[VIDEO] ZIPANG OPERA: ZIPANG OPERA's 2023 Live "Fuurinkazan" dated April 06, 2023

PERSONAL HIGHLIGHT

The live itself is still ongoing with the final performance happening today! But, this time, each member has a special day based on the concept of "風林火山" ("fuurinkazan") where each performance has a featured main member.

Day three of the live dated April 06, 2023 was "火" (fire), and the featured main member was Ryuji! The Ryuji-focused specials for this day included:

his solo taiko/drums performance

his performance of his solo song "Alter Ego"

And, man, *man* did he put on quite the performance. True to the meaning of fire, he put everything he had as a performer (both as an artist and an as an actor) on the line, and pushed himself to his absolute limit with a fierce explosiveness.

P/S: It's also been announced that, as of now, there will be no Blu-ray/DVD release, but the performance is currently still available online on archive for a limited time.

So basically after the events of GO all the God Eden coaches would be out of jobs, alongside a good majority of Fifth Sector coaches from other teams.

Without a job and in the twilight of his career as both a coach and player, he found it hard to get any jobs that stuck, especially with the negative reputation Fifth Sector now have after their backroom dealings were revealed after Hibiki shut down the organisation, most coaches in the pay of fifth sector who didn’t have good words put in for them by Gouenji (so basically just Afuro and Sakuma) wouldn’t be trusted by other schools to coach their teams, so they either retired or went on to different careers.

This was the same for Kibayama, who went into a slump, losing most of his good physique and turning into a shell of his former proud and garish self, having to sell most of his flashy suits just to get by.

One day ten years later he ran into his old coaching partner Gojou, and they both vented their frustrations to one another in a run down restaurant, until Gojou stopped him, and he told Kibayama about a plan he’d had in mind for a while, he showed Kibayama the FF results from the past 10 years, they showed that Raimon had won 7/10 frontiers tournaments they were involved in.

The lack of a coincidence was undeniable, Raimons strange tendency to come out on top no matter what was ahead of them was very much noticeable, and Gojou had known for the longest time, constantly begging the Holy Emperor to enroll some of the Raimon team members into God Edens training routines, which he’d of course deny, for reasons Gojou didn’t know at the time.

So Gojou presented the plan to Kibayama, they use the very same Raimon spirit which had crushed foes before, but teach them some of their own moves they created years before, like the FuuRinKaZan Destroyer

Of course they’d know the current coaches, Shindou and Tenma wouldn’t be so easily persuaded to leave Raimon, since they’d definitely recognise the two so Gojou presented another idea that his old mentor Kageyama had used in the past, involving falling logs.

The plan worked, Shindou and Tenma aren’t dead from this, just incapacitated for long enough that they won’t be able to resume coaching duties, so the two applied for the now open coaching position, using their now current status as nobodies to easily get in, as no one even recognised the two from years prior, their footballing resumes seemed amazing, I mean a former Teikoku defender and a veteran coach from out of nowhere? Raimon couldn’t be luckier!

The Raimon spirit was still there mind you, their playing style was just very different, more vicious and outlandish, shooting moves would score, but blast through the defenders and keepers, causing injury at worst.

midfielders would burst through the opposition at at a breakneck pace.

defenders would do anything for the ball.

the keeper would be an indestructible iron wall.

Yet somehow, they played in such a fashion that they wouldn’t foul, as if they’d been trained by coaches who were all too familiar with disguising their rough play as just normal tackles and dribbles.

This is the new age of Raimon, a Raimon which take every liberty they can, a Raimon which would make the former captains and players sick to the core to see what it had become, to the players though? This is just how their new coaches want them to play, winnings all that matters after all.

Ok so I have an idea for victory roads villains. like just hear me out:

The villain is a really old Kibayama Douzen and Gojou Masaru.

After Zero were beaten and Fifth Sector disbanded, they spent the time in-between GO and VR trying to figure out a way to reclaim their grasp on the football world, until they finally came to a conclusion, why not use the very team that have a habit of overcoming the odds, no matter how great.

Hell Gojou would know this first hand since he’d been watching Kidou from the shadows all through out the original trilogy, even after joining Raimon.

