So I was just thinking about the whole Vidyadhara rebirth cycle and the Dan Heng/Dan Feng situation, and a thought occurred to me. One I can't recall anyone else pointing out amidst the discussion of how much Dan Heng should be responsible for Dan Fengs actions, if at all.

What right, if any, do other people have to decide whether someone still counts as the person they're viewing them as?

If that's a bit confusing, take this as an example. What right do people have to tell Dan Heng that he and Dan Feng are not actually difference people when he says they aren't? And how much right do they have to make decisions in relation to that? When does it cross into blatant and willful disrespect and ignorance of how the other person wishes to be seen?
