their asses are not keeping kosher
logically i know that not every six pointed star/hexagram is a magen david. and yet my brain's immediate thought upon seeing any character depicted with a 6 pointed star is "oh, they're jewish? neat, i didn't know that." no matter how little sense it makes in context.
#eliot posts#dunme#note: their asses not keeping kosher does not exclude the possiblity of them being jewish#bc not every jewish person keeps kosher plus most who do follow it would agree that it's better to break it than to starve#but it is nonetheless almost definitely not the author's intention to depict judaism with those stars#it was just ''generic magic circle'' and ''generic star shape'' lol#but nonetheless that is what my brain immediately jumped to lol#funny sidenote: like half of the reason i know the intricacies of kosher rules is bc i researched it to safely cook for my neighbors#bc they mentioned they didn't eat pork for religious reasons and i was too shy to ask if they were jewish or muslim at the time#so i studied up on both kosher AND halal rules and decided to follow all of them even the more strict/uncommon ones#instead of just simply *asking* their dietary restrictions#a level of neuroticism second only to ''man i hope i wasn't annoying them when i helped them lug their furniture up the stairs''#my family are technically mostly ashkenazim but nobody has practiced the faith in generations#the most exposure i got from family is when my big sister was a teen she got interested in judaism but never took any steps to convert#probably in a big part bc our evangelical parents sent her death glares any time she brought it up#i think nowadays she's agnostic?#random ramble there lol