So Kibayama would change his identity (probably not to anything too subtle because this is IE we’re talking about, he’d become MOUNTUS BATTENPINK) to become the coaches for Raimon, ejecting Shindou from his coaching position (I imagine him or Tenma would take up the job similar to how Endou did in GO) and then they’d use their old Fifth Sector coaching methods to turn Raimon into elite footballing soldiers, which is why Endou Haru is treated like some kind of menace in the trailers.

I know they probably won’t bring back a 55 year old Kibayama as the villain, they’ll somehow find a way to make Kageyama the villain again, but I think this could work as an actual plot twist at the end, maybe as like an au or something but the idea of one of the Fifth Sector coaches trying to rise back into power is an interesting concept to me.

Izumi: I hadn’t expected this to be such a high-end restaurant… Is my outfit okay?

Yuzo: They let us in, so I don’t think there’s a problem. This is a private room, anyway. We won’t be bothering anyone.

Yuzo: More importantly, since he’s treating us, we might as well get some expensive alcohol.

Waitress: Your companion has arrived.

Kabuto: Sorry to keep you waiting.

Yuzo: Yo.

Izumi: Good evening.

Waitress: I’ll go put those orders in.

Kabuto: Yeah, thanks.

Yuzo: This kind of next level presentation’s exactly what you’d expect from a shop like this.

Izumi: It’s so pretty. It feels like such a waste to eat it…

Kabuto: Now, good to see you.

Yuzo: So, what’s the reason for all this lavish entertainment?

Kabuto: Settsu will play the lead with Hyodo as the co-lead for Hyakka’s next play, and I’ve written a script with the theme of “actors”.

Kabuto: But after watching the premiere footage of Picaresque, I’ve decided to change it to a double lead play.

Kabuto: I’ve read many magazine interviews, but I want to get to know the two of them further than what I can read.

Yuzo: Ohhh…?

Kabuto: In an interview with “Spotlight”, they named you two as people they respect and are grateful to.

Izumi: Ah, yes. They did.

Kabuto: I think Settsu could’ve mentioned my name too, though.

Yuzo: So you want to talk about them.

Kabuto: Yeah. I want you two to tell me your thoughts on Settsu and Hyodo. And about their formative experiences as actors, in particular.

Yuzo: You came to the right people. Juza’s also a semi-affiliated member of Fuurinkazan.

Izumi: No, he’s not. Please don’t recruit him without asking.

Yuzo: Well, the reason they’re grateful to us is probably because of those experiences.

Yuzo: Their “Portraits”.

Izumi: Those definitely count as a formative experience.

Kabuto: … You mean this?

Smartphone: “Ever since I was young, I could do everything better than most people, and I was praised for it.”

Smartphone: “At first, I just kept doing it because I liked my family’s praise.”

Yuzo: Yup, that’s Banri’s Portrait.

Yuzo: Juza performed his as the opening act for Fuurinkazan.

Kabuto: …

Kabuto: … What do you want in exchange?

Yuzo: A flyer about Fuurinkazan at Hyakka’s performance and a ticket to the opening day performance.

Yuzo: And one more thing. What’s the most expensive alcohol here?

Izumi: You’re really going to drink, Yuzo-san?

Kabuto: …*Sigh*. Fine. Let’s talk about their past and present as we drink.

Izumi: (A lot has happened… To Banri-kun, and Juza-kun, and all of the Autumn Troupe… This is going to be a long night.)

DESCRIPTION OF "GENEPRO★7"

A 7-member unit "Gekidan SEVEN" that is extremely popular amongst the young people. While heading into preparations for the much talked about stage play "Shakespeare Legends", with the addition of a new group member Yamai Keisuke (Miura Kairi), the group's charismatic leader Soga dies.

With the loss of Soga, something in the group starts crumbling: the members start blaming each other for their mistakes, they are disinterested in rehearsals and cracks form in their belief in each other. On top of that, they are told "a certain secret", which causes the wheel of fate to ruthlessly spin out of control.  

Is someone manipulating them? Is it some kind of trap set for the group? A creepy shadow haunts each and every one of them, ridiculing them and mocking them. There is an unstoppable sense of suspicion and impatience.
