GLITCHCRAFT is a mature animated comedy series about gamers and gaming companies. Explores our hyped/ disappointed relationship with technology, like funny trailers that fail to deliver.
Through animated shorts and game spoofs, GlitchCraft mocks the worldwide gaming industry's greed and bloat. Moreover, these funny animation shorts (like funny Minecraft videos) show love for the artistry, the fans, and the hardworking gaming developers.
ELIKA is an Asian-American woman on the wrong side of her 30s. Her dream is to create awesome original video games. She experienced limited early success with "Kitty Candy Crack," a highly addictive mobile game. Elika is a new voice in gaming, an art form looking for fresh perspectives. She offers a unique and humorous outlook, injecting laughter into her video game parodies. She's flawed and human, not an impeccable "role model."
WACTIVISION (nothing like ACTIVISION - never even heard of 'em) is the nearly-ultimate behemoth of AAA gaming. They seek to annihilate all competitors - the corporate equivalent of winning a Victory Crown in Fortnite Battle Royale. They own all the top games, yet seem to have no idea why...
Wac takes pride in embodying the absolute worst practices of the industry, boastful in their contempt for fans, employees, and humanity as a whole (by coincidence, the company is 90% artificial intelligence). They're the masterminds behind the legendary "Devil's Plaything" franchise, which remains innovative and impactful, even in its 37th iteration.
GlitchCraft is animated and brought to life by best buds, united by their shared passion for games, comedy and cartoons. One is a storyboard artist for "The Simpsons" for close to 200 episodes.

Richard E. Grant Comes Clean About Most Hectic Film Experience: "An Absolute Nightmare"
Film star Richard E. Grant has gone on record with one of the toughest shoots he went through, saying it was an "absolute nightmare", even though he has starred alongside the likes of Brad Pitt and Scarlett Johansson. Notwithstanding his fantastically memorable work in film and television, Richard E. Grant recounts one film where it will be forever etched in his mind for all the wrong reasons. Reflecting on his phenomenal career, which dates back to Withnail and I in 1987, Richard confessed that one of his more notorious films, Hudson Hawk, proved to be a complete mess from start to finish. A Bruce Willis film it promised much, but the movie was box office disaster, and yet Grant remembers it as an incredibly difficult picture to make. Ross from hamilton on, Canada, CC BY 2.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0, via Wikimedia Commons Now, 37 years into the business, Richard plays a lead in The Franchise, that savage spoof of the chaos under the movie company's veneer. "It's a hilarious take on all the solemnity of superhero worldmunch," he says. The series is by Sam Mendes and directed by Armando Iannucci and stars a game cast led by Lolly Adefope, Himesh Patel, Billy Magnussen, and Daniel BrĂŒhl. He portrays Peter, an egotistical actor without one redeeming quality, whom he enjoyed playing, even if it meant to be disagreeable to almost everyone he was faced with. "I had to be mean to absolutely everybody," Grant said. "It felt isolating because it's such an ensemble. When you're so awful to everyone, it feels alienating." The actor added, reflecting on his character: "There's no mitigating qualities. He's an absolute arse." While The Franchise is a fiction, Grant has learned how things can spin out of control through his experiences working in the industry. Among his most notorious examples is the film Hudson Hawk, a movie to which he recalls having problems since the very beginning. "The most chaotic film I ever worked on was Hudson Hawk with Bruce Willis in 1990," he says, reminisiscing on the project released in 1992. "Everything that could possibly go wrong â with the script, the director, the stars â it did. And it was a massive box office bomb." Though he can now laugh at the situation, Grant admits that at the time, it was far from funny. "It's funny now, but at the time, it was a right old nightmare." Richard's career hasn't let up, and he has gone to accomplish some of the biggest projects of our time. He appeared in Saltburn, with Jacob Elordi playing Felix Catton, but Richard is Sir James Catton, the father. Provocative themes in the film elicit intense reactions, which Grant finds thrilling. "In a world where you can see anything on social media or download it at any minute, it's exciting to still be able to surprise people," he said, especially since the film explores sexual obsession so intensely. Another notable performance of Grant is in the role of Classic Loki in the show Loki, which stars Tom Hiddleston as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The older incarnation of the God of Mischief was just memorable to the viewers as depicted with his iconic green and yellow costume. The line in which he stated that his "glorious purpose" was his cue to unleash his powers made that scene a favorite of many. Grant quipped that one thing he was bummed out about getting to play Classic Loki was that he wasn't able to wear a muscle suit. "I thought I would, because the character has muscles and big shoulders," he said. "But they absolutely refused. I told them, 'I've got no muscles, born without any.'" In the end, he was allowed to wear a cape most of the time to cover up his lack of muscles, which provided some comfort. While such an established actor, Grant admitted to feeling nervous starting on every project. "There's always terror on the first day," he revealed. "I have an abiding paranoia that I'm going to be fired. It doesn't matter what age you are, that fear is always there." However, he believes this anxiety keeps him motivated to do his very best at every role. In addition, much more is in the pipeline for Grant including Richard Osman's adaptation of the Thursday Murder Club, Savage House* with Claire Foy, Nuremberg besides Russell Crowe and Rami Malek, and Death of a Unicorn, co-starring Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd. There are also rumors that Grant might be an excellent candidate for the reboot of Harry Potter. Some fans say he would be a perfect Albus Dumbledore. Although there have been no official offers, Richard said he would be open to the idea. "I've not been called," he said, "but I'd definitely be interested if they asked." As Grant continues to accept various and exotic roles, one thing becomes glaringly apparent: he's still one of the most diversified, intriguing performers of his generation, even if his background reveals a few "absolute nightmares." Mini-Review: Kakushigoto
Kakushi Goto is a weekly manga artist known for definitely-adult titles. Worried that will alienate or embarrass his daughter, heâs determined sheâll never find out and pretends to be a regular businessman in front of her. But as she grows up, this single dad struggles to keep his secret while giving Hime the best life possible.
Thanks to @feychannel for recommending this to me! I wouldnât have picked it up otherwise, because I assumed from the description that a lot of jokes would be sexual in nature.
But no, the joke of the series isnât that Kakushi makes his living drawing dick jokes, the joke is that heâs a bundle of overthinking anxiety bouncing between âmy daughter must never be embarrassedâ and âmy art is crapâ and âif I donât learn how to fry chicken my daughter will never enjoy lifeâ and âmy art will never meet my expectations.â
(Heâs very relatable if youâve ever done any art whatsoever.)
Thereâs a definite wink-wink jokey feeling in the multiple bits that deal with the manga industry and artists: whether itâs attempting to use pencil sketches as the finished product because inking always takes something away, asserting that All Manga Artists are degenerates, explaining âitâs an editorâs job to make sure creators donât get what they wantâ because creators given free reign will produce something with too-niche appeal, etc. Since the series was originally a manga, Iâm assuming that the creator was having a great time spoofing his own job.
(Or, as a review on Anime News Network put it: âThat's definitely the hook for the show. Come for the cute father-daughter bonding content, stay for [original creator] KĆji Kumeta roasting his own profession like he's tailgating.â)
(Luckily for those of us not in the know abut manga-as-industry, helpful voiceover explanations are built-in to explain the jokes, but in an intentional way that just adds to the humor.)
Kakushi essentially has two lives, and the series follows both: first, his professional life as a manga artist, run out of an apartment studio where he and his 4 assistants work; second, his home life with daughter Hime, an adorable and kindhearted--though somewhat airheaded--little girl whose father, as far as she knows, is a generic businessman who leaves the house in a suit and tie every day.Â
Kakushi is determined she have the best life, and that with the presumed death of her mother at some point in the past (we donât get details until the final episode, but itâs clear early on that the mother is out of the picture and has been for a while), he does his best to make sure Hime gets all the normal support and events expected, even though society is set up to assume a 2-parent heteronormative household, which sometimes throws a wrench in his plans--like when heâs not allowed to take a cooking class because too many men were signing up to hit on the instructors.
And yet, Hime continues to be a happy, healthy child, and Kakushi continues to draw manga while refraining from murdering his semi-useless editor.
Verdict
English dub? Yes, and the voice acting is excellent, particularly as needed to convey Kakushiâs wild games of connect-the-dots. My friend @feychannelâ watched the original Japanese, and said the English version did a great job matching the same tone.
Visuals: Pretty, clean lines
Worth watching? Heck yes. Itâs a recent show (2020, with the dubbed episodes being completed only a few months ago) and complete (with a good, wrapped-up ending) at 12 episodes. It was extremely worth watching, very funny, with enjoyable characters. For all of Kakushiâs specific anxieties and jumping-to-conclusions about how something might affect Hime, he was a fun, smart, snarky character. Kakushiâs not alone--a lot of other characters similarly jumped to conclusions in very fun, comic ways.
There are a lot of jokes in the series, and hats off to the translation and writing team that had to make them make sense in English. The series does a good job explaining things when needed, and I never felt the need to look something up for more clarity. (At the same time, after finishing the series it was fun to read the Wikipedia page that explains how many characterâs names are puns, something that just doesnât work in English.Â
For example, âKakushi Gotoâ is a double pun first on a word for secret (âkakushigotoâ) and working as an artist (âkakushi-gotoâ). His daughter Himeâs name is another word for secret (âhimegotoâ), assistant Ami Kakei is word for cross-hatching (âkakeiamiâ), etc. A subtitle does explain the Goto puns in the first episode, but I forgot about that until now. Not getting those puns did not in any way lessen my enjoyment, though, since I found the show hilarious without them.
Where to watch (USA, May 2021): Funimation (sub and dub), BR/DVD

