Besties help, I can't find the right fur

Anybody got good fabric brands that make faux fur, so I can check them out?

I live in the middle of nowhere so online stores are preferable but if I drive like 2 hours out I can get somewhere that sells quality fabrics

also a word of warning, when I was trying to figure non spidey au cady's backstory and powers, I made a joke about cady being bitten by a radioactive lion and my friend went crazy for it so we ran with it. I know its absolutely wild, but I think I made it actually work so bear with me.

yes, cady was bitten by a radioactive lion so she has lion powers and shit; super strength/1000psi bite force, super agility/36 foot horizontal leap, yell real loud/roar, night vision, super senses, 46 mph top speed, claws because who doesn't love a woman with claws; these aren't really powers, but her head hair gets a lot more volume after the bite which is cool but on the downside the rest of her body hair starts getting kinda thick- its not super super thick, its just thicker than it was-, she needs more sleep, she has this need to consume a lot of raw meat and also hunt live animals

cady was bitten by the lion in Kenya before the move stateside, actually it was what prompted the move. I have this idea that the lion was some military experiment that her dad worked on and got killed while working on it(not by the lion, by one of his coworkers, im actually quite attached to the lion and the idea of the lion escaping capture and living a normal lion life). This is what prompts cady's mom to move them and cady to use her powers(once she discovers them) to help people like her father would've wanted and also get revenge on the people that killed him while she's at it.

janis and Damian find out about cady's powers because the school janitor dragged her, mouse in her mouth, to them and asked, "is she one of yours?" this is also two days after they meet so they were very close to saying no

when she starts out with the hero thing, she cuts holes in a bandana and wears some very basic clothes, but once janis finds out, she sets out to make cady a suit. janis even does research about body armor to make it protective. the suit itself is (once again, @tatsuyam , not a fursuit) more like a supersuit so its built for movement and fighting, but it has touches of janis' art and is inspired by Kenya and lions. in the way that it has ears and a tail. because her hero name is lioness. what with her powers being lion based and all. in the words of edna mode, "no capes."

Damian helps cady come up with all the snappy one liners a hero needs and also overcome anxiety that comes with saving the general populace and having to talk to them and having to act confident, he helps her come up with her persona, her act if you will

there's a rumor around the school that the person in the mascot suit is lioness but cady hates it because she refuses to go near that thing after janis told her nobody washes it and then regina told her about the time she and Shane fucked in that thing

I will get into regina once I figure out what powers she would have

Branding upgrade in all suits from now on 👌 branded fabric will replace all liners, cuffs, and tail backings so you know who made it! (Realistic heads will still have black liners over the bottom jaw padding as that is often visible behind the teeth)

Heads also come with a tag and all fursuit orders come with stickers. What do you think about an acrylic zipper pull? Would it be fun or too much? Or would it get in the way since usually you want to hide the zippers on heads? 🤔 Lemme know your thoughts

watching the episode of csi where cath and gil go onto the scene of a car accident with one of the vics being a guy in a raccoon themed fursuit on the side of the road. gil comments on the detail on the facemask and catherine is talking about how she dated a sports mascot during the off season (to explain how she knew where the eye holes in the head were). the one liners in this are absolutely amazing and i am in love with it

Got a question about the waist bags, I have no clue how to respond to reblogs on here so hopefully this works! I actually used math to figure out how big the bags would be and scaled it up to my hight. Honestly I've never made a bag in my life so I kinda just bs it but it seemed to work! (Bug liner is my lucas touch, it's my special intrest so I wanted to add them)

I have experience with making fursuits so I just used the same elastic technique as tails. Also please ignore how shitty the top of the sides are, I'll fix em I promise @ants-n-bees

Worked on SammyBear's body recently before a convention!

Deep soak and washed, all fresh and clean! New soft neck liner, pulled all faux fur from under zipper seams so it's all nice and fluffy! Fixed matted/damaged fur.

hi!! ive made suits before!! i may have some answers :3

1) for the base, upholstery foam / high density green foam is the most common material. it’s easy to carve and comfortable to wear. as for fabric, you can use fleece or minky! you’ll just want to be a little careful with carving so that everything looks smooth. the best mesh is buckram or vinyl mesh! if you’re worried about overheating you can make the eyes and the mouth real big for more ventilation.

2) yes! i’d reference kemono style eyes. they utilize glass domes that really make the eyes pop.

3) as mentioned earlier making the eyes and the mouth big really helps with ventilation! adding a lycra or scuba fabric liner inside the head helps a lot with keeping cool too.

4) you’d want to make a pattern for it! i’d look up some youtube tutorials and do a TON of research before starting!

5) yes! these are called moving jaws. 3-D printed or resin bases are best for this, but it is possible with foam!! again, look up tons of tutorials.

6) you can just use a regular wig! fursuit makers do this all the time.

Does anyone here know anything about making fursuits/mascot head? I'm planning for a cosplay of Liliana from My Friendly Neighborhood ( I've attached a photo of her below) and making her head to wear like a mascot/fursuit head but I've never done something like this before so any advice is appreciated. A few of my questions are:

1) What are the best types of material (foam, fabric ((that still gives the illusion of felt or fleece)), mesh, etc) to use so I don't overheat? I live in Australia and the con is in our spring.

2) is there anyway to give the eyes the illusion of pingpong balls that stick out of the head?

3) Where would be the best places to provide air circulation?

4) how would I make the neck?

5) would it be possible for me to make the mouth open and close without making it looking too weird?

6) what is the best way to make her hair?

An Adhesive Test for use on a fursuit’s head lining! 

I test 4 adhesives to discover what will work best to glue a lycra liner to upholstery foam to test it before use on a fursuit costume I am refurbishing! I apply the glue to each of the samples and perform a test wash. My results and thoughts on them each are shared in this video!
