Lips locked tightly, not a whimper or a cry escaping. Eyes screwed shut tightly, bandage-wound arms  ( stained red with fresh blood, seeping from the new scars made a short while ago )  held gingerly to her body. Snowy hair lies matted to her body in clumps; she’s curled into a half-ball on the mattress when the door creaks open.

Tense as a tight-strung wire. She sat up with the briefest rustle of bedsheets and found herself looking at a silhouette. Blink— once, twice— and her eyes adjust, revealing a boy of dual colors; the sharp contrast made her wonder for a moment, how vibrant the colors. She shaded her eyes and queried, softly, “Are you here to bring me to more experiments...?”