Akita Neru: The Tale of the Fan-Made #1 Miku Hater
Akita Neru a.k.a. "Hater-Ass Miku" is a derivative of Hatsune Miku meaning she has no official voice actress or voice bank. Although Crypton considers her an official Miku derivative and has even featured her in Project Diva games she was originally a fan-made character.
Her origin comes from a widespread idea among fans in Japan back in 2007 that a faceless japanese ad agency in the mainstream music industry had created an "anti-Miku" campaign to stifle the rise of indie musicians who were producing Miku songs.
The rumors weren't completely unwarranted. A social media fire started after a strange string of media events starting with a japanese TV broadcast that had framed these musicians as "anime freaks with no stable work experience" followed by the removal of Miku's japanese wiki as well as Miku pictures being unsearachable on Google and Yahoo! in Japan for a period of time.
Neru was originally created to spoof internet users who denied the rumors of an anti-Miku campaign and were accused by fans of being "agents puppets". The character is often drawn with a yellow cellphone that one can easily assume is a reference to these supposed "puppets" who were used to divert suspicion of foul play with comments like "Got bored. Going to bed... You should too" and etc.
'Her name is a play on words: Akita (äșć) is taken from "éŁœăă" or "get bored" while Neru (ăă«) is from "ćŻă" or "go to bed".' - Vocaloid Wiki
Neru had her design finalized by illustrator Smith Hioka. A funny piece of info from the Vocaloid Wiki is that "A common fan description is that Neru is employed in a writing agency for a rate of 700 yen per hour". Pretty sad stuff lmao. 700 yen is a total of 6 dollars and 63 cents in USD. That's even less than minimum wage.
It seems as though the mainstream is a lot more welcoming to Miku these days (maybe not so much in the United States). What do you think? Do you think an ad agency could've been behind a brief anti-Miku campaign?

Oooo, 4, 5, and 14?
4. favourite dish specific for your country?
Am I supposed to choose between Raclette and Fondue? Nope, not making that choice.
Raclette is made with a mild creamy cheese, melted and served over potatoes, usually also with pickles and charcuterie (salami, dried meat, etc). A proper fondue is made with salty GruyĂšre and sharp Vacherin (some people use Emmenthal, as pictured above, but some people also have no taste ;-p) (I kid, itâs a variant from another region) melted with dry white wine and some kirsch. Traditionally youâll only be dipping slightly stale crusty bread in this mix, and itâs delicious.
We also make some pretty good pies and tarts, my favourite being a caramelised walnut pie:
Nobody asked this, but I have to talk about Riz Casimir, a dish that I hate. Itâs a colonialist bastardisation of curry, which consists of veal simmered in a cream âcurryâ sauce with barely any spice or flavour beyond turmeric and salt, made even more âexoticâ by adding bananas, raisins, pineapple and/or glacĂ© cherries to the sauce... itâs gross and itâs racist!
5. favourite song in your native language?
I like a lot of songs in French, but not from artists from my country afaik. Hereâs a song by an absolute weirdo of an obscure French artist, RoBERT, which is absolutely my weirdo jam.
youtube
14. do you enjoy your countryâs cinema and/or TV?
We donât have much of a film industry (and itâs mostly from the German-speaking part of the country), but our TV can be pretty good in terms of documentaries. I tend to find documentaries here quite reasonable and balanced, with less of a scandalous slant (and sometimes political bias) than what you see on some French channels. We also have quite a few very funny comedians, some of which came together recently to do a hilarious (but unfortunately hard to translate or explain) Game of Thrones spoof set in my country.

ANIMATION IN NIGERIA
Animation in Nigeria is no longer a mirage or a dream. It is a reality. A reality that has spurred the advancement of storytelling and it has proven to be one of the best and creative forms of impacting knowledge and ideas to its audiences. Why? Because with animation, virtually anything is possible.
Though Nigerian animation industry is comparatively small to the rest of the world, it is growing so exponential that the Federal government lauds its potential to facilitate economic growth and development.
Nigerian Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed stated this last year during the opening ceremony of the 4th French and Japanese Embassies Animated Film Festival at the Institut francais du Nigeria in Abuja.
He said, âIt is worthy to note that with the inclusion of Nigerian content in the animation film festival, it will create adequate employment and contribute to the growth and development of the nation economy."
Anyway, this is just to tell us how big a deal animation is in Nigeria coupled with the fact that Nigerians yearn to consume locally made animated content.
Away from the macro economics of animation (which isn't important right now), several animation studios have contributed to the growth and development of animation in Nigeria.
The following animation studios (2D and 3D) are listed in no particular order.
Ajebo toons
Ajebo Toons was founded by Egwuve Majomi Yugbovwre. She is a 2d animator and one of Nigeria's few female animators. Ajebo toons is one of the most popular animation studios in Nigeria, known for the viral and hilarious Aje and Kpako animated series. Aje and Kpako details the misadventure of two boys. It is funny, relatable and most importantly, it is Nigerian in all ramifications. Asides Aje and Kpako, Ajebo toons have begun releasing episodes of a new animated series, Bubu and Fawol.
2. Spoof Animation
Spoof Animation is one of Nigeria's leading 2d animation studio focused on telling compelling African stories through animations. Spoof Animation was founded in 2015 by Ayodele Elegba and have since remained a solid name in the animation industry.
Asides other short animation skits, Spoof animations have been credited for producing the rib cracking animated comedy, Area Daddy. In 2016, Area Daddy went on to win the first edition of Digital Lab Africaâs transmedia category. And it's pilot episode was screened at Annecy in 2017. One thing is certain however; Area Daddy will be gracing our screens real soon.
3. Magic Carpet Studios
Magic carpet studio is a 2d and 3d animation studio based in Lagos. Their vision "is to bring stories, ideas and dreams to life through bursting colours, exciting motion and spectacular visuals using emerging technologies". This is highly evident in their animation projects such as Meet the Igwes, the soon coming Passport of Mallam Ilia and many others.
Coupled with animations, Magic Carpet studio are also involved in illustrations and game development.
4. Anthill Studios
One of the biggest production studio for 3d animation in Nigeria. It was founded by Niyi Akinmolayan in 2008. Anthill studios has an impressive 3D animation portfolio which includes projects such as; Plaything, The Sim, Malika, Retrieve the Droid and Peak Milkâs Lola and Chuchu series. And coming in 2019 is their first full length animated film, Frogeck. No doubt when completed will be historic.
The studio also helped promote an animated Kickstarter campaign for Roye Okupeâs Malika. Animation on the successfully backed pilot would be completely handled by Anthill studio.
Asides animation, Anthill studios is also an indomitable force in film making industry.
5. Komotion Studio
Komotion studio also a 3d animation studio geared toward creating animation contents that promotes our slowly eroding culture. Soon, Komotion studio will be releasing a starstudded full length animation called The Dawn of Thunder, a story of Sango, the Yoruba god of thunder.
6. Freak the f**k out
Freak the F**k out, a horror animated series of skits was created by Kanso Ogbolu. It tells unfortunate stories of characters who end up getting murdered in the most brutal way. I could say it the first of it's kind since other animation studios tilt towards family and kids entertainment.
7. Orange Vfx Limited
Founded in May, 2010, Orange Visual Effects Limited is recognized as one of the leading 3D and Visual Effects content creator in Nigeria. Orange Vfx limited provides content solutions for clients who want to tell their stories and advertise their products.

