The layout file is designed by CAD/CAM software, and the G-code command is generated by the computer, which is transmitted to the user friendly computer numerical control system, so as to control the machine to perform various operations. The CNC nesting machine drives the gantry to move through the stepper motor, cuts the panel through the tool in the high speed spindle. It is divided into single-process, double-process, three-process, and four-process based on the number of spindles, and is classified into single-table, double-table, and moving-table based on the different table structures. In addition, it can be customized and designed to meet the commercial woodworking plans.
It is mainly used to cut various wooden boards. In terms of processing functions, the cutting machine mainly includes cutting, punching, slotting and other processes. The CNC nesting machine is widely used in the furniture industry, such as cabinet doors, wardrobe doors, solid wood doors, paintless doors, solid wood composite doors, and suite doors.

Nick Newman helped design a modular construction system so anyone with just a mallet and a drill can build their own home. Since co-founding U-Build in 2020, he has built— and watched others build— furniture, garden sheds, tiny homes, and full-sized houses, so it makes sense he’d use the flat-pack box system to turn the company work van into his full-time home.

According to Newman, "the U-Build construction system is something like if IKEA and LEGO had a baby. So, it's these big boxes that can be assembled with a mallet and a screwdriver. Effectively, you start out with your individual panels, which are cut with precision using a CNC machine, and it's designed with this kind of locking system so you can basically put the pieces together: it would always be on the 'right' configuration." He started using the fully-electric Sprinter van as a temporary home while on overnight work trips. The U-Build system involves assembling CNC-cut, formaldehyde-free plywood boxes as building blocks which then bolt together to create a rigid frame for a structure.
The conversion cost him less than £2,000 (about $2,400, or €2,300). The system is entirely demountable, so the boxes can be reused over and over: it was easy for Newman to take the boxes he was working with daily and rearrange them in the van to build a bed, kitchen (U-Scrub), storage, and toilet (U-Poo).
Newman left a shared warehouse where he was paying £800 for a tiny, windowless bedroom for vanlife in central London, and because the van is electric, he doesn’t pay congestion charges (£15/day). He has tricked out the van to appear in drive mode so he can use the vehicle’s battery and air conditioning and heating while parked.
The U-Build (and Studio Bark) team recently bought an abandoned warehouse in Stroud (Gloucestershire) for less than the price of a tiny studio in London. While they decide what to do with the space, they have installed U-Build dwellings (built in a half day) to use as bedrooms and private offices. It’s the same model as the SHED Project, where they worked with a London-based guardian company to provide quick-build homes from U-Build kits to provide housing for those in need in exchange for building surveillance.

okay, so heres that tangent I warned about
so for the last like 10 years I have had this fantasy of winning the lottery and starting a business.....that first part is mostly the fantasy, because without that theres no way I could afford to do the latter
basically it comes down to new technology that allows automation for small guys like me, stuff like these

basically with 3D printing and affordable cnc and laser cutting machines, a guy like me could have the man power of like 10 people, and if I hired maybe 10 people total to assist, I could easily do something on par with much bigger companies.
my initial fantasy just involved making guitars, granted more advanced guitars then I think the market insists upon, because they are locked in the habit of what has proven sellable to MOST people. fender scale length, bolt on neck, 2 humbuckers, faux les paul look and feel. every company does it, no shame. just not my thing.
I've had this idea, which I've experimented with and talked about in the past, the guitar of the future. Ive done mockups etc like this

but as I've grown older, honestly what I think it should really be is a cheap reliable guitar with a few tricks up its sleeve. so I have reimagined it as basically this

telecasters are simple, and on a cnc machine if you made it as layers that were later glued together, you could make it very easily. the 4x2 headstock is better for straight string pull, and helps eliminate tuning instability. replacing the old school pickups with active style pickups like emg would make it more versatile, and then adding the b bender, along with string drops a g bender, and maybe even a strap actuated bender, the guitar could cover a lot more roles then a standard electric guitar. plus I honestly think benders are cool and more people need to play them, so making them as cheap and accessable as possible is a good idea
just a simple guitar, maybe of paulownia or plywood, cut as 2 or 3 sections and glued together, and then maybe even using a circuit board instead of wire to speed up production, its a great idea.
but I started looking into what else I could do with this hypothetical company that basically 3D prints things, and cncs plywood

