Ciel likes to watch the sky. He likes to watch how the clouds race to overtake each other, he likes to watch the sun dancing alone in its place, twirling its colorful skirt of orange, yellow and pink during the hours that pass until finally the moon takes its place.

Quiet moments like this now, where he just sits in his armchair, his work all done and Sebastian far away, is when he can think about the things he's lost. But also the ones he won. If Sebastian had any knowledge about such thoughts, Ciel would certainly be subjected to his jokes and mockery.

The demon, while bound by the contract, could still make fun of his little master and he knew exactly how to embarrass the young lord. But Sebastian didn't need to know how the boy thinks about his twin brother, his parents, the employees and his childhood friend, Y/n; If they were alive now they would be maybe thirteen or fourteen, just like him and his brother. It was a fateful day, indeed.

The murder, the cult, Ciel hates remembering it, but he doesn't know how to let it all go. He's a child and there's no one he can ask for help - even if there was, perhaps his pride wouldn't allow it. He didn't ask for help when he was kidnapped, he didn't ask for help when he went through countless assassination attempts, nor did he ask for help with difficult tasks that the queen assigned him. He was the Phantomhive heir, the family's leader, he couldn't just simply ask for help.

The count narrows his blue eyes at the brooding darkness that has settled in his office, counting how many grains of sand fall into the hourglass and how long he has left in peace before Sebastian shows up to annoy him.

Maybe fifteen minutes.

With enough time for the boy to put his small plan into action, he pulled a wooden board from one of the drawers and placed it on the table. Ciel, by and large, was not superstitious, but recent events had left him puzzled. Moreover, he had a demon as his butler, a boy with super strength as his gardener, a sniper as his maid, and a soldier as his cook. In any case, he had even encountered death gods.

Therefore, if he suspected that the presence lingering over his shoulders while he worked or the entity hiding his items and making them appear in different places was something to be investigated, then he would investigate until his doubts were cleared. The giggles and whispers were becoming unsettling. Of course, he heard voices, but they were the voices of occultists, screams and cries from when they died at the hands of Sebastian.

But this particular voice was incredibly irritating and almost familiar.

Ciel scanned the wooden surface, wondering if he was a fool for buying it. The boy was almost certain that Sebastian knew about the board, but he decided not to comment; the butler had been rather distant since they returned from London that morning. Ciel didn't mind, quickly reading the rules and holding the pointer in his hands, trying to see something through it.

There was nothing… yet.

Ciel laid the pointer on the board and sighed, placing his fingers on it, ready to start. He hadn't said anything yet, but an aura already seemed to completely envelop his office. Or maybe he was anxious; he couldn't tell.

"Is there anyone there?" Ciel murmured, his firm voice echoing in the silent room.

For several moments, nothing happened. He really didn't expect anything to happen, judging this whole thing as something foolish that only became popular because of the horror stories that circulated in cities. He stared at the board intently, each letter in cursive, every mystical symbol adorning it, waiting for a response that would satisfy him. Impatiently, he repeated the question once more.

"Is there anyone there?" He looked at the pointer and then around. "If there is, give me a sign."

This time, the pointer began to move slowly across the board as if the entity on the other side was drowsy, gliding from one letter to another with a calmness that Ciel himself didn't possess. Ciel watched with intensity, his expression impassive. But inside, a strange feeling took hold of him.

It was real, after all. As real as shinigamis or Sebastian. He stifled another sigh in his throat.

"Who is there?" He asked, the words leaving his lips with determination.

Who behind the veil was tormenting him, holding on to him tightly so as not to be pulled into the forgetfulness of eternal sleep. He put more force on the pointer as if everything depended on the answer he would receive.

The letters came together to form words, and Ciel remained focused, but a hint of skepticism was present in his gaze when the words spelled out a name. Your first and last name.

"Y/N?" He wondered aloud.

Ciel may have lost a lot, but he also gained a lot. He gained another family, gained new friends allies, gained a new chance.

And yet… He hadn't gained you back. Or had he?

For a second, he let the pointer rest on the board, feeling a heavy sensation settle in his chest as he thought about the days when you used to stay by his side when he was bedridden with asthma, telling him your silly stories and jokes, all while holding his hand and looking tenderly at him. You were his best friend. And he missed you a lot.

And now you were here. You were here.