Early in March this year, Smids Animation's Boxed Series was also screened at the Cape Town international Animation Festival.
9. High breed Animations

They have two company Mascot characters, Ojo and Ebuka and within a one and half year of startup they have been able to produce two episodes of animation short titled Ojo and Ebuka Series. And Currently they are working on their first short Film titled Felele featuring their two mascot characters.
10. Toonup Animations
Ridwan Shades Moshood highly talented illustrator and animator heads Toonup Animation. In 2018, Garbage Boy and Trash Can a production of Toonup Animation won Cartoon Network Africaâs Creative Lab Competition.

Toonup is known for their attractive animation style almost in semblance of cartoon network classics. Toonup animation is also credited for producing, In My Hood and Into the Odd.
11. Scroll Entertainment
Scroll Entertainment was established in 2015 by talented artist and animator Harry Dunkwu. Scroll Entertainment is an animation company that specializes in the creation of content such as 2D/3D illustrations, comics, movie storyboards, concept art, animations, cartoons and game development arts. Scroll Entertainment also conducts digital art & 2D animation trainings between.
12. Basement Animation
Basement animation is one of the fastest growing animation studios in Nigeria. They are focused on producing Kids, Teens & Family entertainment content.
In 2017, Basement Animation was listed among the Top 5 Nigerian Animation Studios in Discop Book . They Co-produced Lâarbre Ă Palimpseste a pilot episode which was selected to represent Africa and compete with other global counterparts at Animation du Monde 2018 Anncey.
Basement Animation next project Downtown Lagos, a 2D animation, will be released soon and it promises to be awesome.
Animation in Nigeria is going global as many animation studios are working very hard to show the world what they can do. As nascent a industry, the future of animation in Nigeria is bright. And hopefully in the end, Nigeria's Animations will stand toe to toe with the big names of the world.

AND THEN YOU THOUGHT EPSTEIN WAS BAD HEREâS A LIST OF THE PEDOPHILE POLITICIANS OF LATE AND THATâS JUST BEEN RELEASED IN THE NEXT WE HAVE HAD JUDGE CAVANAUGH RULES AGAINST GEORGE SOROS CONNECTING CONNECTED TO OPEN SOCIETY PREVENTING FOREIGN FUNDING WHEN NO POLICIES IN PLACE OPPOSING PROSTITUTION AND SEX TRAFFICKING THIS IS REALLY CRITICAL THAT HE STOOD UP AND THIS IS FOR THE FIRST AMENDMENT AND THE DEFTLY HERE IN AMERICA SO IN THE AND JANA JENSEN SAYS JEFFREY EPSTEIN IS AN AMATEUR AND WHEN IT COMES TO CHILDREN AND IN THE PARTIES THAT ACTUALLY GO ON THERE IN HOLLYWOOD SO SHE REVEALS MORE MORE ABOUT HUNTING THEY ACTUALLY CALL IT HUNTING GAMES TO GO ON WITH CHILDREN AT THESE PARTIES SEE SECTIONS WE FOUND THEM OBVIOUSLY THE BIGGEST IT IS FOR. You know interaction ever had because you couldnât speak at all thank you everybody else took offense to everyone who came as something they would take a look at say anything back so they would just interested is a friend of my body get out there the antibody is in a hospital make their case advantage of them in any way you possibly can move on to our first story here todayand is according to the high reporter scares me that actually deadline high reporter broke a story about a lot of yesterday deadline is not about the new villainand wonder woman to is none other than Sheena played by Kristen Wade apparently paycheckand has had her eye on wake for a while now to play this roleand it looks to be confirmed so that she is going to be going up against wonder woman in the sequel to this massive wonder woman they came out last year the new movie comes on November 1 2000 19th J Washington in any way on the panel knows a little something about Sheena is get a VU what does this mean for wonder woman to you no more you know what for first was one of one womanâs biggest adversaries which is cool use granted they didnât do in the first movie you burned her out from World War Iand had going forward for two Christian week is interesting casting choice as we been seeing a lot lately with comedic actorsand actresses black I said this on twitter if we can get great Elizabeth Banks is repulsing granted the movie the powerand the heart of the story the cake they did on Rita was nice the way she looked at the different look the vision of a Christian week plan is now will she be as serious or comedic is the question you know now also the story of cheetah is a British archaeologist who goes in Africa they had an opportunity to make this potentially a black British woman thereâs a lot of things you do great donât have to change the cultureand the nationality of the character but you done about bunch of things Christian week is a good choice I believe black will have to see you know when you quit yesterday about the rhetoric also compares it was an interesting one at a very early going on to policy your readerand are in the phase where you will reader processing the I actually like our industry in a limitedand I know the old school reader pulseand everybody was hoping to see in Greenwich have to change things sometimes so using the way they get Elizabeth with this one the Krispy Kreme things a little too much I limit like the look is what I was talking about we can expect her to look as bad as she didand who is a Christian we can look like an incredibly soft terrifyingand look like everything that nightmares are because I know that person that scale afterand I had decided not to go sleep that night like this character sheet in general it is likely because of the complaint getting a lot of Power Rangersand about Elizabeth is reader repulsive she was doing her job if your job was to be in the 90s show Power Rangers seem to fit in with the time when the new movie was trying to do so howâs the character like cheetah who from the fanart for whatever is you are looking to come up with seems a little more outlandish than what we got in wonder woman the first movie I was I get a job with the town because this is the first outlandish character to get thatâs a human who transformsand something else with justice league you halfstep more thatâs in our worldly creature is in itself with complementingand get everything thatâs naturally in Atlanta so we understand that this is gonna be something new to see the DCU you know that to be the interest of our behind again we dealt with psychological sale a question when dating Ghostbustersand other films but this has to be something different will have a comedic element potentially Casio serious will see Harry immediately relocatedand seeing like comedians turn into the deep illness rolesand I rooted for everyone in the marketing point of vampire only those crazy if I were to do a rather like the movie didnât work as well rises to be in one hour photo resigning like this could work out I think it did think Connex can test it to a darker side of their personality getting Kristen Wade is going to be able to do you I have made during especially the just need your initial impression is lie regarding the morning moreand more I read the other where twins are rolling over sheâs going to be a good work can know that she is a good idea if Peterson is really talking on the show where itâs like you feel about one wayand in the next week you feel the same exact way did you get this newsand then have an initial reactionand has that changed all sense you heard about this yesterday plates at the words were not including the reference got into because I first heard the confidenceand Christian way to be able to take her time fender from the community of economic theory generally by tradition works much better than tomato doctors trying to go however my question really affect the talent of what wonder woman he was going to be because if they are bringing Christian right are they planning to make it more the sort of lighthearted comedic type of film compared to the first one where there very negligible humor so much of the few moments of levity but itâs not going the route of life like they do in the NICU movie maxed out when they are trying to may be asking rather than actually having Kristen be super hard core cannot write most of the last few got from wonder woman were were very genuine think the reason for that is because she was allegedly try to find her way in the manâs world so to speak because she went out of her boss Dennis Garethand her interactions the chemistry Chris finds where we got most of the yacht if you will get a movie like Ghostbusters obviously thatâs more spoof the then I think you get to see if you wanted so hereâs the big question you are left to get over to the panel as a fan person wayand that they can be won over to her performance the one I wanted is under just a little bit of pressure yet again because the first time a woman came outand had to rescue us from this dark gray toneand it succeededand then you have justice leagueand now very divisive movie again so whatever man does with my CAN have a more serious darker tone seems once again is directing it what do we need wonder woman to have in order to make Kristen Wade fit into this balance because as we saw with justice league trying to shift the entire town of DC name from Zach Siders darker version to Joss Wheatonâs line or humorous version the China ship Nike seven Apple man James one says dark black James wants a what you expect I think itâs the balance youâre gonna have a humorist element with one woman like you said in the first you have those humorous moments when you tap into that a little more Diana plays around that we seem that she jokes moreand now sheâs more accurate to the world again if this present day is his will to but it doesnât matter I think I will have a lot more humorand Patty Jenkins also ceased exercising more than anything else so thatâs what I would single phase it is Kathy Parsley I can send out the rest of the DCU yelled at everyone with your director changes with your your hiringsand firings of executives with your cash comingand going like the movie I want to make I guess Kristen Wade is a cheetah going to do it I can do I want right now how skinny my confidenceand she sort of envisioned Christian right brain itselfand the one she essentially is writing the role for Christianand the only present quite depressing right was Christianand I think that will be sort of tailored to Christian relaxing make this work a lot more holisticallyand cohesively been made in micro barring a comedic actress integral where really wasnât for you

She experienced limited early success with "Kitty Candy Crack," an addictive mobile game.

