Valeria never thought she would be promoted to Lady Arryn. That much was for sure, she had lived her life knowing that she was a bastard and that she wouldn’t have to be confined to a role as a Lady of a noble house. Her father was so proud of her that he wanted to legitimize her. What she especially didn’t expect is her to have an arranged marriage, to Daenerys Targaryen no less. Two women in an arranged marriage? It was unheard of, why wasn’t Robin betrothed to her instead? 

Apparently she was suited for the position.

Her long, dark hair and pale skin, a perfect example of a child of the Vale, was in stark contrast to the silver hair of Daenerys. All of Valeria’s years of training in Dorne and Essos couldn’t have prepared her for this. Maybe that’s why she was chosen. Not only as a wife to the Targaryen Queen, but as a partner, but as a military battle strategist, trained warrior, fluent in High Valyrian. Approaching the Dragon Queen, her stone eyes locked with her violet ones. The ceremony took place on Dragonstone, and now they were alone. They had barely talked at all, it all happened so quickly. Sighing, she walked over to the table in the middle of the room where there was a hot pot of tea. 

“ Would...um- would you like some tea, Your Grace? ”

hc + valyrian!

OK SO I have a lot of thoughts on old valyrian.

in my personal canon, westerosi valyrian is quite formal. since it’s not commonly used as much as common tongue, it is a very formalized language that has lost a lot of it’s slang and nuances because it’s not a common tongue anymore! valyrian is used a lot like latin in the medieval age. it’s a religious language, as well as one that is used amongst the high born. when around servants, its not uncommon to hear noblewomen gossiping in high valyrian so that the servants, who are usually lowborn and haven’t been taught valyrian, cannot repeat it. 

it’s also used to keep an air of superiority over small folk, at least for royalty. think of how the bibles were printed in latin so that only the clergy could read them to common people, that’s valyrian except for anything to do with royalty. royal history books are printed in valyrian, official documents are printed in valyrian. this is primarily for when the targaryens were in power, but i feel like during robert’s reign he didn’t do much to change it since most nobles knew valyrian already.

When his mother told him she arranged a betrothal for him to Helaena with Queen Alicent, he wanted to say no. He wanted to protest. But, Jace knew better. He knew that his mother was the future queen and after her, he would be king. Jace knew the responsibilities that would eventually fall upon him, he was already being taught them. He paid attention, even when he wanted to be with Vermax or doing something else. Helaena was nice, despite her weird tendencies. Though, he was used to his twin’s own weird quirks, which he thinks makes her fun to be around, so he didn’t mind Helaena’s weirdness. She doesn’t get a choice in this either, so he isn’t angry at her. He isn’t really mad at his mother either. She did it to appease the queen, to mend a rift between the two of them.

He knows she likes insects, so he managed to track down a necklace with a butterfly on it with his mother’s help. Cause girls like jewelry right? He wanted to get her something to help her feel more comfortable with the arrangement. He finds her in the gardens, most likely searching for more bugs. He makes a mental note to look for a book on insects later. “Helaena, I got you something.” He says, as he holds up the necklace, the pendant glimmering in the sun. “I hope you like it.” A bright, excited smile is on the prince’s face as he waits for her to respond.

he stumbled backwards when the dragon landed in front of him, no sign of recognition on his face; only fear, the respons anyone who wasn't a dragonrider or handler would have. yet his dark eyes didn't leave the creature, but he did not move either; scared it would hurt him if he did.

Here's a hc I wanted to throw your way; Vhagar felt the pain of when Aemond lost his eye, and she lost it out on the cliffside. It was reported that Vhagar could be heard from inside the castle and her roar was thunderous. The dragon keepers were sent out to keep Vhagar away because the ancient girl made a bee-line for the castle.

ah, 'how did you find me' a question I get a lot, actually. I'm the North Pole Bear, I'm everywhere and anywhere, sneaking from fandom to fandom, finding as many fandoms in the rpc as I can to spread a little love. (ok I'm not everywhere and anywhere, the real secret is this: I use the recommended blog thing on the side of tumblr, search the tags for things like '<fandom> rp' '<character> rp' to find people's promos, and click through blogs to find their partners and promos they've reblogged. those are the most frequent tactics! sometimes I'll go on my own rp blogs and find partners of partners of partners. but I also spread that out so no one guesses who I am. sometimes people will send me messages with people they want me to send something nice to, those messages always include a note that a little reindeer sent me. all messages that don't mention a little reindeer are just sent by me finding people!)

Marriage, their marriage, that was what she had seen and she believed in it so fully, and he could tell that by the insistence in her manner. That smile though, that smile could warm the coldest winter within his heart, and he found himself smiling back, ever so slightly, in response. 

“Se sia ao biare?“ (and were you happy?) He asked, the Valyrian sounding as natural to him as it did to her. It was a loaded question, the answer potentially thrilling or devastating. Even though she was smiling and the answer seemed fairly clear, he needed to hear her say it to believe it.
