ḶÎṰȾḺỆ ŊỊƓḪṬḾḀȐɆṨ, often stylized as just LITTLE NIGHTMARES or just NIGHTMARES, is a 5-membered girl group consisting of all Japanese members; some being half Japanese. The group originally debuted as a four-membered group with mini album CHAPTER 0: RULES on AUGUST 12TH 2022. It wasn’t until NOVEMBER 19TH, 2023 that a fifth member was announced to be joining the group. Currently the group doesn’t have a leader. Each member represents a respective nightmare and fear.

The BLOOD MOON is when all their fears + nightmares are strengthened and perceived as increasingly horrible and terrifying compared to when the moon is normal.

Each member has a respective charm; the charms were given to the girls at birth and were designed to protect the them from the BLOOD MOON and the things they fear:

LITTLE NIGHTMARES | WORLD LORE

NOTABLE PLACES IN THE LORE:

THE DEADLANDS is the main location where each of the LITTLE NIGHTMARES girls' lore take place; all intertwining but rarely affecting one another. It is described as a forgotten wasteland island that used to cater to the extremely wealthy and powerful elite. It’s never explained how or when THE DEADLANDS were built nor who built it. It now rarely gets visitors, but when it does they seldom are able to leave; becoming trapped and starting to change into something else. The BLOOD MOON rises over THE DEADLANDS twice a week and increases the ‘evil intent’ theory. All the girl’s fears and nightmares are strengthened and perceived as increasingly worse than it would be when the moon is normal.

It resembles a hotel esk layout while also appearing like a small apartment in which the guests live. Momo is trying to find a way out of the ‘residence’. When she was younger she was kidnapped and brought to the Deadlands and was made into a servant to serve the visiting guests. Nearly all mirrors in this area have been damaged, this leads to theories of there possibly being a connection between Momo’s lore and Yuki’s lore as she has the fear of mirrors.

Resembles a passing / traveling carnival. They’re similar to an amusement show that may be made up of amusement rides, food vendors, merchandise vendors, games of chance and skill, thrill acts, and animal acts. Yuki wears a mask / blindfold so she doesn’t have to look into mirrors. She is a carnival performer, does fire eating + sword swallowing. Her ‘family’ is a part of the carnival, so when the carnival moved into The Deadlands she became stuck on the island.

The mirror man only appears in the funhouse mirrors when Yuki looks into them. When she looks into them, she’s allowing the mirror man to come out of the mirror and allows the possibility for him to try to kill her and other people he can get to. He appears as a tall man in an army green trench coat, brown pants, and black shoes with a black hat covering the majority of his face. From his sides, though more towards his back, there are various length tentacles that appear a dark brownish-red color. It’s said that the mirror man is Yuki's ‘true self / her ‘true appearance’. The theory is that to kill it, the mirror needs to be shattered, or does it just unleash him into the real world? There’s two versions of the carnival, the bright colored real-life carnival and the mirror dimension gloomy, rundown, and creepy carnival. Some mirrors in the Deadlands have the ability to bring to life a person's deepest desires as well as their greatest fears.

The BLEAK CITY, or also known as the PALE CITY is a desolate and gloomy city consisting of various stretched buildings that bend and sag; a resemblance to the look of dying plants or ruines. Decay and damage varies in different parts of the city. The SIGNAL TOWER and the RESIDENCE are both located in the BLEAK CITY, making all three girls’ lore, MINA; SETO; and MOMO, possibly interconnecting. The windows and doors are rarely intact, either broken or boarded up to keep things in or out. It appears as if the people who once lived in the city had vanished into thin air as their clothes are posed in what position they were previously in and if any appliance was turned on before it was left unchecked, created damage of leaks and rot or possibly fire damage, clothes being left on clotheslines, food being burned in their kitchen, and so on. Luggages and suitcases are scattered throughout as if someone was taking them to leave the island but didn’t get that far. And for some reason electricity and some power seems to still exist; though some places are without power due to downed telephone lines and or damaged wiring.

Around THE BLEAK CITY, there are eye symbols littered throughout. They serve as a form of surveillance in the city and were designed to track everyone who enters the island. They’re motion sensitive and will follow the slightest of movement if in their line of sight.

“The black tower calls. And it will never stop unless you stop it. Are you ready to go back?”

The signal tower resembles a tall cell tower and a dark looking skyscraper; the former resting on top of the later. At the top of the tower is a flashing red light with a static screened tv that has a somewhat clear silhouette of an eye in the center. Some theories say that MINA’s lore crosses over into SETO’s lore, and vice versa, due to the images of eyes throughout. The brainwashing and mind controlling effects that happen in the Deadlands is due to the broadcaster. Within the tower there are several doors that lead to others within the same area or lead to another floor. Other doors don’t lead anywhere and have walls behind them. There are multiple metal staircases that are accessible to get to the top of the tower or to other floors. There are two elevators, one to go up, the other to go down. Seto has to try and stop the transmission from the broadcaster. The transmission tends to distort items, sounds, and beings inside the tower and eventually outside in the Deadlands.

The broadcaster isn’t ever fully seen, but is talked about and somewhat seen as a shadowed figure, it’s thought that the broadcaster is within the static tv stuck on top of the skyscraper and tower as many varying length cable wires are connected to it and the tower leads to other poles and tvs found on balconies or on the street or other places tvs may or may not normally be.

The OTHER MOTHER likes playing games. Hide n’ seek, Chess, etc.

The OTHER MOTHER is a demonic, shape-shifting entity that has a goal of luring children into another dimension, what YOSHI termed the HIDEAWAY or HIDEOUT, to take their soul in order for her to stay alive. Her outwardly appearance resembles an uncanny version of her own mother. Though there are a few aspects that are distorted or different to her actual mother’s appearance. YOSHI will sometimes call her ‘THE PRETENDER’

Buttons replace eyes in this area, giving dolls and people a form of voodoo appearance. There’s a lot of references to children's games and toys are seen laid about the areas.

In THE HIDEAWAY it’s always nighttime but there are often vibrant and sometimes bright colors and an uncanny almost homey feel. To which some theories were made that it’s made to feel like that to disguise the real undertone this place has.