The Best New TV Shows of 2017
Godless
Hereâs my list of the 10 best new shows to premiere in 2017. It was easy to come up with a very wide-ranging selection, from a gaudy look at pro wrestling to a traditional network sitcom. If it seems as though there are a lot of Netflix entries, well, Netflix is really churning out the product, and some of it is very good.
American Vandal (Netflix) At first it seemed like a one-joke show: Someone vandalized a number of cars in a high school parking lot; whodunnit? Early on, we think we knowâa nitwit who likes to draw an obscenity thatâs sorta his calling-card. But what starts out as a spoof of true-crime TV shows and podcasts quickly became a funny but also sharp and finely-detailed look at high-school life.
Big Mouth
Big Mouth (Netflix) A very funny cartoon about seventh-grade wiseguys Nick (Nick Kroll) and Andrew (John Mulaney), Big Mouth is brash and vulgar, but it has good jokes, a good heart, and gratifyingly vivid female charactersâJessi Kleinâs Jessi and Jenny Slateâs Missy foremost among them.
The Deuce (HBO) David Simon and George Pelecanosâs deep dive into the Times Square porn industry in the 1970s was a tough challenge for a lot of viewers, some of whom found the subject matter too icky and inherently sexist. But as the year went on, it seemed that more and more people were actually giving the show a chance, and were able to appreciate the fine performances by Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Franco, and the excellent writing and direction.
GLOW
GLOW (Netflix) I rolled my eyes when I heard Communityâs Alison Brie was setting herself up as a pro wrestler from the 1980s. Shame on me: Brie and her collaboratorsâco-creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch; co-star Betty Gilpinâmanaged to make the campy spectacle of TVâs âGorgeous Ladies of Wrestlingâ the site of a complex sisterhood.
Godless (Netflix) This Western from writer-director Scott Frank has a premise that sounds like a gimmickâan Old West mining town run by womenâbut that just skims the surface of what goes on here. Featuring a hard-bitten star-turn by Merritt Wever as a deadly shot, with Jeff Daniels as a delightfully sadistic villain, Godless is no revisionist Western: itâs just the real thing.
A Handmaidâs Tale (Hulu) As 2017 wore on, this adaptation of Margaret Atwoodâs novel about oppressed women finding ways to take back their power came to seem less and less like a mere allegory. More uneven than any of the other shows on this list, the series started out very strong, wobbled with a few loosely-focused episodes, and then cranked up the tension again, leaving me interested in a new season.
Mike Judgeâs Tales from the Tour Bus (Cinemax) You donât have to be a country-music fan to enjoy these raucous profiles of country hellions such as George Jones and Johnny Paycheck. In fact, Mike Judge (Office Space, King of the Hill) kinda assumes youâre not: He lays out all the biographical details with clarity and hilarity.
Mindhunter
Mindhunter (Netflix) The early days of serial-killer profiling were made vividly unpleasant in this moody production from creator-writer Joe Penhall and director David Fincher. It stars Jonathan Groff as a blank-slate FBI rookie, and it was robbed of the Golden Globe nomination that should have gone to Cameron Britton as the languidly eloquent killer Edmund Kemper.
Mr. Mercedes (Audience) The best Stephen King TV adaptation of 2017 was actually a tie: yes, Netflixâs Geraldâs Game, starring Carla Gugino, was terrific, but so was this 10-episode rendering of Kingâs thriller about a psychotic mamaâs boy. Brendan Gleeson was excellently ornery as retired cop Bill Hodges, and the series has two more books in Kingâs Hodges trilogy to turn into more good TV.
Young Sheldon
Young Sheldon (CBS) The only network show on this list is a conventional sitcom, a spin-off from The Big Bang Theory. But itâs an uncommonly well-acted and cleverly conceived network sitcom, with the casting coup of the year: Iain Armitageâs performance as a nine-year-old Sheldon Cooper is exceptional. You believe that this fastidious child grew up to be Jim Parsons (who narrates the show), andâeven betterâyou believe this kid is super-intelligent and hyper-articulate. Letâs hear it for a show that prizes book-reading and good grades.

How American Vandal Perfected Season 2's Lovable Outcast, Kevin McClain
By Scott Patrick Green/Netflix.
This post contains spoilers for American Vandal Season 2 in all its poop-smeared glory.
Itâs not often that an audition comes down to how an actor obnoxiously pronounces âhorchata.â But thatâs what landed Travis Tope the lead role in American Vandal Season 2.
In its first season, Netflixâs Making a Murderer spoof focused on a lovable dummy named Dylan Maxwell who had been accused of spray-painting phalluses on 27 cars in his schoolâs faculty parking lot. This season takes place in a new school, with a new crime and a new set of suspectsâall kicked off when someone spikes the cafeteriaâs lemonade with a laxative.
At first, the primary âTurd Burglarâ suspect is flat-cap-wearing, tea-swilling oddball Kevin McClainâand though creators and executive producers Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda saw plenty of great actors read for the role, they knew shortly after meeting Tope that they had found their weirdo. He impressed the pair with his ability to think on his feet and keep other actors on edge, as well as the vulnerability he brought to the role. And then there was the careful, delicate way he talked about a certain beverage. âWhen [Tope] came in the audition and said âhorchataâ the way he did, I was like, âYep, weâre watching Kevin right now,ââ said Yacenda.
âI feel like Kevinâs level of affectation in his voice comes in and out,â Tope himself said. âBut he definitely thinks he knows something about horchata, so I feel like he wants to make sure that people know that.â
Mannered, aloof Kevin is a beautifully rounded character, someone recognizable to anybody whoâs ever spent time in a high school. As Perrault put it, âHe chose to create a personality that made it look like he decided not to fit in, like that was his choice.â Heâs well-intentioned, but prickly. He obscures his insecurities with affecting quirksâlike a discerning taste for fancy tea, which he explores on his own vlog. He has some opinions about organized religion. And even though he constantly insists that he doesnât care if heâs the odd one out, he does wish that more people understood him.
Most of us, wagered Perrault, either knew a Kevin or were Kevins ourselves. Before they settled on tea, they thought his hobby would be collecting pocket watches. No matter what his schtick was, they knew it had to be intentionally weirdââlike, somebody whoâs really into foreign medals, or some collection where theyâre advertising how unique they are,â Yacenda said. Another particularly heart-wrenching detail was culled from personal experience: like Kevin, Perrault had a big birthday party in fifth grade, but much fewer people showed up the next year. âMiddle school happened,â Perrault said, âand, you know, [my] social life came crashing down.â
Added Tope, âI was really excited to play him just because heâs so fucking weird and layeredâ[and] complicated. Heâs fucking weird and funny and dark. . . . Heâs always putting on a front as a defense mechanism.â
Like his character, Topeâwho is 26 years old nowâstruggled to relate to his peers in high school. âPeople used to really not get me, and I would end up inadvertently offending people a lot,â Tope said. âAnd I couldnât understand why. And then I realized itâs just because Iâm super weird, and I just didnât realize how weird I was being. And so, Iâm still that weird deep down, but I have learned how to translate my inner truth into something that humans can understand and respond to in English.â
Topeâs connection to his character helped him improvise some of the seasonâs best momentsâas when Perrault asked him to do âsome bullshit yogaâ on the schoolâs front lawn. The instructions, he said, ended there. âI didnât want it to look like he knew what he was doing, and he definitely didnât,â Perrault said. âAnd so he was great at just kind of faking his way through some yoga choreography as background actors gawked at him.â
Tope, too, had fond memories of acting on the fly, particularly in his Fruit Ninja bitsâa.k.a. when classmates throw fruit at Kevin, which he bats away. âI did not know until after shooting that Fruit Ninja was, like, an iPhone game,â Tope said. âI think no one told me because people just assumed that I would know, because I think it was a big thing. But I was not aware.â
Those moments required less choreography than the seasonâs biggest set piece: the pandemoniac scene in which an entire cafeteriaâs worth of students suddenly begin to defecate uncontrollably. Unable to stop the flood, they squat wherever they can find a receptacle: in garbage cans, on lunch trays, and during mad dashes to the bathroom. âIt was kind of like the scenes in the movies where people have to maneuver around the laser-beam security,â Tope said. âBecause there were just piles of poop everywhere. So you had to be very careful to not slip and fall and kill yourself, and suffocate while unconscious with your face in a pile of fake shit.â
Yes, this season of American Vandal has no shortage of gross-out humor; thereâs also a poop-filled piñata and an unfortunate incident involving an Advent calendar. But itâs also a thoughtful examination of the high-school experience, founded on fully realized, three-dimensional characters, all of whom are struggling in ways that are both different and, ultimately, the same. Season 1 had an understated pensive streak, but Season 2 puts a finer point on its thesis: that social media allows high-schoolers to manipulate their facades like never before, for better and, often, for worse. In the end, the show sensitively points out how even those at the top of the high-school food chain can feel desperately alone, yearning to connect with someone who really understands themâjust like Kevin.
Tope agreed that everyoneâs got a bit of Kevin in themââmore than people would like to admit. I mean, I feel like nowadays itâs cool to be weird, and a dork, and whatever. But itâs not cool to be vulnerable, and be insecure, and scared, and care what people think. And everybody still does. . . . Maybe itâs going to make people feel a little less alone.â