I am a big fan of ebikes, mainly because I believe genuinely in the next 10 years they will begin to be a lot more common in most major cities, their prices will come down as there are more batteries in circulation for evs, and being able to make quick simple bikes like this to sell locally, it seems like a way to directy serve the market I want to live in.
I also looked into stereo equipment, as I am a big hifi guy, and I am a huge raspberry pi fan, so seeing stuff for hifi pi, again it would be a market i understand, and think shouldnt be so fuckin expensive

I also genuinely would love to make a cheap hammond organ clone
like sub $500, because when I was wanting to pickup the instrument it was very hard to get the $ together to do so, and I know if you could injection mold the keys, cnc the body print the circuit boards, and use an arduino or raspberry pi to run a soft synth hammond clone, you could easily hit that price point

I love basic designs and furniture has always been something that I enjoy looking at, modern furniture designs, stuff from the last 50s early 60s, its so timeless and the open source furniture movement just scratches that itch. it's simple, but stylish, its utilitarian but it doesnt look bland

1/16/25: More on Discontent
I've currently got a TheTopher video on the C8 Corvette E-ray playing in the background, and I can't help but think about how my youtube video consumption plays a role in my semi-constant discontentment with my life. I certainly ain't special, this is the bread and butter of American culture and capitalism: keep you lusting for more and more shit so you keep taking on debt and work to death. Capitalism has even stolen my dreams, since every night I go to bed imagining the perfect conspicuously consumptive lifestyle I might have if I won the lottery.
I've tried to write about this fantasy a few times, as it is a recurring and consistent one, but I never seem to finish the exercise. I'll try it again today though:
If I won the lottery for lets say $50 million, I'd buy this 4 car garage house in Broomfield with a walk out basement, currently on sale for $1.25 million. Slap a 9ft Diamond pool table in the basement, build a bar, stock it with fancy scotch and mezcal and whatnot. Order a Factory Five roadster kit, a car lift, all the tools I'd need to build it. I'd put a Ford Voodoo engine in it, have a high revving v8 roadster. Take some welding classes wherever, do all the work myself. Try making some custom headers.
I'd start woodworking, maybe build a shed and set up my workshop in there. Start making pool cues. Get a fancy CNC machine so I can do fancy inlays with fancy materials.
I'd get a Porsche Boxster GTS4.0, manual transmission, slap as much blue in that thang as they'll let me. Take it out on a cross-country road trip. Stay in fancy hotels, eat out wherever, live it up. Enjoy the stickshift convertible driving experience. Do the Bourbon Belt tour during the winter, drive further north once the weather warms up.
After a while, gotta come back home right? Gotta have some practicality. Get a Nissan GTR or something for the winter car, lift it and put it on snow tires. Fill my time with car projects, pool cue building, maybe get into amateur racing.
Would I be happy living like that? No shit I would, but for how long? "Money can't buy happiness" but $50 million would mean never worrying about money for the rest of my life, and allow me to pursue any and all hobbies I could possibly want to for a lifetime. I could get so good at pool, build beautiful and high quality pool cues. Learn to do all kinds of car and motorcycle stuff, build weird and wacky restomods and frankencars. Travel America, travel the world. Expand my woodworking and build all new furniture for my house. Hell, I could even teach others mechanic stuff, woodworking, pool.
Would it all eventually become meaningless? Mundane? Would I get bored? How quickly? I suppose I'd get bored of all of it within maybe 10 or 20 years. Travel to all the major destinations around the world, drive all the cars, eat all the food, taste all the whisky. Would I be able to make close friends without worrying about sycophancy? Would I construct an elaborate persona to prevent such a thing? Would I get lonely? Would I be able to find meaningful connection and companionship? I bet I could. I wish I could find out. Who wouldn't? And how am I supposed to be content with my real life with such fantasies plaguing my every bedtime?
In a sense, I live a double life, forgetting my dreams while pursuing the day and forgetting my waking life in chasing sleep.