He placed his finger on the pointer again, still feeling doubtful if it was really you or some other spirit. Confidently, he asked something that only you knew. "What was the nickname that only you called me, and why?"

The nickname you used for him when it was just the two of you. Not for his brother, not for Ciel. If it was really you there, you would notice the small differences, as you did when you were alive.

The pointer moved, taking with each movement a beat of the young earl's heart. One by one, the letters formed a nickname forgotten by time and bitter memories of the only Phantomhive still wandering through this tedious world.

"Pleiades, that's what I used to call you." There was a pause, and Ciel felt his entire body trembling with the confirmation that yes, it was you on the other side. He straightened up in his chair, trying to show that he was calm — little did he know that you could perceive how surprised he was.

And you would tease him about it later.

"Just like your hair, they are blue, an optical phenomenon caused by the dispersion of light in the Earth's atmosphere." You explained, nodding as if he could see you. Ciel rolled his eyes but almost unconsciously smiled.

"I see you remain a know-it-all." He teased.

And you stuck your tongue out at him, moving your arms to make the chair he was sitting in slide backward. Ciel's cheeks immediately turned pink as a little yelp escaped his lips. He hadn't expected you to have more tricks up your sleeve, but soon he regained his composure and cleared his throat, watching you move the pointer.

"One of us has to be clever," You chuckled. "Obviously, I'm the smart friend."

Ciel let out a long sigh. "Your knowledge is all random, though."

You shrugged. What importance did any kind of knowledge have now that you were dead? You said nothing for a few minutes, running your fingers over the wood of the board and the supposedly mystical symbols. Being dead was boring, different for everyone, and you weren't even sure how your soul managed to escape the shinigamis for so long.

But you had one certainty; you were stuck in this world for some reason still. In many stories, there would be an unfulfilled desire or a want, and you had several, but you had made peace with the fact that you could no longer fulfill them. So what was still keeping you there?

"Hey, can I ask you something?"

Ciel nodded, gesturing with his hand for you to continue.

"Can you free me? Can you invite me out?"

Ciel had already broken some rules, especially the one that said he couldn't play alone and that the player should have a form of spiritual protection, whatever they had faith in — a crucifix, a talisman, anything. Ciel, however, had a mark on his eye, so you assumed that nullified this rule. Did that thing serve as a protective mark, though?

The boy remained silent for some time, seemingly weighing the pros and cons of taking such action. To bind a spirit to himself, to the world of the living, when he knew he should let you rest in peace, when he knew such agreements were dangerous.

But he was still the selfish earl who liked to monopolize your time; he was still that same sickly boy who needed a friend. And no one else could be his friend but you. Only you understood him, after all.

He nodded.

It was foolishness, but not even Sebastian could have stopped him. He pressed the pointer harder, desperate for it to work, but of course, it would work if you were already in front of him, the dead proof that there could be life in death.

"I invite you, Y/n, to leave this board."

A warm feeling flooded your chest, as if your skin were kissed by the sun again after so long. You savored it for a moment, smiling, feeling strangely more alive than before, and withdrew your hand from the pointer.

"Can you see me?" You asked, your voice hoarse from not speaking for months.

But Ciel didn't seem to understand, not yet at least. So you touched his cheek as you did when congratulating him on a chess victory, and he felt it, his eyes widening as he assimilated the situation. You figured that now that you touched him, he could hear you, so you asked the question again.

And slowly, he nodded. You could only imagine what he thought of your bloodstained shirt and disheveled appearance, so different from the one you once proudly preserved. Times change, and so do you, and you were like this now, a lost ghost that not even death seemed to want.

You smiled, squeezing both of his cheeks and watching him shudder. It was good to see him, good to be back, even if nothing would be the same. Nothing could ever be the same again, but being able to touch him again after so long, you didn't hesitate to hug him.

You were together again.

OK back with now some specific, isolated skag facts about Tusk's skags!! They were both found locked in a cage behind a skag on a stick stand as pups/juveniles, and had essentially been trapped there most of their life. Tusk, naturally, stole them [cage and all], and ran. Skewer, who was a little older, was a juvenile at the time. She was missing a leg [chopped off]m and is a Howler skag! [A fan-skag species made by @doglintime for Tusk, ty bestie!] Here's some art of them real quick before the super yap.