Experience Capitalist General Discussions.
Exactly what are your ideas on idling video games such as Realm Mill, Tap Titans or AdVenture Capitalist? In Part I of this three-part series, we took a look at a few of the standard mathematics behind rapid-growth idle video adventure capitalist cheats games, mainly at the relationships between polynomial and exponential growth and some approaches of monitoring and changing the balance of the numerous generators with time. Within the context of Nearing's socialist economics courses, the lessons gleaned from playing Property manager's under both rule sets (i.e., being eviscerated in the previous before roundly delighting in the social advantages of the latter) were probably adventure capitalist hack self-evident; but, more significantly to the history of parlor game, the engaging way they were taught sparked a word-of-mouth wildfire of university-level interest that soon spread throughout the Northeast. https://adventurecapitalistcheat.com is a puzzle video game, like the addicting however basic Cookie Cutter. In addition to challenging gender politics, Magie chose to handle the capitalist system of home ownership - this time not through a publicity stunt however adventure capitalist cheats in the form of a board game. Experience Capitalist a contractor video game from games developers HyperHippo and Kongregate, was initially constructed for the web and released as a mobile variation in May 2015. Much to Lizzie's discouragement, the other 2 video games that she created for Parker Brothers, King's Men and Deal Day, got little promotion and faded into board-game obscurity. It just shows the capacity of video games to use a mobile and how much better mobile video Adventure Capitalist hack games are performing in business. Is a good technique video game that, with an easy gameplay and a funny principle, provides an addicting experience, all while making you seem like a genuine capitalist. Mobile is a mass market and we think that games with broad appeal are best suited for the medium. Clicker Heroes utilizes 1.07 as the increase multiplier for all 35 of its upgradable heroes, and all the various structures of Cookie Clicker use a worth of 1.15. Remarkably, the 10 services of AdVenture Capitalist all use adventure capitalist hack a different multiplier, however each is in between 1.07 and 1.15. The typical look of the very same Multipliers across different video games suggests that the curves produced in between those bounds are balanced and satisfying.

