When his mother told him she arranged a betrothal for him to Helaena with Queen Alicent, he wanted to say no. He wanted to protest. But, Jace knew better. He knew that his mother was the future queen and after her, he would be king. Jace knew the responsibilities that would eventually fall upon him, he was already being taught them. He paid attention, even when he wanted to be with Vermax or doing something else. Helaena was nice, despite her weird tendencies. Though, he was used to his twin’s own weird quirks, which he thinks makes her fun to be around, so he didn’t mind Helaena’s weirdness. She doesn’t get a choice in this either, so he isn’t angry at her. He isn’t really mad at his mother either. She did it to appease the queen, to mend a rift between the two of them.

He knows she likes insects, so he managed to track down a necklace with a butterfly on it with his mother’s help. Cause girls like jewelry right? He wanted to get her something to help her feel more comfortable with the arrangement. He finds her in the gardens, most likely searching for more bugs. He makes a mental note to look for a book on insects later. “Helaena, I got you something.” He says, as he holds up the necklace, the pendant glimmering in the sun. “I hope you like it.” A bright, excited smile is on the prince’s face as he waits for her to respond.

he stumbled backwards when the dragon landed in front of him, no sign of recognition on his face; only fear, the respons anyone who wasn't a dragonrider or handler would have. yet his dark eyes didn't leave the creature, but he did not move either; scared it would hurt him if he did.

Here's a hc I wanted to throw your way; Vhagar felt the pain of when Aemond lost his eye, and she lost it out on the cliffside. It was reported that Vhagar could be heard from inside the castle and her roar was thunderous. The dragon keepers were sent out to keep Vhagar away because the ancient girl made a bee-line for the castle.

While she bares teeth and a tremendous roar shakes earth, he overstepped and she reacted accordingly. — Sheepstealer came to say hi!

Rarely would Vladimir ever deem his acts foolish, but in this instance? He would certainly blame his mundane curiosity for the situation he had found himself in. It was happenstance that he had discovered the dragon along the wilderness of Dragonstone, having been warned before of a wild dragon that roamed the area. Though, it would just be his luck that he stumbled upon such a large beast...and her gaggle of sheep it seemed.

The Targaryens, whom he held company with, did preach about the intelligence of their creatures.

He could not trick her.

“Easy. Easy. I’ve no intention to steal your lovely...sheep. I’ve no intentions to do anything at all. This was merely an accident.” Voice is calm, level as Vladimir slowly took a step back--hands raised to show he meant Sheepstealer no harm.

Viserion had taken to Tyrion well, so much so in fact that sometimes she imagined him to have taken care of her, not her own mother ( not after being locked away ) So when she believes him to be in danger, she announces herself with a thunderous roar and fire scorches the ground around him to put a barrier between them and Tyrion.

From the moment Tyrion first saw Viserion, he was infatuated with her. He had always loved dragons. ‘The dragons have their duty and their code, for they see the world of men as a tale of greed. Their job is to take away the false treasures in the hope that mankind will learn once again to treasure creation and one another.’ he used to say moons ago, not truly knowing that he would ever see a dragon - let alone touch one. The feeling of Viserion’s scales against the skin of his hands was not a feeling Tyrion would soon forget - 

No matter how often he saw them fly, arcing with outstretched wings, each as brilliant as stained glass, he held his breath for a moment, eyes wide. They were kites without strings, celebrations of freedom with each rhythmic beat. So, to have one scorch ground to make a barrier between him and his assailants - he didn’t know who they were, not a lot could be seen through the ring of fire separating them - he could only feel a tangent of happiness soaring through his veins.

He stilled when she growled, ready to withdraw if needed, but when she settled down a touch, he relaxed again, content enough on the ground now that they were close together. It didn't feel right to be separate, felt colder and more lonely and Caraxes didn't like that feeling, didn't want a reminder of those previous days of being ostracized. He pressed closer, scale on scale contact and begins to drift although one eye is kept lazily open to detect any dangers should they come. They would need to resolve the issue but that would be for another day, another time. For now, they would rest.

Caraxes whistled almost mournfully, as he edged closer to Syrax. She had been particularly moody recently and he was smart enough to know why and tried not to hold it against her but it was hard. He had intended to leave her be but as the night had rolled in and it had started to get colder, he had realised that curling up in an even tighter ball wasn't going to help him. It wasn't just the temperature, it was the absence of her that was causing him discomfort.

He came to rest beside her, stretching his neck out to drape over her back, a low rumble in his chest as his wings flared out, one of them resting against her, the other folding in tight against his own body.

Abby nosed a little along the crown of Jaehaera's blond head and opened up the book full of colorful illustrations. "Oh! I think this one is about the mermaid who saved a dragon... See?" The little princess was very interested in all the pretty illustrations in her book, and interjected some very nuanced observations on how all of this confusion could be cleared up so the mermaid and the dragon could live happily ever after.

"Why are you complaining about the past when I can just do that right now?" Rhaenyra doesn't want to speak about how she treated Alicent after the announcement Viserys was marrying her was made. "What was I supposed to do myself? Declare that I was in love with you? What then, Alicent? What did you expect me to do? I had just lost my mother too. I was already angry and that.....it just added more to my anger. Trust me, I wanted to tell you. I just....waited until it was too late."

defensive reaction creates a lump in her throat,   fighting to get out.   ‘i do not.’   though before it is spoken she realizes to say so would undermine her daughter’s feelings towards the matter.   there was a considerable distance between them,    one that the queen has tried to lessen over the years,  but it was as if she kept running into concrete walls that were guarding her daughter’s heart.  to say it was frustrating would be an understatement.  though the love she shared for the other would always convince her to keep trying.  “ i do not mean to.. “    she begins,   unsure of how to proceed without hurting helaena’s feelings even further.  the young dragon’s heart was a fragile thing,  or at least that is how her mother viewed it,  delicate and meant to be handled with the upmost care.  a sigh passes through parted lips. “ i am sorry.  i do not mean to cause you pain.   you are my dearest love,  and i should not treat you as anything less. “   

it was her children that filled the corridors of her heart.  no one could take their place.  not man,  nor woman,  no one.  alicent goes to reach out to touch her daughter’s hand but then remembers the times that helaena has pulled away and hands fall back to her sides.   “ you are right,   i am meant to protect you and i will.  i just do not..  understand..”   i do not understand you.   it is what she means to say,  though hesitates.  no child wants to hear that their mother found them to be a mystery.  “ it does not matter.. i promise i will do my job as your mother and make you feel loved.  you are loved fiercely. ”   she would have to do better.  be a better queen, a better mother.   she has given everything to everyone around her and it was still not nearly enough.   “  if you have something to say to me,   i shall listen with full attention.  please, do not give up on me. “

Serpents did not face down dragons. They were quick-witted and not so foolish as to disturb such large, dangerous beasts. Yet. Vladimir found himself facing down the snout of one of the beasts, scales glimmering in the evening sun. Perhaps it’s his mistake for taking a ride outside of King’s Landing, but even he knew that most of the dragons were meant to be tucked away into the Keep.

His gaze is unwavering, body still as he looked to the creature. A heartbeat passes before he speaks.

“I’m afraid whichever master you serve isn’t here.”