Jackwes was younger, only a pup, and a normal skag at the time Tusk got them. Both of them have their own respective personalities, and animals they're based off of, but both of them started out as wild. undomestic skags. [To my knowledge, both were taken from their families in the wild] And you may be asking, Splat, why does this matter? Wouldn't Tusk just be able to tame them as wild skags? And the answer is yes, however, it would be a lot harder to do so, with a lot more complications. Which leads into this, that I believe that many, tiny subsets and subspecies of skag exist, and in this specific case, Jackwes and Skewer evolved their own sort of domesitcation under Tusk's care. All of because of environmental pressure. Side note, these are the animals both Skewer [Spotted Hyena + Camel/Horse + Monitor lizards] and Jackwes [Striped Hyenas + Three banded armadillos + Elephants/Bloodhounds]. But Splat! The pressure to evolve wouldn't be too bad, right? WRONG! Sort of, at least. While Tusk, nor anyone else in tftbl put any pressure under the skags in that manner, everyone in the story still are running from Vallory's gang. The skags have to live in an environment with strictly humans [and robots], while on the run. While it's a different type of pressure from the wilds of Pandora, it's still a subtle one. And, since it's still pandora, it isn't exactly the same as domestication here. [They're still gonna eat other skags, etc, etc.] Skewer, I theorize would evolve in a more subtle way, but quicker than Jackwes. She is older, has more pressure on her to change and adapt. All the most common signs of domestication would develop, heightened intelligence, etc etc. Her species is normally territorial, and more solitary than normal skags. [Funfact, the females of her species also grow antlers/horns and all of them can make piercing screams.] It made her training, in the beginning a lot, LOT harder, but she ended up being extremely loyal, just as much so as Jackwes. Near the end of her juvenile she's large enough to be ridden by everyone but Rhys and Tusk [who are both too heavy/tall at that time]. But still retaining her species as compared to the skag riders in the general knoxx dlc and lynchwood. The technical progression would look like this, let's use just a stand in scientific name for Howler skags Skag ululatus -> Skag uluatus familiaris. Not much changes other than the fact Skewer is now a domestic version of a Howler skag. Jackwes, on the other hand, is just a normal skag. The kind you see running around as adults all the time. On top of that, his growth is stunted, and he's about half a head/a head shorter than a normal skag during most of his development. He's often too fast to be hit, and can rely on Tusk, Skewer, or anyone else to protect him. He doesn't need to change, and doesn't. At least to start out. Jackwes, as a normal skag would be used to a large pack dynamic. No problem, seeing as he's in a van with a bunch of other people all the time. But there are times were it's just the three of them. Tusk gets sick, Skewer can get hurt despite her size, and slowly over time, boom, pressure. Jackwes, for a while, would just adapt like this. Skag cunicidae -> Skag cunicidae familiaris. But I thought it would be cool if he went on to evolve to something that wasn't really found in the wild. And while it could happen, it's more a specific product of him being raised around humans and a different skag species. Skewer for the most part has a lot of physical differences compared to a normal skag. Antlers, a longer, more muscular neck, sensitive hearing, worsened eyesight and a terrible sense of smell.

Jackwes, on the other hand, barely has any differences, other than his smaller size. And that gave me an idea, what if he filled in that kind of pack role? A tracker skag, [hence the previous elephant and bloodhound base, which I am SO sure does not make sense other than in this context, just for their olfactory senses.] He could fill in for what Skewer absolutely can't, and that would make his full "evolutionary line" Skag cunicidae -> Skag cunicidae familiaris -> Skag vestidae familiaris. "These Skags have shown subtle, yet significant changes upon living and pack bonding with six humans."

(This happened like In episode 10 mcb s1) Tina was adopted(stolen) by heavy iron, She Got lost In the streets looking for her mother. She eventually wandered around a scrapyard(where heavy iron resides for 8 episodes). She saw a semi truck, just standing there, unmoving. Was it abandoned? Not sure. She Walked over. And waved at it's window shield. "Hello??.". And a voice suddenly Came out of the semi itself. " Go away.".and suddenly woah. Eyes popped up on the window shield. Tina shrieked before calming down. "Who are you???" Tina Questioned him. Heavy iron was ignoring her. But Tina keeps asking the same question, for like 20 minutes. Before heavy iron gave in and gave her an answer, "I am heavy iron, the strongest metal cardbot In the universe!". Tina just stared at him and said "That's cringe. anyways, what are metal cardbots?". And heavy iron answers her question. After a while they sometimes hang out with each other. And sometimes bicker, heavy iron kinda became a father figure.

