, being right, I want to let you know that… uh…” He lets the seconds fly by.
“Spit it out.”
“I like you.” He lets out.
Oh.
“And I know you’re not really like open to people in general,” He continues. “It’s been a few weeks and I hardly know about your life before the Freedom Fighters.” Sokka pauses to read my face. “But I like you. Ever since I first saw you.”
I haven’t really shared anything about myself to them, true. I don’t think about him in that way, false.
It was the morning after.
Fire Lord Ozai ordered his best General, my father, and his family, me, to attend a Royal Agni Kai. They didn’t happen much but when they did, it was required for all the important people of the Fire Lord’s inner circle and their families to attend. Some twisted tradition.
When I arrived in the sea of crimson clothes and serious faces, I believed I was going to witness an agni kai between Zuko’s Uncle Iroh and his brother. Who else could it be? But I was wrong. I saw Iroh in the audience, and it felt like a thousand pounds had been rested on my chest. I wouldn’t believe what I had to endure next. What Zuko had to experience.
I would see Fire Lord Ozai’s fire-bending with my own two eyes, but it would be in an agni kai against my best friend, his son.
Now, I’m locking myself in my room in defiance. I don’t want to have anything to do with my father if he’d let me see the cruelty up close and personal. Rage wouldn’t begin to describe the feeling bubbling in my throat.
I wasn’t sure if I should go see Zuko, if his injuries are unsafe for visitors. I’d regret it as soon as the servant brought the letter the prince had sent to me.
As I close the door to my chambers behind the maid, I open the note for the sign of anything relieving.
Y/N,
Father banished me. I must go find the Avatar, so I’m leaving on a ship. Uncle is coming. I don’t know when I’ll see you again, so I wanted to let you know that I was hoping we could be more than friends. But I can’t focus on that right now. I must find the Avatar to restore my honor and come home.
Zuko
I re-read the note three times before understanding what it is that he’s telling me. I feel two opposite feelings.
The bubble in my throat is slowly forming into a ball of tears, ready to pour out at any minute. He’s gone. He’s mutilated by his own father and then sent away. I hate him, I hate the Fire Lord. For everything he’s taken away from me.
On the other end of the spectrum are butterflies. The ones I’d been pushing down for the past year about Zuko. I didn’t want to ruin what we have or change it. We were nice as we were. I guess he was feeling it too.
But it’s too late. There’s no more time to sit and wonder if a boy likes you back. It’s not about that anymore. It’s about finally ending this war and stopping the Fire Nation.
“So, what do you think?” Sokka looks at me, searching for an indication in my eyes.
“I…” struggle to find the words, “like you too.” I let out a small laugh after my confession. “But I can’t. Not right now... I just want to think about it a little longer. Is that okay?” It’s my turn to look at him and hope I didn’t ruin everything.
But Sokka’s kind. “No of course not. I understand. I just thought you should know. I’ll be here, yaknow, if you change your mind.” He flashes that grand smile at me.
“I’ll be sure to find you when I do.”
I don’t want to ruin anything by being too late, but I’m not sure if I should go in this direction. I’m figuring things out with my newfound friends. They don’t even know I’m a fire bender. Would Sokka feel the same if he knew I was from the Fire Nation? I don’t want to know the answer.
Still, it was nice to know he liked me back. I could revel in that a bit.

Another unhinged Zukka fic idea
Arranged marriage trope, Ozai marries Zuko off to the prince of the southern water tribe to
a) strengthen ties after the end of the war
b) legally renounce Zukos inheritance of the throne bc he will be unable to produce an heir
Sokka tries to make the best of it but Zuko wants nothing to do with him and basically just says “stay out of my way and I’ll stay out of yours.”
Zuko overhears someone talking about how Sokkas ex-lover that broke his heart is coming on a diplomatic mission from the earth kingdom (Jet?)
Zuko finds Sokka cornered by this man from his past, and also finds himself facing a surge of primal instinct to protect him.
He calmly and casually struts up to Sokkas side, somehow still managing to look every inch the perfect poised heir-to-the-throne he was raised to be despite the thick polar clothes hindering his movement.
Zuko wraps an arm around the slightly shorter mans waist and places a chaste kiss where buzz cut meets wolf tail.
“Who are you?” The slightly disheveled looking man growls, jaw clamped down on a piece of wheat that hangs out the side of his mouth.
Zukos poised smile is replaced by a sharp frown as his gaze snaps from Sokka to the man in front of him.
If looks could kill- he probably would have burst into flame on the spot, and Zuko would surely try.
“I’m Sokkas husband. Who the fuck are you?”
I apologize for nothing

Chit Sang gets it.
Hand-on-shoulder is the Zukka equivalent of cuddling. Hand-on-shoulder is our Roman Empire.
Hand-on-shoulder will never just be hand-on-shoulder.

i pen this prelude, awaiting your return master post
As much as he hated the Fire Nation, this conference was supposed to be a diplomatic attempt to strengthen ties with the rest of the world. And here he was, son of Chief Hakoda, representing the entirety of the Southern Water Tribe, tying up the Fire Nation Crown Prince - not a day into classes.
And now the Prince was actively ignoring him.
But Sokka was Idea Guy, and one thing about Idea Guys is that they always have something up their sleeves. He hatched plan B: operation “forced-proximity-with-fire-prince.” If Zuko doesn’t want Sokka to talk to him, then he’s gonna have to make the Prince talk to Sokka instead.
It’s time to break some rules.
or,
the fire nation invited noble children from every nation to attend fire nation school. zukos responsible for disciplining troubled-students. sokka loves getting in trouble.
Read here at AO3