Thereâs a growing push to have celebrities who have ever made dark jokes about pedophilia face major consequences for their past humor. Since Disneyâs firing of Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn over tweets Gunn wrote several years ago, the right-wing internet mob that brought about his dismissal has moved on to other figures.
Most notably, Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon deleted his Twitter account entirely after Daryl, a short parody pilot he made almost a decade ago, was seized upon as further evidence of many people in the entertainment industry using comedy to mask their underground support of pedophilia.
Harmon made Daryl in 2009 as a pilot for Channel 101, an âuntelevised TV networkâ he co-founded with his former writing partner Rob Schrab in 2002. The ânetworkâ takes the form of a monthly screening event in Los Angeles where five-minute TV pilots are shown to a live audience, and viewers vote on whether they want to see more episodes at the next monthâs event.
The shows that are âpicked upâ produce additional episodes, as you can see by observing one of Channel 101âs longer-running titles, Harmonâs own Laser Fart. The projectâs programming typically skews toward comedy â and often dark comedy â but isnât always comedic in nature.
Which brings us back to Daryl. Harmon removed the pilot from the Channel 101 website a long time ago, perhaps realizing it wasnât his finest hour, but you can still see the page for it. Itâs a spoof of TV shows about vigilante justice, most notably Dexter, the Showtime series about a serial killer who kills serial killers that ran from 2006 to 2013 and was at the height of its popularity in 2009, when Daryl was made. Where Dexterâs title character killed killers, Darylâs raped children to prevent them from becoming murderers.
Itâs not really funny (Harmon â whoâs stated before that he disliked these sorts of âmurder reconfigured as entertainmentâ shows â would later parody them in more fruitful fashion in an episode of his 2009-2015 sitcom Community). But regardless of whether you think Daryl (which you can still watch on the surely reputable site âBitChuteâ) is brilliantly hilarious or stomach-churning and horrifying, itâs hard to imagine interpreting it as being in support of horrific sexual abuse of children.
Yet this is exactly the argument being advanced against Daryl in 2018. against Gunnâs tweets, against comments from so many other comedians with long, successful careers. (A tweet currently being used to pillory Patton Oswalt is one the comedian deliberately constructed to seem as if he was supportive of pedophiles, but only if taken completely out of context, which makes the head spin.) Itâs a bad-faith argument, spun up by people who manipulate other peopleâs words and conjure some of the darkest behaviors humans are capable of to score cheap political points against those who criticize Donald Trump.
Perhaps the most ironic thing about it is that you can draw a direct line between the shock humor culture that produced Daryl and other edgy jokes, and the rise of the alt-right itself. But letâs start somewhere else: How did this strategy of trying to take down celebrities by weaponizing jokes they made a very long time ago come to be?
What has happened to Gunn, Harmon, and other public figures of late reflects a convergence of old-school trolling and organized attacks. The right-wing folks going after them are working from a scattered set of ambivalent and contradictory goals and motivations â but theyâre using highly organized, systematic, and well-oiled tactics to carry out their disruptive work.
Itâs crucial to understand that for many of the people involved in the quest to âtake downâ and delegitimize public figures like Gunn and Harmon, the whole endeavor is a giant joke. Thatâs because thereâs rarely a singular motivation behind any given right-wing crusade, including this one, and why people seem to be angry isnât the point. The point is to manufacture outrage, both to score victory points against the opposition and to sweep other bystanders into the fray.
This approach is essentially built atop a foundation of old-school trolling â the kind that originated in the forums of Something Awful in the early 2000s, spread to 4chan users, and ultimately made the leap, mainly through the Gamergate movement, to modern social media platforms.
Old-school trolling is absurdist artifice at heart, but it also covers a broad spectrum of sincerity and irony. The result is that no matter the topic at hand, some members of the modern internet mob will be arguing seriously and straightforwardly because they believe the argument.
Some will be making the argument as a total joke, because they think the argument itself is funny.
Some will be making the argument ironically, such that their performative outrage becomes the joke, regardless of what the actual argument is.
Some will say they are making the argument ironically, even though they secretly or not-so-secretly believe the argument is true.
And some will start out making the argument ironically, only to eventually start to believe it.
Whatâs more, many of the people making the argument for any of the reasons listed above also sincerely want other people to take them seriously â either so those people will join in the outrage ironically, thus contributing to the lulz, or so theyâll join in the outrage sincerely, thus creating the appearance that this socially constructed performance is authentic. In both cases, the result is that very real messages begin to spread with or without the âironyâ still attached. This can lead to extreme harassment of whoeverâs being targeted, often with serious, harmful, and even deadly consequences.
The most famous example of a modern post-trolling internet mob is probably the Gamergate movement, as its âsuccessâ gave many on the extreme right a template for how to attack their perceived enemies. Gamergate began in 2014 as a backlash against feminist game developer Zoe Quinn and a Kotaku journalist with whom she had a personal relationship. It then evolved into a widespread movement aimed at targeting feminist gamers and progressive gaming journalism at large.
Members of Gamergate worked under the guise of restoring âethics in journalismâ â but really, they used that so-called mission as an excuse to intensely harass individual feminists and journalists. They also used it to appeal to companies that advertised on websites that wrote critically about their behavior, in occasionally successful attempts to get the advertisers to withdraw their financial support.
The spark that lit the powder keg of Gamergate involved a blog post written by Quinnâs ex-boyfriend â and it deployed a tactic that would ultimately become a standard form of trolling used by the alt-right. He basically publicized a litany of private details about their lives in an attempt to paint Quinn as a manipulative abuser, citing âevidenceâ culled from private chats, texts, and emails. Context was stripped away from the exchanges, twisting their meaning to build a specific narrative around Quinn.
This shaming of Quinn was soon labeled âGamergate,â and rapidly coalesced into a much bigger movement that started among the gamers who initially rallied around Quinnâs ex. They used the private details shared in his blog post as an excuse to harass Quinn, her supporters, and the aforementioned Kotaku writer â because simply being connected to Quinn, in the eyes of Gamergate, made the writer an unethical journalist whose bias toward Quinn and feminists like her was indicative of the broader corruption of games journalism at large.
The actual content of the so-called âdamning evidenceâ against Quinn didnât matter; what mattered was that it gave the mob a reason to harass her. They saw her as a âsocial justice warriorâ who advocated for progressive politics, feminism, and diversity in gaming; by crying corruption and trying to ruin her career, their intent was to stop what they perceived as a threat to game culture.
The methods deployed in this ground-zero Gamergate event have since become standard practice for internet mobs wishing to attack seemingly anyone they believe to be a foe. We saw then with Quinn, as weâre seeing with Gunn and Harmon and other figures now, that the larger context of whatever âincendiaryâ material is on offer â be it a private text message or an old tweet â has been stripped away. And in the minds of the mob, itâs irrelevant anyway, because the outrage is performative rather than sincere.
Essentially, Gamergate systematized a form of online harassment that involved close-reading ancient chats and private messages, as well as public content and social media activity, in search of anything that could be used as fodder for righteous indignation.
Since 2014, this âmanufactured outrageâ approach has led to the firing of multiple game developers and staffers at game companies (with the latest example happening just a few weeks ago). Itâs simultaneously diabolical and simple: Greatly exaggerate your enemiesâ behavior while removing, distorting, or ignoring the context surrounding it.
And thereâs an ironic twist to the way this tactic is being used today against the alt-rightâs chosen enemies. The thing the group is now being performatively outraged about â shock humor â is arguably the foundation of its entire culture.
In 2017, as the Comedy Central series South Park turned 20 years old, writer Sean OâNeal pondered whether the show had inadvertently created a generation of trolls. Wrote OâNeal at the A.V. Club:
To these acolytes, Parker and Stone have spent two decades preaching a philosophy of pragmatic self-reliance, a distrust of elitism, in all its compartmentalized forms, and a virulent dislike of anything that smacks of dogma, be it organized religion, the way society polices itself, or whatever George Clooney is on his high horse about. Theirs can be a tricky ideology to pin down: âI hate conservatives, but I really fucking hate liberals,â Stone said once, a quote that has reverberated across the scores of articles, books, and message-board forums spent trying to parse the duoâs politics, arguing over which side can rightfully claim South Park as its own. Nominally, Parker and Stone are libertarians, professing a straight-down-the-middle empathy for the little guy who just wants to be left alone by meddling political and cultural forces. But their only true allegiance is to whatever is funniest; their only tenet is that everything and everyone has the potential to suck equally. More than anything, theyâve taught their most devoted followers that taking anything too seriously is hella lame.
OâNeal was careful to distinguish between what South Park does â which at least has a comedic ethos behind it â and the rise of online, meme-driven alt-right humor, which mostly seems designed to shock people as much as possible. He was also careful (as he should have been) not to claim that South Park somehow created the alt-right, which arose from a wide variety of influences and took its humor style from 4chan and similar forums, where eliciting a shocked reaction is often the best thing you can possibly do.
But itâs not hard to draw parallels anyway, and to do so requires evaluating South Park as one of a whole bunch of jokesters who set out to lampoon American society by poking it in the eye, and then smiling. Most of these jokesters were late baby boomers and Gen X-ers, people who were raised by television and pop culture and could see all the seams.
Therefore, they often engaged in irony-drenched deconstruction of the tropes of that pop culture â via programs that seem tame now but were shocking then (like The Simpsons, which pulled apart the myths of the perfect sitcom family), or programs that pointed to the very artificiality of television (like David Lettermanâs early talk show or Garry Shandlingâs â80s sitcom Itâs Garry Shandlingâs Show), or programs that traded in crude, politically incorrect humor intended to provoke a reaction (this is where South Park comes in).
Many of these programs and comedians are still around, still making jokes today. Some, like Sarah Silverman â whose earliest work was steeped in ironic racism â have mostly abandoned that sort of humor. Some, like Bill Maher â who built a whole career out of seeming to tell things like they were â now seem like relics. And some, like South Park and Family Guy, manage to evade much notice of just how out of time their comedy can feel because their animated trappings allow for some degree of detachment and distance.
But when it was more in vogue, this style of âWho can shock whom more?â humor became well established online, and the late 2000s and early 2010s saw plenty of it permeate Twitter and YouTube â two sites that are still around, still easily searchable, and still just sitting there waiting to sabotage the career of any famous person who doesnât go back and do a hasty purge. (Someone like Gunn, who seemed to have left his own bad tweets intact as evidence of his later personal growth, apparently learned the wrong lesson from our age of weaponized social media histories.)
The act of dredging up and passing judgment on someoneâs past social media posts is not new. You can look back as recently as 2015 to witness something similar happen to Trevor Noah before he took over The Daily Show â even if that particular instance of outrage was spurred much more by those on the left, who took issue with lazy, hacky jokes the comedian had made based on several awful stereotypes.
Still, Noahâs experience reflects a subtle but notable shift that occurred in the short period of time between Harmonâs Daryl (made in 2009) and most of Noahâs tweets (which were made just a few years later, in 2011 and 2012): At a certain point, ironic, shock-driven humor stopped being a cool way to get noticed, as more people realized it was an easy way to smuggle actual racism, sexism, and other forms of prejudice into the discourse.
Thatâs because shock humor didnât only reside on Twitter and YouTube. It also resided on 4chan and the other forums that gave rise to the alt-right, and it was too often expressed as, essentially, a kind of racist or sexist or [take your pick of any prejudice you like, really] gag that still said what everybody really thought. The key difference was that a great comedian could find a way to twist ironic racism so that the punchline was aimed at the ironic racist â an approach that had its pitfalls but was miles more nuanced than the slew of genuinely anti-Semitic images and other horrible âjokesâ that spew out of various alt-right depositories.
And such âjokesâ are the defining element of chan culture, where if you care, then youâve lost and everybody can laugh at you. The idea is provocation for its own sake, but when you stew in that provocation long enough, it becomes extremely easy to forget where the jokes end, as described in this recent BuzzFeed article about an alt-right rising star who murdered his own father after accusing him of being a leftist pedophile.
The thing about Daryl or South Park or even James Gunnâs tweets is that even if you donât think the jokes work, even if you believe theyâre couching truly terrible things in irony while failing to consider the potential irresponsibility of those tactics, theyâre all, on some level, coming from a place of thought and craft. Theyâre all trying to say something â about modern society, or about how ingrained horrible ideas are in our culture, or just about the TV show Dexter.
The great irony of this bad-faith war on comedians and other Hollywood figures by right-wing internet mobs is that the right-wing internet mobs are ultimately just as steeped in shock comedy culture as anybody else. But theyâve never understood what that culture intended, what its context was, or why some people found it funny. They only heard the racism and never the irony, and maybe thatâs as perfect a parable for how we got to now as anything else.
Original Source -> Alt-right internet mobs are attacking celebrities with their own jokes. The irony is stark.