(This takes place Ep 18) Black hook appears and is looking for his star crown stolen by heavy iron. Tina quickly ran in hiding, peeked out and saw some humans. One with green hair, one with pink hair, one with brown hair, one with blue hair and a grown man... Ah. She recognized them. It's jun, crest, Anna, and Theo, She saw them in her school. She saw as Heavy iron and Black hook fight with each other. She narrowed her eyes as 2 robots like heavy iron appeared, a blue one and a purple one. She saw a Medal on the blue ones head. Oh so he's a star guardian? Heavy iron sometimes gives facts, Scary or not, to her when she's hanging out with him and star guardians are one of the facts. Tina looked up and saw a Purple haired girl, phalia, and before she could react, she was pounced on immediately by phalia, and they kinda began a childish fight. After the fight of both the childish and the main one, heavy iron decides to leave the scrap yard(not without bringing Tina) and begin his experiment. Making earth into a place metal cardbots will live. (He forgot humans can't live without an atmosphere ah, imagine.)

Whats Otto's purpose if they have one? Like as a toy product I mean!! (if they are one.) (Ie. Huggy: Hugs, Poppy: Treating her like a real girl, etc)

Okay so I actually have 2 other Tarantulas besides Otto bc like the Smiling Critters having the Nightmare Critters as their antithesis, the Longlegs Family have their own antithesis in the form of the Tarantulas(it would be cheesy to name them the Tormentulas tbh but idk wdyt?)) and since we’re talking abt Otto’s purpose, I’ll talk abt 2 other ocs in the making related to Otto

So there’s Otto, Octavia(Via), and Octavio(Vio)

Otto’s purpose is to be a strong and durable toy that can hold up to 10-20 books and even a whole school bag so children(or teens even and maybe adults too) can organize their stuff and have the Otto toy carry their heavy items or use him to carry or hold anything. Here’s more abt who Otto was before becoming a bigger body

His game mechanics when avoiding him would be audio and visual cues with a hint of trying to run as fast as you can IF Harley decided to light up one of the nearby monitors of the area to alert Otto. Plus he’s very strong and nearly as tall as Huggy so he will break anything just to get to you

Octavia’s purpose is to record videos and apply them to empty vhs tapes which are sold separately. The cameras are placed on both her paws which are very bendable. Her bigger body version is blind all bc of Harley and his petty rivalry/hate with Penelope Huntsman.

Her game mechanic would be to avoid getting caught by her camera or hide if you’re caught bc it takes a while for the vhs to process on her screen which act as her way to “see”(her “sight” is delayed by 5 seconds)

Oh yes btw, this is Penelope, Arthur’s step sister and she became like this bc Otto accidentally injured her that she looked “dead” but Harley “revived” her to become Octavia

Octavio’s purpose is to record voice tapes. Their cutout counterpart does have a mouth but Harley made sure to make the bigger body version silent because the employee(Mary Anne, an oc))inside was part of the theatre accident but her body wasn’t counted bc before the cleanup crew arrived Otto took her body to beg Harley to save them. They learned how to speak using their tape recorder and the voices of the ppl in the tape, learning from 1006/the Prototype which nearly caused them to get killed or set them free.

Their game mechanic would be audio cues bc you have to follow them or respond to them if they speak in the following voices: Cole Vaughn, Penelope Huntsman, Poppy, Dogday

You’re safe to proceed but sometimes the audios will be jumbled so listen carefully

Funfact: Octavio and Octavia Tormentulas were banned from bringing to school usually due to how students could cheat using the dolls’ features.

At this point I've basically long since run dry on Bleach funfacts, certainly out of any that have any real weight in the broader readings of the series. But I do have one not-so-fun fact still left up my sleeve --a real dead end nothing contribution... So buckle up, I guess?

I apologize in advance if this ends up, like, I dunno, spoiling the aesthetic(?) if the Stenritter or the quincy for anyone. Feel free to just ignore this and move on if you're touchy about keeping your obsessive fandom experiences squeaky clean.

