Rockabilly kidz: guitar wunderkind Charlie Sexton & the fab Fur Dixon deep in the heart of Austin, TX, 1983.
Charlie Sexton, an accomplished blues rock musician since he was old enough to hold a pick and Joe Ely's lead guitarist at twelve, was not older than 15 at the time and was still touring with his first band, the 'Little' Charlie & the Eager Beaver Boys, just a couple of years before he was signed by MCA and hyped all over the world with his breakthrough solo debut in 1985, his face splashing across the covers of teen magazines and on Ferris Bueller's bedroom, while Japan fans were even creating handmade Charlie Sexton dolls, complete with his trademark high cheekbones.
Fur Dixon was a 21-year-old wild rocknroll bass player on tour with her first band, the Whirlybirds, at the time and the mid-'80s marked a crossroads for her as well, since it was then that she joined the Cramps, becoming the their first ever bassist in any lineup of the band to appear live in concert with them, before fronting her own bands later on.

Born on this day: charismatic, multi-talented rock’n’roll musician and pink Mohawked psychobilly pin-up Fur Dixon (née Jennifer Dixon, 26 February 1960). Her stint as bassist in The Cramps during their A Date with Elvis tour was brief but memorable. I’ve never actually met Dixon, but years ago she performed at a Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender. At one point we were both standing around outside one of the Orleans Casino ballrooms, she looked over and smiled at me – and I swooned!

There's one of those band line up shirts floating around for The Cramps that says Ivy instead of Rorschach. And it bothered me, so I fixed it, then I kept fixing it.
