Ine - Kyoto
In November this year we took a drive to the west coast of Japan and explored the spectacular coastline between Tsuruga and Tango Peninsula, before heading east to Ago bay in Mie prefecture.
Ine is a small village at the end of the Tango Peninsula that is filled with glorious funaya (boat houses). In 2008, it was voted as one of Japan’s most picturesque villages, which I would agree with. The views were stunning.

Photo of the Day: Ine no Funaya
Ine no Funaya is a picturesque fishing village on the Japan Sea side of Kyoto Prefecture. Funaya means boat-house. The houses were built over the water of the bay so the fisherman could keep their boats protected. Some of the Funaya have been renovated into inns. My inn had had a particularly nice view of the bay from the dining area. And it goes without saying that the food was…

another wraith headcanon below, lwky spoilers for wraiths lore if you haven't read it already
i don't think Philip likes to cry. Sure, i believe he's emotional and sensitive definitely- but i believe he doesn't like to cry. I think if he cries, the feelings come rushing back of being a child, vulnerable and afraid while everyone he knows gets taken from him, and i think if he lets himself cry then again he has failed Funaya and his only solace/friends since the lost of his grandmother. If he cries then he is weak, something he wouldn't ever allow himself to be again after setting those mercenaries alight, and if he cries then he is complicit in being Azarov's pawn, reaping the souls of hundreds-- thousands? He doesn't even know how many. I think, that if Wraith cries, then something has truly broken him to the extent that those events did. that's also why the bad ending for Wraith in Hooked on You is devastatingly heart-wrenching, and I appreciate greatly the absolutely messy sobbing that the artist drew for him in that ending frame.

Photo: Ine no Funaya
This is Ine, a small fishing village in Kyoto Prefecture along the Japan Sea. It is not easily accessible from Kyoto City. When I went there I took a train to Miyazu Station and then drove another hour to Ine. I got to Miyazu via train from Kyoto. I think it took about 3-4 hours total. Ine’s fame comes from it’s funaya, or boathouses. The Funaya are 2 story houses built over the water. It allows…

Picturesque Funaya Along the Sea of Japan, Ine-Kyoto-fu. This is the boot that travels around Ine Bay, Kyoto Prefecture, along the Japan Sea in the Tango Peninsula (丹後半島). It travels along the shore so you can get a close look at the "Funaya (舟屋) or boat houses".