Aside from going to the movies as much as possible I do love a chill night in with good olâ Netflix. With the ENDLESS amount of content on the streaming service, Netflix also loves putting out their own original movies and T.V. In between my trips to the theatre I just so happened to be able to catch a movie here and there throughout the year and like last year, here are the list of movies l watched with a brief review of how they turned out in no particular order.
OkjaÂ
picture via pinterest
picture via slashfilm.com
Starring Tilda Swinton and Paul Dano
An exceptional adventure of a little girl named Mija risking everything to rescue her best friend, a remarkable animal named Okja from a multi-national company. I found this movie to be exciting, fantastical, and touching friendship story with a satirizing message regarding the food industry. With comic and over the top performances from everyone involved including Jake Gyllenhaal, you will fall in love with the lovable Okja.

I Donât Feel at Home in This World Anymore
picture via imdb.com
picture via mistfts.com
Starring Melanie Lynskey and Elijah Wood
This dark comedy involving a woman whose home was burglarized and gets inspired to find the people who did it with the help of an eccentric and obnoxious neighbor. As they dig deeper they get entangled in a much bigger situation they are clearly not prepared to handle. This movie is not bad. I liked the wit of the script. Since it is a comedy, there are a lot of bumbling criminals running around the movie but I think the self help the depressed lead is going through is interesting enough to keep it realistic and a little relatable to anyone who feels like they get shit on every day and just canât get a break. Check this out if you feel like something indie to watch. A comedy with a bit of substance.

Naked

picture via consequenceofsound.net
Starring Marlon Wayans and Regina Hall
With no explanation given at all, Marlon Wayans plays a man who happens to be caught in a time loop repeating the day of his wedding to his fiancĂ©. Not only that, he wakes up completely naked. Only he remembers his previous day and must find a way to make it to his wedding and marry the woman he loves. The concept is nothing new you havenât seen before and unfortunately, the hijinks were a bit too silly to be taken seriously. Yes, it is a comedy but it has to be funny and somewhat real even for comedy sake. No real interesting characters. Marlon is charming but he was given a horrible script to work with. Its an okay watch but once it is over you will forget you watched it.

Little Evil
picture via imdb.com
picture via hypable.com
Starring Adam Scott and Evangeline Lilly
A horror comedy spoof of The Omen a man marries a woman with a 6-year-old son of her own. Typical modern family except that he believes the is might be the antichrist. I love the concept and Owen Atlas who plays the devilâs child is great in it as the brooding evil incarnate. Evangeline is funny as the naĂŻve mother unaware of her sonâs true destiny. Packed full of other known standup comedians and T.V. actors this has a bit of humor that keeps you engage but as the movie progresses it gets way too silly and a little boring. This is one I think can be scrolled pass but if you like the actors associated, give it a shot. What do you have to lose? Your soul?

Take the 10
picture via imdb.com
picture via imdb.com
Starring Josh Peck and Tony Revolori
A comedy involving two friends who plan to make a big change in their life has to tie up loose ends when a drug deal goes bad. All taking place in one day, this movie is told in interwoven shorts from the perspective of a different character each time covering the same 24 hours. This movie would actually be worth recommending but the characters are not likable at all. In fact, one of them is just a straight up asshole who is too narcissistic for his own good. The Y generation may find this enjoyable and relatable as well as anyone who lives or knows southern California well to understand the joke within the title. It wasnât boring just not a great movie.

iBoy
picture via imdb.com
picture via inuth.com
Starring Bill Milner and Maisie Williams
Trying to capture on the superhero fad, a young boy is given the ability to control anything technological. Of course, no superhero with powers are created without a tragedy. He gets these abilities because pieces of his cellphone were implemented into his brain after being shot in the head while on the phone. Discovering his new gifts, he uses them to save his crush and take back the neighborhood that is being controlled by a mobster and his goons. This idea is about as bonkers as it sounds. It actually attempts to try and be a serious authentic crime drama. The acting is par and the movie isnât slow. The way he uses his abilities is creative but this story is a stretch to be taken seriously. For you Game of Throne fans out there that want to see Arya Stark out of her war garment then check this out, otherwise, this is a movie you donât need to see.

#realityhigh
picture via imdb.com
picture via dailydot.com
Starring Nesta Cooper and Keith Powers
Combine the color and upbeat acting of Disney and the updated and modern teen experience of Freeform and you got yourself a high school comedy. This one involves a high-achieving high school girl who is supposedly someone who isnât beautiful to get the man of her dreams because she wears glasses witnesses her crush dating someone who is the center of a reality tv show that follows her around. Through certain circumstances she is drawn into the world of being popular and getting everything, she wants but also risking losing the very thing she didnât believe she had the whole time. I actually enjoyed watching this teen flick. All the characters were very likable, they all had brains and had a voice and it seemed that everyone got their fair share of screen time. I actually see this show being a great series. At the end of the day it is a cheesy teen flick that makes millenials look like technologic narcissistic zombies. If they decide to do more of these following up what happens next, I wouldnât object. Honestly, if you watch the trailer and have interest in watching it, check it out.

You Get Me
picture via imdb.com
picture via netflix.com
Starring Bella Thorne and Halston Sage
A thriller in the same vain as A Fatal Attraction, Swimfan, and anything involving a love affair turned deadly. Bella Throne is the new Glenn Close in this teen suspense movie when she has a one-night stand with a man who recently broke up with his long-time girlfriend. After a weekend of sex and cuddles, he tries to get back with his girlfriend realizing what he lost and she decides that he is the new love of her life and will destroy anyone that gets in her way. This movie was a little cheesy as some of the actions carried out seemed to unreal to be carried out. I donât really feel sorry for the victim or protagonist of the movie. These movies tend to bug me sometimes with the idea that a woman canât go without a man. Just think if this movie was Twilight and Stewartâs Bella went all postal in addition to her obsession with Edward. If you are a fan of Bella Thorne, check this out. If not, this is the same olâ same olâ tale.

1922

picture via basementrejects.com
Starring Thomas Jane and Molly Parker
The Stephen King adaptation of his novel 1922 sees a prideful father and farmer who is having financial troubles keeping his farm afloat. His wife wants to sell but he is to proud to give it up. Convincing his son to participate, they plot to kill his wife to make sure they can keep the farm. The outcome is far more than they would imagine. Paranoia, deceiving, and ghostly visions and dreams plague the father and son who try and keep up the charade that their mother just disappeared. Haunted by their crime the movie gives off a thrilling ride to possible insanity. This movie is more drama than horror and more depressing then suspenseful. Doesnât mean this movie wasnât good but just know that this movie may not be what you think it is. If you want to see a gut-wrenching story and the desperation of what one man would do to keep his livelihood, you may enjoy this film.

The Babysitter
picture via wikipedia.com
picture via bloodydisgusting.com
Starring Samara Weaving and Judah Lewis
This horror comedy is one of the best horror films in 2017. It is silly in a McG sort of way but has a lot of heart in it. This movie has everything: cults, bullies, spiders, shirtless hot guy, blood sacrifices, deflating implants all wrapped up in a big bow with McGâs signature stamp on it. That can only mean you are in for a bizarre, twisted, and funny flick mixed with some jump scares, some cool kills and the laws of gravity are thrown away because itâs McG. I love the cast and they played likable characters. This will make you laugh and there is a lot of blood. I think the script is clever and the friendship between the babysitter and her charge is the best part. A slow start in the beginning but once it happens it doesnât stop.

Geraldâs Game
picture via wikipedia.com
picture via fhm.com
Starring Carla Gugino and Bruce Greenwood
An adapted Stephen King novel adapted for screen was one of the best ideas in 2017. I have never heard of this novel before and it is terrifying to watch. What a well done film with suburb acting from Carla Gugino who is at a cabin with her husband trying to spice up their relationship but due to unfortunate events she is put through the most brutal mental test to find out if she has what it takes to survive. This was a gut-wrenching edge of your seat one woman show. It will have you spooked, bewildered, and any other intense feeling you can think of. I highly recommend this film and towards the end you will witness one of the most painful look away scenes of 2017.