Romance snippet game!!!
Tagged by @sixseisliu (thank you!) and tagging @lizardlicks @geometricalien @fae-morrigan and anyone else who sees this and is interested because I am awful and forgot who writes fics and who doesn’t ;_;
rules: share a few lines or a snippet that sums up the main relationship(s) in your wip
Okay my main WIP rn is Zukka Blue Spirit x Kyoshi Warrior Sokka(if you know me you’re probably fucking tired of seeing me constantly drawing it and talking about it) two snippets, one from Zuko and one from Sokka’s POV!
Sokka:
Any time he wonders if it’s a lucid dream, he reminds himself that he knows what it’s like for a tongue to caress into his mouth, and for eager lips to clash against his own till he can feel teeth and want to keep searching for more. The memory of Maskie’s[it’s Zuko] lips stained with red and the crooked grin he sports, and spirits, how could he ever doubt that? What use is a name when he knows his loyalties, what makes him laugh and the things he would do for his people?
Zuko:
But there is no one to see him right now. No need to pretend for anyone. Princes in stories smiled down at their subjects. Small, gentle, other-worldly and true.
He revisits the weightless fantasy of the warrior[it’s Sokka] teaching him something new, tries to forget the daunting nightmare that awaits him. Imagines all the aimless rambles and interruptions in the middle of his instructions, talking about his own difficulties when he teaches him whatever he learned, and Zuko would listen intently, wait for the moment the pretense of a higher pitch drops and it goes back to the still-high tenor with occasional cracks.
Mother always liked to make him laugh.
He lets himself smile in secret, even if it looks dumb. After all, they are defined by them.
Hope this was fun to read(?) even if it’s out of context, I do need to edit some though. Thank you for tagging me!! Hope everyone has fun~

When Sun and Moon meet - S1
Tumblr media
Zuko x Fem!WaterBender!Reader Enemies to Lovers
As one of the Princesses of the Northern Water tribe, you were blessed with a gift by the moon. However you were permitted to be allowed to use the gift at all costs. From many hidden waterbending usages, the aftermath of the avatar visiting the Northern Tribe had led to your beginning journey, hiding yourself as a water bender as a princess from the Northern water tribe

“We announce the birth of a healthy girl…Princess Y/N!” Chief Arnook announced as the crowd cheered for their new princes alongside Yue. What the crowd didn't know was the difficulties of even keeping her a healthy princess. Once the baby was born, she couldn't stop wailing and crying. It was like every bone of her body was in pain. All the medical help didn't do anything, they didnt know why the Chief’s daughter was in so much pain. Yagoda suggests going to the Spirit Oasis, it's their only chance. Chief Arnook sweats as well as his wife, as if they're bound to be unlucky for every life they give. The royal parents of this princess used the same technique as they did with their previous daughter. Dipping her in the Spirit Oasis while praying for her life to the moon spirit, the color of the girl's hair turned from brown to a graceful white. Silent cheers and cries as they held their newest child close to them, happy the moon spirit gave another one of their daughters a second chance.

“Stop touching the edge of your coat” My mother instructed as she pulled my hand from the cuffs. I whined but one stern look from my mother stopped me. I huffed as I stood up straight leaning more so to my sister, Yue who took my hand graciously. In books and stories becoming a princess sounds like a dream. You have money, attention and you could do whatever you want. Everything is accurate except the last one, I couldn't do everything I wanted. I had to be restrained to the guards and my parents eye, even Yue doesnt get this treatment as much as I do. However I forgot to mention how I even got into strict confinement in the first place. “What are you doing?” My father grabbed my hand making the water orb splash at both of our feet. “She's a water bender…” My mom whispered as my dad's eyes widened. “Y/N…” He spoke softly as he held both of my shoulders in a kindly manner. “Do not water bend, it's not allowed for people like you”. I furrowed my eyebrows as I looked at him confused. He sighed as he took my hand. “Y/N, where we live only men are allowed to use waterbending, that's their job…to protect” My father shows me to the boys training their bending. “Especially people like you and your sister, you're both very important to this nation”. I didn't listen, it's not like I didn't understand what he was saying, I just didnt understand why it had to be like this. I zoned off as I saw the male benders. Envying that they can use their gift while I couldn't use mine. I snapped out of my zoned out space with a little pinch given by my sister. I flinched lightly as she slightly giggled earning a hush from our mother. I don't understand us needing to come to these royalty meetings, neither Yue and I are close to 16. Well she is closer to 16 by what? 6 years? That's still a whole 6 years till 16! I'm only younger than Yue by a year, however people treat me like a polar bear dog, cooing at me constantly for doing the littlest task while Yue gets treated so much more maturely. Some might say I have it easier but honestly I just feel dumb. Once the meeting ended we respectfully bowed and got up following our father. I held back my yawn as I saw the now night sky, looking how beautiful the moon is. ҉ ☾ I woke up in the middle of the night, groaning as I looked at the moon. I brush through my tangled hair with my hand while walking outside near the river. Is anyone there? I internally thought as I scavenged the area to see if there were any witnesses. I double checked and took a deep breath. Opening my eyes I hold the water orb, feeling the calming air around me. “You're going to get caught if you keep doing that”. I yelped and dropped my water orb. I turn around immediately with widened eyes meeting Yue. “Oh Yue” I sigh in relief as she glared at me. “You could've gotten caught by the guards and gotten in more trouble then you already have”. I sigh in understanding but also in annoyance. This isn't the first time I have snuck out to try out waterbending. Some days I have been caught but some days I haven't. “I'm going back to bed” I sigh with my head down “Are you?” “Yes, I am” Yue giggled as she patted me on the back. “I believe you can use it one day Y/N, I really you” She whispered sweetly as I nodded. “Thank you”