So, I noted back when I was combing thru Quincy terms, that it felt a little less than comfy that in addition to the general n*zi aesthetics Juugram's official title was in fact "Sternritter Grand Master" which felt, at the time, like an unfortunate coincidence that it would fall in line with the naming scheme of the K*K's nonsense titles like Grand Wizard/Grand Dragon, Grand Cyclops, Grand Magi and various other ridiculous sounding occultist LARPer horseshit they've cycled thru over the past century+. But I just kinda left it at that and didn't think to dig any deeper,

But then I was reminded that in the early days of the K*K one of their stated goals was to establish a white supremacist "country" inside the united states, and as they dabbled in this insurgency fantasy, they dubbed this goal of a secret, second, white nation within the confines of the USA, their "Invisible Empire"...

And although the word we hear throughout the TYBW arc is the German Wändenreich[ヴァンデンライヒ] from Wänden:“Walls” and Reich:“Empire/Realm,” the Japanese meaning underlying that term is [見えざる帝国]: “Unseen/Invisible Empire.”

In fact the white robes and hoods tradition stemmed from what were initially petty pranks(although they escalated very quickly in seriousness and danger) in which they would menace black communities and abolitionists by pretending to be the ghosts of dead confederates. In this capacity the imagery and language around them also evoked an "Army of Ghosts."

And although Bleach never properly addressed it, there was always this vague issue of the Quincy's ages... Those with clear backgrounds like Juugram and Bazz-B seem impossibly old. And we see that As Nodt is recruited on what appears to be his deathbed --in a hospital, on life support and in fear of dying, with a bible on his bedside as if ready to be read his last rites-- and of course the Quincy genocide of 200 years prior.

And tangential to this, we see the brief, if mostly pointless, return of the three dead Fullbringers --Ginjo, Tsukishima, and Giriko-- who all seem to have retained their memories and powers across the borders of life and death. (We won't ask about how or why their fullbring items are still usable)

Is it safe to speculate then that the Quincy are in fact a literal Army of Ghosts? It explains how they're able to go toe to toe with the shinigami in ways Uryuu's initial explanations of Quincy skills would've suggested wasn't possible. (i.e. that they were describes as being regular flesh and bone humans and only their weapons are actually supernatural, and thus they are not capable of particularly extraordinary physical feats, or blessed with any superhuman durability.)

And it also sort of makes more sense that rather than being a bunch of flesh and blood humans who survived losing the war, somehow spiritized themselves to get into the afterlife, and then hid for 999 years, that they could have just been humans who died first and were recruited as ghosts, having been spirited away into the shadow realm. Or Quincy that died with the full intent of reuniting as ghosts, having some kind of assurance that they would retain their memories and powers.

I like the former over the latter though, as it means the Ishida family really were the last living Quincy. But I do like the morbid idea of Yhwach commanding his army, Jamestown style, to kill themselves as the first step to them going to heaven. Only in this case the "kingdom of god" as they imagine it has to be fought for in the afterlife , because the shinigami already have a whole society there and need to be driven out first.

I don't think there've been any real allusions to Japans history of secret Christians apart from the vaguest superficial elements of the Quincy being Catholic coded and literally secretive, but it's not not evoked in all this ..

There is also a lot of "Knight" and "White Knight" imagery and titles evoked in the K*K's long history, and while that's absolutely vague enough to be handwaved on its own, it's all still very much adjacent to the themes of Christian invasion...

(This has nothing to do with anything I just had already slapped the uniforms pic together and wanted to use it somewhere)

So to sort of loosely review everything going on with the Quincy....

Catholic inverted priest frocks, crosses, silver and exorcisms, holy eucharist angel wings&halo final forms, blood eucharist schrift, conversion based recruitment policies, the whole "one kingdom under god" shtick, miracle baby son of god christ figure, explicit mention of monotheism

but then also 5 pointed crosses/stars and pentagrams,

victims of a genocide with a dr.mengele nemesis, YHWACH-v-YHWH

inverted Hugo Boss uniforms, german themed attacks, skills and tools, crosses again, explicitly evoking the Schutzstaffel with Yhwach's royal guard, and nonsense blood purity eugenics b.s.... weirdly not touched upon "black sun" or swastika imagery tied to Ichigo

For some reason a few loose threads of what appear to be Loius XIV and his sun god apollo fixation, purifying light and sun and stars motifs

YHWACH having big Backbeard energy, the literal evocation of Backbeard, being a western ghost army

and now these mismatched crumbs of what appear to be deliberate K*K references: ghost army, invisible empire, grandmaster, etc...