Is Appleâs iPhone X FaceID secure, cybersecurity experts give mixed views
To make things more convenient and easy, Appleâs new iPhone X has removed the home screen button and has put up a face recognition technology to unlock the iPhone. The new biometric-Face ID uses a 3D scan of the face as a password to unlock the device. Some of the experts say, Apple might be exposing its users to a serious security risk, reported EC. âNo matter how convenient, Face ID has a potent risk. Passwords are completely private and if needed can be protected with precautions. Your fingerprints, on the other hand, have a potential to be picked up from anywhere as you canât just wear gloves everywhere. Now with FaceID, your sole authentication medium is always out in the open, up for grabs,â said Ankush Johar, director at BugsBounty.com, a crowd sourced security platform for ethical hackers and organisations. Johar is of the view that if a user phone can use an infrared scan to trace every inch of their face then so can any other hardware. âItâs about time that someone finds a way to replay it back to your phone and itâs game over then,â he added. Face ID requires the person to simply look at their phone and it automatically recognises the userâs face in a no time and unlocks itself. It also replaces Touch ID for Apple Pay. This means, even for transactions, all a user has to do is to look at iPhone X to authorise the transaction. âWith the iPhone X, your iPhone is locked until you look at it and it recognises you. Nothing has ever been more simple, natural, and effortless,â said Apple executive, Phil Schiller in the launch keynote address, adding that âthis is the future of how weâll unlock our smartphones and protect our sensitive information.â Apple states that unlocking a phone via Face ID will be way more convenient than unlocking it with fingerprints, now that users wonât have to worry about wet hands etc. Apple is working too hard to make things convenient for its users. Security concerns However, the use of Face ID seems to be so effortless it raises a lot of security questions, said cybersecurity experts. In the past, there have been cases where a face recognition technology has been easily spoofed by using simple tricks. In 2009 security researchers demonstrated that they could spoof the face-based login system of laptops just by using a printed photo held in front of the camera. Not only that, in 2011, Android had a face unlock feature that required the person to blink in front of the camera before the phone would unlock itself. Researchers were successful in bypassing the security with a little photoshop effect. âFingerprint scanners can be defeated in multiple ways including using a plastic thumb or 2D printed fingerprints. Face Lock has also been broken easily by using just a high-res photo of a face. Face ID claims to use a 3D scan but with the advent of 3D printing, it is still possible to print a 3D model of your face to unlock your device without consent,â said David Maciejak, director of security research, Fortinet adding that âAndroid phones has embedded facial recognition long back and history shows it is not fool proof and can be bypassed easily.â Agreeing with Maciejak, Pradipto Chakrabarty, regional director, Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) said that in this era of hyper-accurate scanning, photo shopping and 3D printing and amazing graphic manipulation, it would not be very difficult for someone to create a way to manufacture and spoof a face. He asserted that Apple does a great job, generally, with their coding and they are apparently better than most other manufacturers. Despite best efforts by Apple there can be issues regarding flaws in the technology implementation itself. âTo make Face ID work, Apple iPhones uses a feature called Secure Enclave. But what if the system attracts something like the recent Equifax-like breach where a vulnerability in a web application software resulted in a huge number of consumer data being stolen? If such a thing happens with face ID, the bad actors will have more than just your password. They have the biometric information and thereby in effect have stolen you,â he said. Although it is clear that hacking iPhoneâs Face ID wonât be a childâs play. The new version of iPhone uses an infrared system to cast a grid of 30,000 invisible light dots onto the userâs face. The user is required to rotate his/her head while the camera captures the distortion of that grid to map the faceâs 3D shape. A senior officer from Ministry of Home Affairs who spoke on condition of anonymity, said in addition to security concern, there may be privacy issue, if phone 3D camera is always on. âI personally feel there is an element of privacy. What if, for some reason, someone from law enforcement wants to get into someoneâs phone without their explicit permission? In many countries, a warrant or express permission is required. But with Face ID, a rogue law enforcement officer could simply hold the phone up to the face and get instant access,â said officer. However, allaying the fear, one of the senior journalist, who attended the launch in Cupertino, California emphasised, âFaceID is not a new technology, it has been there. Apple has just made it more robust. If a person feels there is privacy or security issue, they may use other method of locking and unlocking of the phone. Face ID is not the only method of accessing iPhone X.â The journalist also said that iPhone X uses sensor to lit up the device which is already there in previous iPhone. âCamera is not always on.â Agreeing with the views, Sean Sullivan, Security Advisor at F-Secure said, âOwning a smart phone with payment options is a potential risk, but, does the risk outweigh the benefits? Based on adoption of such technology, the answer from people at large appears to be âno.â They routinely say âyesâ in favour of such tech.â He added that the majority of fraud is still facilitated via physical mishandling of payment cards. âTechnology moves risk, it doesnât necessarily introduce it. In numerous ways, facial recognition is more secure than physically carrying around sensitive cards. Afraid of a thief taking your phone and pointing it at your face? That same thief could watch you enter your PIN and then steal your debit card. Or they could simply take your cash,â he said. Appleâs reaction Despite the security concerns, Apple is quite confident with their technology by saying that Face ID cannot be fooled by photographs, and they have tested the system against face masks which means that even a photo-realistic face mask wonât fool it. The company accept that Face ID does get confused by identical twins but it needs the userâs attention. It will require some kind of userâs interaction in order to successfully unlock the phone. Appleâs Schiller said in a Keynote that even 3D printing the head wonât work in spoofing the FaceID. To further prove his point, he showed a photo of minutely detailed masks created by Hollywood special-effects consultants that he said Apple used to test the feature. Agreeing with Apple, in a blogpost, cybersecurity firm Kaspersky Lab said, flat pictures just donât have a 3-D map of infrared dots on them, which is needed to unlock new iPhone. âYou donât have to worry about someone stealing your face â the images captured by Face ID are kept in the encrypted memory of Appleâs special coprocessor called Secure Enclave. They are processed only on the device and are never sent to Appleâs servers or elsewhere. It doesnât leave the Secure Enclave either, so no apps can gain access to your face scans,â wrote Alex Perekalin. He further added that odds of someone unlocking Face ID with their face are 1 in a million compared with 1 in 50,000 for the Touch ID fingerprint reader, is quite impressive. More secure â biometrics or passwords? There are pros and cons of both â biometrics or passwords methodologies. While using biometric like fingerprints or facial recognition is easy and convenient, but at the same time if someone is successful in replicating a personâs biometric data, unlike password they wonât be able to change it. The hacker will gain a life time access to their data unless of course, they use a different finger to unlock. A person can still not have two faces though. On the other side if a user has a weak password or he/she becomes a victim of social engineering that also will lead to a major security risk. âIn order to achieve a maximum level of security passwords and biometrics, both of them should be required to unlock a device. Even if one layer of security gets bypassed the user will still remain secure,â suggested Johar. No silver bullets, follow the best practices As famous American cryptographer Bruce Schneier said, âthere are no silver bulletsâ to cybersecurity. Schiller also noted during the announcement, thereâs no such thing as an absolutely secure system. âBased on Face ID design, we can say that the new iPhoneâs facial recognition should be more secure than that of traditional facial recognition done by a simple 2-D front-facing camera, and it might be more secure than the Touch ID fingerprint sensor. However, security researchers from all over the world will soon be trying to hack this system, so whether it is secure enough has yet to be determined,â said Perekalin, adding that fortunately, the traditional six-digit PIN code is still an option. Like any PIN, it is, of course, not ultimately secure, but at least it canât leak biometric data to hackers. âOne of the basic best practices with a password is not to write it down or share it with someone or not to use the same password for all accounts. Similarly, we must implement best practices with biometric access too. For facial recognition, itâs a bit different, maybe doing a funny face would work? And maybe users can even make a different face for different âFace IDâ enabled devices/apps,â said Maciejak of Fortinet. He is of the view that bypassing biometric scanners may not be successful in one try, but it may be possible after a few tries. So, device manufacturers should design the devices in a way that after a few failed face recognition attempts, they revert to asking for traditional authentications like PIN or passcode as an added protection. On the other hand, Chakrabarty said, âTechnology development is imperative for us and therefore we should not err on the side of being excessive cautious. Apple phone and software are extremely secure and we should trust their development process which are usually breach proof.â Agreeing with Chakrabarty, Sullivan of F-Secure said, âNo technology is invulnerable. There will be flaws exposed and researchers will be able to defeat this new security control. But that will be in a specialised simulation, a set of âlabâ experiments. Fears where raised regarding fingerprints being used to authenticate, flaws where demonstrated, and yet, the sky did not fall.â âApple FaceID needs to prove itself. But at this point, anybody who can actually afford to buy the iPhone X should well be capable of understanding the pros and cons,â he added. Click to Post
