my room smells kind of strange if it doesnt have enough airflow (e.g. leaving the window open), just kind of a stale smell. I don't usually leave my door open, and ive cleaned my room (took all the furntiture out when i was painting, i would have noticed if something was off) and nothings causing it. is this normal? how do i get my room to smell better?

Yes! This exactly! Growing up our house was "shoes off at the door" for us because we lived there. Friends over did not, we did not when over at a friend's.

But even if you live in a shoes on house NO ONE PUTS THEIR SHOES ON THE FURNTITURE! Dear lord, you'd get your head bitten off. I've been over at a friend's and taken off my shoes to sit on her bed.

There is this weird TV thing where the actors don't take their shoes off, this is mainly a safety thing. No one actually lives on the set, it's their workplace. You don't take your shoes off at work, that's just weird. So it's one of those things that American viewers are supposed to just intuit that we ignore. It's fake, it's not real. Just like hobbiest detectives or healthcare workers with free time.

Another part of that is that most Americans wear shoes that aren't easy to just slip on and off. Unless they're tied at a very specific tightness that allows shoes to be slipped on/off but also stay on when worn, there's this whole ordeal of untying and retying the shoelaces every time.

That said we do see in the comics that the Wayne family does wear their shoes inside. Damian almost definitely had some culture shock on seeing that when he first arrived. No one is wearing their shoes on the furniture or practice mats, but he definitely got the ick from seeing everyone just wipe their shoes on the welcome mat and then just walk on inside.

Do you think when Damian first arrived at Gotham and to the Wayne Manor, he got an ick because Americans wear shoes indoors? Imagine him automatically starting to take off his shoes, searching for slippers, and realising that everyone just... walk around in their boots... without a care in the world?

well I live in this dumping area. i found this oddly convenient shipping container. its weird because it had all this furntiture but no signs of anyone living in it for awhile.

For many years I have been collecting decorative objects painted with black lacquer, flowers, and inlaid with mother of pearl- It was a popular, flash-in-the-pan design fad from the 1850s-1860s. You mainly see daguerreotype and ambrotype cases, coin purses, sewing boxes, lap desks... A tilt-top table has long been on the wish list.