Like... I don't think this makes them worse, or paints Kubo as some kind of crackpot racist --in case my stance on his use of n*zi imagery didn't make that clear-- but like... I don't know what to make of it honestly... It's as inconsequential to the actual message or plot as anything else, including the n*zi stuff, but it just feels weird knowing it's there? Just sorta loitering around in the background??

Also the Quincy are just such a bizarre clusterfuck of unfocused nonsense ""themes"" with like zero actual content just in general. Given everything that's in that slurry I think that might be for the better? Because any coherent message drawn from all of these influences probably couldn't have been any good...

Anyway like I prefaced this whole thing with: this is just kind of a dead end. No meaningful conclusions. But also sorry if that feels like it leaves a stain on your favorite characters or anything.

Hi!! 💕 I absolutely can talk about them dhsjsk, again Alyssa and Adaline belong to @silvermasquerade and the referenced post is here!

I didn't intend this but these bullet points are kind of ordered from least to most funny, so if you want timeline thoughts start at the top, but if you want goofs just start at the bottom and work your way back up until you get bored. Putting it under a read more bc this got dense

So like working with the merfolk is dangerous right. I imagine it's because there is a non zero chance that you could be torn apart (or depending on the species, eaten) on the job by things using teeth and claws with human-adjacent brains where you are in THEIR domain. Also because some merfolk have siren-lure qualities to their voices, which probably is for facilitating catching prey. And yes some of the aquarium residents have such voices! Namely Alyssa & Adaline and Quinton. Liana's voice doesn't entrance the same way even though it should, so by merfolk standards she doesn't sound very good, but by human standards she still sounds beautiful. For some reason my instinctual thoughts are that Mercer doesn't have a siren voice, while Estes' species definitely doesn't just in general. But the most dangerous part of the job is forgetting that these eventualities exist even if you have befriended one of them

Ada and Alyssa have been at the aquarium the longest, they've also been in contact with humans in general long enough that Adaline has pretty much picked up English. I think it makes the most sense that Bo and Ambrose are working more regular jobs, maybe helping with the aquarium's "natural" dolphins/etc, when the twins arrive. Then later, Quinton, Estes, and Mercer all get there at once, though only Estes is put in the aquarium at first. Quinton and Mercer are initially in a separate facility for medical attention and testing - Mercer is released first once his cuts are tended to, Quinton is kept there longer. Estes does not take kindly to this. Then a little later they gain Liana as well

There's a tiny note on one of the sketchbook pages about aquarium employee Betony - I think they had a very unstable childhood, even homeless for a bit before Bo learned about it (despite Betony's efforts) and eventually got Betony a job at the aquarium. The deal was that Aster would convince their mom, the aquarium owner, to give Betony a job just as a souvenir shop clerk, as long as Bo got Betony to take swimming lessons. Because Aster knew as well as Bo that Betony working customer service was going to be a disaster, and the sooner they could get transferred elsewhere, the better. And like it's not ideal obviously, but the two also underestimated the power of Betony's refusal to embarrass or upset Bo by getting fired or written up. Still, Bo finally convinces Betony to let him personally teach them to swim. So though sales clerk works out, if Betony ever does get dive certified it'll be huge for them

(There's no real substance to this thought but like just the image of the first day Q is brought into the aquarium. Bo walks into work for his early shift one morning and suddenly there's the last merfolk they were supposed to be getting, sleeping on some of the smooth rocks under their big UV lamp curled up close with the seal that's been causing so much trouble, and Bo can see why they were worried about that one but also wow it's pretty)

Since it's a modern au, I was imagining that they eventually start doing post-show interviews for publicity reasons. Like post game interviews lol where they let some reporters in and do it from the side of the pool. Again ofc Liana and Ambrose are media sweethearts. Alyssa and Bo are faves for their dry comments and sarcasm. Rhydian and Quinton can be harder to watch for people that are paying attention bc Rhydian likes to hog the questions and attention (which Q would normally be and technically is fine with, but like. It's the principle of the matter. Plus we know Rhydian is a jerk so)

Speaking of interviews, every once in a while there will be a reporter that just does not or refuses to grasp that the merfolk are people that understand English. Again hard to watch but also funny when it's not Rhydian they're interviewing bc of the varied reactions the humans have. One time a reporter asked Bo if "his mermaid" had any pre-show ritual or warm up and Bo just stared at him in silence for a full ten seconds until the guy folded and asked Alyssa herself properly

Another note from the sketchbook is earrings. Idk why I thought of it but I thought it'd be cute but Q knows that asking Rhydian is a non starter bc Rhydian just dismisses most of Q's questions or requests. But Alyssa asks Bo and instead of dismissing her, Bo points out that Rhydian was lying or just lazy when he told Quinton that any jewelry would just tarnish immediately underwater because there is such a thing as water safe jewelry that will last at least a little longer. However Bo does have to convince his mom that it's not the waste of money it appears to be and that Quinton, despite being "a man" (her words), specifically requested them and should be allowed to pierce his ears if Alyssa was. So the deal is it has to be done completely professionally, and they can only wear small studs for safety reasons. The silly thing I liked the most was the image of Bo, head propped on hand at his desk at home, suddenly coming back to the reality that he really was checking to see if any of the piercing and tattooing parlors in the area would do house calls to an aquarium just because the pretty merfolk asked him (which could mean nothing)

Back to the post show interviews. There's a popular clip of one of Bo and Alyssa's interviews taken after the first show of a new season, in which the aquarium unveiled that they do costumes now! Like a cross between acrobat and figure skating costumes but put them underwater. (I just enjoy designing them tbh)

Reporter: you two look great, how did you decide on your look?

Bo: I had nothing to do with it

Alyssa: he unironically wears khaki shorts everyday, he was not allowed to make any of the decisions

Bo: it's part of the work uniform

Alyssa: I'm not saying it again. Khaki shorts are not your only option, you just keep choosing to live like this. At least get the pants

People of course also take videos at the aquarium and they have social media managers (thank you Ayre and Nell). There's one viral video somewhere out there where someone comes up to Ambrose and asks "what song were you dancing to in the tank yesterday?" Ambrose is clearly a little embarrassed but he laughs because he knows it's funny actually and he goes "uh. It was Nasty" "nasty? Like I've been a nasty girl??" "Yeah, it comes on sometimes on the before and after hours playlists and it's really catchy, the ladies think it's funny to get it stuck in my head." It fades out with the person holding the camera saying "aw, you call them the ladies?" And then it smash cuts to a video of Ambrose in his scuba gear in the viewing tank, with three of the mermaids and one natural bottlenose, doing some admittedly very good improv choreo while two of the mermaids join in to varying degrees and the dolphin waves its head around to the beat Ambrose has going on. it's perfectly overlayed with Tinashe's Nasty

I need to stop or I'll be here all night, maybe I'll keep notes somewhere as I have more thoughts lmao. But yeah they're silly and I am having fun with this little side adventure ✨

i've mentioned it before, but Lambert's "real" name is 'Oona'! but they don't remember this in the slightest, and even when they do remember they don't use start using that name (because who 'Oona' was is no longer who they, Lambert, are now)

my second fun fact is that they have Extremely Bad self esteem. they didnt even feel all that excited about getting to live and becoming a god, they just felt So exhausted and nothing they did seemed to help. they do get better with this overtime but they do spend a long time having the worlds worst self esteem it starts manifesting into Very Normal Nightmares And Visions

for Nari... hmm (looks around) okay fun fact between you and me anon..... the heart jokes i keep making about him are because his heart has been stabbed/pierced several times, all at different points in his life.

He had a hole blown through his chest when he was mortal by an enemy of Shamura, which lead to him getting his crown (he was still really young as well at this point, not a great combo), the second time was when he was being chained; a chain went straight through his heart, which was also the most painful chain. Final time was well. when he dies in snah; his heart is ripped out, frozen solid, and shattered. SORRY FOR ALL THAT, NARINDER.

also, post-defeat during the earlier days he spent a lot of time getting his magical prowess back <3 he struggles to cast active curses, but he becomes proficient in more 'passive' magic, and actually enchants his weapon when he gets it back to make it stronger to make up for the physical strength he lost. very much a glass canon <3
